• Visual studio 2008 autorecover directory location change

  howdy using vs2008 C# Does anyone know how change the directory location that auto recover files are saved to in visual studio sp1. The specific directory it should be on my C# drive in my documents is always empty even when the feature is turned on. There where some changes to our network env and it seems my auto recover files are now being mapped to network drive and i need to change it back. I cant find anything on how to do this on net searches if anyone can help please. thanks for any help

• Backing up Information Store - Recovering to Different Information Store / RSG

  Hi All, I have a question on a situation, that hasn't yet arrisen but I wondered the possibilities and how we go about it. Currently we backup our Exchange 2003 Cluster with Backup exec. Currently it is set to backup the Microsoft Information Store on that server and all of the Mailbox Stores beneath it. We have previously used this in conjunction with a recovery storage group on the same server to recover lost mailboxes. However, due to space constrictions on that server ( a seperate issue that is being addressed in the very near future but outside of the scope of this question) we now don't have enough space on that server to do a recovery storage group type restore. Is it possible, to restore an information store, to a different server in the same administrative group (ie first)? By that I mean we have the following: Server1 | First Storage Group | Mailbox Store1/2/3 Could Mailbox Store 1 be restored to: Server2 | First Storage Group | Recovery Storage Group Both servers are under the same Administrative Group Currently for whatever reason ( mainly time) the mailboxes are not being backed up individually. • How do I reattach to Ubuntu Server's 'do-release-upgrade' process?

  I accidentally pressed Ctrl+C during Ubuntu Server's do-release-upgrade process. I'd dropped to a shell to compare a .conf file in /etc/. When I pressed Ctrl-C, it asked whether I wanted to try to reattach to the upgrade process, but it failed to do so. So I quit, and now there's a hanging dpkg process which is holding onto the apt lock. This is a virtualised server with no GUI frontend... Is it possible to recover the upgrade process, or do I have to kill the dpkg process and start again? UPDATE:- AFAICT, there was no way to reattach to the upgrade process. However, it wasn't a disaster at all. I killed the hanging dpkg process, and then ran dpkg --configure -a. This walks you through reconfiguring all packages already installed on the system, tidying up any problems whilst it does so. After that, I used aptitude to upgrade the remaining packages, which had already been downloaded, but hadn't been installed or configured.

  I am administrating a small server for LAN, providing basic services such as web-proxy, ldap, kerberos, afs, etc. Yesterday there was a power cut so server halted. When I restarted it no network interfaces were available and configured. I tried restarting networking daemon but it just exited with 0 status. So I tried to run one of the interfaces manually, but ifup and ifdown commands simply are not there. No only in PATH, but they disappeared from /sbin. So my question is: how can I recover these network utilities?

• Recover Time Machine partition that turned MBR only instead of GUID

  I have one drive that has a NTFS partition, a TimeMachine partition (I guess HFS+) and empty space. The other day, I did one partition more from Windows 8 (bootcamp) and since then, I can't see the TimeMachine one from OSX, I can see it from Windows though. The problem is that TimeMachine uses a file system that Windows cannot browse, only shows some folders and I need to recover this partition because I have to use it to backup my Mac. On OSX I can only see the NTFS partition and the other one appears unmounted and it's impossible to mount. I've come to the conclusion that something has happened to the partition table. With TestDisk it shows that it's MBR only when I think it should be GUID: And pressing p shows that it's FDisk_partition_scheme and the TimeMachine one appears as Windows_NTFS.   Adobe Photoshop creates temporary *.psb files for emergency recovery at this path: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/AutoRecover The files created have names like _Untitled-10FDB62ECBABBFF5C8EAD958EBC9CFAE2E.psb with current user:group as designated owner. If you save the file you are working on OR you hit "don't save" when prompted, the temporary files are deleted. Now, system creates and deletes these files. I am trying to recover the emergency file but I think the "undelete" utilities were created assuming the "user" deletes the file - like going into the trash bin and then emptying the trash... Anyone having experience about this? Thanks.

  I have CentOS 5.8 on my computer, with 5x 1TB hard drives. I used software RAID. (RAID 1 as a boot partition md0, RAID 0 as a root partition md1 and RAID 5 as /home partition md3). Unfortunately one of these hard drives failed lately and I want to replace it with a new one. I want to know that is it possible to change this hard drive without data loss? The important partition is RAID 5 so in theory if one of hard drives failed I should be able to recover its data without any problem. But in practice how can I do that?

  I wanted to install another Linux on my comp, so i tried to resize one of my NTFS partitions with Norton Partition Magic, but it didn't complete successfully and it showed some errors and said that the partition is not resized and that it's the same size like before, but when i rebooted my comp i couldn't open that partition anymore and also i am not able to mount it from my linux. So this is my question: I had very important data on that partition - can i recover it back ? I guess nothing's deleted it's just something messed up so it's not usable, but can i get it back ?   I have a website the contact form has been failing silently for two weeks (Wordpress + Contact form 7). Apparently updating to Contact Form 7 made the assigned email to fail [email protected], I also tested with [email protected] and it also failed until I tried with gmail and it finally worked. Apparently @telefonica.net and @me.com domains are not working with this version of the plugin, but I have to investigate the cause. I found the logs of the lost emails, but I would like to know If I can recover the sender or the content of the original messages. • Recover Bios HP DV9700T windows 7 64

  I downloaded the latest DV9700t bios (.59) and ran the update tool in windows 7 64. This seemed to go ok and did the usual system will shutdown in 10 seconds dialog. Updon the reboot nothing happens I get no BIOS screen or anything so I think the bios update went wrong. Which I am annoyed about I have never known a bios update to fail before and lots of people on the internet seem to have had the same problem with the same model. There is a way to recover apparently using crisdisk utility and creating a bootable usb key then holding win+b at power on, unfortunately the utility to make the disk doesn't seem to work in 64 bit versions of windows, the only type I have easy access to. Anyone know a way to create the boot disk in 64?

• How to recover Windows Vista product key?

  Two years ago I've bought asus laptop with Windows Vista preinstalled. I also received recovery dvd with it. Now, I want to reinstall Windows and fully format the hard drive. However, the sticker with Windows product key under the laptop is unreadable. I tried recovering the key with ProduKey and similar software but they show another product key - it is different than the one from the sticker (I checked on another asus laptop and on my dell laptop). Do you know if I it is possible to reinstall the operating system with the product key obtained from ProduKey? If not, how can I retrieve the product key? It seems stupid that it was only placed on the sticker that is destroyed after some time if you frequently hold the laptop on your lap. I've tried ProduKey and Recover Keys and they show the same key. However, it's not the one from the sticker. Thanks in advance for help.

  I need to recover some mails from a backed up OST file. Unfortunately, I deleted the corresponding IMAP mail account from Outlook. When I recreate the mail account and replace the created OST file with my backup I get the following error message: The file {path}.ost cannot be accessed because it has been configured for use with a different mailbox. How to solve this problem? Please don't suggest a OST to PST tool unless you know it works. I tried numerous of those tools from dubious looking websites and none worked. Please note: I am using Outlook 2013 Preview.

• Windows xp - recover document opened directly from IE

  Hi Attempting to help a family member recover a document. The word 2007 document was downloaded and opened directly from a webmail interface using Internet Explorer running on Windows XP. The user saved the document multiple times while working on it for the good part of a day. After closing Word 2007 the user is not able to locate the document, and I have so far not been able to help. The computer has not been turned off, and the user has not attempted to open the document directly from the mail again. Recreating the events on vista/windows 7 its easy enough to locate the document under the Temporary Internet Files folder. I have however not been able to do the same on a Windows XP. Any suggestion for how to locate this document, or if its even possible? Thanks

• Recover deleted files on windows 2008 file server

  We have recently been hit by a weird virus which made all files and folders a system files/folders and also it hid all files and folders par some weird ones it created including: ..exe porn.exe secret.exe password.exe etc We have managed to restore the files with attrib command to unhide and unmark them as system files however we have noticed that we are missing some 4 to 5 folders of which (based on my luck) 2 of them are the two most important client we have. I am not sure if these files were deleted by the worm/virus or by my colleagues who are not owning up to them but the files are now gone. Worst of all, we do not have any backup what so ever (Yes I know, we should not have done that but it is a lesson learned and since last night we have created two forms of backup systems one to external device and one on the cloud, but I doubt any of that will help us now) We have 1 Windows 2008 File server and 4 client computers based on Windows 2007. I would be grateful if anyone can help us on how we can recover from this disaster which could potentially put us out of business.

  I am on CentOS 5.5 and am running Xen. I have a large volume group that I create logical volumes on using lvcreate. Today I had a customer cancel her account, then change her mind about an hour later. Unfortunately I had already removed the LVM her Xen image resided on. (just using a standard lvremove ). There has been no other LVM activity on this disk since then (nothing else added or deleted). Is it possible to "undo" a lvremove, or recover logical volume? If so, how would I go about it?

  Hi I have a snap server 110 the machine powers on ok and the healthcheck passes but unable to connect no responce on the assigned ip or any ability to reach the device via the snap server manager. Believe the device is powering on but not loading the OS. Tried pulling the disk running and hooking up to a windows PC via USB, and using disk internals linux reader I am unable to access two of the partitions. ( one of which is the large data partition). There are three partitions on the the drice only one is accessible via Linux reader. I am looking to recover the data of the drive can anyone suggest a DIY option please?

  My situation: I have an older 80GB IDE internal hdd, with a few files on that I would like very much to recover: some word documents some latex documents (text files) and pictures (png, jpg, eps files) some other text documents and visual studio project files I had backed them (not the latex ones though) up using svn, but have not committed lately, and would loose a lot of work if I cant recover. the hdd seems to have lost its filesystem, i have no idea how it came about. I know it has/had 3 NTFS partitions, i know the files i want are on the second or third partition. I read http://superuser.com/questions/81877/recover-hard-disk-data Partition Find and Mount did not see all the partitions using intelligent scan TestDisk does (i think), I followed the step by step instructions here, but when I try to list the files it says: "Can't open filesystem, filesystem seems damaged." I'm not sure how to proceed here, as TestDisks wiki does not contain this error message afaik. I don't know if the hdd is gonna fail, or some prog has caused the filesystem to be corrupt, the hdd doesnt make a sound, so i guess that's good. I would like some guidance so I don't accidentally cause more damage. (eg. is it ok to let testdisk write the filesystem to disk? I'm pretty the partitions are listed ok, but not 100%)

• Recover LVM2 volume group after one HDD failed

  I had two HDDs, each one containing a LVM partition which formed a volume group. Then I had two LVs, one for my / directory and one for my /home/ directory. Yesterday where I had my / dir failed. I'm trying to recover at least my /home/ dir. What I've done so far: Boot a live system Extract LVM2 metadata from the working HDD using dd Copy metadata to /etc/lvm/backup/vg0 Now I'm trying to do this: pvcreate --restore /etc/lvm/backup/vg0 --uuid "[uuid of my working hdd]" /dev/sdb2 But I always get: Couldn't find device with uuid '[uuid of broken hdd]'. Couldn't find device with uuid '[uuid of working hdd]'. Device /dev/sdb2 not found (or ignored by filtering). I confirmed that /dev/sdb2 exists and I've commented out all filtering settings from /etc/lvm/lvm.conf so I don't know what might be causing pvcreate not to find the device. So: What might be the problem? Is it even possible to restore this partition? (As I'm writing this I'm starting to think it's impossible D:) Edit: Okay, looks like I've got it figured out. I was using a Ubuntu 8.10 CD (yeah, I know it's not supported anymore) and it seems that was the problem. When I started from a Ubuntu 10.04 CD everything worked 'fine', I could mount my LVM partitions partially without problems. (Will answer the question in 4 hours. But if anyone has still got some hints/tips, please share! :)

• How to recover the plesk database?

  When I try to launch the Plesk administration page of you server I get the following error: ERROR: PleskMainDBException MySQL query failed: MySQL server has gone away The MySQL Server is working well. Although it seems that the plesk database is somehow corrupt and any action on this database results in a restart of the mysql process, so even queries to other databases on the same MySQL server will be lost. If I try to connect to the plesk database using phpMyAdmin, I can only see the number of tables, the database had originally. But I am not able to open the tables listing. As soon as I try it, the mysql process crashes again. Trying to connect to the database using ssh works. I can even run a SELECT statement against any table an get a result. I don't know if it is an plesk error or an error of the psa database or even the MySQL server. Can you give me any tips on how to recover the plesk system. Should I try to repair the Plesk installation before. And if so, how can I do it and will all my settings get lost doing it? EDIT: Trying to dump the database, I get the following error: mysqldump: Got error: 2013: Lost connection to MySQL server during query when using LOCK TABLES

• Cross OS data recover question, USB drive involved.

  Here's the story: A MacBook had OS X 10.4 and Windows XP dual booting using rEFIt. Then the Windows partition gets corrupted and it won't boot. Presumably a virus. There were sensitive files there and those were successfully copied to a USB drive and then 10.5 was installed on the hard drive, formatting the drive in the process. The USB drive's contacts cracked and he data is lost from there, unless it can be resoldered. The issues is that there is too much solder there already. So, how can the data in question be recovered? The files were Microsoft Money (not the latest version) files for the Windows version of the program. Right now, only OS X is installed on the MacBook. Is there Mac based program that can recover the Windows data or am I better off trying to resolder the drive? Does anyone know how to best resolder a USB drive more than once, where the first solder is ther, but detached from the silicon? Also, what format (extension) are Microsoft Money files? In need of help!

• Recover data from a Thecus N4100 NAS jbod partition

  I have a Thecus N4100 NAS wich had a 2TB drive in it configured as jbod partition. Later I tried adding a second drive to expand the available space. I added it to the jbod configuration but I did not get any extra space. Then I tried removing the second drive but then the NAS system indicated the jbod configuration was damaged. After a reboot it told me there is no configuration and I need to create a new RAID/jbod configuration and that I would lose all data on the drive. Of course I did not do this, I took the 2TB drive and checked with Linux if the partition was still there and it is... completely intact. I found that linux recognizes it as a /dev/mdX device and that I should be able to mount it but I don't know the file system type. Anyway.... is there a way to recover the data? Since everything has always been on a single drive it should all be there right? I can connect the drive to Windows , Linux or MacOS so whatever gets the job done.

• Recover hard disk from Raw format

  I have been all over the web today with no results. So my drive was encrypted (truecrypt) the whole drive where windows resided. I decided to partition it to install W8 and forgot it was encrypted. So the drive got damaged and not accessible. When connected to a computer it asks for formatting. Somehow I enabled the drive through TrueCrypt on another computer and I could see and get all the files. Then I decided to decrypt the drive thinking that everything would be back to normal. After decryption my drive is not NTFS it is in RAW format. I am trying every possible way to recover, and I am desperate enough to ask lol. I tried: ddrescue (linux) (not mountable, no signature, ntfsfix no good) testdisk (linux and windows) Sees the partitions but cant do anything Many recovery applications. etc etc. I read in different places that doing a quickformat to NTFS and then doing a data recovery might help. I would definitely like a second opinion. Any suggestion would be really helpful
