    Hello everyone, I'm doing a RSS reader for a University Project. The feed urls have to be added by hand tipically with the copy/paste method, and I don't like this option because is poor for the users. My question is: can I do like in webpage http://feeds2.feedburner.com/microsiervos a list of web applications (Google Reader, Netvibes, etc.). There is a way to do so? I may have to create a firefox addon? I'm quite lost, I think...   • Lucene.Net - How to treat a space-seperated phrase as a single token?

    I've implemented a search facility using Lucene.Net. The index includes UK academic qualifications, including "A Level". I'd like the users to be able to search using the phrase "A Level", but using the Standrad Analyser the "A" is stripped out as a stop-word and therefore only "Level" is indexed/searched. What's my best option to work around this? I'm guessing I need to somehow tokenise "A Level" to "A-Level" or similar by creating a custom analyser. Is this the best approach? Note that I want don't want the whole search to be a phrase query. i.e. in my search box I want the user to be able to enter <"A Level" AND English Maths Physics and this would return any with "A Level" and either of English MAths or Physics.   • Are string resource ID values guaranteed to be consistent over different projects?

    I have some messages being passed back from my server through php. The problem is that the messages are in English and if the user is using another language they will still get the message in English. So I had an idea that maybe instead of passing back the message I would instead pass the String resource Id from the android app, that way the app will get the correct string id for their language. I will use this in a number of apps so I just want to know if the string id is guaranteed to be the same across different android projects?

  • How do you deal with the more mundane parts of programming tasks?

    My experience as a developer is that many projects or tickets are a mix of a short and focused very interesting task (e.g., designing some API or a platform to solve something) and a lot of repetitive and mundane tasks that cannot be automated (such as certain refactorings to use the API or platform, implementation of certain tests, some GUI handling, etc). I believe that this is the nature of our profession, unless we are high-level architects or managements and can delegate this work. The only item in my personal arsenal when dealing with these tasks is to devote some of my attention to radio or audiobooks (preferably not in English as I find it hard to concentrate on two "streams" of English at the same time). I maintain sufficient attention to carry the task and don't lose concentration as fast. I'm wondering how others cope with these and maintain concentration.

  • Django 1.2: Dates in admin forms don't work with Locales (I10N=True)

    I have an application in Django 1.2. Language is selectable (I18N and Locale = True) When I select the english lang. in the site, the admin works OK. But when I change to any other language this is what happens with date inputs (spanish example): Correctly, the input accepts the spanish format %d/%m/%Y (Even selecting from the calendar, the date inserts as expected). But when I save the form and load it again, the date shows in the english form: %Y-%m-%d The real problem is that when I load the form to change any other text field and try to save it I get an error telling me to enter a valid date, so I have to write all dates again or change the language in the site to use the admin. I haven't specified anything for DATE_INPUT_FORMATS in settings nor have I overridden forms or models. Surely I am missing something but I can't find it. Can anybody give me a hint?

  • Delphi: How to localize description for a menu shortcut?

    Is there a way to get a localized description of a shortcut like Ctrl+Z so that I get "Ctrl+Z" if the app runs on an English system and "Strg+Z" on a German system? The VCL function ShortCutToText isn't internationalized. The API function GetKeyNameText is a bit better but still not perfect: If one switches the regional settings of a German XP to English (US), it still produces German texts. Besides the results are in CAPITALS which is ugly. Clarification: I know how I can replace ShortCutToText or the Smkc* resource strings with customized versions. But to use that I need the translated strings. And I would like to get these from the OS (or similar). Update: It looks like Microsoft expects developers to do the translation on their own - see 2. in Associating a Menu Item with an Accelerator Key.

  • Taxonomy terms are not translated in an exposed filters block

    Hi, in my view's exposed filters block the taxonomy terms are showed only in the original language version (in English). Vocabulary is set to Localize terms. The terms are translated via Translation Table. All the other content (Views, nodes, translated strings etc.) is showed correctly (in German). I'd expect them to appear in current language, however. Here for instance, I'd expect to have German Sommer 10 instead of English Summer 10. Do You have any idea how to solve it? I use Drupal 6 and Views 2.10

After long time discuss, we decide for python as pl for our app, because we love and know python (better, than english, really). but we don't know, what GUI toolkit preffered for our aims. We need fast (for development and running) app, which users are admins, mainteners and account managers. There is two GUI toolkit for python, which we know: wxPython and pyQT. Anybody have arguments pro et contra candidat? And maybe peoples know commercial applications, running in this products (only python version of toolkits)? Links are desirable. I am programming a program to search the name from the list and I need to find them if the keyword is not in front of the names (that's what I mean non-prefix) e.g. if I my list is the music instruments and I type "guit" to the search textbox.     I am trying to open a file in "w" mode with "open()" function in python. The filename is : ?????.jpg. The open function fails with this filename but succeeds with normal files. How can I open a file with names which are not in English in python?   • is there a limit of merge tables with Mysql ?

    I'm working on a database with mysql 5.0 for an open source project it's used to stored sentences in specific languages and their translations in other languages I used to have a big table "sentences" and "sentences_translations" (use to join sentences to sentences) table but has we have now near one million entries, this begin to be a bit slow, moreover, most of request are made using a "where lang =" so I've decided to create a table by language sentences_LANGUAGECODE and sentences_translation_LANGSOURCE_LANGTARGET and to create merge table like this sentences_ENG_OTHERS which merge sentences_ENG_ARA sentences_ENG_DEU etc... when we want to have the translations in all languages of an english sentence sentences_OTHERS_ENG when we want to have only the english translations of some sentences I've created a script to create all these tables (they're around 31 languages so more than 60 merge table), I've tested, that works really great a request which use to take 160ms now take only 30 :) but I discover that all my merge table after the 15th use to have "NULL" as type of storage engine instead of MRG_MYISAM, and if delete one, then I can create an others, using FLUSH table between each creation also allow me to create more merge tables so is this a limitation from mysql ? can we override it ? thanks for your answers

    im processing a large file with sentences, i only care about the lines that have english or japanese, so while im reading the file, if i find english or japanese sentence, i want to just save it in an array and after finished reading, open another file for writting and output all the sentences in the array. this would result in me setting about 160,000 variables. all strings, some short some long. just wondering if its a bad idea to for memeory to set so many values? example line from the file: "1978033 jpn ?????????????????????"

  • ImgBurn fails to burn data CD-R disk due to "Layouts do not match" error

    I have a reoccurring problem with the program ImgBurn. Whenever I try and burn anything to a CD-R using ImgBurn it burns just fine, except for when I go and verify the disk. It tells me that the "Layouts do not match". Windows 7 shows the disk as completely blank. Although, I see on the bottom of the disk it has been written to. I can burn ISO files to DVD-R's just fine. This only seems to happen with CD-R's. The CD-R's I'm using are Memorex Cool Colors 52x CD-R's. I have looked on Google, and it seems like I'm not the only one this happens to. Unfortunately, no one is able to provide an explanation. I have included the log file from the last CD I just burnt.
