  • How do I set the dimensions of a custom component defined in an ActionScript class?

    - by user339681
    I'm trying to set the height of a vertical bar (activityBar) but it does not appear to do anything. i have tried something similar with the whole component, but setting the dimensions does nothing (even in the mxml used to instantiate the class). Indeed, I've added transparent graphics just to give the component some dimensions I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's something bad though; my approach seems dire. FYI: I'm trying to create a mic activity bar that will respond to the mic by simply setting the height of the activityBar child (which seems to me to be more efficient than redrawing the graphics each time). Thanks for your help! package components { import mx.core.UIComponent; public class MicActivityBar extends UIComponent { public var activityBar:UIComponent; // Constructor public function MicActivityBar() { super(); this.opaqueBackground = 0xcc4444; graphics.beginFill(0xcccccc, 0); graphics.drawRect(0,-15,5,30); graphics.endFill();// background for bar activityBar = new UIComponent(); activityBar.graphics.beginFill(0xcccccc, 0.8); activityBar.graphics.drawRect(0,-15,5,20); activityBar.graphics.endFill(); activityBar.height=10; addChild(activityBar); } } }

  • Matlab wont extract first row & column because of matrix dimensions !

    - by ZaZu
    Hey guys, I am tracking an object that is thrown in air, and this object governs a parabolic pattern. Im tracking the object through a series of 30 images. I managed to exclude all the background and keep the object apparent, then used its centroid to get its coordinates and plot them. Now im supposed to predict where the object is going to fall, so I used polyfit & polyval .. the problem is, matlab says ??? Index exceeds matrix dimensions. Now the centroid creates its own structure with a row and 2 columns. Everytime the object moves in the loop, it updates the first row only .. Here is part of the code : For N=1:30 . . . x=centroid(1,1); % extract first row and column for x y=centroid(1,2); % extract secnd row and column for x plot_xy=plot(x,y) set(plot_xy,'XData',x(1:N),'YData',y(1:N)); fitting=polyfit(x(1:N),y(1:N),2); parabola=plot(x,nan(23,1)); evaluate=polyval(fitting,x); set(parabola,'YData',evaluate) . . end The error message I get is ??? Index exceeds matrix dimensions. It seems that (1:N) is causing the problems .. I honestly do not know why .. But when I remove N, the object is plotted along with its points, but polyfitting wont work, it gives me an error saying : Warning: Polynomial is not unique; degree >= number of data points. > In polyfit at 72 If I made it (1:N-1) or something, it plots more points before it starts giving me the same error (not unique ...) . Any ideas why ?? Thanks alot !!

  • In a star schema, are foreign key constraints between facts and dimensions neccessary?

    - by Garett
    I'm getting my first exposure to data warehousing, and I’m wondering is it necessary to have foreign key constraints between facts and dimensions. Are there any major downsides for not having them? I’m currently working with a relational star schema. In traditional applications I’m used to having them, but I started to wonder if they were needed in this case. I’m currently working in a SQL Server 2005 environment.

  • How can I find the dimensions of a matrix in Python?

    - by PBD10017
    How can I find the dimensions of a matrix in Python. Len(A) returns only one variable. Edit: Hi Thanks. close = dataobj.get_data(timestamps, symbols, closefield) Is (I assume) generating a matrix of integers (less likely strings). I need to find the size of that matrix, so I can run some tests without having to iterate through all of the elements. As far as the data type goes, I assume it's an array of arrays (or list of lists).

  • Changing classes on multiple divs when selecting specific radio buttons

    - by Rob
    Hey everyone I got a javascript problem I can't seem to find a specific solution for on the web. What I want to be able to do is select one of the radio buttons and have that change the class of #home-right to either .rackmount or .shipping and add the class of .displaynone to the type of dimensions I don't want shown. <div id="home-right" class="rackmount"> <h4 class="helvneuebcn">Case Finder</h4> <div class="cta-options"> <input type="radio" value="Shipping and Storage" name="" checked> Shipping and Storage<br/> <input type="radio" value="Rackmount Enclosures" name=""> Rackmount Enclosures<br/> </div> <div class="shipping-dimensions displaynone"> <div class="dimensions"><input type="text" class="size"><span class="helvneuemd">H x </span></div> <div class="dimensions"><input type="text" class="size"><span class="helvneuemd">W x </span></div> <div class="dimensions"><input type="text" class="size"><span class="helvneuemd">L</span></div> </div> <div class="rackmount-dimensions"> <div class="dimensions"><input type="text" class="size"><span class="helvneuemd">U Height x </span></div> <div class="dimensions"><input type="text" class="size"><span class="helvneuemd">Rack Depth</span></div> </div> <div class="clear"></div> <input type="button" value="Submit" class="findcase"> </div>

  • Star-schema: Separate dimensions for clients and non-clients or shared dimension for attendants?

    - by celopes
    I'm new to modeling star schemas, fresh from reading the Data Warehouse Toolkit. I have a business process that has clients and non-clients calling into conference calls with some of our employees. My fact table, call it "Audience", will contain a measure of how long an attending person was connected to the call, and the cost per minute of this person's connection to the call. The grain is "individual connection to the conference call". Should I use my conformed Client dimension and create a non-client dimension (for the callers that are not yet clients) this way (omitting dimensions that are not part of this questions): Or would it be OK/better to have a non-conformed Attending dimension related to the conformed Client dimension in this manner: Or is there a better/standard mechanism to model business processes like this one?

  • How to hide/show div using jQuery without altering dimensions?

    - by Byron S
    I have a div that is holding a google chart: <div id="chart_div" style="width: 600px; height: 300px;"></div> It has one CSS property: display: none. On the click of a button, I would like to have the chart be displayed using jQuery hide() and show(). It's working, however, the chart's dimensions are set to something different than I have specified and refuse to change to what I have specified. Here is my jquery code: $(document).ready(function(){ var chart = $('#chart_div'); $('#submit').click(function(){ chart.show('slow'); }); }); Let me know if theres any more code you would like to see. By the way, the chart div is not being contained in anything else so that isn't the problem.

  • Please help me correct the small bugs in this image editor

    - by Alex
    Hi, I'm working on a website that will sell hand made jewelry and I'm finishing the image editor, but it's not behaving quite right. Basically, the user uploads an image which will be saved as a source and then it will be resized to fit the user's screen and saved as a temp. The user will then go to a screen that will allow them to crop the image and then save it to it's final versions. All of that works fine, except, the final versions have 3 bugs. First is some black horizontal line on the very bottom of the image. Second is an outline of sorts that follows the edges. I thought it was because I was reducing the quality, but even at 100% it still shows up... And lastly, I've noticed that the cropped image is always a couple of pixels lower than what I'm specifying... Anyway, I'm hoping someone whose got experience in editing images with C# can maybe take a look at the code and see where I might be going off the right path. Oh, by the way, this in an ASP.NET MVC application. Here's the code: using System; using System.Drawing; using System.Drawing.Drawing2D; using System.Drawing.Imaging; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Web; namespace Website.Models.Providers { public class ImageProvider { private readonly ProductProvider ProductProvider = null; • How to shift a vector based on the rotation of another vector?

    - by bpierre
    I’m learning 2D programming, so excuse my approximations, and please, don’t hesitate to correct me. I am just trying to fire a bullet from a player. I’m using HTML canvas (top left origin). Here is a representation of my problem: The black vector represent the position of the player (the grey square). The green vector represent its direction. The red disc represents the target. The red vector represents the direction of a bullet, which will move in the direction of the target (red and dotted line). The blue cross represents the point from where I really want to fire the bullet (and the blue and dotted line represents its movement). This is how I draw the player (this is the player object. Position, direction and dimensions are 2D vectors): ctx.save(); ctx.translate(this.position.x, this.position.y); ctx.rotate(this.direction.getAngle()); ctx.drawImage(this.image, Math.round(-this.dimensions.x/2), Math.round(-this.dimensions.y/2), this.dimensions.x, this.dimensions.y); ctx.restore(); This is how I instanciate a new bullet: var bulletPosition = playerPosition.clone(); // Copy of the player position var bulletDirection = Vector2D.substract(targetPosition, playerPosition).normalize(); // Difference between the player and the target, normalized new Bullet(bulletPosition, bulletDirection); This is how I move the bullet (this is the bullet object): var speed = 5; this.position.add(Vector2D.multiply(this.direction, speed)); And this is how I draw the bullet (this is the bullet object): ctx.save(); ctx.translate(this.position.x, this.position.y); ctx.rotate(this.direction.getAngle()); ctx.fillRect(0, 0, 3, 3); ctx.restore(); How can I change the direction and position vectors of the bullet to ensure it is on the blue dotted line? I think I should represent the shift with a vector, but I can’t see how to use it.

  • Why is Raphael.JS creating paper with dimensions 1000x1000?

    - by Bryan
    I have a demo using raphael.js. The code for it is very simple but when viewed in Internet Explorer (less that version 9) I get a Raphael canvas that is 1000px by 1000px and I can't figure out why. I'm using version 1.5.2 of Raphael. Code below: HTML <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title>Raphael Test</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="test.css"> <link href="../shared/img/favicon.png" rel="shortcut icon"> </head> <body> <div id="graph"></div> <script src="../shared/js/raphael/raphael-min.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <script src="test.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> </body> </html> CSS /* Graph */ #graph { padding: 5px; width: 477px; height: 299; } JS var holder = document.getElementById('graph') , width = holder.scrollWidth , height = Math.round(width * 0.5625) + 25 , p = Raphael(10, 50, width, height) , c = p.circle(p.width - 50, p.height - 50, 50); alert(p.width + ' & ' + p.height); I found a discussion in Raphael's Google group with the same problem but no resolution.

  • RectangleGeometry with relative dimensions... how?

    - by Padu Merloti
    I'm trying to replicate the nowadays so fashionable "reflex" effect on a controltemplate for buttons I'm creating. The basic idea is to create a rectangle with a gradient fill from white to transparent and then clip some of that semi-transparent rectangle with a rectanglegeometry. The problem is that I don't know how to define a relative rectangle geometry. I kind of worked around width by defining a large value (1000), but height is a problem. For example, it works good for buttons that have a 200 height, but doesn't do anything for smaller buttons. Any ideas? <Rectangle RadiusX="5" RadiusY="5" StrokeThickness="1" Stroke="Transparent"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,0.55"> <GradientStop Color="#66ffffff" Offset="0.0" /> <GradientStop Color="Transparent" Offset="1.0" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> <Rectangle.Clip> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,1000,60" /> </Rectangle.Clip> </Rectangle>

  • Ad-hoc reporting similar to Microstrategy/Pentaho - is OLAP really the only choice (is OLAP even sufficient)?

    - by TheBeefMightBeTough
    So I'm getting ready to develop an API in Java that will provide all dimensions, metrics, hierarchies, etc to a user such that they can pick and choose what they want (say, e.g., dimensions of Location (a store) and Weekly, and the metric Product Sales $), provide their choices to the api, and have it spit out an object that contains the answer to their question (the object would probably be a set of cells). I don't even believe there will be much drill up/down. The data warehouse the APIwill interface with is in a standard form (FACT tables, dimensions, star schema format). My question is, is an OLAP framework such as Mondrian the only way to achieve something akin to ad-hoc reporting? I can envisage a really large Cube (or VirtualCube) that contains most of the dimensions and metrics the user could ever want, which would give the illusion of ad-hoc reporting. The problem is that there is a ton of setup to do (so much XML) to get the framework to work with the data. Further it requires specific knowledge, such as MDX, and even moreso learning the framework peculiars (Mondrian API). Finally, I am not positive it will scale much better than simply making queries against a SQL database. OLAP to me feels like very old technology. Is performance really an issue anymore? The alternative I can think of would be dynamic SQL. If the existing tables in the data warehouse conform to a naming scheme (FACT_, DIM_, etc), or if a very simple config file/ database table containing config information existed that stored which tables are fact tables, which are dimensions, and what metrics are available, then couldn't the api read from that and assembly the appropriate sql query? Would this necessarily be harder than learning MDX, Mondrian (or another OLAP framework), and creating all the cubes? In general, I feel that OLAP is at the same time too powerful (supports drill up/down, complex functions) and outdated and am reluctant to base my architecture on it. However, I am unsure if the alternative(s), such as rolling my own ad-hoc reporting framework using dynamic SQL would remove any complexity while still fulfilling requirements, both functional and non-functional (e.g., scalability; some FACT tables have many millions of rows). I also wonder about other techniques (e.g., hive). Has anyone here tried to do ad-hoc reporting? Any advice? I expect this project to take a pretty long time (3 months min, but probably longer), so I just do not want to commit to an architecture without being absolutely sure of its pros and cons. Thanks so much.

  • Movement and Collision with AABB

    - by Jeremy Giberson
    I'm having a little difficulty figuring out the following scenarios. http://i.stack.imgur.com/8lM6i.png In scenario A, the moving entity has fallen to (and slightly into the floor). The current position represents the projected position that will occur if I apply the acceleration & velocity as usual without worrying about collision. The Next position, represents the corrected projection position after collision check. The resulting end position is the falling entity now rests ON the floor--that is, in a consistent state of collision by sharing it's bottom X axis with the floor's top X axis. My current update loop looks like the following: // figure out forces & accelerations and project an objects next position // check collision occurrence from current position -> projected position // if a collision occurs, adjust projection position Which seems to be working for the scenario of my object falling to the floor. However, the situation becomes sticky when trying to figure out scenario's B & C. In scenario B, I'm attempt to move along the floor on the X axis (player is pressing right direction button) additionally, gravity is pulling the object into the floor. The problem is, when the object attempts to move the collision detection code is going to recognize that the object is already colliding with the floor to begin with, and auto correct any movement back to where it was before. In scenario C, I'm attempting to jump off the floor. Again, because the object is already in a constant collision with the floor, when the collision routine checks to make sure moving from current position to projected position doesn't result in a collision, it will fail because at the beginning of the motion, the object is already colliding. How do you allow movement along the edge of an object? How do you allow movement away from an object you are already colliding with. Extra Info My collision routine is based on AABB sweeping test from an old gamasutra article, http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3383/simple_intersection_tests_for_games.php?page=3 My bounding box implementation is based on top left/bottom right instead of midpoint/extents, so my min/max functions are adjusted. Otherwise, here is my bounding box class with collision routines: public class BoundingBox { public XYZ topLeft; public XYZ bottomRight; public BoundingBox(float x, float y, float z, float w, float h, float d) { topLeft = new XYZ(); • SQL Rally Pre-Con: Data Warehouse Modeling – Making the Right Choices

    - by Davide Mauri
    As you may have already learned from my old post or Adam’s or Kalen’s posts, there will be two SQL Rally in North Europe. In the Stockholm SQL Rally, with my friend Thomas Kejser, I’ll be delivering a pre-con on Data Warehouse Modeling: Data warehouses play a central role in any BI solution. It's the back end upon which everything in years to come will be created. For this reason, it must be rock solid and yet flexible at the same time. To develop such a data warehouse, you must have a clear idea of its architecture, a thorough understanding of the concepts of Measures and Dimensions, and a proven engineered way to build it so that quality and stability can go hand-in-hand with cost reduction and scalability. In this workshop, Thomas Kejser and Davide Mauri will share all the information they learned since they started working with data warehouses, giving you the guidance and tips you need to start your BI project in the best way possible?avoiding errors, making implementation effective and efficient, paving the way for a winning Agile approach, and helping you define how your team should work so that your BI solution will stand the test of time. You'll learn: Data warehouse architecture and justification Agile methodology Dimensional modeling, including Kimball vs. Inmon, SCD1/SCD2/SCD3, Junk and Degenerate Dimensions, and Huge Dimensions Best practices, naming conventions, and lessons learned Loading the data warehouse, including loading Dimensions, loading Facts (Full Load, Incremental Load, Partitioned Load) Data warehouses and Big Data (Hadoop) Unit testing Tracking historical changes and managing large sizes With all the Self-Service BI hype, Data Warehouse is become more and more central every day, since if everyone will be able to analyze data using self-service tools, it’s better for him/her to rely on correct, uniform and coherent data. Already 50 people registered from the workshop and seats are limited so don’t miss this unique opportunity to attend to this workshop that is really a unique combination of years and years of experience! http://www.sqlpass.org/sqlrally/2013/nordic/Agenda/PreconferenceSeminars.aspx See you there!

  • GAPI output doesn't match Google Analytics website

    - by Yekver
    I have to get the main info about my Google Analytics Goals. I'm using GAPI lib, with this code: <?php require_once 'conf.inc'; require_once 'gapi.class.php'; $ga = new gapi(ga_email,ga_password); $dimensions = array('pagePath', 'hostname'); $metrics = array('goalCompletionsAll', 'goalConversionRateAll', 'goalValueAll'); $ga->requestReportData(ga_profile_id, $dimensions, $metrics, '-goalCompletionsAll', '', '2012-09-07', '2012-10-07', 1, 500); $gaResults = $ga->getResults(); foreach($gaResults as $result) { var_dump($result); } cut this code is output: object(gapiReportEntry)[7] private 'metrics' => array (size=3) 'goalCompletionsAll' => int 12031 'goalConversionRateAll' => float 206.93154454764 'goalValueAll' => float 0 private 'dimensions' => array (size=2) 'pagePath' => string '/catalogs.php' (length=13) 'hostname' => string 'www.example.com' (length=13) object(gapiReportEntry)[6] private 'metrics' => array (size=3) 'goalCompletionsAll' => int 9744 'goalConversionRateAll' => float 661.05834464043 'goalValueAll' => float 0 private 'dimensions' => array (size=2) 'pagePath' => string '/price.php' (length=10) 'hostname' => string 'www.example.com' (length=13) What I see on Google Analytics website on Goals URLs page with the same period of date is: Goal Completion Location Goal Completions Goal Value 1. /price.php 9,396 $0.00 2. /saloni.php 3,739 $0.00 As you can see outputs doesn't match. Why? What's wrong?

  • Image resolution not showing up in "Get info" dialog in Mac OS X

    - by R.A
    When I bought a Mac Mini with Mac OS X, I could show image dimensions in the Get Info dialog. After that, I installed some mobile application development software and later I noticed, Get Info was not showing the image dimensions anymore. I need to check the dimensions of those images to include artwork in my project. Now, I reinstalled my Mac OS X and it's working fine – it is showing the dimensions: Before that, 516x314 was missing. Why did that happen? How can I prevent it from happening again?

  • PHP Image resize - Why is the image uploaded but not resized?

    - by Hans
    BACKGROUND I have a script to upload an image. One to keep the original image and one to resize the image. 1. If the image dimensions (width & height) are within max dimensions I use a simple "copy" direct to folder UserPics. 2. If the original dimensions are bigger than max dimensions I want to resize the width and height to be within max. Both of them are uploading the image to the folder, but in case 2, the image will not be resized. QUESTION Is there something wrong with the script? Is there something wrong with the settings? SETTINGS Server: WAMP 2.0 PHP: 5.3.0 PHP.ini: GD2 enabled, Memory=128M (have tried 1000M) Tried imagetypes uploaded: jpg, jpeg, gif, and png (same result for all of them) SCRIPT //Uploaded image $filename = stripslashes($_FILES['file']['name']); //Read filetype $i = strrpos($filename,"."); if (!$i) { return ""; } $l = strlen($filename) - $i; $extension = substr($filename,$i+1,$l); $extension = strtolower($extension); //New picture name = maxid+1 (from database) $query = mysql_query("SELECT MAX(PicId) AS number FROM userpictures"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($query); $imagenumber = $row['number']+1; //New name of image (including path) $image_name=$imagenumber.'.'.$extension; $newname = "UserPics/".$image_name; //Check width and height of uploaded image list($width,$height)=getimagesize($uploadedfile); //Check memory to hold this image (added only as checkup) $imageInfo = getimagesize($uploadedfile); $requiredMemoryMB = ( $imageInfo[0] * $imageInfo[1] * ($imageInfo['bits'] / 8) * $imageInfo['channels'] * 2.5 ) / 1024; echo $requiredMemoryMB."<br>"; //Max dimensions that can be uploaded $maxwidth = 20; $maxheight = 20; // Check if dimensions shall be original if ($width > $maxwidth || $height > $maxheight) { //Make jpeg from uploaded image if ($extension=="jpg" || $extension=="jpeg" || $extension=="pjpeg" ) { $modifiedimage = imagecreatefromjpeg($uploadedfile); } elseif ($extension=="png") { $modifiedimage = imagecreatefrompng($uploadedfile); } elseif ($extension=="gif") { $modifiedimage = imagecreatefromgif($uploadedfile); } //Change dimensions if ($width > $height) { $newwidth = $maxwidth; $newheight = ($height/$width)*$newwidth; } else { $newheight = $maxheight; $newwidth = ($width/$height)*$newheight; } //Create new image with new dimensions $newdim = imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth,$newheight); imagecopyresized($newdim,$modifiedimage,0,0,0,0,$newwidth,$newheight,$width,$height); imagejpeg($modifiedimage,$newname,60); // Remove temp images imagedestroy($modifiedimage); imagedestroy($newdim); } else { // Just add picture to folder without resize (if org dim < max dim) $newwidth = $width; $newheight = $height; $copied = copy($_FILES['file']['tmp_name'], $newname); } //Add image information to the MySQL database mysql_query("SET character_set_connection=utf8", $dbh); mysql_query("INSERT INTO userpictures (PicId, Picext, UserId, Width, Height, Size) VALUES('$imagenumber', '$extension', '$_SESSION[userid]', '$newwidth', '$newheight', $size)")
