  • How can you represent a .NET DataType in a UML Diagram

    I am new to UML diagramming, but I'm trying to learn the ropes. Using a tool such as Visio or AgroUML how would you represent a .NET Datatype in your diagram? Two examples that I would like to do: DataTable List<MyObject> The only method I see right now is creating a class that represents a datatable. As far as representing collections, I can't find any method to do that. Thanks!

  • Representing Objective C Protocols on UML class diagrams

    How should i correctly reference protocols on a UML class diagram? For example my ListViewController conforms to the UITableViewDataSource and UITableViewDelegate protocols... where do i put the cellForRowAtIndexPath or numberOfRowsInSection methods? ... in ListViewController where they are implemented or in something like this: <<Protocol>> UITableViewDataSource --------------------- --------------------- -numberOfRowsInSection If i did the latter what would be the association between the ListViewController class and the protocol box be? All i have to show is how i hook into Cocoa Touch some how. Thanks.

    I need to make a UML class diagram for a project. I used Sparx Enterprise Architect in the past to generate source code from a diagram so I'm using that. The project is complete so all of the code is done and I don't really want to write all the classes / functions manually, so I was trying to generate the diagram from the source code but can't seem to find a way to do it.   • Link objects as fields in UML diagram

    I'm trying to generate a diagram for a design document. I've generated a class diagram in VS. At the moment it's just a bunch of unconnected boxes as there isn't any inheritance going on. It feels like it would be more useful if I could show how the objects interact through properties and parameters. As an example, a Boy class has a method Kiss which takes a Girl object. How can I show that Boy and Girl interact by connecting this in the diagram? Is there a notation for this in UML? Or is there another type of diagram that shows this? Can I make VS draw this connection for me somehow? Or is this a silly/useless idea? It just doesn't feel like a proper diagram unless it's got some lines on it somewhere :)

    Heys guys! Im have been study UML and im trying to to design the use case diagram of a problem. Lets supose my app consists in this: Two Requesites: - create teams - create players This is the deal: A user can create a team, and after create a team he can create players for that team(not required). But in this app there are multiple users, and a user can create a team and other user can create players. The only constraint is that to create players must exist alreay a team. I research and i end up a little confuse. If i get the concepts of relations on use case diagrams right, i think i should have the folowwing two use cases: [use case - create team] <-------extends---- [use case - create player] I need opinions,Is this the proper solution? or should i have two not related use cases?   • Cross-referencing UML models in VS 2010

    I am just starting to explore/use the UML modeling support in Visual Studio 2010 Umltimate. I have created two model projects within a single solution. Let's call them Model A and Model B. I have some data types (classes) defined in Model B. I want to use them as return types for operations in Model A. However, I cannot figure out how to make the types defined in Model B show up in Model A when attempting to set return type on an operation. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!   • UML class diagram vs ER database diagram

    Hi, I'm a little confused, I'm developing a program, the program consist in two parts, the server and the clients, there are groups, places, messages... stored in the server, and the clients has to connect with it. I've design the use cases diagram, the activity diagrams, and I have design the class diagram too. The thing is that I want to implement the server in a mysql tables for storing the users, groups, places... users in groups... so I've designed a E-R diagram consisting in 6 tables, but the problem is that I think that my class diagram and my ER diagram looks too similar, I mean, I think I'm not doing things right because I have a class for each table practically, and when I have to extract all the users on my system, do I have to convert all the rows into objects at first and write in the database for each object modified? The easy choice for me would be to base my whole application only in the database, and making a class to extract and insert data in it, but I have to follow the UML specification and I'm a little confused what to do with the class diagram, because the books I have read say that I have to create a class for each "entity" of my program. Sorry for my bad English. Thank you.

    Looking for a tool that can test a daul-core cpu via a boot disc, thus bypassing Windows (and ensuring that only the hardware is being tested). UBCD4Win's included Prime95 is an older version and it can't run two threads at once. Ditto for UBCD. Any idea? And while I'm asking, is there a boot tool for GPU's? Thanks!

    I am looking for a UI functionality modelling language (UML-alike "thing", but for user interfaces) that is already accepted and maybe has its design patterns and handles the problem better than state or activity diagram. (If there is no such thing I'm planning to develop that BTW :)) This question came to mind as a result of a discovery that UML and its diagrams fails at describing complicated UI functionality with event-driven flow of execution (ie. javascript/jQuery big projects) EDIT: I've been thinking of using BPMN but It was not created for this purpose. EDIT2: See this community topic of mine - I decided to start developing said language.

    Is there a tool to do round trip software engineering between a sequence diagram and a group of objects that message back and forth? Perhaps this seems a little exotic, but it seems like a function that includes message calls or even method invocations on other objects could be automatically converted to a sequence diagram given that it is not hard to do manually. Similarly, when a sequence diagram is modified, based on the message name and type of message, should it not be possible to add a message or method to the calling object?

Im finding Enterprise Architect and Visio a bit to cryptic for a beginner.
