  • All of the NTFS hard links disappear, where are hardlinks stored on disk and how to recover them?

    This is Windows 7 x64 sp1 on a NTFS file system. All hardlinks within C:\Windows\System32 folder disappear, and the Windows can't boot, because even the osloader, C:\Windows\System32\boot\Winload.exe also disappeared. Nevertheless, the original files are still located in the corresponding C:\Windows\winsxs folders. After booting into the Recovery Environment, and copied one Winload.exe (x64) from other folder, Windows gave an error pointing out that "ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted or missing...its file digital signature cannot be verified" In trying to boot in Safe Mode, the message above was shown after a screen prompting "Loaded \Windows\system32\config\system" Because at this early booting stage, smss.exe was still not loaded, so there is not any dumping and logs. Based on my study, ntoskrnl.exe depends on the following files: C:\\windows\\system32\\PSHED.DLL C:\\Windows\\System32\\hal.dll C:\\Windows\\System32\\kdcom.dll C:\\Windows\\System32\\clfs.sys C:\\Windows\\System32\\ci.dll All those files above are copied from their corresponding folders and verified their md5 with a well-operating Windows 7 x64 SP1. But the booting error is still the same: "ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted or missing..." **Background:** Before the reboot, there was an windows update going on. Then something unknown happen, almost all processes were broken to run, including the windows task manager, taskmgr.exe. After mount the hard disk to other computer, it seems that all hardlinks within C:\Windows\System32 folder were gone. I tried several data recovery software, but they are not be able to find those disappeared NTFS hard links. So the question is: Where are information about those hard links stored? And how to recover them? Are they depend on some windows service or stored in the registry?

    I have two text fields in my view. I did it using IB. My problems are After entering the text in textField1 I am entering text in textField2. When I click in textField1 again the previous text is disappeared in the textField1. After entering the text in both the textFields, I need the keyboard to disappear. But, even I touched the return key in the keyboard layout or I touched the screen outside the text field the keyboard is not disappearing. How can I make this. Thank you.

  • What can cause the language bar to disappear in a win32 application?

    When I run my Win32 application the Windows language bar (which is visible in all other applications) disappears after about 5 seconds. It reappears if I quit my application or alt-tab to a different application. If I alt-tab back into my application, it disappears again after five seconds. The switch key doesn't work either. It seems as if the system somehow has concluded that my application doesn't "support" the language bar. Is there something I need to do to for the language bar to be enabled? Or something I shouldn't be doing that can cause it to disappear? The application has a single custom window (where I draw DirectX graphics). I've looked through the arguments to CreateWindow and RegisterClass as well as the window messages that I handle (instead of passing to DefWindowProc) but nothing seems to be directly related to the language bar. I've only tested this on Windows 7.

And I can't find anything about "you must always do all 4": Set the normal-state image. Set the highlighted-state image. Set the setMinimumTrackImage. Set the setMaximumTrackImage.

  • MS Access 2003: Can data disappear from records and how do I test for this and prevent it?

    Problem and about the database: Data from a record in Access 2003 database has disappeared. This database has 1 backend and 3 frontends, multiple users and is hosted on Citrix. Within this database, we have records of all clients served, ranging in the 1000s. Background info: The form for client data entry is set up with various subforms, including both a "programs enrolled" subform and a "services" subform. A client can be enrolled in multiple programs. Once enrolled in a program, services can be entered for that program area using the services subform. There are multiple fields in the services subform, one of which is a drop-down field allowing you to choose from the programs a client has been enrolled in (the list is updated for that client whenever he is enrolled in a new program). The problem details: For one specific record and one specific program area, the program has disappeared from the "programs enrolled" subform and all of the related services have disappeared from the "services" subform for a period of 3 months of data entry. However, other programs and services for this record did not disappear. Questions: Is the disappearance of data a common Access 2003 problem? Are there tests in place that can be run to see if data is disappearing and catch that data? If so, what are they? If there is specific code involved, what is it? What can be done to prevent the disappearing of data (other than using a different database)?

  • Why does the screen resolution of 1440x900 suddenly disappear from Intel GMA Control Panel?

    I'm using a Vostro 1200 laptop with the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset powering its graphics and running Vista 32-bit SP2. I've been using the Vostro with a Dell SE198WFP LCD Monitor as the external display since day one for about two years without any problems. Recently, I plugged the Vostro into a couple of other monitors. The problem is, now the native resolution for my main monitor's (the SE198WFP) resolution of 1440x900 @ 60 Hz is no longer available. (See below) I've tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling the Intel drivers as well as the monitor drivers to no avail. I've goggled this problem and it appears that this has happened to other people but all the answers involve people giving up in frustration or reinstalling; both terrible outcomes. Has anybody ever figured why this happens and have a good solution? UPDATE: This dude has a complicated solution, which I haven't tried yet. His explanations for the problem was After an exausting search for an answer to the matter of why my brand new 19? widescreen monitor’s native resolution (1440×900) was unavailible (sic) in the display properties, I finally stumbled upon an article a person posted on Intel’s forums that basically explained what shannanigans Intel had been up to with their GMA 950 line of onboard graphic solutions. Not very comforting.

  • How can I uninstall Broadcom Bluetooth software that won't disappear in Windows XP?

    My situation is similar to this question for Windows 7, except my OS is Windows XP SP3. I have recently realized I made the mistake of buying a Bluetooth adapter and installing the Broadcom/Widcomm Bluetooth stack driver software. Now that I know that the software is no good, I want to uninstall it. Then I'll install the Toshiba stack for the Cirago adapter. Right now, when I double-click on the setup.exe file that came with the Cirago driver, nothing happens (it doesn't start setup). I've attempted to uninstall all Bluetooth driver software in Device Manager, and I don't see any remnants of any Bluetooth drivers there. But I do see that the little Bluetooth icon still persists: I don't see anything about Bluetooth, Broadcom, or Widcomm in Add/Remove Programs. I don't see any folder names Broadcom or Widcomm in Program Files folder, either. But I do see that Broadcom does show up in the registry with respect to Bluetooth, as shown here. I also renamed every file in C:\Windows\inf that starts with "bth" so that it ends with ".old". What should I do now to completely wipe this persistent Broadcom Bluetooth software off my computer?

  • Why does the Mac OS X firewall dialog recurringly pop-up and disappear by itself (without letting me

    From time to time, I'll be on my Macbook using a program that accesses the network – whether Firefox, or Sony's Reader Library – really, it seems like it could happen with any program that accesses the network – and for no reason that I can discern so far (that is, it happens intermittently) the OS X firewall dialog pops up to ask me the question: Except it doesn't actually let me click anything before it disappears! That is: the dialog pops up, ... then goes away by itself a second later, then pops up again, ... then goes away by itself a second later, etc. It happens a few times before stopping. It wouldn't be so maddening to be interrupted if I could just be allowed to click "Allow" and make the darn thing go away for good. In Security preferences I have the firewall turned "On", and I would like to keep it that way. Has anybody seen this problem, found the source, and figured out a solution or workaround? Thank you.

    One of the more annoying bugs in Windows XP is the tendency for the Task Manager icon to not show up in the tray (aka the notification area). Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and it's not consistent enough to have an obvious cause. Looking on Google turns up a bunch of forums that have the same problem but no working solution. Why does the task manager icon sometimes not show up? How can I repair it when this happens (how can make it show up when it's missing)? How can I prevent it from not working in the first place, so that I don't have to worry about repairing it after the fact?

    i'm using the Win32 progress dialog. The damnest thing is that when i call: progressDialog.StopProgressDialog(); it doesn't disappear. It stays on screen until the user moves her mouse over it - then it suddenly disappers. The symptom is similar to what Raymond Chen described once, which has to do with the incorrect use of PeekMessage followed by MsgWaitForMultipleObjects: "Sometimes my program gets stuck and reports one fewer record than it should. I have to jiggle the mouse to get the value to update. After a while longer, it falls two behind, then three..." But that would mean that the failure is in IProgressDialog, since it fails equally well on CLR .NET WinForms and native Win32 code.

  • Why does Facebook iOS dialog for feed publish disappear after login?

    I'm trying to use the Facebook iOS "feed" dialog call to allow my app's user to share something on their Facebook wall. When the facebook app is not installed, it attempts to let them authenticate within the app (presumably using a web view). The issue is that this dialog just disappears once they authenticate. I was expecting the web view to return to the "feed" sharing view. How do I detect that they authenticated so that I can re-open the feed dialog? I've added fbDidLogin to my app delegate, but it's not being called. (I wasn't sure if this would normally be called or not, but I read several people recommending this.)   • AdMob ad in iPhone app makes App content disappear when "done" is pressed!

    Hello All, When I return from an adMob ad by hitting "done" the content of my app has disappeared ! All that remains is a background image I had attached directly to the main window. Oddly I can still hear the result of my touch events from my main screen (which is now gone). This may be related to the issue some people have had regarding a 20 pixel move involving the toolbar...I see something to that effect as the ad starts to overlay. I have admob in another app that is working fine, and I notice when the ad opens in that app the ad content fills the whole screen EXCEPT the top toolbar (it starts right under it). In the new app I'm working on right now this isn't the case. When the ad starts to open I see the tool bar vanish, then the add comes in and fills the entire screen (including the area where the tool bar was); then when I click done and the the ad goes away everything under it is gone as well. It may be worth noting that the App I had working was 2.x and the current app is 3.x (and thus using the admob 3.0 libraries). This is very odd and deal-breaking; I need help ASAP The relevant part of my view hierarchy is as follows: AppDelegate - ViewController - MainView (Ad is in here) There are also some other Views that are children of the ViewController and a UITabbar is also a subview of the ViewController (programmatically declared, not a UITabBar Controller). Any help you can offer would be extremely appreciate...I need to resolve this issue ASAP, release in two days! Thanks!!

It seems though that every so often when I build a release it has strange errors in it which are resolved if I build, then compile, then build, compile, etc. I've talked to another developer who thinks that this is a compiler error. This sort of degrading performance over time has happened on other computers to us too. What does stack overflow think could be the problem.

I need that label because it is set programatically in code that follows.     I have a Unit test project for my Application using DUnit framework. This project have a unit surrounded by a $IFDEF to output test-results in a xml file instead of the gui or just command line. XML_OUTPUT define is enabled by switching the Build configuration. program DelphiCodeToDoc_Tests; uses TestFramework, TextTestRunner, Sysutils, Forms, GUITestRunner, {$IFDEF XML_OUTPUT} XmlTestRunner2 in 'DUnit_addon\XmlTestRunner2.pas', {$ENDIF} DCTDSetupTests in 'IntegrationTests\DCTDSetupTests.pas', ... This works perfectly. The issue starts when I'm adding a new unit to this project from the IDE (a new unit with 'FileNewUnit'). The Test project is now : uses TestFramework, TextTestRunner, Sysutils, Forms, GUITestRunner, DCTDSetupTests in 'IntegrationTests\DCTDSetupTests.pas', ... MyNewUnit in 'IntegrationTests\MyNewUnit.pas'; As you see, the test XML_OUTPUT has disappeared ... Each time I'm adding a unit, Delphi IDE deletes this test. Do you know why and how I can avoid it ?

    I am attempting to consume a SOAP service provided by our Cisco phone system (documentation), to get the current status of a given set of phones.   • Why do some Flask session values disappear from the session after closing the browser window, but then reappear later without me adding them?

    So my understanding of Flask sessions is that I can use it like a dictionary and add values to a session by doing: session['key name'] = 'some value here' And that works fine. On a route I have the client call using AJAX post, I assign a value to the session. And it works fine. I can click on various pages of my site and the value stays in the session. If I close the browser window however, and then go back to my site, the session value I had in there is gone. So that's weird and you would think the problem is the session isn't permanent. I also implemented Flask-Openid and that uses the session to store information and that does persist if I close the browser window and open it back up again. I also checked the cookie after closing the browser window, but before going back to my site, and the cookie is indeed still there. Another odd piece of behaviour (which may be related) is that some values I have written to the session for testing purposes will go away when I access the AJAX post route and assign the correct value. So that is odd, but what is truly weird is that when I then close the browser window and open it up again, and have thus lost the value I was trying to retain, the ones that I lost previously actually return! They aren't being reassigned because there's no code in my Python files to reassign those values. Here is some outputs to helper make it clearer. They are all outputed from a route for a real page, and not the AJAX post route I mentioned above. This is the output after I have assigned the value I want to store in the session. The value key is 'userid' - all the other values are dummy ones I have added in trying to solve this problem. 'userid': 8 will stay in the session as long as I don't close the browser window. I can access other routes and the value will stay there just like it should. ['session.=', <SecureCookieSession {'userid': 8, 'test_variable_num': 102, 'adding using before request': 'hi', '_permanent': True, 'test_variable_text': 'hi!'}>] If I do close the browser window, and go back into the site, but without redoing the AJAX post request, I get this output: ['session.=', <SecureCookieSession {'adding using before request': 'hi', '_permanent': True, 'yo': 'yo'}>] The 'yo' value was not in the first first output. I don't know where it came from. I searched my code for 'yo' and there is no instances of me assigning that value anywhere. I think I may have added it to the session days ago. So it seems like it is persisting, but being hidden when the other values are written. And this last one is me accessing the AJAX post route again, and then going to the page that prints out the keys using debug. Same output as the first output I pasted above, which you would expect, and the 'yo' value is gone again (but it will come back if I close the browser window) ['session.=', <SecureCookieSession {'userid': 8, 'test_variable_num': 102, 'adding using before request': 'hi', '_permanent': True, 'test_variable_text': 'hi!'}>] I tested this in both Chrome and Firefox. So I find this all weird and I am guessing it stems from a misunderstanding of how sessions work. I think they're dictionaries and I can write dictionary values into them and retrieve them days later as long as I set the session to permanent and the cookie doesn't get deleted. Any ideas why this weird behaviour is happening?

  • ProgressDialog does not disappear after executing dismiss, hide or cancel?

    Hello, I have an Overlay extension which has 2 dialogs as private attributes - one Dialog and one ProgressDialog. After clicking on the Overlay in the MapView, the Dialog object appears. When the user clicks a button in the Dialog it disappears and the ProgressDialog is shown. Simultaneously a background task is started by notifying a running Service. When the task is done, a method (buildingLoaded) in the Overlay object is called to switch the View and to dismiss the ProgressDialog. The View is being switched, the code is being run (I checked with the debugger) but the ProgressDialog is not dismissed. I also tried hide() and cancel() methods, but nothing works. Can somebody help me?     I have a MPMoviePlayerController in a view, something like myMovie = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:URLfilme]; if (myMovie) { [myMovie setRepeatMode:MPMovieRepeatModeNone]; [myMovie setShouldAutoplay: NO]; [myMovie setScalingMode:MPMovieScalingModeAspectFit]; myMovie.view.frame = vFilme.bounds; [vFilme addSubview:[myMovie view]]; } The movie appears fine, I can scrub it, but when I press play, boooom, it vanishes. I have tried to retain myMovie but nothing changed. I have tried to play a video fullscreen and even using MPMoviePlayerViewController and is still disappears once I tap on play. Even the video player sample by Apple is not working. Is this a bug or what? EDIT Things are getting more interesting. If instead of playing the video manually by tapping on the play button I insert two timers, one to play the video and another one to pause it after 3 seconds, what I see is this: when the play is fired the video disappears and when the pause is fired the video reappears but when it does it has no controls. It is totally frozen, but the app continues to run normally. It is not anything related to video encoding, because I have tried with different videos, including one shot on the iPhone 4 and another shot on 3GS.
