  Hi, I would like to map all traffic on 80 and 443 from foo.com to an internal server: 192.168.1.101. I have a VirtualHost (Apache 2.2 on Ubuntu) setup as follows (note, I had to break up the hyperlinks below because I am a 'new user'): <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName foo.com ServerAlias *.foo.com ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass / http://192.168.1.101/ ProxyPassReverse / http://192.168.1.101/ </VirtualHost> And that works great for http traffic. However, I can't seem to do the same thing for https. I have tried: Changing VirtualHost *:80 to * - but that doesn't work (I need it http-http and https-https) Creating a new VirtualHost entry for *:443 that redirects to http://192.168.1.101/, but that fails as well (browser timeouts) I did some searching, here and elsewhere, and the closest question I could find was this, but that didn't quite answer it. Also, just out of curiosity, I tried mapping all ports to https (by changing the two ProxyPass lines from http to https (and removing the :80 from VH), and that didn't work either. How would you do that as well? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

• Apache mod_proxy with SSL not redirecting

  I have a custom server running behind an apache reverse proxy. Since the custom server can only handle HTTP traffic, i am trying to use apache for wrapping proper SSL around it, and for some kind of HTTP authentication. So i enabled mod_proxy and mod_ssl and modified sites-available/default-ssl. The config is as following: <Location /server> order deny,allow allow from all AuthType Basic AuthName "Please log in" AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/htpasswd Require valid-user ProxyPass http://192.168.1.102:8181/server ProxyPassReverse http://192.168.1.102:8181/server </Location> The custom server is accessible from the internal network via the location specified in the ProxyPass directive. However, when the proxy is accessed from the outside, it presents the login prompt, and after successfully authenticated, i get a blank page with the words The resource can be found at http://192.168.1.102:8181/server. When i type the external URL again in an already authenticated browser instance, i am properly redirected to the server frontend. The access.log is full of entrys stating that my browser does successful GET requests, and the proxy is happily serving the /server ressource. However, the ressource isn't containing the server's frontend, but this blank page with these words on it.

The below block of code includes the ProxyHTMLURLMap param so that the HTML can be rewritten to remove the Tomcat context path. With this setup in place, after logging into my application, an initial JSESSIONID is set properly, but when navigating to any other page, this JSESSIONID is lost and another one is set by the application. • What command should be used to connect via SSH through squid proxy?

  I have set up a Squid HTTP Proxy (in centOS) and intended to use it also for ssh connections. Managed to configure putty (in a windows client) to use this proxy while connecting by ssh. Confirmed in the "target host" that the ssh connection was coming from Proxy server ip instead of the windows client IP. Used: targethost: 22 for ssh proxyserv: 3128 for proxy (along with proxy credentials) I'm now having problems connecting to the "target host" using Ubuntu and the same proxy server. I have tried the following: me@mycomp:~$ connect-proxy -H test@proxyserv:3128 targethost 22 Enter proxy authentication password for test@proxyserv: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.2p2 Ubuntu-6 It hangs in last line, expecting some input. All attempts resulted in a "Protocol mismatch." error. Putty successfully connects to the http proxy and sends credentials, showing me ssh login right away. - How to do (with commands in Ubuntu) the same putty does? - Is there any other way than connect-proxy command to do this?   Hi all, I'm pulling my hard on this configuration, which probably is simply. I have a wildcard ssl certificate which is working. I have the website setup to run on domain.com under SSL. Now, I'm in need to run many subdomains (*.domain.com) on the same server with the same SSL certificate. Shouldn't be that hard, right? Well, I can't get it going. Point is, that the first config is another Tomcat server that serves another site and listens to domain.com and www.domain.com. The other config listens to *.domain.com and pulls the content from another Tomcat server. I already tried this whole setup with mod_rewrite, but simply don't see what I'm doing wrong. • setting up tracd behind mod_proxy?

  I'm having trouble setting up mod_proxy and tracd. Seems almost all the search results for this problem take me to the built-in trac documentation page that mentions it as an option. I have several VirtualServers already running on the box in question, so running tracd on port 80 or 443 is not an option, but I do want to make my trac server accessible on this machine without exposing an additional port via the firewall. Making things even more complicated is that I have multiple trac repositories being served by the same instance of tracd, and so I want to set it up so: http://trac.abc.com is proxy'd to localhost:8000/projects/abcproject, and http://trac.def.com is proxy'd to localhost:8000/projects/defproject. Currently, the setup I have below results in 100% 403 errors. The server is running as www-data and the directory where all trac files are stored is owned by www-data, AND tracd (as show below) is running as www-data, so not sure where it's getting hung up. The relevant configuration on /var/apache2/sites-enabled/trac.abc.com: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8000/abcproject ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8000/abcproject The relevant configuration on /var/apache2/sites-enabled/trac.def.com: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8000/defproject ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8000/defproject The command used to instantiate tracd: tracd -a defproject,/var/www/vhosts/trac-common/users.htdigest,DEFProject -a abcproject,/var/www/vhosts/trac-common/users.htdigest,ABCProject -p 8000 -b localhost -e /var/www/vhosts/trac-common/projects If I access the site at http://localhost:8000/ everything works fine, but if I try to access via any of the proxy'd hosts I end up with 403 at every turn. I've used mod_proxy successfully as described above for other servers, such as couchdb, so maybe this has to do with the headers sent by tracd??

  I'm setting up an Apache 2.2 Ubuntu web server for internal services that is also supposed to be accessed from outside our LAN. Our LAN has a single external IP that is the external IP of our RV042 Cisco router. We have set up several A records on our external DNS server that point to this IP. Our internal DNS server resolve the same records to the internal IP of our web server, so computers from inside the network can access them using the same address as if they were outside. We forwarded the router's external 80 port to our web server's 80 port. I have set up one Virtual Host for each domain name in our list, and my httpd.conf is something like this: ServerName web.domain.com NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName alfresco.domain.com <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /alfresco http://localhost:8080/alfresco ProxyPassReverse /alfresco http://localhost:8080/alfresco ProxyPass /share http://localhost:8080/share ProxyPassReverse /share http://localhost:8080/share </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName crm.domain.com DocumentRoot /var/www/sugarcrm </VirtualHost> Now, this works if we are in our LAN. But we can't reach the virtual hosts, as if the domain name is not being preserved when the router forward the packets to the web server. Am I doing something wrong? How can I check what is going on? What should be the settings to make this work from outside?

• Apache2 VirtualHost Configuration with SSL

  Hello! I'm new here and I have a strange problem which needs to be solved. Previously I searched in the whole forum and I've read all of related questions but I didn't find solution to my question. We have two servers and a firewall computer. On the Server#1 there is an Apache 2.2 web server and it forwards the incoming traffic to the appropriate ports, to our subdomains by its virtual host configuration (Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Server#2 and so on). We recently bought an SSL certificate to protect one of our subdomain. I successfully installed and configured the certificate into the Apache and it works flawlessly within our local network. Our Kerio Winroute Firewall is configured to permit https traffic and it is translated to Server#1. But all of our subdomains are unavailable from outside (http & https too). Web browser shows "Failed to connect" message. • Internet Explorer Warning when embedding Youtube on HTTPS site?

  Our application is run over HTTPS which rarely presents any problems for us. When it comes to youtube however, the fact that they do not present any content over SSL connections is giving us some head ache when trying to embed clips. Mostly because of Internet Explorers famous little warning message: "Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely? This page contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS ... etc" I've tried to solve this in several ways. The most promising one was to use the ProxyPass functionality in Apache to map to YouTube. Like this: ProxyPass: /youtube/ http://www.youtube.com ProxyPassReverse: /youtube/ http://www.youtube.com This gets rid of the annoying warning. However, the youtube SWF fails to start streaming The SWF i manage to load into the browser simply states : "An error occurred, please try again later". Potential solutions are perhaps: Download youtube FLV:s and serve them out of own domain (gah) Use custom FLV-player and stream only FLV:s from youtube over a https proxy? Update 10 March: I've tried to use Googles Youtube API for ActionScript to load a player. It looked promising at first and I was able to load a player through my https:// proxy. However, the SWF that is loaded contains loads of explicit calls to different non-ssl urls to create authentication links for the FLV-stream and for loading different crossdomain policies. It really seems like we're not supposed to access flv-streams directly. This makes it very hard to bypass the Internet Explorer warning, short of ripping out the FLV:s from youtube and serving them out of your own domain. There are solutions out there for downloading youtubes FLV:s. But that is not compliant with the Youtube terms of use and is really not an option for us.

• Apache and multiple tomcats proxy

  I have 1 apache server and two tomcat servers with two different applications. I want to use the apache as a proxy so that the user can access the application from the same url using different paths. e.g.: localhost/app1 --> localhost:8080/app1 localhost/app2 --> localhost:8181/app2 I tried all 3 mod proxy of apache (mod_jk, mod_proxy_http and mod_proxy_ajp) but the first application is working, whilst the second is not accessible. This is the apache configuration I'm using: ProxyPassMatch ^(/.*\.gif)$ ! ProxyPassMatch ^(/.*\.css)$ ! ProxyPassMatch ^(/.*\.png)$ ! ProxyPassMatch ^(/.*\.js)$ ! ProxyPassMatch ^(/.*\.jpeg)$ ! ProxyRequests Off ProxyPass /app1 ajp://localhost:8009/ ProxyPassReverse /app1 ajp://localhost:8009/ ProxyPass /app2 ajp://localhost:8909/ ProxyPassReverse /app2 ajp://localhost:8909/ With the above, I manage to view the tomcat root application using localhost/app1, but I get "Service Temporarily Unavailable" (apache error) when accessing app2. I need to keep the tomcat servers separate because I need to restart one of the applications often and it is not an option to save both apps on the same tomcat. Can someone point me out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you all.

  I'm running an application server behind an Apache proxy with the following sort of thing in my Apache config: ProxyPass /app http://myapplication:8080/myapp ProxyPassReverse /app http://myapplication:8080/myapp When I switch on NTLM authentication (using mod_ntlm) the authentication fails (it works fine when bypassing the proxy). A quick search reveals lots of issues when running NTLM behind a proxy due to the connection-specific NTLM specification. Does anyone have a working Apache configuration that allows NTLM authentication through a proxy? Thanks for any help.

  I'm trying to set up a basic virtual host to proxy all requests to test.local to a WEBrick server I have running on 127.0.0.1:8080 while keeping all requests to localhost going to my static files in /var/www. The main pages are on localhost:8080 but we need ajax calls to http://remote.com/abc. Both domains are under my control. Using the above configuration, the ajax calls either don't reach the remote server or get cut off because of the cross origin. The above solution worked in Apache and isn't working in nginx, so I am assuming it's a configuration problem. I think there is an implicit question here: should I have two server declarations or should I somehow merge them into one? EDIT: Added some more information EDIT2: I've moved all the proxy_pass configuration into the main server declaration and changed all the ajax calls to go through port 8080. I am now getting a new error: 502 Connection reset by peer. Wireshark shows packets going out to http://remote.com with a bad IP header checksum.

  I have a apache web server that needs to reverse proxy a site. So example.com/test/ or example.com/test pull from the same other webserver. I have setup a reverse proxy for the one without the trailing slash like this: ProxyPass /test http://othersite.com/test ProxyPassReverse /testhttp://othersite.com/test But it doesn't work with a trailing slash. Any Ideas? I have tried redirecting from /test/ to /test with no luck. Thanks.

Basically I don't want requests with the url: http://another.host:8081/~username to be forwarded to the other server. Can this be done?
