  • Editing a command-line argument to create a new variable

    I have a bash script called test.sh that uses command-line argument: lynx -dump $1 > $name".txt" But I need name to be created from the argument by specific keywords in the argument. An example is: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2412941,00.asp http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2412919,00.asp Both are two separate articles but are the difference can only be seen in those 12 characters. How do I create a variable from a url for those 12 characters? So that when I run test.sh in Terminal: ./test.sh http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2412941,00.asp there is a text file saved as 0,2817,2412941,00?

  • Editing gtk theme (adding a border)

    I am using a GTK theme which I love except that it doesn't have borders around the windows. If I am on a web page (for example) with a white background and my wallpaper is white I don't know where the web page starts. What is worse, sometimes that type of thing happens with other windows, where I can't tell where the one window start and the other ends. Is there a way to edit GTK themes? More specifically, is there a way to edit a theme so that it will display a border around windows?

  • Enable editing does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath ??

    Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ?   • Can folks that edit tags make sure they preserve the information that they would be editing away?

    I have notice that some folks edit the tags associated with questions to make the tag more generic, like converting netbeans6.8-netbeans. I think this is a good thing. BUT, most users/askers do not include version info in the text of their question and some of them do pick the 'versioned' tag. That additional info is valuable at that point. Please read the question before you edit version info out of tags. If the version info is not in the question's text.... take another moment to edit the text of the question, so the info is immediately available to folks that are trying to answer questions.

  • Weird Animation when inserting a row in UITableView

    I have tableview which holds a list of data, when users press "Edit" i add an extra row at the bottom saying "add new" - (void)setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated { [super setEditing:editing animated:animated]; NSArray *paths = [NSArray arrayWithObject: [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:1 inSection:0]]; if (editing) { [[self tableView] insertRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } else { [[self tableView] deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } } and of course the UITableView transform with animation, but weird thing is the row before the row that i just added, has different animation than all others. all rows perform "slides in" animation, but that 2nd last one did a "fade in" animation. and i didnt set any animation on the 2nd last row (or any other row), and if i didnt add the new row in, the animation slides in as normal when i switch to editing mode. somehow i cant find an answer, i check with contact app on my phone, it didnt have that weird animation as i have, when they adding a new row on editing mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Retain ViewData when editing variable length list

    I'm editing variable length lists and use ViewData to pass around information for filling a DropDownList. I use the method described here for editing these lists: http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2010/01/28/editing-a-variable-length-list-aspnet-mvc-2-style/ The data for this dropdownlist comes from the database. As the ViewData is not available across requests, I currently do a new query to the database each and every time. This also happens when the ModelState is not valid and the form is redisplayed. Of course, this is less then ideal even for a light-weight query as this one. How can I retain the information from that query across requests as long as the user is editing the page with that variable length list?

    I am looking to build a widget for a site which allows users to tag images from individual frames of a video file but would prefer not to have to build a custom Flash tool. Is there an existing free library or framework which simplifies things like this in a webapplication setting? Features would also involve basic video playback functionality as well as time-driven meta-data and the ability to extract images from individual video frames. Are there existing open-source web-based tools for video manipulation other than building your own custom Flash app?

  • Using sound forge 6.0 what will be the need to upgrade to latest version

    I had been using sound forge 6.0 not recently but long back. I edit mp3 files for my purpose and some more filters like flange, pan, fade in out, recording, line in recording, extracting sound from video files (mpg, avi(divx), etc...), increasing the default volume, editing treble and bass effects, and etc... I am not going to use it professionally. I use it just like that. Now when i checked i could see Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 is the latest version for my purpose. Others are too high i think. Besides, i had been using Gold Wave version 4 very extensively just to edit sound files mostly mp3. and here is the reason for me to change to sound forge. It is when we edit mp3 files it deflashes(making it raw i think) before editing. after editing if i save it asks for the format to save and i will choose mp3. At this point it again applies the compression process which makes the sound file lossy. When i did the same with sound forge it did not deflash. It just edited the file as mp3.     Hello everyone, I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows. I want to do very basic image editing, like cut a portion of an image, add some text label to the image, circle some part of the image, etc. I am downloading acornfree from this Url, but when executing acornfree, it said the Mac OS I am using is not supported.   • Force '^C' to be printed when editing current prompt, then aborting it

    This is the opposite of Prevent “^C” from being printed when aborting editing current prompt. I'm using Bash. When I'm editing the commandline in Bash, and I hit Control-C to abort the commandline, the '^C' character does not display. I would like to see this character. I tried commands like stty -ctlecho and stty ctlecho (which I borrowed from the other question), but this didn't work for me. This behavior seems to be true with my environment on Ubuntu, CentOS and MacOSX.

  • Advanced command line editing for Windows?

    I'm developer who was "born and bred" on Linux and BSD systems, and I've become accustomed to having advanced tools for the console (posix shells like bash, for example). My career has taken a twist that means I'm working in a Windows environment most of the time, and the console capabilities are really poor by comparison. The traditional windows console environment is a complete joke, and even most of the third party attempts at improving things aren't a lot better. PowerShell is a huge step in the right direction, but the console applications themselves are still way behind where unix has been for 20 years. Does anyone know of a PowerShell console application that supports advanced command line editing like posix shells do? I'm particularly interested in emacs-mode editing, and I'd also like to be able to resize my window to an arbirary size, unlike the native console app that comes with Windows.

    I have gVim installed. Under Vista and XP, this offered me an addition to either the object context menu of "Edit with gVim", or an addtion to the "Open With" context menu of "gVim". This would let me send arbitrary files to gVim for editing. Under Windows 7 64-bit, I have installed gVim -- twice, as it happens -- and there's no menu item. How do I add an option to send arbitrary files to gVim for viewing/editing?

    Question: Can anyone point to an article or code samples anywhere on how to provide BOTH editing AND range selection in a TStringGrid? Yes, I KNOW there are third-party grids that do this, but it's frustrating that the built-in grid lacks this basic capability. Background: It's pretty normal to expect to be able to both edit a cell in a grid, and also to select a range of cells such as for a Copy operation. As delivered, TStringGrid doesn't do that. It's either/or. In fact, the docs tell us about the grid Options, "When goEditing is included in Options, goRangeSelect has no effect". However, it looks like it may be possible to do editing and rangeselects in a TStringGrid anyway!!! Through careful use of the mousedown, mouseup, selectcell and exit events, you can get dang close by switching editing elements on and off at the right times. But I still don't have it perfect, and that only covers mouse use, not keyboard changes.

    I've been investigating possibilities on editing remote files from a website without having a need to download and upload the files manually while editing. So far I've ruled out WebDAV as a possibility since it is cumbersome to use on any platform (it either requires manual setup or works unreliably). Currently I'm looking in to various Applets, but they mostly target either uploading or downloading, not file editing. What I'm currently looking for is an applet that downloads the document, launches the application that is meant to open the file and then monitors the file for changes and uploads the changed file (either automatically or by prompting the user first). I know that I'm not alone with this scenario, so i'm looking for solutions that others have thought of.

Is there a text editing program where I can do multiple find/replace (or regex) at one time?   • Prevent "^C" from being printed when aborting editing current prompt

    When you're editing a prompt in bash, and then press Ctrl-C to abort it, "^C" might get printed where the cursor has been. When you were in the middle of the line, this makes copy'n'pasting more difficult and IIRC it can be configured to not display it (and overwrite parts of the command line). I do not have this problem myself (using zsh, which does not print "^C"), but ran across this in a Konsole bug report.

    Hi, Is there a way to disable time and date editing on a Windows Mobile device (via APIs or the registry)? I have an application using the time and date of a Windows Mobile PDA and I don't want the user to change it (the time and date) - unless - he/she has some kind of administrative rights. I haven't find a way to do it with the menus. Is it possible to do it in any other way? Thanks
