  • Huge company wants my domain name

    Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'll give it a go. I simply require a little advice; A very large hosted e-commerce platform emailed me a while back and basically asked me to transfer my domain name to them. They made no offer but simply said 'why not change your domain to xx - xx instaead of xxxx' Not they own all the equivalent names in .com, .org all of them apart from my .co.uk I am a registered partner of theirs and my website is a portfolio of all my themes but I also get a lot of enquires through it. I had heard rumors this company is opening an office in the UK! I'm right in thinking I shouldn't just roll over right? I've put some much effort in to SEO and building my reputation... I can't just give it up surly?

  • Change A-Record in Hetzner Konsoleh

    I am a Hetzner level 19 shared hosting client and would like to change the A-record for my domain. When I log in to konsoleh, I see which IP-address it points to at the moment, but not where I can change it. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks! Solution I called Hetzner support. It was because I had to log in with my client id, not with my domain. Then I could just click on the A-record and edit it.

    I'm trying to buy a new Android phone and I own an Ubuntu 12.04 computer... I have the choice of a Google Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Galaxy S2, and a HTC Sensation XL. I am aware that the HTC already works with it but i would prefer to buy the samsung. I already have the phone hardware specifications and have checked but i am not sure with the samsung or the nexus. So which of these phones work for Ubuntu 12.04's 'Ubuntu for Android' feature?

  • BumbleBee / getting Nvidia 310.19 Drivers to Work | 12.10

    Asus U31JG - A1 Laptop: -Intel Core i3 -Nvidia 415m / Intel HD Graphics ( Optimus Technology ) Hello, I have been trying for about 3 weeks now to get any kind of Nvidia driver to work, and now am determined to get the 310.19 driver to work. I have tried numerous times of which either nothing happened or my interface ( menu bars, the top and left bar on desktop, and the ability to close a window) would disappear. Apparently I'm not making the connection on how to get these to install properly. I have tried numerous other posts and websites and attempted "bumblebee" to no avail. I am wondering if anyone can write a step by step guide of commands that I need to run in terminal to get this to work. I've had to reinstall 12.10, so if you could walk me through the process of getting the drivers downloaded and installed, I would greatly appreciate it. I barely know what I'm doing, and this is quite a turn off for someone new to Ubuntu, I really want to enjoy it but this is preventing me from committing. Thank you in advance, and I apologize for being so flustered / helpless with this but I have ran out of patience with this.

  • Image captions and wrapping [migrated]

    What's the best way to add a caption below an image? The image and its caption will be floated right, and the text on the caption needs to wrap -- a 200x200px image shouldn't have a caption of width 800px. I would strongly prefer a solution that allows me to update images (with different widths) without changing the CSS or markup. For reasons beyond my control the image itself will also be floated right, but this should not be too problematic.

  • Dell monitor not detected (Ubuntu 11.10)

    I have an issue with my monitor. I just installed Ubuntu 11.10, but the monitor that is plugged in doesn't appear anywhere. And by doesn't appear, I mean that in the "Displays" menu, it doesn't even appear as "Unknown", I just have my screen that appears and nothing else. It is connected through VGA, and the monitor is recognized with no problem on Windows 7. It is a Dell monitor. I'm not a pro with Ubuntu, so any help to diagnose the issue would be really helpful (and help me learn how to fix this kind of monitor issue in the future) Thanks !

    I have a form where I ask for email addresses. Usually I'd use <input type="email" ...> but I want to allow a user to type foo rather than [email protected] in the (likely) case that they are using an @mycompany.com email address. Is there a way to get around the validation (if format matches this regex, accept; otherwise, validate normally), or should I just use <input type="text" ...> and ignore the semantics and so forth?

    Hello Silverlight gurus, I am experiencing a problem with the DataGrid where my data-bound object's properties are not being updated when using the CellTemplate/CellEditingTemplate: <data:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Text"> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Text}" ></TextBlock> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox Text="{Binding Text, Mode=TwoWay}" /> </DataTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> </data:DataGridTemplateColumn> I am binding to a code-gen'd entity via the RIA Services. I've added an event handler to the PropertyChanged event, and it is never fired. However, if I do not use a template and instead use a DataGridTextColumn, everything works fine. I'm sure this sounds like an easy fix - I'm only using a TextBox in my editing template, so why not us a DataGridTextColumn? The problem is that I want to have a multi-line textbox, so using the DataGridTextColumn is not an option. Any suggestions? Do you know of any differences between using a CellEditingTemplate containing a single TextBox and using a DataGridTextColumn?   • How to Customize JAXB Marshalling if generating JAXB beans from XML

    Hello, I want to customize the marshalling of dates in JAXB. It's a variant of this already asked question. I would think I would use an XMLAdapter, as this answer questions specifies. But I can't do that exactly, because I'm going the other way around, generating the JAXB beans from an .XSD -- I can't add annotations to the JAXB beans because they are generated code. I've tried calling Marshaller.setAdapter(), but with no luck. final Marshaller marshaller = getJaxbContext().createMarshaller(); marshaller.setSchema(kniSchema); marshaller.setAdapter(new DateAdapter()); ... private static class DateAdapter extends XmlAdapter<String, XMLGregorianCalendar> { @Override public String marshal(XMLGregorianCalendar v) throws Exception { return "hello"; //Just a test to see if it's working } @Override public XMLGregorianCalendar unmarshal(String v) throws Exception { return null; // Don't care about this for now } } Where the relevant part of my generated JAXB bean looks like this: @XmlSchemaType(name = "date") protected XMLGregorianCalendar activeSince; When I do this, what the default date/XMLGregorianCalendar marshalling happens.   • "Object reference not set to an instance of an object": why can't .NET show more details?

    "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" This is probably one of the most common run-time errors in .NET. Although the System.Exception has a stack trace, why does the exception not also show the name of the object reference field, or at least its type? Over the course of a year I spend hours sifting through stack traces (often in code I did not write), hoping there is a line number from a ".pdb" file, then finding the line in the code, and even then it is often not obvious which reference on the line was null. Having the name of the reference field would be very convenient. If System.ArgumentNullException instances can show the name of the method parameter ("Value cannot be null. Parameter name: value"), then surely System.NullReferenceException instances could include the name of the null field (or its containing collection).

A few options I've looked at: James Clarke's SD, which is an option of last resort, but I'd like to avoid the complexity of building/installing/configuring code external to PHP. PHP's DOMDocument will validate against a DTD, so must be able to read them, though I don't see how to get at the DTD parser directly at first glance.

  • Visual Artifacts in Visual Studio 2010

    I'm using VS 2010 on Windows Server 2003, running on a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. VS 2010 runs fine, except for persistent and random screen re-drawing issues. Samples of these are here. These artifacts occur as the mouse moves over items that highlight on a mouse-over event, while scrolling, and when switching tabs. VS 2008 has non of these issues, so I assume that it is related to VS 2010's use of WPF. Could it be that my video card or driver is not up to the task of rendering WPF? Some other WPF applications (not Silverlight) also have some of these screen repainting problems. I have tried a variety of settings in System Properties--Advanced--Performance Options--Visual Effects, and in the related "Advanced" tab, Processor Scheduling is adjusted for best performance of programs.   • Disable Eclipse warning about generated html?

    When developing Flex projects, Eclipse gives warnings about the default index.html file generated by Flex Builder. The file is in the 'target' folder (or "generated artifacts" folder. Yes, I'm also using Maven). Can I eliminate or disable this warning? The code which generates the warning is below, though I would definitely prefer not changing the html - as I say this is the template suggested by Adobe. Eclipse warns of "Undefined attribute name (xxx)" for scroll on the body tag, and most of the embed attributes.   • Does the box API require case-sensitive booleans?

    I'm having some issues with the box.com developer API, and it seems that this is due to the API requiring lower-case booleans in request parameters. When I make a call to say, delete a folder, the URI my framework is generating looks like this: (DELETE) https://api.box.com/2.0/folders/1234?recursive=True This doesn't work, and the API throws an error. However, if I manually set the URI to this: (DELETE) https://api.box.com/2.0/folders/1234?recursive=true Everything seems to work just fine. I'd like to confirm that this is indeed the behavior, and if it is, I'd like to request box fix their API!

    I'm using Flex - IIS - ASP.NET to do remote calls. When I stresstest, all remote calls that take longer than 30 seconds fail. In Charles I get a message saying 'SocketTimeout: Read timed out'. Is this something that can be configured in IIS? Or could it be a problem with a setting in Charles?

  • Preserving case in HTTP headers with Ruby's Net:HTTP

    Although the HTTP spec says that headers are case insensitive; Paypal, with their new adaptive payments API require their headers to be case-sensitive. Using the paypal adaptive payments extension for ActiveMerchant (http://github.com/lamp/paypal_adaptive_gateway) it seems that although the headers are set in all caps, they are sent in mixed case.   • How to write a custom solution using a python package, modules etc

    I am writing a packacge foobar which consists of the modules alice, bob, charles and david. From my understanding of Python packages and modules, this means I will create a folder foobar, with the following subdirectories and files (please correct if I am wrong) foobar/ __init__.py alice/alice.py bob/bob.py charles/charles.py david/david.py The package should be executable, so that in addition to making the modules alice, bob etc available as 'libraries', I should also be able to use foobar in a script like this: python foobar --args=someargs Question1: Can a package be made executable and used in a script like I described above? Question 2 The various modules will use code that I want to refactor into a common library. Does that mean creating a new sub directory 'foobar/common' and placing common.py in that folder? Question 3 How will the modules foo import the common module ? Is it 'from foobar import common' or can I not use this since these modules are part of the package? Question 4 I want to add logic for when the foobar package is being used in a script (assuming this can be done - I have only seen it done for modules) The code used is something like: if __name__ == "__main__": dosomething() where (in which file) would I put this logic ?

  • Red 5, First setup "ssl_error_rx_record_too_long" error message

    I am using Windows 7 and I installed Red 5 0.9.1 just recently. After it installed I put 127.0.0.1 as the IP adress and 5080 as http port. After I start the service in windows I try to connect to the localhost in firefox (http://localhost:5080) and get this error An error occurred during a connection to localhost:5080. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) I checked my global flash settings and allowed localhost to pass along with the Red 5 folder in C/programfiles/red5. I currently have the up to date versions of JDK and JRE also. Any tips on what might be wrong?
