• How can I make a recursive version of my iterative method?

  Greetings. I am trying to write a recursive function in Java that prints the numbers one through n. (n being the parameter that you send the function.) An iterative solution is pretty straightforward: public static void printNumbers(int n){ for(int i = 1; i <= n; i++){ System.out.println(i); i++; } As a novice programmer, I'm having troubles figuring out how a recursive version of this method would work. For some reason this works perfectly for myself but for my users they are getting the following error -- The target table 'dbo.tblEmploymentPrevocServices' of the DML statement cannot have any enabled triggers if the statement contains an OUTPUT clause without INTO clause. I know from debugging that es isn't null. Here, we are overriding printVal() method, so that is understandable that it is accessing child class method only. But I could not understand why it's accessing the value of x from Super class...   From programming pearls, it is known that array[1...n] has heap property if for all 2<=i<=n x[i/2]<=x[i]. When I compile this code it shows me at last line that it is not heap. Maybe because the index starts from 1 and we don't pay attention to index 0, yes?

After form 12 I would like wipe out all the property values in the storing class so that the next user won't accidentally record values when starting the process at form 1.   I'm looking to create a password-protected section of my website that requires user login, and I'm wondering what approach would provide the simplest solution. For the most part, the site will be very simple and static-- i.e. no real requirement for a database/backend-- with the protected content contained in a single directory, which I've already configured on my server via htaccess. I guess I'm wondering ultimately if it's possible to use a script of some sort that will enable access to this protected directory via a form and thereby bypass the need for configuring a mySQL/PHP solution? Furthermore, this protected content is not exactly hyper-sensitive, but private nonetheless. Thanks much for any direction here.

• Quick to develop web app in Java

  Hi all, I need to develop a basic web app very quickly (1 week) for a demo. My requirements are Java (I need to make use of existing Java libraries to access the relevant data) 2 screens One for static data view, maybe some search parameters Other for basic form entry No fancy AJAX required Ideally easy for a web designer to come in and tart it up as necessary, without having to rewrite everything My first stop was going to be to checkout Wicket as I've heard good things about it. I don't have the time right now to dive into anything heavy, which probably writes off JSF in my mind (I played with JSF1, steep learning curve which I've now slid back down). I'm happy to treat the result as throwaway so if there's a framework which starts of well but then doesn't scale up to bigger projects, that would be ok. Any suggestions appreciated on frameworks/approach.

  I recall seeing, somewhere, an example that stepped through String args[] by deleting the lowest numbered value(s) public static void main( String args[]) { while (args.length > 0 ) { // do something and obliterate elements from args[] } } Obviously, a variable tracking current position in args and compared to args.length will do it; or an ArrayList made from args[]'s contents, with argsAL.size(). Am I mis-remembering an ArrayList example? I know this is a borderline question, the likely answer is, "No, there isn't and there shouldn't be either!". Maybe I'm over-focused... Bill

• Why did I get a 400 Bad Request when getting a page with PHP Curl?

  Hi, I was trying to access a page using curl. I could access it perfectly using the browser and using "static" strings as the URL, like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=1234" But when I tried to access the page using a variable in the URL string like: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=$param" I got a 400 error code. I checked out on the web and found some comments here in this stackoverflow thread: Then, just for curiosity I did the following: $url = "http://www.example.com/?q=" . trim($param); and it worked! And no, $param did NOT contain any spaces. To me, it seems that it can be some encoding error, but I really can't find an explanation for it. Does anyone here in stackoverflow know what it can possibly be? Thanks in advance :)

Right now, it's just all coded into that one page, but I'm wanting to learn how to use Zend Framework. How do you handle basic-relatively static php pages within Zend Framework? Do you just stick the whole individual pages into their own respective views and then have to common stuff in the layout, and not worry about a model and controller for those pages? in general, is MVC accepted and appropriate technology for general "web-design" work?
