    Hi there, Suposse you have to following tables where a sale consists of products and a product can be placed in multiple categories. Whereby categories have a hierachly structure like: Man Shoes Sport Casual Watches Women Shoes Sport Casual Watches Tables: Sale: id name 1 Sale1 Product: id saleidfk name 1 1 a 2 1 b 3 1 c 4 1 d 5 1 e ProductCategory : productid categoryid 1 3 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 10 Category: id ParentCategoryIdFk name 1 null Men 2 1 Shoes 3 2 Sport 4 2 Casual 5 1 Watches 6 null Women 7 6 Shoes 8 7 Sport 9 7 Casual 10 6 Watches Question: Now on my website I want to create a control where only the categories are shown of a certain sale and where the categories are filled with the products of the sale. I also want to include the hierachly structure of the categories. So if we have a leave node, recusivly go up to the top node. So with sale1 I should have a query with the following result: Men Shoes Sport Casual Watches Women Watches This thing is driving me crazy :-) Thanks in advance! Gr Martijn

  • Dynamic controls lost when postback

    Hi I load my self-made webuser controls dynamically. A user chooses a template and depending on that template I load some self-made webuser controls (.ascx) that are defined in a sql server database. When the user fills in the TextBoxes and clicks on the submit button, the entries in the TextBoxes should be saved in my database. The problem is that when clicking the submit button, the TextBox entries are erased. I searched a lot to fix this problem, for example I tried to load every control again every postback by putting the code in the Page_Init event but unfortunately it won't work.

Google script, CSS, etc. ... ); TextBox txt = new TextBox(); txt.ID = "text1"; this.Controls.Add(txt); CustomValidator vld = new CustomValidator(); vld.ControlToValidate = "text1"; vld.ID = "validator1"; this.Controls.Add(vld); } } Don't allow for the detailed layout that we need. Any suggestions on how I can combine layout and functionality and still have a single ASP control we can drop in to pages? The ultimate goal is for users of the control to just drop in: <captcha:CaptchaControl ID="CaptchaControl1" runat="server" Server="http://localhost:51947/" /> and see the working control. Sorry for the basic nature of this one, any help is greatly appreciated.

    I'm trying to add some dynamic controls to my Silverlight page after a WCF call. When I try to add a control to I get an error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Here is a simplified version of my code: using edm = SilverlightBusinessApplication.ServiceRefrence; public partial class ListWCF : Page { edm.ServiceClient EdmClient = new ServiceClient(); public ListWCF() { EdmClient.GetTestCompleted += EdmGetTestCompleted; EdmClient.GetTestAsync(); } private void EdmGetTestCompleted(object sender, edm.GetTestCompletedEventArgs e) { //This is where I want to add my controls Button b = new Button(); LayoutRoot.Children.Add(b); //Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object } } Is it not possible to modify the page after it has been loaded?     The HTTP library Drakma on CLISP generates an error USOCKET:UNSUPPORTED due to a bug in Drakma+CLISP. However, it turns out that the CONTINUE restart seems to work fine. Therefore, I spent some time with CLtL and other references trying to determine how to write a restart handler. (defun http-request (url param) (handler-bind ((USOCKET:UNSUPPORTED #'(lambda (x) (invoke-restart 'continue))))) (drakma:http-request url :method :post :parameters param)) According to my best understanding, the above code should trap the error USOCKET:UNSUPPORTED. It doesn't; it seems to ignore the error binder. How do I fix this?

    Is there a way to find out how much memory is used by an instance of a class or basic data types in general? I have a toy webframework in cl that creates and manages web pages with instances of classes that represent the html tags and their properties, and as they are supposed to make an html page, they have children in a slot called children. so I was thinking how much a user's session will cost the server if I take this approach. I am wondering if there is a way (for error checking purposes) to test if a method exists without trying to execute it. If I just try and call the method and it doesn't exist this will crash my application.

  • Custom Image Button and Radio/Toggle Button from Common Base Class

    Hi All, I would like to create a set of custom controls that are basically image buttons (it's a little more complex than that, but that's the underlying effect I'm going for) that I've seen a few different examples for. However, I would like to further extend that to also allow radio/toggle buttons. What I'd like to do is have a common abstract class called ImageButtonBase that has default implementations for ImageSource and Text, etc. That makes a regular ImageButton implementation pretty easy. The issue I am having is creating the RadioButton flavor of it. As I see it, there are at least three options: It would be easy to create something that derives from RadioButton, but then I can't use the abstract class I've created. I could change the abstract class to an interface, but then I lose the abstract implementations, and will in fact have duplication of code. I could derive from my abstract class, and re-implement the RadioButton-type properties and events (IsChecked, GroupName, etc.), but that certainly doesn't seem like a great idea. Note: I have seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2362641/how-to-get-a-group-of-toggle-buttons-to-act-like-radio-buttons-in-wpf, but what I want to do is a little more complex. I'm just wondering if anybody has an example of an implementation, or something that might be adapted to this kind of scenario. I can see pros and cons of each of the ideas above, but each comes with potential pitfalls. Thanks, wTs

    Recently I wrote example about using user controls with donut caching. Because cache substitutions are not allowed inside partially cached controls you may get the error Substitution controls cannot be used in cached User Controls or cached Master Pages when breaking this rule. In this posting I will introduce some strategies that help to avoid this error. How Substitution control checks its location? Substitution control uses the following check in its OnPreRender method. protected internal override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e) {     base.OnPreRender(e);     for (Control control = this.Parent; control != null;          control = control.Parent)     {         if (control is BasePartialCachingControl)         {             throw new HttpException(SR.GetString("Substitution_CannotBeInCachedControl"));         }     } } It traverses all the control tree up to top from its parent to find at least one control that is partially cached. If such control is found then exception is thrown. Reusing the functionality If you want to do something by yourself if your control may cause exception mentioned before you can use the same code. I modified the previously shown code to be method that can be easily moved to user controls base class if you have some. If you don’t you can use it in controls where you need this check. protected bool IsInsidePartialCachingControl() {     for (Control control = Parent; control != null;         control = control.Parent)         if (control is BasePartialCachingControl)             return true;       return false; } Now it is up to you how to handle the situation where your control with substitutions is child of some partially cache control. You can add here also some debug level output so you can see exactly what controls in control hierarchy are cached and cause problems.

    Hi, I have a control template in one of my pages and i am assigning this template to my textbox's Validation.ErrorTemplate property. This template is used as below. <TextBox Grid.Column="5" Grid.Row="1" x:Name="txtemail" Grid.ColumnSpan="3" Margin="0,1,20,1" Validation.ErrorTemplate="{StaticResource ValidationErrorTemplate}" /> My question here is I want to move this control template outside of this page so that i can use it across the application. I tried putting the exact same code of the control template in a user control say "ErrorUC" and using it as below TextBox1.SetResourceReference (System.Windows.Controls.Validation.ErrorTemplateProperty, new ErrorUC()); On running the above code i learnt that "AdornedElementPlaceholder" can be used only in templates and not in user controls.   • dpkg returns error 10 when processing package php5-common

    I'm having trouble installing php in 13.04. Seems like the package manager can't (re)configure the php package. I already tried purging every php* package, removing the cache files in /var/cache/aptbut and other solutions I've found but nothing seems to work. Here's the error output: $ sudo dpkg --configure -a Setting up php5-common (5.4.9-4ubuntu2.3) ... dpkg: error processing php5-common (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10 Errors were encountered while processing: php5-common sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get install php5-common php5 they all return the same error. How can I fix this?

  • WPF - Make two controls the same size

    Is there any way to make two controls that are in different containers the same size in WPF? For example, suppose you have two textboxes: textbox1 and textbox2. Textbox1 is in a grid and its size can grow and shrink when the user resizes the window. Textbox2 is in another part of the window and I need it to always have the same size as textbox1. Is there any way to do this? Keep in mind SharedSizeGroup will not work because the textboxes are in different containers. Also, I've tried binding textbox2's height property to textbox1 and that doesn't seem to work either. Finally, I tried catching textbox1's SizeChanged event, but its Height property is always NaN for some reason.
