  • Parse HTTP requests through Wireshark?

    - by diogobaeder
Hi, guys, Is there any way to parse HTTP request data in wireshark? For example, can I expose the request parameters upon an HTTP GET request (being sent by my machine), so that I don't need to read the (sometimes) truncated URL and find them by myself? I was using Tamper Data and Firebug, on my Firefox, to analyse these requests, but they're not as reliable as a stand-alone tool for monitoring my network interface, but wireshark keeps data too raw concerning HTTP flow. If you guys know any other stand-alone tool that does this (must be Linux-compatible), please tell me. Thanks!

  • Using a redirect of any form to remove a query string with Apache

    - by Bart B
Because of the silly way iTunes works the only way to update the URL for a feed is by setting up a permanent redirect from the old feed to the new. This seems easy, but I've hit a snag. The old URL ended in /?feed=rss2, the new URL is just a file, so it ends in podcast.xml. When I redirected from the old URL to the new, iTunes picked up the new URL BUT, WITH the query string, so now the URL ends in podcast.xml?feed=rss2. This is allowing listers to download the show - which is good, but causing some other problems. Is there any possible way to set up a permanent redirect that will redired podcast.xml?feed=rss2 to just podcast.xml? Mod_Rewrite seems to just pass through query strings, so I'm at a loss! Bart.

  • IIS URL Rewrite Module Query String Parameters

    - by binarycoder
Is it possible to use URL Rewrite to provide more complex query string functionality than the "Append query string" checkbox that it has? Specifically, is it possible to specify the keys for certain query string parameters and have it only append those name value pairs. For example, for the input: http://www.example.org/test?alpha=1&beta=2&gamma=3 and the list of query string parameter keys: beta gamma it should output: http://www.example.org/redirect?beta=2&gamma=3 (Note that the query string parameters in the input appear in arbitrary order.)

  • Mod_rewrite to eliminate query strings

    - by Greg Frommer
Hi everyone, I have been working on this for a while but I'm not finding exactly what I am looking for. I am writing a webapp to let my users create and publish pieces of HTML content in a domain and URL folder structure of their choosing. All of the content and requested URL structures are stored in a database. I have all of the code in my index.php (in the root folder) to access the database content, and based on the server name (and hopefully folder structure) will pick out the proper content from the DB and display it to the end-users browser. So my situation looks like this: www.test.com/index.php?id=123234345 ... will display the proper page, but I want my users to be able to define a unique "page name" instead of using the numeric index (also I want to hide the /index.php part) so what I would like the end-user to see is: www.test.com/arbitrary-unique-keyword/keyword2/keyword3 which will invoke the index.php page in the root folder. Then I will use the PHP $_SERVER['PATH_INFO'] variable to match the requested folder structure up with the proper content in my database and display that. All the material I have found so far expects me to hard code parts of the folder structure into the rules.... but I think I want something simpler (perhaps). So the question in a nutshell: How do I use mod_rewrite to allow all "non-existent" folder paths be passed through to a main index.php residing in the root folder? (For all paths that DO exist, like for calls to images... I want those to succeed and not be directed to the index.php obviously) Thanks everyone, please let me know if I can clear anything up.

  • Rewritten URLs with parameter length > 255 don't work

    - by philfreo
I'm using mod_rewrite to rewrite URLs like this: http://example.com/1,2,3,4/foo/ By doing this in .htaccess: RewriteRule ^([\d,]+)/foo/$ /foo.php?id=$1 [L,QSA] It works fine, except for when "1,2,3,4" turns into a string longer than 255 characters, Apache returns a "403 Forbidden". Is there some apache setting I should tweak?

  • Mod_rewrite delete parameter in 301 Redirect

    - by Jack
Hi, How would I go about rewriting: http://www.example.com/foo.html?order=desc&limit=all&something=else to http://www.example.com/foo.html?order=desc&something=else I want to remove all instances on limit=all regardless of how many other parameters in the url. I have tried: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.*&)&limit=all(&.*)?$ [NC] RewriteRule ^foo\.html$ /foo\.html\?%1%2 [R=301,L]

  • How can use mod_rewrite to redirect a multiple specific URLs containing multiple query strings?

    - by Derek
Hi there folks, we recently migrated a site from a custom CMS to drupal. In an effort to preserve some links that our users bookmarked (we have about 120 redirects) we would like to forward the original URLs to a new URL. I have been searching for a couple days, but can't seem to find anything simple to what I need. We have existing URLS that contain one or more query strings, for example: /article.php?issue_id=12&article_id=275 and we would like to forward to the new location: http://foobar.edu/content/super-happy-fun-article I started using: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/article\.php?issue_id=12&article_id=275$ http://foobar.edu/content/super-happy-fun-article [R=301,L] This, however, does not work. A simple RewriteRule works: RewriteRule ^test\.php$ index.php It is unclear to me how I need to use {QUERY_STRING} with multiple Basically it's 120 simple redirects that go from one existing URL to a new one. I don't need ranges [0-9], because there is no sequential order to existing URLs. Perhaps I can do what I need with RewriteMap and a simple text file that contains a line like this: index.php?issue_id=12&articleType_section=0&articleType_id=65 http://foobar.edu/category/fall-2008 If anyone has any idea on using mod_rewrite to accomplish this or if there is a better, or more simple mod, I am open to that as well. Thanks!

  • How can I encrypt a querystring in asp.net?

    - by Dave Haynes
I need to encrypt and decrypt a querystring in ASP.NET. The querystring might look something like this: http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?id=12345&year=2008 How do I go about encrypting the entire querystring so that it looks something like the following? http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?crypt=asldjfaf32as98df8a And then, of course, how to I decrypt it? What's the best encryption to use for something like this? TripleDES?

  • Regular expression to remove one parameter from query string

    - by Kip
    I'm looking for a regular expression to remove a single parameter from a query string, and I want to do it in a single regular expression if possible. Say I want to remove the foo parameter. Right now I use this: /&?foo\=[^&]+/ That works as long as foo is not the first parameter in the query string. If it is, then my new query string starts with an ampersand. (For example, "foo=123&bar=456" gives a result of "&bar=456".) Right now, I'm just checking after the regex if the query string starts with ampersand, and chopping it off if it does. Example edge cases: Input | Output -------------------------+----------------- foo=123 | (empty string) foo=123&bar=456 | bar=456 bar=456&foo=123 | bar=456 abc=789&foo=123&bar=456 | abc=789&bar=456 Edit OK as pointed out in comments there are there are way more edge cases than I originally considered. I got the following regex to work with all of them: /&foo(\=[^&]*)?(?=&|$)|^foo(\=[^&]*)?(&|$)/ This is modified from Mark Byers's answer, which is why I'm accepting that one, but Roger Pate's input helped a lot too. Here is the full suite of test cases I'm using, and a Perl script which tests them. Input | Output -------------------------+------------------- foo | foo&bar=456 | bar=456 bar=456&foo | bar=456 abc=789&foo&bar=456 | abc=789&bar=456 foo= | foo=&bar=456 | bar=456 bar=456&foo= | bar=456 abc=789&foo=&bar=456 | abc=789&bar=456 foo=123 | foo=123&bar=456 | bar=456 bar=456&foo=123 | bar=456 abc=789&foo=123&bar=456 | abc=789&bar=456 xfoo | xfoo xfoo&bar=456 | xfoo&bar=456 bar=456&xfoo | bar=456&xfoo abc=789&xfoo&bar=456 | abc=789&xfoo&bar=456 xfoo= | xfoo= xfoo=&bar=456 | xfoo=&bar=456 bar=456&xfoo= | bar=456&xfoo= abc=789&xfoo=&bar=456 | abc=789&xfoo=&bar=456 xfoo=123 | xfoo=123 xfoo=123&bar=456 | xfoo=123&bar=456 bar=456&xfoo=123 | bar=456&xfoo=123 abc=789&xfoo=123&bar=456 | abc=789&xfoo=123&bar=456 foox | foox foox&bar=456 | foox&bar=456 bar=456&foox | bar=456&foox abc=789&foox&bar=456 | abc=789&foox&bar=456 foox= | foox= foox=&bar=456 | foox=&bar=456 bar=456&foox= | bar=456&foox= abc=789&foox=&bar=456 | abc=789&foox=&bar=456 foox=123 | foox=123 foox=123&bar=456 | foox=123&bar=456 bar=456&foox=123 | bar=456&foox=123 abc=789&foox=123&bar=456 | abc=789&foox=123&bar=456 Test script (Perl) @in = ('foo' , 'foo&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foo' , 'abc=789&foo&bar=456' ,'foo=' , 'foo=&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foo=' , 'abc=789&foo=&bar=456' ,'foo=123' , 'foo=123&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foo=123' , 'abc=789&foo=123&bar=456' ,'xfoo' , 'xfoo&bar=456' , 'bar=456&xfoo' , 'abc=789&xfoo&bar=456' ,'xfoo=' , 'xfoo=&bar=456' , 'bar=456&xfoo=' , 'abc=789&xfoo=&bar=456' ,'xfoo=123', 'xfoo=123&bar=456', 'bar=456&xfoo=123', 'abc=789&xfoo=123&bar=456' ,'foox' , 'foox&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foox' , 'abc=789&foox&bar=456' ,'foox=' , 'foox=&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foox=' , 'abc=789&foox=&bar=456' ,'foox=123', 'foox=123&bar=456', 'bar=456&foox=123', 'abc=789&foox=123&bar=456' ); @exp = ('' , 'bar=456' , 'bar=456' , 'abc=789&bar=456' ,'' , 'bar=456' , 'bar=456' , 'abc=789&bar=456' ,'' , 'bar=456' , 'bar=456' , 'abc=789&bar=456' ,'xfoo' , 'xfoo&bar=456' , 'bar=456&xfoo' , 'abc=789&xfoo&bar=456' ,'xfoo=' , 'xfoo=&bar=456' , 'bar=456&xfoo=' , 'abc=789&xfoo=&bar=456' ,'xfoo=123', 'xfoo=123&bar=456', 'bar=456&xfoo=123', 'abc=789&xfoo=123&bar=456' ,'foox' , 'foox&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foox' , 'abc=789&foox&bar=456' ,'foox=' , 'foox=&bar=456' , 'bar=456&foox=' , 'abc=789&foox=&bar=456' ,'foox=123', 'foox=123&bar=456', 'bar=456&foox=123', 'abc=789&foox=123&bar=456' ); print "Succ | Input | Output | Expected \n"; print "-----+--------------------------+--------------------------+-------------------------\n"; for($i=0; $i <= $#in; $i++) { $out = $in[$i]; $out =~ s/_PUT_REGEX_HERE_//; $succ = ($out eq $exp[$i] ?   • Retain anchor when redirecting subdomain (IE)

    - by dani

(Query string is not dropped, only the #xyz part) I am running Wordpress with the .htaccess below, but the problem is probably to be found elsewhere? Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] Is a PHP header or javascript redirect my only option? • Filter, sort and paginate in Codeigniter

    - by Babak
Ive recently started using CodeIgniter as I was searching for a very lightweight framework and it seemed to come up as a top choice. I am new to the whole MVC thing, enjoying it but am stuck with something which seems very simple. I am coding a CMS and need a way to filter, sort and paginate the results. I am used to doing it with querystrings, so I would have something along the lines of: articles.php?order=title&sort=desc&filter=articletitle&page=5 I have no idea how I would go about doing this in CI so I just turned on the EnableQueryStrings in the config and it works fine, but i am getting the feeling its probably not the most elegant solution. I suppose I could have index.php/articles/index/order/title/sort/desc/filter/articletitle/page/5 but to me this seems very inflexible, what if for example i dont need to sort, how would i make sure i am looking at the correct uri segment? any ideas?

  • Optional query string parameters in URITemplate in WCF?

    - by Shafique
I'm developing some RESTful services in WCF 4.0. I've got a method as below: [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "Test?format=XML&records={records}", ResponseFormat=WebMessageFormat.Xml)] public string TestXml(string records) { return "Hello XML"; } So if i navigate my browser to http://localhost:8000/Service/Test?format=XML&records=10, then everything works as exepcted. HOWEVER, i want to be able to navigate to http://localhost:8000/Service/Test?format=XML and leave off the "&records=10" portion of the URL. But now, I get a service error since the URI doesn't match the expected URI template. So how do I implement defaults for some of my query string parameters? I want to default the "records" to 10 for instance if that part is left off the query string.

  • classic asp - response.redirect and response.write problem

    - by apg1985
Hi People, The problem if someone types into the search box a location it goes through to that location page but if they type in a location thats not found or they dont type anything in I need it to redirect back to the homepage (index.asp) and display "whoops we couldnt find that" in the search box (input field) This is the vb Case Else response.redirect "index.asp?whoops=whoops we couldnt find that" End Select Then in the value of the input field I have value="<% =whoops %>" This doesnt work by the way, first is this the best way of doing it because id rather not have the error message in the url. This there away of posting the error as a variable and then calling it into the input field like, <% =whoops %>

  • mod_rewrite with question marks and ampersands (with PHP)

    - by Chris
I have a PHP-based web app that I'm trying to apply Apache's mod_rewrite to. Original URLs are of the form: http://example.com/index.php?page=home&x=5 And I'd like to transform these into: http://example.com/home?x=5 Note that while rewriting the page name, I'm also effectively "moving" the question mark. When I try to do this, Apache happily performs this translation: RewriteRule ^/([a-z]+)\?(.+)$ /index.php?page=$1&$2 [NC,L] But it messes up the $_GET variables in PHP. For example, a call to http://example.com/home?x=88 yields only one $_GET variable (page => home). Where did x => 88 go? However, when I change my rule to use an ampersand rather than a question mark: RewriteRule ^/([a-z]+)&(.+)$ /index.php?page=$1&$2 [NC,L] a call like http://example.com/home&x=88 will work just as I'd expect it to (i.e. both the page and x $_GET variables are set appropriately). The difference is minimal I know, but I'd like my URL variables to "start" with a question mark, if it's possible. I'm sure this reflects my own misunderstanding of how mod_rewrite redirects interact with PHP, but it seems like I should be able to do this (one way or another). Thanks in advance! Cheers, -Chris

  • 301 Redirecting URLs based on GET variables in .htaccess

    - by technicalbloke
I have a few messy old URLs like... http://www.example.com/bunch.of/unneeded/crap?opendocument&part=1 http://www.example.com/bunch.of/unneeded/crap?opendocument&part=2 ...that I want to redirect to the newer, cleaner form... http://www.example.com/page.php/welcome http://www.example.com/page.php/prices I understand I can redirect one page to another with a simple redirect i.e. Redirect 301 /bunch.of/unneeded/crap http://www.example.com/page.php But the source page doesn't change, only it's GET vars. I can't figure out how to base the redirect on the value of these GET variables. Can anybody help pls!? I'm fairly handy with the old regexes so I can have a pop at using mod-rewrite if I have to but I'm not clear on the syntax for rewriting GET vars and I'd prefer to avoid the performance hit and use the cleaner Redirect directive. Is there a way? and if not can anyone clue me in as to the right mod-rewrite syntax pls? Cheers, Roger.

  • In OpenRasta is it possible to Pattern match multiple key/value pairs?

    - by Scott Littlewood
    Is it possible in OpenRasta to have a Uri pattern that allows for an array of values of the same key to be submitted and mapped to a handler method accepting an array of the query parameters. Example: Return all the contacts named Dave Smith from a collection. HTTP GET /contacts?filterBy=first&filterValue=Dave&filterBy=last&filterValue=Smith With a configuration of: What syntax would be best for the Uri string pattern matching? (Suggestions welcome) ResourceSpace.Has.ResourcesOfType<List<ContactResource>>() .AtUri("/contacts") .And.AtUri("/contacts?filterBy[]={filterBy}[]&filterValue[]={fv}[]") // Option 1 .And.AtUri("/contacts?filterBy={filterBy}[]&fv={fv}[]") // Option 2 Would map to a Handler method of: public object Get(params Filter[] filters) { /* create a Linq Expression based on the filters using dynamic linq query the repository using the Linq */ return Query.All<Contact>().Where(c => c.First == "Dave" && c.Last == "Smith").ToResource() } where Filter is defined by public class Filter { public string FilterBy { get; set; } public string FilterValue { get; set; } }

  • Literal ampersands in System.Uri query string

    - by Nathan Baulch
I'm working on a client app that uses a restful service to look up companies by name. It's important that I'm able to include literal ampersands in my queries since this character is quite common in company names. However whenever I pass %26 (the URI escaped ampersand character) to System.Uri, it converts it back to a regular ampersand character! On closer inspection, the only two characters that aren't converted back are hash (%23) and percent (%25). Lets say I want to search for a company named "Pierce & Pierce": var endPoint = "http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq '{0}'"; var name = "Pierce & Pierce"; Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, name))); Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, Uri.EscapeUriString(name)))); Console.WriteLine(new Uri(string.Format(endPoint, Uri.EscapeDataString(name)))); All three of the above combinations return: http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq 'Pierce & Pierce' This causes errors on the server side since the ampersand is (correctly) interpreted as a query arg delimiter. What I really need it to return is the original string: http://localhost/companies?where=Name eq 'Pierce %26 Pierce' How can I work around this behavior without discarding System.Uri entirely? I can't replace all ampersands with %26 at the last moment because there will usually be multiple query args involved and I don't want to destroy their delimiters. Note: A similar problem was discussed in this question but I'm specifically referring to System.Uri.
