• VB to c++ or c#?

  I am trying to translate this code but I don't understand how to use the GET / PUT part of the code in another language like c++ or c#. What I understand is that the code get a file and then save it with some random data added to make it look different than the original. I don't use vb since years and I don't remember anything about it. Can someone help me porting this snippet to c++ or c#?

  I have the following class as part of an asp.net application. public sealed class SomeClass { private static string appId = Guid.NewGuid().ToString(); public static ReadSomethingFromDb(){} public static WriteSomethingToDb(){} } There are more than one application instances in the same application pool, and they all access the same database. I want the operations performed by the above class to be uniquely tied to the instance that performed it, hence the use of the appId. So adding a record to the database would for example contain a name, address and appId. This has been simplified for discussion purposes. Assuming that I have two instances running at mysite.a and mysite.b the above class would generate two different guids. My problem is that mysite.a sometimes produces more than one guid, which is unexpected. Thank you in advance

• Modifying the Label Property(text and font) by a custom ComboBox

  I have created a custom combobox that has a LABEL property so when we drop it on a form, we can say the Label associated with this ComboBox is say Label2 this is what I wrote for its label property.   Hi, I've a basic template class, but I'd like to restrain the type of the specialisation to a set of classes or types. e.g.: template <typename T> class MyClass { .../... private: T* _p; }; MyClass<std::string> a; // OK MYCLass<short> b; // OK MyClass<double> c; // not OK Those are just examples, the allowed types may vary.   Quite simply, I need to alert the end user when they have a new private message. From a combination of research and other opinion, I realise I need to use AJAX for this. The mysql query would be SELECT id FROM tbl_messages WHERE to_viewed = 1 So when someone sends a message, I want an alert to popup on the screen to inform the user without a page reload. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, but know what I want. Really need help with this, AJAX is definitely something I want to improve as it opens up greater possibilities! Thanks

  Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up. • .net: How do you feed a winform after clicking on a row of a datagridview of search form?

  I have a winform which is responsible for doing a search by some conditions that users enters and then selects the records from a Database. The search form has a data grid view which shows the result. After searching, user clikcs on a row of the datagridview and then another form (for example frmShowDetails) will be displayed. My question is when displaying frmShowDetails, what are your suggestions to send the id of selected row to frmShowDetails in order to feed it to show data in .net? Do you use form property or a private mariable which sets by only form constructor? Thank you

  I have a private LinkedList in a Java class & will frequently need to retrieve the last element in the list. The lists need to scale, so I'm trying to decide whether I need to keep a reference to the last element when I make changes (to achieve O(1)) or if the LinkedList class does that already with the getLast() call. What is the big-O cost of LinkedList.getLast() and is it documented? (i.e. can I rely on this answer or should I make no assumptions & cache it even if it's O(1)?)

  After the splash screen, it takes about 6 sec to load onCreate contents in the Main activity. I've seen people recommend that you do this: class UILockable<T> where T : UIWidget { private T _base; } This would require me to override each function UILockable would need and forward it to T. This is impossible since T may derive from UIWidget and have unique abstract/virtual methods of its own. Is there no way to simply inherit from T?

• Problem decrementing in Java with '-='

  I'm making a scrolling game on Android and am having a hard time figuring out why the code below does not decrement past 0. Objects start at the end of the screen (so the x position is equal to the width of the screen) the objects move accross the screen by decrementing their x positions. I want them to scroll off of the screen, but when the x position hits 0, the objects just stay at 0, they do not move into the negatives. Here is my code to move objects on the screen private void incrementPositions(long delta) { float incrementor = (delta / 1000F) * Globals.MAP_SECTION_SPEED; for(Map.Entry<Integer, HashMap<Integer, MapSection>> column : scrollingMap.entrySet()) { for(Map.Entry<Integer, MapSection> row : column.getValue().entrySet()) { MapSection section = row.getValue(); section.x -= incrementor; } } } It works ok if I change section.x -= incrementor; to section.x = section.x - (int)incrementor; but if i do that the scrolling doesn't appear as smooth.

It looks like my function is not working. Console.WriteLine(UnicodeString("????? ?????")) printing on console just questions like that: ????? ???? Is there any way to say to console to display it correct? UPDATE Looks like the problem not in Unicode, I think may be it is displaying question marks because i am not having correct locale in the system (Windows 7)? Is there any way to make it work without changing locale?
