  • Can't get running JPA2 with Hibernate and Maven

    - by erlord
    Have been trying the whole day long and googled the ** out of the web ... in vain. You are my last hope: Here's my code: The Entity: package sas.test.model; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.Id; @Entity public class Employee { @Id private int id; private String name; private long salary; public Employee() {} public Employee(int id) { this.id = id; } public int getId() { return id; } public void setId(int id) { this.id = id; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public long getSalary() { return salary; } public void setSalary (long salary) { this.salary = salary; } } The service class: package sas.test.dao; import sas.test.model.Employee; import javax.persistence.*; import java.util.List; public class EmployeeService { protected EntityManager em; public EmployeeService(EntityManager em) { this.em = em; } public Employee createEmployee(int id, String name, long salary) { Employee emp = new Employee(id); if (emp != null) { emp.setSalary(emp.getSalary() + raise); } return emp; } public Employee findEmployee(int id) { return em.find(Employee.class, id); } } And the main class: package sas.test.main; import javax.persistence.*; import java.util.List; import sas.test.model.Employee; import sas.test.dao.EmployeeService; public class ExecuteMe { public static void main(String[] args) { EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("EmployeeService"); • Make objects slide across the screen in random positions

    - by user3475907
    I want to make an object appear randomly at the right hand side of the screen and then slide across the screen and disapear at the left hand side. I am working with libgdx. I have this bit of code but it makes items fall from the top down. Please help. public EntityManager(int amount, OrthoCamera camera) { player = new Player(new Vector2(15, 230), new Vector2(0, 0), this, camera); for (int i = 0; i < amount; i++) { float x = MathUtils.random(0, MainGame.HEIGHT - TextureManager.ENEMY.getHeight()); float y = MathUtils.random(MainGame.WIDTH, MainGame.WIDTH * 10); float speed = MathUtils.random(2, 10); addEntity(new Enemy(new Vector2(x, y), new Vector2(-0, -speed))); }

  • How should dependencies be managed across a modular application?

    - by bear
    Let's say that we have a structure like this: Application -- Modules --Module1 -- Controller -- PublicHelper --Module2 -- Controller -- PublicHelper Whereby a module's Public Helper can provide helper functions. In nearly every module helper, the helper needs to access another module's public helper methods. Let's say for instance, in a PHP application: Module1 provides functionality to create a sale, and as part of the class Module1PublicHelper extends AbstractModuleHelper { public function createSale($customerId, $param, $param) { $userPublicHelper = // grab an instance of the user public helper $currentUser = $userPublicHelper->getCurrentUser(); } } class Module2PublicHelper extends AbstractModuleHelper { public function getCurrentUser() { //do something return $user; } } In this situation, the method needs to obtain an instance, either new or whatever of the user public helper. Given that all of Module Public Helper classes are instantiated with a minimum set of constructor params, e.g. EntityManager, what would be the best way to get a copy of it? Obviously, we can't really inject the user public helper class into the class containing createSale One solution would be to use a service locator or registry, however, testing the application isn't exactly easy.

  • EJB3 - using 2 persistence units within a transaction (Exception: Local transaction already has 1 no

    - by Sorcha
    I am trying to use 2 persistence units within the same transaction in a JEE application deployed on Glassfish. The 2 persistence units are defined in persistence.xml, as follows: <persistence-unit name="BeachWater"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWater</jta-data-source> ... <persistence-unit name="LIMS"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS</jta-data-source> ... These persistence units correspond to JDBC resources and connection pools which I had defined in Glassfish as follows (include one here as both are identical apart from names & database connection info): JDBC Resource: JNDI Name: jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS Pool Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnectionPoolDataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource There are 3 stateless session beans, LimsServiceBean, AnalysisServiceBean and AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean. Here are the relevant snippets from LimsServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "LIMS") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<Sample> getLatestLIMSData() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("Sample.findBySubTypeStatus"); return new ArrayList<Sample>(q.getResultList()); } From AnalysisServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "BeachWater") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<AnalysisType> getAllAnalysisTypes() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("AnalysisType.findAll"); return new ArrayList<AnalysisType>(q.getResultList()); } And from AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean: @EJB private AnalysisService analysisService; @EJB private LimsService limsService; public void transformData() { List<AnalysisType> analysisTypes = analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes(); ArrayList<Sample> samples = limsService.getLatestLIMSData(); This call to limsService.getLatestLIMSData() caused the following exception: [exec] Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException [exec] Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Local transaction already has 1 non-XA Resource: cannot add more resources. Having consulted this page, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378484.aspx (among many others), I tried changing the definition of the connection pools to: Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXADataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.XADataSource Ping via the Glassfish admin console succeeds, but call to analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes() now throws an exception: Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: javax.transaction.SystemException Any ideas?

  • How to setup an hibernate project using annotations compliant with JPA2.0

    - by phmr
    I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans. The problem is that each time a run the application, it seems to start from a fresh database whatever db backend I use (I tried hsqldb & sqlite): here is my persistence.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <persistence version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd"> <persistence-unit name="PMMPU" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL"> <provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider> <class>model.Extrait</class> <class>model.Mot</class> <class>model.Prefixe</class> <class>model.Suffixe</class> <class>model.Texte</class> <properties> <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="dialect.SQLiteDialect"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.username" value=""/> <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class" value="org.sqlite.JDBC"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.password" value=""/> <property name="hibernate.connection.url" value="jdbc:sqlite:test.db"/> <property name="hibernate.cache.provider_class" value="org.hibernate.cache.NoCacheProvider"/> <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="update"/> </properties> </persistence-unit> </persistence> I tried to change hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto value. I got a HibernateUtil class which takes care of creating the emf & em: public class HibernateUtil { private static EntityManagerFactory emf = null; private static EntityManager em = null; public static EntityManagerFactory getEmf() { if(emf == null) emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("PMMPU"); return emf; } public static EntityManager getEm() { if(em == null) em = getEmf().createEntityManager(); return em; } What did a I do wrong ? edit1: further research with mysql lead me to think that the problem is related to sqlite & hsqldb interaction with hibernate 3.5

  • EJB3 Transaction Propogation

    - by Matt S.
    I have a stateless bean something like: @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean implements MyStatelessLocal, MyStatelessRemote { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTED) public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.process(obj); } } @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } The typically usage then is the client would call processObjects(...), which doesn't actually interact with the entity manager. It does what it needs to do and calls process(...) individually for each object to process. The duration of process(...) is relatively short, but processObjects(...) could take a very long time to run through everything. Therefore I don't want it to maintain an open transaction. I do need the individual process(...) operations to operate within their own transaction. This should be a new transaction for every call. Lastly I'd like to keep the option open for the client to call process(...) directly. I've tried a number of different transaction types: never, not supported, supported (on processObjects) and required, requires new (on process) but I get TransactionRequiredException every time merge() is called. I've been able to make it work by splitting up the methods into two different beans: @Stateless @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED) public class MyStatelessBean1 implements MyStatelessLocal1, MyStatelessRemote1 { @EJB private MyStatelessBean2 myBean2; public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.myBean2.process(obj); } } } @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean2 implements MyStatelessLocal2, MyStatelessRemote2 { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } but I'm still curious if it's possible to accomplish this in one class. It looks to me like the transaction manager only operates at the bean level, even when individual methods are given more specific annotations. So if I mark one method in a way to prevent the transaction from starting calling other methods within that same instance will also not create a transaction, no matter how they're marked? I'm using JBoss Application Server 4.2.1.GA, but non-specific answers are welcome / preferred.

  • Session Bean returning another Remote Session Bean reference [JBOSS]

    - by mrlinx
    Hi all, I have a Stateless Session Bean in my JBoss Server that contains a function returning an instance of another Session Bean (this one is stateful). My problem arises because this returned object doesn't seem to keep its persistence model (the EntityManager is null). What is the right way to return from a Session Bean another Session Bean, keeping its remote "connection"?

  • [Toplink] How to add c3p0 or DBCP Connection pool?

    - by Jean N.T.
    Hello, Could you please explain to me how to add a standalone c3pO or DBCP connection pool to my toplink-based JPA project? I have a persistence.xml file, and everytime I want to query the database, I'm doing this: EntityManagerFactory emf = this.getEntityManagerFactory(); // Surely using persistence.xml to set up the factory EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); ... Where do I build the bridge between my external connection pool manager and Toplink? Any ideas or links are welcomed. Regards, Jean

    - by stacker
    I've the same problem as described here In the generated SQL Informix expects catalog:schema.table but what's actually generated is catalog.schema.table which leads to a syntax error. Setting: hibernate.default_catalog= hibernate.default_schema= had no effect. I even removed schema and catalog from the table annotation, this caused a different issues : the query looked like that ..table same for setting catalog and schema to an empty string. I use JBoss EJB 3.0 implementation (JBoss 4.2.3 server) At the beginning I created native query all the time using construction like Query query = entityManager.createNativeQuery("select * from _table_"); Of couse it is not that efficient, I performed some tests and found out that it really takes a lot of time... Then I found a better way to deal with it, to use annotation to define native queries: @NamedNativeQuery( name = "fetchData", value = "select * from _table_", resultClass=Entity.class ) and then just use it Query query = entityManager.createNamedQuery("fetchData"); the performance of code line above is two times better than where I started from, but still not that good as I expected... then I found that I can switch to Hibernate annotation for NamedNativeQuery (anyway, JBoss's implementation of EJB is based on Hibernate), and add one more thing: @NamedNativeQuery( name = "fetchData2", value = "select * from _table_", resultClass=Entity.class, readOnly=true) readOnly - marks whether the results are fetched in read-only mode or not. It sounds good, because at least in this case of mine I don't need to update data, I wanna just fetch it for report. When I started server to measure performance I noticed that query without readOnly=true (by default it is false) returns result with each iteration better and better, and at the same time another one (fetchData2) works like "stable" and with time difference between them is shorter and shorter, and after 5 iterations speed of both was almost the same... The questions are: 1) is there any other way to speed query using up? Seems that named queries should be prepared once, but I can't say it... In fact if to create query once and then just use it it would be better from performance point of view, but it is problematic to cache this object, because after creating query I can set parameters (when I use ":variable" in query), and it changes query object (isn't it?). well, is here any way to cache them? Or named query is the best option I can use? 2) any other approaches how to make results retrieveng faster. I mean, for instance I don't need those Entities to be attached, I won't update them, all I need is just fetch collection of data. Maybe readOnly is the only available way, so I can't speed it up, but who knows :) P.S. I don't ask about DB performance, all I need now is how not to create query all the time, so use it efficient, and to "allow" EJB to do less job with the same result concerning data returning.

  • JPA: what is the proper pattern for iterating over large result sets?

    - by Caffeine Coma
    Let's say I have a table with millions of rows. Using JPA, what's the proper way to iterate over a query against that table, such that I don't have all an in-memory List with millions of objects? I suspect that the following will blow up if the table is large: List<Model> models = entityManager().createQuery("from Model m", Model.class).getResultList(); for (Model model : models) { // do something with model } Is pagination (looping and manually updating setFirstResult()/setMaxResult()) really the best solution?

  • Force update in Hibernate

    - by gubrutz
    How can I force Hibernate to update an entity instance even if the entity is not dirty? I'm using Hibernate 3.3.2 GA, Hibernate Annotations and Hibernate EntityManager btw. I really want Hibernate to execute the generic UPDATE statement even if no property on the entity has changed. I need this because some event listeners need to get invoked to do some additional work when the application runs for the first time. Thanks!

  • JPA thinks I'm deleting a detached object

    - by Steve
    So, I've got a DAO that I used to load and save my domain objects using JPA. I finally managed to get the transaction stuff working (with a bunch of help from the folks here...), now I've got another issue. In my test case, I call my DAO to load a domain object with a given id, check that it got loaded and then call the same DAO to delete the object I just loaded. When I do that I get the following: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Removing a detached instance mil.navy.ndms.conops.common.model.impl.jpa.Group#10 at org.hibernate.ejb.event.EJB3DeleteEventListener.performDetachedEntityDeletionCheck(EJB3DeleteEventListener.java:45) at org.hibernate.event.def.DefaultDeleteEventListener.onDelete(DefaultDeleteEventListener.java:108) at org.hibernate.event.def.DefaultDeleteEventListener.onDelete(DefaultDeleteEventListener.java:74) at org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl.fireDelete(SessionImpl.java:794) at org.hibernate.impl.SessionImpl.delete(SessionImpl.java:772) at org.hibernate.ejb.AbstractEntityManagerImpl.remove(AbstractEntityManagerImpl.java:253) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:48) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:37) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:600) at org.springframework.orm.jpa.SharedEntityManagerCreator$SharedEntityManagerInvocationHandler.invoke(SharedEntityManagerCreator.java:180) at $Proxy27.remove(Unknown Source) at mil.navy.ndms.conops.common.dao.impl.jpa.GroupDao.delete(GroupDao.java:499) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:48) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:37) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:600) at org.springframework.aop.support.AopUtils.invokeJoinpointUsingReflection(AopUtils.java:304) at org.springframework.aop.framework.ReflectiveMethodInvocation.invokeJoinpoint(ReflectiveMethodInvocation.java:182) at org.springframework.aop.framework.ReflectiveMethodInvocation.proceed(ReflectiveMethodInvocation.java:149) at org.springframework.transaction.interceptor.TransactionInterceptor.invoke(TransactionInterceptor.java:106) at org.springframework.aop.framework.ReflectiveMethodInvocation.proceed(ReflectiveMethodInvocation.java:171) at org.springframework.aop.framework.JdkDynamicAopProxy.invoke(JdkDynamicAopProxy.java:204) at $Proxy28.delete(Unknown Source) at mil.navy.ndms.conops.common.dao.impl.jpa.GroupDaoTest.testGroupDaoSave(GroupDaoTest.java:89) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:48) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:37) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:600) at junit.framework.TestCase.runTest(TestCase.java:164) at junit.framework.TestCase.runBare(TestCase.java:130) at junit.framework.TestResult$1.protect(TestResult.java:106) at junit.framework.TestResult.runProtected(TestResult.java:124) at junit.framework.TestResult.run(TestResult.java:109) at junit.framework.TestCase.run(TestCase.java:120) at junit.framework.TestSuite.runTest(TestSuite.java:230) at junit.framework.TestSuite.run(TestSuite.java:225) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.junit3.JUnit3TestReference.run(JUnit3TestReference.java:130) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.TestExecution.run(TestExecution.java:38) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.RemoteTestRunner.runTests(RemoteTestRunner.java:460) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.RemoteTestRunner.runTests(RemoteTestRunner.java:673) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.RemoteTestRunner.run(RemoteTestRunner.java:386) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.junit.runner.RemoteTestRunner.main(RemoteTestRunner.java:196) Now given that I'm using the same DAO instance, and I've not changed EntityManagers (unless Spring does so without letting me know), how can this be a detached object? My DAO code looks like this: public class GenericJPADao implements IWebDao, IDao, IDaoUtil { private static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger (GenericJPADao.class); protected Class voClass; @PersistenceContext(unitName = "CONOPS_PU") protected EntityManagerFactory emf; @PersistenceContext(unitName = "CONOPS_PU") protected EntityManager em; public GenericJPADao() { super ( ); ParameterizedType genericSuperclass = (ParameterizedType) getClass ( ).getGenericSuperclass ( ); this.voClass = (Class) genericSuperclass.getActualTypeArguments ( )[1]; } ... public void delete (INTFC modelObj, EntityManager em) { em.remove (modelObj); } @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public INTFC findById (Long id) { return ((INTFC) em.find (voClass, id)); } } The test case code looks like: IGroup loadedGroup = dao.findById (group.getId ( )); assertNotNull (loadedGroup); assertEquals (group.getId ( ), loadedGroup.getId ( )); dao.delete (loadedGroup); // - This generates the above exception loadedGroup = dao.findById (group.getId ( )); assertNull(loadedGroup); Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks

  • Entity System with C++

    - by Dono
    I'm working on a game engine using the Entity System and I have some questions. How I see Entity System : Components : A class with attributs, set and get. Sprite Physicbody SpaceShip ... System : A class with a list of components. (Component logic) EntityManager Renderer Input Camera ... Entity : Just a empty class with a list of components. What I've done : Currently, I've got a program who allow me to do that : // Create a new entity/ Entity* entity = game.createEntity(); // Add some components. entity->addComponent( new TransformableComponent() ) ->setPosition( 15, 50 ) ->setRotation( 90 ) ->addComponent( new PhysicComponent() ) ->setMass( 70 ) ->addComponent( new SpriteComponent() ) ->setTexture( "name.png" ) ->addToSystem( new RendererSystem() ); My questions Did the system stock a list of components or a list of entities ? In the case where I stock a list of entities, I need to get the component of this entities on each frame, that's probably heavy isn't it ? Did the system stock a list of components or a list of entities ? In the case where I stock a list of entities, I need to get the component of this entities on each frame, that's probably heavy isn't it ?
