  • Which messaging interfaces can BlackBerry apps modify?

    Does the native Blackberry API allow for the modification of any messaging interface? For example, I'd like to be able to build an app that added a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messages, eg SMS, email and BB messaging? The translation aspect is not relevant, it just provides the context for the kind of feature I'm after.

    Hello, I'm puzzled by this email message that gets quarantined by McAfee Secure Messaging Service (it's based on Postini) for no reason that I can think of. Can anyone explain to me why the final score is so low when none of the filters were triggered? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening? Regards, Martin

    We're trying to move an ASP.NET MVC application, which uses DotNetOpenAuth OpenID Version 3.4.1, from a single server web garden to a physical server cluster held behind a hardware load balancer. We suspected the issue is arising as a result of the cluster node having a different IP from the load balancer when it connects to the OpenID Provider, but we're not sure. Any ideas?

  • possible to make text messaging with php have a constant "telephone number" value?

    hello, i have an iphone 3g and can successfully send text messages using the PHP mail() function. My issue is that for each message i receive, the "telephone number" associated with the incoming text message changes each time. If possible, I would like to somehow make this number constant so that I can take advantage of iphone's ability to aggregate all text messages from the same telephone number -Otherwise my iphone would be cluttered with messages. Is there a way to do this? an example of the numbers I receive would be 1(410) 000-001, 1(410) 000-002, 1(410) 000-003, etc... can i make this constant somehow? $message = stripslashes("new user just joined!"); mail("[email protected]", "Subject", "$message"); please let me know! thanks...

    I would like to write a messaging system using TCP IP in Delphi 2010. I would like to hear what my best options are for using the standard delphi 2010 components/indy components for doing this. I would like to write a server which does the listening and forwarding of messages to all machines on the network running a client. 1.) a.) clients can send a message to server to be forwarded to all other clients b.) clients listen for messages from other senders (via server) and displays messages. 2.) a.) Server can send a message to all clients b.) Server forwards any messages from clients to all other clients thanks for any suggestions NOTE: I am not writing a instant messaging or chat program. This is merely a system where users can send alerts/messages to other users - they can not reply to each other! NO commercial, shareware, etc links - please! I would like to hear about how you would go about writing this type of system and what approachs you would take, and possibly the TCP IP messaging architecture you would use. Whether it be straight Winows API, Indy components, etc, etc.

  • Application wide messaging... without singletons?

    So, I want to go for a more Singleton - less design in the future. However, there seem to be a lot of tasks in an application that can't be done in meaningful way without singletons. I call them "application wide services", but they also fall into the same category as the cross cutting concerns, which I usually fix via AOP. Lets take an example: I want an application wide message queue that dispatches messages to components, every component can subscribe and publish there, it's a very nice multicast thing. The message queue and dispatching system are usually a (rather short) singleton class, which is very easy to implement in, say, C#. You can even use double dispatching and utilize message type metadata and the like, it's all so easy to do, it's almost trivial. However, having singletons is not really "object oriented design" (it introduces global variables) and it makes testing harder. Do you have any ideas? I'm asking this question because I'm willing to learn more about this topic, a LOT more. :-)

  • Installing messaging software displays error 1324 invalid character

    Trying to install Reuters Messaging software onto a windows 7 pc we receive the error message Error 1324: The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character We've tried installing the application using the local admin account and the user account which is an AD account (roaming?). This user account has administrative rights (i.e. should be allowed to install applications). The users 'My Documents' folder is located on a network drive, where only the user has access. We've tried experimenting with the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer\ User Shell Folders registry entries and setting them to a local position (i.e. C:\Users\Username\Documents) but this didn't resolve the error. We've also tried the following which was taken from a website I can't remember the name of: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem Select the NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation entry and change the value to 0 Select the Win31FileSystem entry and change the value to 0 which didn't resolve the issue. Edit: This was also an issue when attempting to install the citrix native client necessary to run citrix application (*.ica extension). This made the same error box appear.

    At work we have an in-house chat system using CUPC. Does anyone else out there use this? There are a few things I do not like about this client: Where's the chat log? If I close the window out, I have no way of getting my conversation back. Tabbed interface? That would be nice. I hate having multiple chat windows up, having to arrange them around my desktop as more people start talking to me. I don't like that I have to use this one-off application for this protocol when other chat clients will handle 99% of the other protocols I use. Tell me: Is the protcol an open standard for which other applications have support? (pidgin, adium, digsby, etc.) If not, can I overcome these issues from within CUPC? Perhaps there are newer versions of the client that overcome these issues.

    I am writing a report which requires the analysis of performance of each individual team member. This is for a software development project developed using the Unified Process (UP). I was just wondering if there are any existing group & individual appraisal metrics used so I don't have to reinvent the wheel... EDIT This is by no means correct but something like: Individual Contribution (IC) = time spent (individual) / time spent (total) = Performance = ? (should use individual contribution (IC) combined with something to gain a measure of overall performance).... Maybe I am talking complete hash and I know generally its really difficult to analyse performance with numbers but any mathematicians out there that can lend a hand or know a somewhat more accurate method of analysing performance than arbitrary marking (e.g. 8 out 10)

So when I select Facebook from the list given in Online Accounts a window opens up for me to authorize access and a url opens saying: Success SECURITY WARNING: Please treat the URL above as you would your password and do not share it with anyone. Although after this nothing happens... When I open the messenger nothing comes up and in Online Accounts it still asks: Please authorize Ubuntu to access your Facebook account... but I have already given permission... Please help me out.     Need some advice from experts on designing a flow. Create a service that will read a csv file which may contain anywhere over 6000+ rows of individual ids as shown in the sample below. Need to read that file and go to oracle database and fetch a vname,vnumber,vid of each id in the csv and then go to document repository i.e. Oracle UCM and download all documents matching vname,vnumber,vid there can be =0 documents for each vname,vnumber,vid and save them on a file system. UCM exposes a webservice to dowload the documents. Finally create a new csv appending the filenames that are downloaded for each id. Need to keep track of any errors but need to make sure to go over the whole ids in the csv to download the documents and skip in case of errors. Need some advice on how to go about designing this as there may be over 6000+ rows in a csv file and looping it and hitting the database for each individual id and then hitting a UCM may be a bit expensive so open for any idea. How to go by designing this solution. Wondering if messaging can be helpful here or offloading process of getting the vname,vnumber,vid to pl/sql packages, creating staging tables etc. Initial csv that contains ids: **ID** 12345a 12s345 3456fr we9795 we9797 Final csv output: **ID Files Downloaded from UCM** 12345a a.pdf,b.doc,d.txt 12s345 a1.pdf,s2.pdf,f4.gif 3456fr b.xls we9795 we9797 x.doc Thanks

    I am trying to connect to Office Communication Server using the Unified Communications Managed API. I have tried my user and a fresh user enabled for OCS. Both account can successfully log into the Office Communicator client, but fail using the API. When creating the network credential, if I pass in the username in the form domain\username, I get this error: SupportedAuthenticationProtocols=Ntlm, Kerberos Realm=SIP Communications Service FailureReason=InvalidCredentials ErrorCode=-2146893044 Microsoft.Rtc.Signaling.AuthenticationException: The log on was denied. Check that the proper credentials are being used and the account is active. ---> Microsoft.Rtc.Internal.Sip.AuthException: NegotiateSecurityAssociation failed, error: - 2146893044 If I leave off the domain in the username I this error: ResponseCode=404 ResponseText=Not Found DiagnosticInformation=ErrorCode=4005,Source=OCS.mydomain.com,Reason=Destination URI either not enabled for SIP or does not exist

    I am considering doing a project which would provide unified API and tools (import/export, etc.) for object databases (e.g. Caché, Objectivity) for .NET. It would provide: schema generation from CLR classes, generation of C# classes from given OODBMs schema, API for deleting, creating and updating objects, Linq provider, API for calling object's methods on DB server, some of OODBMs provide some kind of SQL support, so API for this, providers for Caché and Objectivity in first phase. Does any project which implements any of above exist? Can this be achieved with NHibernate dialects? or are OODBMs so different than RDBMs that it worth doing separate framework for them?

    I've been struggling with this "simple" task for more expirienced people, I'm stuck for 2 days now need help. I've changed things arround like zillion times now, finally I stumbled upon this spring JMS tutorial. What I want to do, Send a message and receive it. I've been also reading this book chapter 8 on messaging. It really nicely explains 2 type of messaging and there is nice example for publish-and-subscribe type but now example for point-to-point messaging( this is the one I need).   • Suggestions for GUI of a multiledia messaging application in J2ME

    Hello everyone, We have developed a messaging application in j2me which adds text message, gets pictures from gallery and attaches them to the message etc and sends it over to a server after encryption, i.e. the client wants the messages to be encrypted. The app is ready but the only problem is that the GUI of the app looks miserable compared to the GUI of native messaging application on Nokia phones. Our GUI consists of a texfield for adding recipients i.e. the user clicks "options" to "add recipients" and is taken to a new form where contacts are shown. but the textfield is not in one line (like in case of native app). Also, we need the user to input the text message in a textField since we cannot have textbox inside a form (but the native app has a textbox as well as a textField ). Are there any ways to achieve such GUIs (one-line textfields, textbox like thing inside a form)? I hope you all understand what I mean, any kind of help will be appreciated.   • Which persistent & lightweight queue messaging for cross domain (> 2) data exchange with rails integ

    Hi all, I'm looking for the right messaging system for my needs. Can you help me ? For now, there won't be a huge amount of data to process, but I don't want to be limited later ... The machines are not just web servers, so the messaging tool should be lightweight, even if processing is not very speed. When some data change on a server, all servers should have the information and process it locally. (should I create one channel per server on each of them ?) The frontend is written on Rails, so it is important, in order to simplify the development, that there is a gem / plugin to manage communications and data sent. At this time : RabbitMQ + workling seems to fit my needs. Could this be a right choice ? ActiveMQ make me afraid, because of Java (I really don't know very well Java, but it seems to me to be big CPU consumer) Others don't seem to be as mature as them. There might be lot of development using this kind of technology, so I can't go to the wrong way ! Thank you for help.
