    Hi guys I have an ASP.Net MVC app using Integrated Security that I need to be able grant open access to a specific route. The route in question is '~/Agreements/Upload' and the config I have setup looks like this: <configuration> ... <location path="~/Agreements/Upload"> <system.web> <authorization> <allow users="*"/> </authorization> </system.web> </location> ... </configuration> I have tried a few things and nothing has worked thus far. In IIS under Directory Security Authentication Methods I only have "Integrated Windows Authentication" selected. Now this could be part of my problem (as even though IIS allows the above IIS doesn't). But if that's the case how do I configure it so that Integrated Security works but allows people who aren't authenticated to access the given route. Cheers Anthony

  • Use external display from boot on Samsung laptop

    I have a Samsung RV511 laptop, and recently my screen broke. I connected an external screen and it works fine, but only after Windows starts. I want to be able to use the external screen right from boot, in order to set the BIOS to boot from DVD, and to then install a different OS and also format the hard drive. Right now I can only use the screen when Windows loads. What I've tried: I've tried opening up the laptop and disconnecting the display to make it only find the external and use the VGA as default -- didn't work. I've tried using the Fn+key combo in BIOS to connect external display - nothing I've been looking around for ways to change boot sequence without entering BIOS, but it doesn't look like it's possible. Possible solutions? A way to change boot sequence without entering BIOS? Someone with the same brand/similar model to help me blindly keystroke the correct arrows/F5/F6 buttons while in BIOS mode to change boot sequence? A way to force the external display to work from boot, through modifying the internal connections (I have no problem taking the laptop apart if needed, please no soldering though), through BIOS or program? Also, if I change boot sequence without accessing external screen, would the Ubuntu 12.1 installation sequence attempt to use the external screen or would I only be able to use it after Linux is installed and running? I'd really appreciate help, I can't afford to fix the screen for a few months from now, and I'd really like to make my computer come back to decent performance! Thanks in advance!

I have to be able to allow admin create users and roles, assign users to roles and define access to controls on form for specified roles (button enabled/disabled etc). It done well with normal website but with some 4rum that require authorization such as warez-bb.org, it always return the HTML of the login page. I wonder if there is a way to send the username and password to the WebClient?

  • Folder missing in external hard drive

    I have been backing up my folders, I am using Seagate Expansion portable Drive. I had created a folder called "|o|o" in the root folder of the portable drive... I copied my latest folders into "|o|o" folder to re-install ubuntu. When I open the portable drive the folder |o|o is not visible, when I ctrl+a and check properties the space used is 122GB, however when I click on the drive to view properties of the drive used space is 260GB. It looks as if the folder is there in the portable drive but I cannot access it... I have tried to view all the hidden files and "|o|o" is still not there. I am using 12.04.Can you please help me to retrieve this folder.

  • External Hard disk not workng on windows after I formatted it on Ubuntu

    I formatted my Western Digital 500 Gb hard disk on Ubuntu 10.4 and now I want to use it on Windows 7 but it cannot detect it. I formatted it with FAT(applicable to all) option. I tried to Google this problem a bit and as suggested by one of the site i tried to format this drive with NTFS. Still windows cannot detect it. Drives in windows 7 is not a problem because I tried a different usb drive on it and it works. I can see the led of the drive glow when I connect it and I can also see remove drive safely option in lower right corner, but i cannot see any option in "my computer" to access the hard disk. I am new to Ubuntu. Any help is appreciated.

  • Performing centralized authorization for multiple applications

    Here's a question that I have been wrestling with for a while. We have a situation wherein we have a number of applications that we have created. These have grown organically over a period of time. All of these applications have permissions code built into them that controls access to various parts of the application depending on whether the currently logged in user has the necessary permissions or not. Alongside these applications is a utility application which allows an administrator to map users to permissions for all applications - the way it works is that every application has code which reads this external database of the said utility application to check if the currently logged in user has the necessary permission or not. Now, the question is this. Should the user-permissions mapping information reside in and be owned by the applications themselves, or is it okay to have this information reside within an external entity/DB (as in this case the utility application's database). Part of me thinks that application permissions are very specific to the application context itself, so shouldn't be separated from the application itself. But I am not sure. Any comments?

However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role?     Hi, I have a little problem with declarative-authorization. I have a User and Role Model with a has_and_belongs_to_many association. I've created a Role named :moderator in my authorization_rules.rb Is it possible that a User with the Role Moderator only gets the Users that have the Moderator Role assigned to it?? -- User.with_permissions_to(:index) I thought it would be possible like that: role :moderator do has_permission_on :users, :to => :index do if_attribute :roles => contains { ????? } end end I also created a named_scope in my User Model because I thought it would help... class User has_and_belongs_to_many :roles named_scope :by_role, lambda { |role| { :include => :roles, :conditions => {"roles.name" => role} } } end Does anyone knows if it's possible to do this with declarative_authorization? If i change the file changing to the following: [groups] todos = user1, user2 proj = user1 [/] @todos = rw [/myproj] @proj = rw I can successful commit... Anyone knows what's wrong with my access file? I am using SVN with SVNParentPath, to point to a folder containing multiple repositories.     Hello everyone, Seems there is an abundance of popular declarative-style authorization plugins, which allow you to somehow state in the code that, e.g., this controller action can be accessed by users with such-and-such roles. But what if I need a more dynamic scheme. I want to have an admin area, with a list of all authorizable actions and an ability to assign permissions on actions from the UI. I have ideas how to implement it from scratch, like to define a model corresponding to a controller and/or action and store the permissions via normal associations.     Per the Agile Development book, I have an Admin MVC that controls how users log in. In ApplicationController, I have a before_filter that checks for authorization. So, this will check that the user has logged in for every page. The problem is that I want everyone to be able to access the new method, for example, in Users (that is, anyone should be able to create a new user -- naturally! Only admin users should have access to the other methods in UsersController such as edit, etc.). What's the best way to do that?

  • Laptop screen is cracked, external monitor only mirroring the broken laptop screen

    I did something stupid. When my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop screen cracked and went all crazy and I couldn't see anything, I attached it to an external monitor and pressed Fn + F5 and it worked. But then I did something in the control panel that made the external screen look similar to the laptop screen. That made the external screen completely unusable too. In the control panel it was the last tab – something with "dual screens" I think. Is there anyway to reverse what did, turn off the laptop screen permanently and turn the external monitor into the primary? Remember that I can't see anything on the laptop screen. It is a complete goner – and because of what I did I can't see anything on the external monitor.

  • Not able to access external Hard disk

    I have a 1TB External Hard drive which I'm currently not able to access. When I open the External drive in Finder, It shows it's empty. When I use the option to "Get Info", I get the dialog box stating it has about 300GB Free. Tried to get into the External Drive using Terminal, I had no luck. Checking in Disk Utility, It showed that I have many number of files but ZERO folder. I tried to "repair disk", in the process the external Drive got unmounted in between the process. I checked this drive on Windows. I was able to open almost all the folders but I wasn't able to copy anything onto the external drive. One folder caused my windows computer to hang, So i connected the drive back onto my MacBook Pro and tried to access the drive through terminal (this time it worked!) and then I tried to delete the folder with rm command, I got an "input/output error" What should i do to recover the files in that folder? How can i access my external drive on my mac

  • Disable laptop's display on boot when used with external display

    I keep my laptop tucked away and solely use an external display with it via HDMI. In Windows 7 display settings, I have it set up to "Show desktop only on 2 [my external display]" This works fine in all cases except when I boot the laptop when the external display is already connected. In that case, the laptop's display stays on and sticks at the Windows 7 boot logo unless I manually shut the display off. (I should mention that while the laptop's display is stuck at the boot logo, the external monitor and computer are running just fine.) The laptop is an Asus N56VZ with Nvidia 650m graphics and the latest drivers. I've checked Nvidia's control panel as well as the BIOS and nothing looked very promising. Any ideas as to how I can get my laptop screen to shut itself off after booting into Windows?

MySQL service stoped and we could not reach the server. Then we opened the storage unit and we could not start service until we reconfigured MySQL. We made storage unit offline from operating system. After 3-4 minutes and some insert trials(some insert trials succeded) MySQL service stoped and we could not reach the server. Then we made storage unit online and we could start the service(not automatically). In Windows Server 2003 We made storage unit offline. After 3-4 minutes and some insert trials(some insert trials succeded) MySQL service stoped and we could not reach the server. Then we made storage unit online we could not start the service until we reinstalled MySQL. Before reinstall we tried to reconfigure but it did not work. We closed external storage physically. MySQL service stoped and we could not reach the server. After that we opened the storage unit and we could start service(not automatically) We expect service to autostart after storage unit is online/open. But these tests show unstable behaviors. Is there any solutions to this.

  • Grounded outlet on external hard drive.

    Is there any value in getting an external hard drive with a grounded power supply? Would grounding the drive protect it from a static jolt from my hand when I pick it up? I've only really ever used the huge 5.25" external housings (they usually have an integrated power supply and use the standard heavy PSU cable with ground), and I need some more but noticed while shopping that the current trend is towards smaller enclosures with the external brick (and hardly ever grounded).
