  • How can I expose an Objective-C function to JavaScript using WebKit on Mac OS X?

    I understand to do this on the iPhone you need to trap link requests (as per my other iPhone question UIWebView Expose JavaScript) and you can easily do the reverse and access JavaScript from Obj-C code. However, I would like to have JavaScript be able to call some Objective-C functions that would somehow be registered with WebKit. I assume that you can do this better than trapping links like on the iPhone as on Mac OS X we have access to the full WebKit. I wish to basically do the reverse of Using JavaScript from Objective-C

(It should run not just in IE but on WebKit based windows browsers too) During App install we suppose that user is Admin and is running Vista or Windows 7 or Later. So my question is - Where to get examples of such interaction (WITH source of course)? So how to make WebKit based Browser or IE call your .Net application?

    I wrote a simple Qt application (Windows+Mac) that uses QtWebKit to render a web site inside a window. But I already saw differences in layout and behavior between our app and Chrome (that uses WebKit as well), e.g.: - different fonts are displayed for the same web page - an html anchor link with "javascript:someFunction()" is not working Is there somewhere a summary list of all such differences (not the entire QtWebKit bug list)? Also: is there a way to use a WebKit version more similar to Chrome in my application?

  • Issue with CSS font color in Webkit in Lion (#444 looks darker than #333)

    I have a strange issue with Safari and Chrome Mac (19.0.1084.54) in OS X Lion. Here it is, very simply put: When I display it in a Webkit browser, text set in Helvetica Neue and color Hex #444 looks a little bolder, and therefore darker, than the same text with an Hex color value of #333. This does not happen at all in Snow Leopard with the exact same browsers (same version). Happens on any website I tried, so I know it's not something related to the CSS of my website. I tried to change it live through the Inspector and it really shows up.   • -webkit-linear-gradient Not working in Dreamweaver CS6

    I've tried multiple times to apply the following piece of code in a CSS document: display: block; width: 500px; margin: 500px auto; padding: 15px; text-align: center; border: 4px solid blue; background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top,black,white); outline: 7px solid red; Everything appears correctly, except the gradient. I have CS6 Live View turned on, and it still refuses to appear. All I get in my box is a white background, as opposed to the black to white gradient. However, when I type the same line of code into the trial of Coda 2 I downloaded, it works perfectly. Is there anything I can do to resolve the issue?

    I'm currently trying to use JavaScript to find out how far down the page the user has scrolled; for Firefox 8.0, the keyword is pageYOffset. To say things mechanically: The page has a certain height. In Firefox, the useful object is document.documentElement.scrollHeight. The browser's visible area also has a certain height. In Firefox, the object is window.innerHeight; in IE8, document.documentElement.clientHeight. I need to know where the user is in the page vertically; in other words, how many pixels down the page the user has scrolled. Does Webkit have a DOM object that refers to the current scroll position?   • CSS3 Continous Rotate Animation (Just like a loading sundial)

    Hi, I am trying to replicate an Apple style activity indicator (sundial loading icon) by using a PNG and CSS3 animation. I have the image rotating and doing it continuously, but there seems to be a delay after the animation has finished before it does the next rotation. @-webkit-keyframes rotate { from { -webkit-transform: rotate(0deg); } to { -webkit-transform: rotate(360deg); } } #loading img { -webkit-animation-name: rotate; -webkit-animation-duration: 0.5s; -webkit-animation-iteration-count: infinite; -webkit-transition-timing-function: linear; } I have tried changing the animation duration but it makes no difference, if you slow it right down say 5s its just more apparent that after the first rotation there is a pause before it rotates again. It's this pause I want to get rid of. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

  • HTML5 drag & drop: The dragged element content is missing in Webkit browsers.

    I'm trying to implement something similar to a cart where you can drop items from a list. This items (<li> elements) has some elements inside (divs, span, and that stuff). The drag and drop itself works great. But the dragged element's image doesn't show its content in Webkit browsers. My list element has a border an a background color. In Firefox, the image is the whole item. In Webkit browsers, only the dragged element without content. I see the background and border, but without text inside.   • Is there a way for -webkit-animtion-timing-function to apply to the entire animation instead of each keyframe?

    I'm a bit new to animation, so forgive me if I'm missing a huge concept here. I need to animate an arrow that is pointing to a point on a curve, let's just say it's a cubic curve for the sake of this post. The arrow moves along the curve's line, always pointing a few pixels below it. So what I did, is I setup keyframes along the curve's line using CSS3: @-webkit-keyframes ftch { 0% { opacity: 0; left: -10px; bottom: 12px; } 25% { opacity: 0.25; left: 56.5px; bottom: -7px; } 50% { opacity: 0.5; left: 143px; bottom: -20px; } 75% { opacity: 0.75; left: 209.5px; bottom: -24.5px; } 100% { opacity: 1; left: 266px; bottom: -26px; } } However, when I run this animation using -webkit-animation-timing-function: ease-in, it applies that easing to each individual keyframe, which is definitely not what I want. I want the easing to apply to the entire animation. Is there a different way that I should be doing this? Is there some property to apply the easing to the entire sequence rather than each keyframe?

  • Play videos with libwebkit in Ubuntu 11.10 server

    I'm using libwebkit (with python-webkit) to render a page that plays a video. This application works fine in a Ubuntu 11.04 Desktop, Nvidia card and lots of libraries and software installed, but in a fresh Ubuntu 11.10 Server with intel 82945G/GZ card the video does not play. I guess either some codec package is missing or it's a driver problem. What could be missing for this to play? I'm trying with this video: http://video.eustasy.co.uk/480/ EDIT: doesn't look like a driver problem. With chromium I can play the video, but with libwebkit + python-webkit the video just shows the first frame and doesn't play. Any hints on what package could be missing? SOLVED: apparently it had to do with lack of audio. While chrome would play the video with no sound, libwebkit wouldn't start video. Adding user to audio and video groups solved the problem.

    I'd like to be able to mimic the behavior of the :active pseudo class on all elements in Android webkit. Currently, the :active syntax only works on a elements (links).     Hi, I'd love to know if there is such thing as a Gecko.NET ;) I mean, just like we can embed a WebView and that is an "instance" of IE7 inside any Windows Forms application (and tell it to "navigateto (fancy_url);", I'd love to use FireFox or WebKit. Anybody tried this? UPDATE: Please bear in mind that although it is possible to embed gecko using the mentioned controls, it is still impossible to print while using gecko.     Hiya All, I have a rather strange bug which i can't make sense of that is apearing in webkit based browsers (chrome and safari). When this page http://bluprintliving.mammalworld.com/turnmill-street loads for the first time the content seems to jump out of the container but only at the end of the render. on refresh it stays in and behaves. Generally the page in cache and out of cache looks different. Anyone have any ideas or clues they can shed on this issue? Much appreciated.   • Should we deploy a Webkit browser for our intranet applications?

    At my place of employment, we are increasingly finding it difficult to develop for IE, which was historically the easiest browser to target, from an intranet-app point of view. It was already deployed. It already understood NTLM authentication, thus well integrated with our domain-level security. It had neat, albeit non-standard features such as XMLDOM and XmlHTTP. Now, we are increasingly irritated by issues presented by IE: There are several versions: IE 7, 8, and soon 9 beta, which all have slightly different issues related to performance, functionality (especially re:security and zones), and aesthetics. IE 7 and 8 are slower than Webkit-based browsers. Period. There are technology limitations such as missing canvas element, CSS bugs, etc. that make it hard to use 3rd party packages or even consistently write code across IE versions. Users are increasingly using Firefox or Chrome, even for intranet use. Does anyone have experience with making a transition? Any advice would be welcome.

  • Webkit browsers rendering CSS different than Mozilla Firefox...Why??

    I'm styling a form that was already marked up (made some markup changes), and I normally work in Firefox to style so I can use firebug and the web developer toolbar. On this project, I noticed that my styles are displaying quite differently for one particular area (several elements) in webkit based browsers Chrome and Safari, than in Firefox (we won't even get into Internet Explorer, although it is siding with the Firefox display). I can't figure out though why the styles are displaying so differently. Normally there is some rule that I'm neglecting that Firefox just takes for granted, and the others need it specified. But here I'm not getting why it's displaying this way. In particular I'm referring to the bottom area of the form where users can enter their contact info, then submit the form. I'll attach screen shots for reference as to the discrepancy. Here's the URL so feel free to check it out on your own.
