  • How to Customize the Internet Explorer 8 Title Bar

    - by Mysticgeek
If you’re looking for a way to personalize IE 8, one method is to customize the Title Bar. Here we look at a simple Registry hack that will get the job done. The Internet Explorer Title Bar is displayed on the top of the browser with the site name followed by Windows Internet Explorer by default. If you have a small office you might want to change it to the company name, or just change it something more personal at home.   Customize the IE 8 Title Bar Note: Before making any changes to the Registry, make sure to back it up. The first thing we need to do is open the Registry by typing regedit into the Search box in the Start Menu and hit Enter. With the Registry open, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main. Then create a new String Value and name it Window Title. Right-click on the Window Title String and enter in whatever you want to display on the Title Bar in the Value data field and click OK. When you’re done, you should see the new String called Windows Title with whatever you entered in as the value. Close out of the Registry. Restart or launch Internet Explorer and you’ll now see your new text in the Title Bar. If you want to change it to something else, just go in and modify the Value data. If you want to switch it back to the default, just go back in and delete the string we created. A lot of times you’ll see corporate branding already in the title bar from your ISP or some computer company. To get rid of it, check out The Geek’s article on how to remove it. This should work with other versions of Internet Explorer as well. • Problem with upper-case and lower-case xpath functions in selenium IDE

    - by Aristotelis
Hi, I am trying to get a xpath query using the xpath function lower-case or uppper-case, but they seem to not work in selenium (where I test my xpath before I apply it). Example that does NOT work: //*[.=upper-case('some text')] I have no problem locating the nodes I need in complex path and even using aggregated functions, as long as I don't use the upper and lower case. Has anyone encountered this before? Does it make sense? Thanks.

  • iPhone Title and Subtitle in Navigation Bar

    - by Reuven
    Hi there, In my application, I'd like to have the navigation bar display a title and subtitle. To that extent, I added the following code to my view controller: // Replace titleView CGRect headerTitleSubtitleFrame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 200, 44); UIView* _headerTitleSubtitleView = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:headerTitleSubtitleFrame] autorelease]; _headerTitleSubtitleView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; _headerTitleSubtitleView.autoresizesSubviews = YES; CGRect titleFrame = CGRectMake(0, 2, 200, 24); UILabel *titleView = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:titleFrame] autorelease]; titleView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; titleView.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]; titleView.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; titleView.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; titleView.shadowColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor]; titleView.shadowOffset = CGSizeMake(0, -1); titleView.text = @""; titleView.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = YES; [_headerTitleSubtitleView addSubview:titleView]; CGRect subtitleFrame = CGRectMake(0, 24, 200, 44-24); UILabel *subtitleView = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:subtitleFrame] autorelease]; subtitleView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; subtitleView.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:13]; subtitleView.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; subtitleView.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; subtitleView.shadowColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor]; subtitleView.shadowOffset = CGSizeMake(0, -1); subtitleView.text = @""; subtitleView.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = YES; [_headerTitleSubtitleView addSubview:subtitleView]; _headerTitleSubtitleView.autoresizingMask = (UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleTopMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin); self.navigationItem.titleView = _headerTitleSubtitleView; And also implemented a method: -(void) setHeaderTitle:(NSString*)headerTitle andSubtitle:(NSString*)headerSubtitle { assert(self.navigationItem.titleView != nil); UIView* headerTitleSubtitleView = self.navigationItem.titleView; UILabel* titleView = [headerTitleSubtitleView.subviews objectAtIndex:0]; UILabel* subtitleView = [headerTitleSubtitleView.subviews objectAtIndex:1]; assert((titleView != nil) && (subtitleView != nil) && ([titleView isKindOfClass:[UILabel class]]) && ([subtitleView isKindOfClass:[UILabel class]])); titleView.text = headerTitle; subtitleView.text = headerSubtitle; } Things work beautifully, thanks. Except that when rotating the iPhone to Landscape, the title+subtitle don't downsize in an automatic manner like the default title of the navigation item. Any pointers? Thanks!

  • Github Project Wiki: separate page filename from page title

    - by Marko Apfel
Starting Point In a former version of a project wiki on Github was a separation between the page filename and page title. So we build up our Wiki in a manner, that some well defined prefixes in the filename describe the overall context of the particular page. Sample: At the page themselves we used a title-tag on top of the page to get the title in the rendered HTML-page. Here “= Tabelle: Anhänge bzw. Attachments” for the page with filename “data+table+Attachment”. This was rendered as We see: there is a file “data+table+Attachment” and a title-tag “= Tabelle: Anhänge bzw. Attachments” as well as a rendering with the title “Tabelle: Anhänge bzw. Attachments”. This was fine. Problem Now the Github-Wiki uses the title of the page as the filename and vice versa. This ends up in a cluttered file system and also in suppressing titles in the page themselves. So this page renders to As we could see: the title tag “= Organisation: IT-Infrastruktur” is not more rendered. Instead the filename “organisation+IT Infrastructure” is choosen as the title for the page. That sucks. Solution I reported this by Github again and hope for a fix.

  • Title of the page in search results and title of google's cached version are different. Why?

    - by Azmorf
Check this: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:gunlawsbystate.com+kansas+gun+laws The title of the first result is "Kansas Gun Laws - Gun Laws By State". Although, on the page google has cached the title is different: <title>Kansas Gun Laws - Kansas Gun Law - Reciprocity Guide</title> Google shows the title that has been on the site 2-3 months ago. Google bot has visited the website a lot of times since that, and as you see it even cached it (the latest version is of 15th Sept), however for some reason it doesn't change the title to the new one in the search results. We use hash-bang URL structure on this website. It completely meets google's requirements for AJAX websites (_escaped_fragment_ stuff). The issue I explained is happening with almost all hash-bang pages that got indexed. Questions: Why does it keep old page title in the search results? Can it be connected to the fact that I'm using hash-bang URLs? There are lots of pages on the site that have the same issue, all of them have hash-bang URLs. Another thing I noticed is that Google's "Preview" feature doesn't work for any hash-bang URLs on the site. Did I do anything wrong? It has got cached versions of the pages, why wouldn't it generate a preview? Thanks (and sorry for my English) PS. Here's a weird thing I also noticed: this search query https://www.google.com/search?q=Kansas+Gun+Laws+-+Reciprocity+Guide shows the correct title for the same page as in the example above. Why does google show different titles for the same page when you run different queries?

  • Case for Micro SD card?

    - by Josh
I have a MicroSD card which I'd like to keep with me at all times, I.E. in my wallet. I'm looking for a case for it. But all the cases I can find seem to be for standard SD cards... the closest I could find was this: Which is completly pointless, it stores the Micro SD card along with it's adaptor. Why not just put the Micro SD card IN the adaptor and store both on a normal SD card case... Anyway, does what I'm looking for (a case to protect a microSD card, and only large enough for a mircoSD card, i.e. not what's pictured above) exist?

  • Moving case sensitive Linux files via Windows

    - by sunwukung
Hi the company I work for is currently trying to move a Magento installation from one server to another - however, the product images are saved in folders alphabetically indexed folders - but with an added twist, some of the letters are the same but have a different case - i.e. a, A, b, C, D, e, E, f, F, G, h, I That being the case, when we try to drag those files down from FTP in order to move them, Windows does not honour the case sensitive distinction and we are losing several image folders. Is there a simple workaround for this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated. regards SWK

  • Filename Case issue with over WebDav

    - by user98365
We are accessing SAMBA shared directory from a Windows Client with WebDav client WebDrive. But we are having the issue that it is showing same contents in both the directories ( data/ & Data/ ) though they are entirely different. I know this is because of Windows Filesystem being case insensitive and Linux being Case Sensitive. is there any solution for this? We had the same issue when viewed through the SAMBA mounted directory but we solved it by editing the SMB.conf as said in the following link Does Samba work well with Windows when case-sensitive names are enabled? Please help to solve this when accessed from the WebDav

  • Get Application Title from Windows Phone

    - by psheriff
In a Windows Phone application that I am currently developing I needed to be able to retrieve the Application Title of the phone application. You can set the Deployment Title in the Properties of your Windows Phone Application, however getting to this value programmatically can be a little tricky. This article assumes that you have Visual Studio 2010 and the Windows Phone tools installed along with it. The Windows Phone tools must be downloaded separately and installed with Visual Studio2010. You may also download the free Visual Studio2010 Express for Windows Phone developer environment. The WMAppManifest.xml File First off you need to understand that when you set the Deployment Title in the Properties windows of your Windows Phone application, this title actually gets stored into an XML file located under the \Properties folder of your application. This XML file is named WMAppManifest.xml. A portion of this file is shown in the following listing. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><Deployment  http://schemas.microsoft.com/windowsphone/2009/deployment"http://schemas.microsoft.com/windowsphone/2009/deployment"  AppPlatformVersion="7.0">  <App xmlns=""       ProductID="{71d20842-9acc-4f2f-b0e0-8ef79842ea53}"       Title="Mobile Time Track"       RuntimeType="Silverlight"       Version="1.0.0.0"       Genre="apps.normal"       Author="PDSA, Inc."       Description="Mobile Time Track"       Publisher="PDSA, Inc."> ... ...  </App></Deployment> Notice the “Title” attribute in the <App> element in the above XML document. This is the value that gets set when you modify the Deployment Title in your Properties Window of your Phone project. The only value you can set from the Properties Window is the Title. All of the other attributes you see here must be set by going into the XML file and modifying them directly. Note that this information duplicates some of the information that you can also set from the Assembly Information… button in the Properties Window. Why Microsoft did not just use that information, I don’t know. Reading Attributes from WMAppManifest I searched all over the namespaces and classes within the Windows Phone DLLs and could not find a way to read the attributes within the <App> element. Thus, I had to resort to good old fashioned XML processing. First off I created a WinPhoneCommon class and added two static methods as shown in the snippet below: public class WinPhoneCommon{  /// <summary>  /// Returns the Application Title   /// from the WMAppManifest.xml file  /// </summary>  /// <returns>The application title</returns>  public static string GetApplicationTitle()  {    return GetWinPhoneAttribute("Title");  }   /// <summary>  /// Returns the Application Description   /// from the WMAppManifest.xml file  /// </summary>  /// <returns>The application description</returns>  public static string GetApplicationDescription()  {    return GetWinPhoneAttribute("Description");  }   ... GetWinPhoneAttribute method here ...} In your Windows Phone application you can now simply call WinPhoneCommon.GetApplicationTitle() or WinPhone.GetApplicationDescription() to retrieve the Title or Description properties from the WMAppManifest.xml file respectively. You notice that each of these methods makes a call to the GetWinPhoneAttribute method. This method is shown in the following code snippet: /// <summary>/// Gets an attribute from the Windows Phone WMAppManifest.xml file/// To use this method, add a reference to the System.Xml.Linq DLL/// </summary>/// <param name="attributeName">The attribute to read</param>/// <returns>The Attribute's Value</returns>private static string GetWinPhoneAttribute(string attributeName){  string ret = string.Empty;   try  {    XElement xe = XElement.Load("WMAppManifest.xml");    var attr = (from manifest in xe.Descendants("App")                select manifest).SingleOrDefault();    if (attr != null)      ret = attr.Attribute(attributeName).Value;  }  catch  {    // Ignore errors in case this method is called    // from design time in VS.NET  }   return ret;} I love using the new LINQ to XML classes contained in the System.Xml.Linq.dll. When I did a Bing search the only samples I found for reading attribute information from WMAppManifest.xml used either an XmlReader or XmlReaderSettings objects. These are fine and work, but involve a little extra code. Instead of using these, I added a reference to the System.Xml.Linq.dll, then added two using statements to the top of the WinPhoneCommon class: using System.Linq;using System.Xml.Linq; Now, with just a few lines of LINQ to XML code you can read to the App element and extract the appropriate attribute that you pass into the GetWinPhoneAttribute method. Notice that I added a little bit of exception handling code in this method. I ignore the exception in case you call this method in the Loaded event of a user control. In design-time you cannot access the WMAppManifest file and thus an exception would be thrown. Summary In this article you learned how to retrieve the attributes from the WMAppManifest.xml file. I use this technique to grab information that I would otherwise have to hard-code in my application. Getting the Title or Description for your Windows Phone application is easy with just a little bit of LINQ to XML code. • recommendation for good chassis (case) for first time PC builder

    - by studiohack
I've been thinking about building my own machine for some time now, and whenever I look at the PC case market, it seems like cases are a dime-a-dozen. As a result, I'm wondering what cases Super Users would recommend in the areas of ease of use, cable management, cooling, etc...in other words, an all-around case for a first time PC builder. Thanks!

  • Why is NTFS case sensitive?

    - by Luke
I personally thought that NTFS was case insensitive, since you can type cmd, CMD, cMd or even CmD and still get the command prompt. However, why is it that during a CHKDSK x: /f /r, sometimes it fixes capitalization in some files? If it didn't care about the case, it shouldn't matter about that, and CHKDSK shouldn't be checking if it's actually CMD or cmd. Am I right? Where does it actually matter in the file system?

  • How do I add html link to image title

    - by Jason
I'm actually needing to include html links in the longdesc attribute. I've altered prettyphoto to use longdesc instead of title for images, but I need to include html links in those descriptions. I know it's possible with code for characters, I just don't remember what those are. Thanks

  • h1 title attribute [closed]

    - by codemonkey
Possible Duplicate: Why don't TITLE tags get indexed in google? Hello there, I have a h1 element on my page which is working great. I have also been using the title attribute on this element which I don't think has been causing much harm at all. My h1 title is "The Great Ocean Road" and the title attribute on that is "Great Ocean Road" - so it's a variation of the h1 text. These are both keywords for the site so i'm hoping it's a good thing for seo. Is that a bad idea do you think? I'm not sure what Search Engines think about using a title attribute or even if they would 'mark me down' for doing it in such a way. Do you think if the h1 text is "The Great Ocean Road", the title attribute should be "The Great Ocean Road" aswell? Thank you in advance

  • correct way to create a pivot table in postgresql using CASE WHEN

    - by mojones
I am trying to create a pivot table type view in postgresql and am nearly there! Here is the basic query: select acc2tax_node.acc, tax_node.name, tax_node.rank from tax_node, acc2tax_node where tax_node.taxid=acc2tax_node.taxid and acc2tax_node.acc='AJ012531'; And the data: acc | name | rank ----------+-------------------------+-------------- AJ012531 | Paromalostomum fusculum | species AJ012531 | Paromalostomum | genus AJ012531 | Macrostomidae | family AJ012531 | Macrostomida | order AJ012531 | Macrostomorpha | no rank AJ012531 | Turbellaria | class AJ012531 | Platyhelminthes | phylum AJ012531 | Acoelomata | no rank AJ012531 | Bilateria | no rank AJ012531 | Eumetazoa | no rank AJ012531 | Metazoa | kingdom AJ012531 | Fungi/Metazoa group | no rank AJ012531 | Eukaryota | superkingdom AJ012531 | cellular organisms | no rank What I am trying to get is the following: acc | species | phylum AJ012531 | Paromalostomum fusculum | Platyhelminthes I am trying to do this with CASE WHEN, so I've got as far as the following: select acc2tax_node.acc, CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'species' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END as species, CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'phylum' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END as phylum from tax_node, acc2tax_node where tax_node.taxid=acc2tax_node.taxid and acc2tax_node.acc='AJ012531'; Which gives me the output: acc | species | phylum ----------+-------------------------+----------------- AJ012531 | Paromalostomum fusculum | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | Platyhelminthes AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | AJ012531 | | Now I know that I have to group by acc at some point, so I try select acc2tax_node.acc, CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'species' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END as sp, CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'phylum' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END as ph from tax_node, acc2tax_node where tax_node.taxid=acc2tax_node.taxid and acc2tax_node.acc='AJ012531' group by acc2tax_node.acc; But I get the dreaded ERROR: column "tax_node.rank" must appear in the GROUP BY clause or be used in an aggregate function All the previous examples I've been able to find use something like SUM() around the CASE statements, so I guess that is the aggregate function. I have tried using FIRST(): select acc2tax_node.acc, FIRST(CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'species' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END) as sp, FIRST(CASE tax_node.rank WHEN 'phylum' THEN tax_node.name ELSE NULL END) as ph from tax_node, acc2tax_node where tax_node.taxid=acc2tax_node.taxid and acc2tax_node.acc='AJ012531' group by acc2tax_node.acc; but get the error: ERROR: function first(character varying) does not exist Can anyone offer any hints?

  • Converting upper-case string into title-case using Ruby

    - by wsb3383
Hi, all. I'm trying to convert an all-uppercase string in Ruby into a lower case one, but with each word's first character being upper case. Example: convert "MY STRING HERE" to "My String Here". I know I can use the .downcase method, but that would make everything lower case ("my string here"). I'm scanning all lines in a file and doing this change, so is there a regular expression I can use through ruby to achieve this? Thanks!
