Gems install fine but don't show as installed under rake gems

Another thing is that I really tried to figure this out. There's a bunch of people saying clean up local gems in your user account, always install with sudo, etc. But I've tried all that. Ubiquity CmdUtils.setSelection won't replace HTML

I'm attempting to write a Ubiquity command that allows you to replace a selected link or URL pointing to an image with that image itself. However, the CmdUtils.setSelection() function (documented here) seems to do nothing if any html tags are present in the selection, making it useless for replacing any links. When selecting plain text, it functions exactly as intended, replacing the text with an <img src="text"/> tag. Is there something I'm missing, or will this function simply not allow me to replace html? If the latter is the case, is there a function or method that will allow me to do this? Any other advice is welcome as well! (solved) jQuery click and drag/scroll window: jagged movement

Edit: derp, using pageX/Y instead of clientX/Y -- apparently scrollBy expects input with that offset rather than the other. Jaggy movement gone. I am getting jagged movement when doing small scroll increments using the following bindings. Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to smooth this out? FYI, its intermittent. It seems like, if I click and hold for a second, then drag at a decent speed there are no problems. Edit: What the hell? I get this output on debug... obvious jog backwards and forwards. Android - Widget to Play Video (onclick trouble)

I am trying to make a simple widget that will play a movie from the sdcard when clicked on. This seems simple enough, and by following tutorials I've come up with the following code, but it seems the onclick is never setup. Layering Cocoa WebView - Drawing on top?

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1618498/webview-in-core-animation-layer The only other thread I can find is the above which doesn't necessarily fit my needs. Is there a reliable way to simply draw a view on top of a webview? I've tried to layer a regular NSView on top of WebView, and it draws right at first, but any movement in the webview (scrolling the page etc) appears to invalidate the view and produces visual artifacts. I've tried: [[[NSApp mainWindow] contentView] addSubview:view positioned:NSWindowAbove relativeTo:webView]; No luck there, same problems -- z-ordering doesn't seem to work unless I'm missing something. Is this just a limitation of webviews? I also tried implementing the view above as a window, which worked much better (just controlled the location of the window programmatically). However, the desired behavior is for the user to enter some text into this window, but for it not to steal "focus" -- ie the main window goes inactive (the x - + go gray) when the user clicks on the text field in the new window. Any way to avoid that? I've tried subclassing NSWindow and overriding canBecomeKey (return YES) and canBecomeMain (return NO) but the window still steals focus. Josh

Get notified when objective-c dom updates are ready initiated from webview

I am programmatically updating the DOM on a WebKit webview via DOMElement objects - for complex UI, there is usually a javascript component to any element that I add. This begs the need to be notified when the updates complete -- is there any such event? I know regular divs dont fire an onload or onready event, correct? The other assumption I had, which may be totally wrong, is that DOMElement updates aren't synchronous, so I can't do something like this and be confident it will meet with the label actually in the DOM: DOMElement *displayNameLabel = [document createElement:@"div"]; [displayNameLabel setAttribute:@"class" value:@"user-display-name"]; [displayNameLabel setTextContent:currentAvatar.avatarData.displayName]; [[document getElementById:@"user-card-content"] appendChild:displayNameLabel]; id win = [webView windowScriptObject]; [win evaluateWebScript:@"javascriptInstantiateLabel()"]; Is this true? Lucene (.NET) Document stucture and performance suggestions.

Hello, I am indexing about 100M documents that consist of a few string identifiers and a hundred or so numaric terms.. I won't be doing range queries, so I haven't dugg too deep into Numaric Field but I'm not thinking its the right choose here. My problem is that the query performance degrades quickly when I start adding OR criteria to my query.. All my queries are on specific numaric terms.. So a document looks like StringField:[someString] and N DataField:[someNumber].. I then query it with something like DataField:((+1 +(2 3)) (+75 +(3 5 52)) (+99 +88 +(102 155 199))). Currently these queries take about 7 to 16 seconds to run on my laptop.. I would like to make sure thats really the best they can do.. I am open to suggestions on field structure and query structure :-). Assistance with Lua functions

As noted before, I'm relatively new to lua, but again, I learn quick. The last time I got help here, it helped me immensely, and I was able to write a better script. Now I've come to another question that I think will make my life a bit easier. I have no clue what I'm doing with functions, but I'm hoping there is a way to do what I want to do here. Below, you'll see an example of code I have to do to strip down some unneeded elements. Yeah, I realize it's not efficient in the least, so if anyone else has a better idea of how to make it much more efficient, I'm all ears. What I would like to do is create a function with it so that I can strip down whatever variable with a simple call of it (like stripdown(winds)). I appreciate any help that is offered, and any lessons given. How do you move an admin menu item in Magento

I currently have an extension that I created and it currently sits inside of its own top level menu. I would like to move it so that the item would appear inside of the Customers menu. Does anyone know how to do this? It looks like this is handled inside the extensions config.xml file. The code that I have for it right now is as follows: <menu> <testimonials module="testimonials"> <title>Testimonials</title> <sort_order>71</sort_order> <children> <items module="testimonials"> <title>Manage Items</title> <sort_order>0</sort_order> <action>testimonials/adminhtml_testimonials</action> </items> </children> </testimonials> </menu> I tried changing the title element to Customers and it just created a duplicate Customers menu. National Give Camp Weekend - January 14-16, 2011

What is a Give Camp? I get asked this question constantly in the SharePoint Community. About 3 years ago there was an event called "We Are Microsoft" in Dallas, TX. A lady named, Toi Wright, gathered up a bunch of charities and gathered up a bunch of IT Professionals in the community. They met for an entire weekend devising better ways to help these charities with 3 days projects. None of these charities had in house IT staff or they were lacking. The time these projects would save would help out other people in the long run. The first give camp was really popular that a couple guys from Kansas City decided to come up with a give camp in the Kansas City regiona. The event was called Coders 4 Charity. I read Jeff Julian's post on the "We Are Microsoft" event that it inspired me to get involved. i showed up to this event and we were split into teams. On that team I met a couple really awsome guys: Blake Theiss, Lee Brandt, Tim Wright, and Joe Loux. We created a SharePoint site for a boyscout troup. It was my first exposure to Silverlight 1.1. I had so much fun that I attended the event the next year and the St. Louis Coders 4 Charity. Last year in 2010 when I moved i searched high and low. Sure enough they had an event in Philadelphia. I helped out with two SharePoint Projects for a team of firefighters and another charity. This year there are a series of give camps around the U.S. They have consolidated most of the give camps. The first ever New York City Give Camp is on National Give Camp Day. If you guys are interested I see there is a give camp in Philadelphia, St. Louis, Northwest Arkansas, Seattle, Atlanta, Houston, and more...Here is a link to the site I would definitely encourage you to get involved: http://givecamp.org/national-givecamp/. Also, if you feel like it's only developer focused that's entirely wrong. They need DBAs, Project Leads, Architects, and many other roles fulfilled aside from development. It is a great experience to meet good people and help out a charity doing what we all love to do. How to select rows from a table while ignoring the duplicate field values? Here is an example: id user_id message 1 Adam "Adam is here." 2 Peter "Hi there this is Peter." 3 Peter "I am getting sick." 4 Josh "Oh, snap. I'm on a boat!" 5 Tom "This show is great." 6 Laura "Textmate rocks." What i want to achive is to select the recently active users from my db. Let's say i want to select the 5 recently active users. The problem is, that the following script selects Peter twice. mysql_query("SELECT * FROM messages ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 5 "); What i want is to skip the row when it gets again to Peter, and select the next result, in our case Adam. So i don't want to show my visitors that the recently active users were Laura, Tom, Josh, Peter, and Peter again. That does not make any sense, instead i want to show them this way: Laura, Tom, Josh, Peter, (skipping Peter) and Adam. Is there an SQL command i can use for this problem?

Missing IUSR account on Windows Server 2008 R2 / IIS7.5

Ok, I'm stumped. I've been given the job of installing PHP5.4 on this machine. One of the manual installation steps is to configure the IUSR account to have specific permissions. The problem is, I see the IIS_IUSRS group, but no IUSR account. The only users listed are the Admin user, a Guest account, and a user for the security software. I'm not really the Windows server type, more of a *NIX guy - so this is getting a little frustrating. I've searched everywhere and haven't found a suitable answer, but I have learned a lot about IIS7.5 - so it hasn't been a total waste of time. I've tried several recommendations and found several similar problems, but nothing has worked so far. I've also just tried making the IUSR account myself, but to no avail. If anyone knows how to get this going, I will be ever so grateful.

Closing ASPxPopupControl and Reset Login Dialogs

I am creating a login usercontrol. I have added the following buttons: Recover Password, Change Password & Edit Profile. I am using DevExpress's ASPxPopupControl to host the functions associated with those three buttons. There are two problems When the popup is opened I need to be able to close/hide it using a command button When a user starts using one of the login controls and chooses to close the dialog the next time the dialog is opened it does not start at the beginning. (e.g. Start the change password dialog, enter some information, close the popup; the information you started with is not cleared) Any ideas?

MXMLC Ant task results in java.lang.OutOFMemoryError

I'm making a change to a set of code for a Flex project that I didn't write and was set up to compile using ant tasks. I assume that the codebase was stable at the last checkin but I'm running into memory issues when trying to build a project using MXMLC and ant (see stack trace below). MVC2 Controller is passed a null object as a parameter

Example website login/registration code?

I am looking at building the login/registration part of a website (ASP.NET) and would like to see some example code or instructions on how to do this properly. For example, how to correctly use cookies and how to encrypt what is stored in the cookie to ensure the session persists until they logout/timeout. I do not want to use the builtin ASP.NET Membership/Provider stuff as it looks painful to use and not very flexible. Please do not answer with 'This is how easy the ASP.NET Membership/Providre stuff is to use, just check this out and you will use it!' as I don't want to use it!

We have a WEb Service named, let's say Foo. So there is a Foo.svc file and a code behind Foo.svc.cs. We add a silverlight project and wish to use the Foo.svc services so we add a Service Reference and call it's namespace FooBar. Over time we update the Foo.svc and add more Web Services (methods and interfaces) and the number of files in the FooBar directory is growing. I have 26 Foo(nn).xsd files in this directory - where nn = 1 to 26. My configuration.svcinfo is upto configuration91.svcinfo. My question is this? Do any of these files need to be version controlled? Can they all be deleted each time you do a build \ deploy (as long as you do an update service reference)?

Silverlight TabControl - Finding and selecting a TabItem from a given Control in the TabItem.

I am building a LOB application that has a main section and a TabControl with various TabItems in it. On hitting save the idea is that any fields in error are highlighted and the first field in error gets the focus. If the first, and only, field in error is on an Unselected tab the tab should then become selected and the field in error should become highlighted and have focus. But I can not get this to work. What appears to be happening is that the Unselected tab is not in the visual tree so you can't navigate back to the owning TabItem and make it the currently selected TabItem in the TabControl. Has anyone got an idea on how this can be done\achieved?

Rails Foreign key setup question.

I'm just (re)starting playing around with Rails and I'm making a little card game app. I cannot seem to figure out my Foreign Key setups. Say I have 4 objects: - Game - Player - Hand - Card A Game has many Players, which have many Hands which have many Cards. But the cards are also independent of a Hand, Player and Game. For example, I have 6 Cards in my database (1 to 6). It is possible that Card 3 could be in 2 Players Hands in the same Game. How can I set up my keys for this? Should I just create another object for "CardInHand" to simplify it?

Hotkey for double-click highlight?

I'm working in Eclipse and find myself always replacing multiple copies of the same word, but I always have to take my hands off the keyboard and screen to get the mouse, hover over the word, double click to select, and then copy or rewrite the word. Is there any way I can just move the cursor inside the word and hit some hotkey that would highlight it? Seems like this would be a big timesaver. Or if there's a way to create a hotkey that would be perfect too.

Using zc.buildout, how do I install a tarball from a website?

I'm trying to get zc.buildout to install Gunicorn from source. Using the following configuration: [gunicorn] recipe = collective.recipe.distutils url = http://github.com/benoitc/gunicorn/tarball/master results in the following error: SystemError: ('Failed', '"/usr/bin/python" setup.py -q install --install- purelib="/mnt/hgfs/Projects/intranation/parts/site-packages" --install-platlib="/mnt/hgfs/Projects/intranation/parts/site-packages"') Providing a --install-dir or --prefix doesn't help. Is there a recipe for zc.buildout that downloads a tarball and installs it via easy_install or similar?

Open source Mac video streaming server solutions?

In my application, I want to stream videos shot on an iPhone, *.movie files, from a server running on a Mac desktop to an iPhone or iPad client. What are some possible open source servers that do this that are small enough to be shipped or embedded with a downloadable Mac app? There is a product StreamToMe by Matt Gallagher that does this. I noticed a lot of open source alternatives like ffmpeg, VideoLan, and the like but I not sure which one would be good for the Mac.
