• Where in a typical rendering pipeline does visibility and shading occur?

  I am taking a computer graphics course. The book and the lecture notes are vague on the on the order of flow between the different steps in the rendering process. For example, if we have specified a view in a scene, and then want to perform a projection transformation for that given view, then we have to go through a sequence of transformations. In the end we end up with a normalized "viewcube" ready to be mapped 2D after clipping. But why do we end up with a cube (ie 3D thing), when a projection results in projecting the 3D objects to 2D. (depth information is lost?) The other line of reasoning is that all information further needed is stored within the "cube" and that visibility detection and shading is performed with respect to this cube and then we perform rasterezation.

  I am an experienced programmer but completely new to the market. Someone wants me to do a project for them, but I do not know how much it is worth. What are general guidelines/advices for finding what a project is worth on the market? If I can ask here about this particular one, it is a HTML5 site with a login/register form and a video player that has to play a lecture video and powerpoint slides synchronized. They'll give me the video, the audio the powerpoints. I should also do some editting on the video before.

  Some time ago (~4-5months ago) I attented a lecture about JEE and at some point the lecturer started talking about webservices and how hard it is to create a good one because all the IDEs make them in a bit different way (or something like that) and that in general it's better to use Netbeans to create them as Eclipse has some issues, the thing is he didn't really say why Eclipse is bad. Now I'm wondering is what he said true and why, is it really better to use Netbeans for webservices and why?

• highlight parent window text when spell checking from child window

  I'm working on a simple spell checking app for a lecture that I'm giving. I've got the basic spell checking code working just fine using a child form and NHunspell - great lib, by the way. However, I'd like for the parent textbox to show the highlighted text for reference, and while I'm setting the SelectedText properties accordingly, the text is not highlighted in the parent. Canceling the child window and the parent text is highlighted. Anybody know how I can do this?

• Could a truly random number be generated using pings to psuedo-randomly selected IP addresses?

  The question posed came about during a 2nd Year Comp Science lecture while discussing the impossibility of generating numbers in a deterministic computational device. This was the only suggestion which didn't depend on non-commodity-class hardware. Subsequently nobody would put their reputation on the line to argue definitively for or against it.   A few simple marks for those who know the answer. I'm doing revision for exams at the moment and one of the past questions is: What is meant by the order of a perceptron? I can't find any information about this in my lecture notes, and even google seems at a loss. My site's 'live search' (ajax search) searches the column full_details(TEXT), should i create a reversed version like full_details_rev(TEXT) and index that?   The situation is that I work for a small college, and we have a student who will legitimately not be able to attend some classes for the next few weeks. Most of our professors use either powerpoint or a smartboard, and so we're shuffling things around so that all her classes take place in only two rooms. We want to set up those rooms to be able to live screencast (with audio) each lecture. I've seen other similar questions, but they're all more geared towards recording demos. I'm looking for something more like Live Meeting. Any suggestions appreciated.

  I got a service coded in c# whoes deleted somes web site files hosted on iis, before an update. But sometime when i delete the files, they stay there. If I try to delete them manually, via explorer, the file are not deletable, because they are in state "Delete pending". • How can I practice with a full set of characters in KTouch?

  I originally used KTouch to learn Qwerty touch typing, but found it too stressful on the hands. Hearing about Dvorak, I decided I'd switch to that (still using a Qwerty keyboard, but with the keys mapped differently). Since the keyboard is physically displaying a Qwerty layout, I cannot look at the keyboard for hints, making it very hard to type characters that I am unfamiliar with. Unfortunately, KTouch only covers letters, not punctuation and other symbols. Where can I find a lecture that covers all, or most of, the characters on a keyboard?

  Hi all : I am preparing for a Linux terminal assessment now, I tried to Google and found most resources are referring to the basic "grep" rather than the more powerful "egrep" -- well, that is at least what the professor said in lecture. I am always working with small samples so performance tuning is a thing too far away. So basically I'd like to know are there any areas where I must switch to egrep to do it in a better way? • Cheapest way to go for somebody who wants to accept payments, but won't be accepting hundreds of ord

  I have a client who lectures, and wants to sell spots to his lecture online. I would preferably like to set him up with a solution that allows me to collect billing information on his site. My experience with e-commerce is in using solutions like Authorize.net, however this does not seem cost effective since I can't imagine he's making a huge profit off of this. I'm afraid he would lose money in the cost of using Authorize.net (or any payment gateway for the matter). I could use google checkout or paypal express, but this would require me to leave his site (although with google checkout, it looks like, from a glance, that I could just submit to their form from my server, and likely with paypal as well, but I don't know if this is against their TOS). What is the most cost-effective solution for accepting credit card payments in this situation?
