  I'm trying to update my Silverlight 4 UI approx every 1/2 second with new data. I've hooked into a WCF service using net.tcp binding and issuing callbacks from the server. To make sure I get the data from the service as quickly as possible I've started up my proxy on a backround worker inside of my Silverlight App. My question is, how do I get the results from the callback and update the ObservableCollection that is bound to a datagird? I've tried a number of different ways and keep getting the dreaded cross-thread error.

  I am getting this error in my sys.transmission_queue table whenever I attempt to send a SQL Service Broker message between two different SQL Server servers. (i.e. the databases are on two different physical machines) Dialog security is unavailable for this conversation because there is no security certificate bound to the database principal (Id: 5). Either create a certificate for the principal, or specify ENCRYPTION = OFF when beginning the conversation When this error refers to "database principal" what is it referring to? (the "master" database? dbo user?) I've used the CREATE CERTIFICATE command, backed up the certificate and created a same named certificate on the other server with the backup .cer file from the first server, but I keep getting this message. Any help would be appreciated in getting me pointed in the right direction. I must be missing something obvious. FYI, in my development environment, both the initiating and target databases were on the same physical server, and same SQL instance, and everything was working fine.

  In a application of mine that is developed in C# I have the following code: byte[] resb = new byte[Buffer.ByteLength(blockAr) + Buffer.ByteLength(previous)]; Array.Copy(blockAr, 0, resb,0, blockAr.Length); Array.Copy(previous, 0, resb, blockAr.Length, previous.Length); It's a very simple code to concatenate two byte arrays. The problem is that in some particular situation that I don't know I have that exception: ArgumentOutOfRangeException: sourceIndex is less than the lower bound of the first dimension of sourceArray. I cannot see any of strange in my code and I am not able to reproduce the exception. Could anyone help me to identify the problem? thanks

  Hi, I have a Rest-Service exposed through spring-mvc. I have a particular method which is correctly mapped and called through a http-call. My spring application contains the hibernatetransactionmanager and transactions are configured through @Transactional-annotations. I annotated the method with @Transactional. @Transactional(readOnly = true) @Override @RequestMapping(value = "/start", method = RequestMethod.GET) @ResponseBody public List start(....) Whenever I call the http-method I get org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException from my org.springframework.http.converter.json.MappingJacksonHttpMessageConverter which is bound in my application context. Is the @Transactional annotation valid for the MessageConverter as well?

• Why does C++ linking use virtually no CPU?

  On a native C++ project, linking right now can take a minute or two, yet during this time CPU drops from 100% during compilation to virtually zero. Does this mean linking is primarily a disk activity? If so, is this the main area an SSD would make big changes? But, why aren't all my OBJ files (or as many as possible) kept in RAM after compilation to avoid this? With 4Gb of RAM I should be able to save a lot of disk access and make it CPU-bound again, no?

• Best way to store chat messages and files

  I would like to know what do you think about storing chat messages in a database? I need to be able to bind other stuff to them (like files, or contacts) and using a database is the best way I see for now. The same question comes for files, because they can be bound to chat messages, I have to store them in the database too.. With thousands of messages and files I wonder about performance drops and database size. What do you think considering I'm using PHP with MySQL/Doctrine?

• MS Access "#Name?" in unbound field on SOME machines

  I have a datasheet form bound to table. I added 2 unbound fields and set their Control Source properties to user defined VBA functions: 1. ConcatRelated (http://allenbrowne.com/func-concat.html) 2. Custom function that returns a string: Public Function GetLowestSatatus(LookupField As String, JSAID As Integer) As String On Error Resume Next GetLowestSatatus = DLookup(LookupField, "JsaStatuses", "ID=" & DMin("StatusID", "Tasks", "JSAID =" & JSAID)) End Function It works fine on my and some other machines but there are machines I got "#Name?" in these 2 unbound fields. All machines configured identically. Any ideas? Thank you!

  Hi, our emails are being flagged as junk. I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk. • Using condionals in Linq Programatically

  I was just reading a recent question on using conditionals in Linq and it reminded me of an issue I have not been able to resolve. When building Linq to SQL queries programatically how can this be done when the number of conditionals is not known until runtime? For instance in the code below the first clause creates an IQueryable that, if executed, would select all the tasks (called issues) in the database, the 2nd clause will refine that to just issues assigned to one department if one has been selected in a combobox (Which has it's selected item bound to the departmentToShow property). How could I do this using the selectedItems collection instead? • Just when I thought my site was working right, it screws up in IE7

  I thought I'd done quite well, my site passed XHTML1.0 strict validation and worked flawlessly in IE6 as well as looking fine in IE8 & Chrome. I glibly thought that it it worked in IE6 & 8, IE7 was bound to be OK. But on checking I see one of my has a scrollbar in IE7, the seems about 200% as wide as it should be... the content is fine but you can scroll the whole . 2 separate pages have this issue, a 3rd does not, even though all pages use the same layout template - the main difference on the 2 that break is a floated div. Are there known issues specifically in this area with IE7? Or do I have to embarrass myself by posting a link to the site?

  Above is how my report looks, the part in yellow in hidden, and is only shown when the user clicks the + icon on the [name]. the result is basically the percentage difference from the Past [X] - [TERM] i.e there is a dropdown with, [weeks, months, days, hours] and a textbox of qty. so choosing qty = 4 and term = weeks will delivery a result set spread over 4 weeks based on the parent result sets date range and name ID I wish to populate here the number of rows, dependant on the value set by the user and the data will be from a dataset. Is it possible to dynamically add more sub rows ( like on row data bound ) if my first row is ID 123 [name], is it possible to send this value [123] to a dataset in order that all subrows are only relevant to the name with ID of 123? this is my first bash at SSRS so please no half cut answers, that just lead to more questions about the answer given :-) if this makes sense.   Not sure why my code is defaulting to this elif. But it's never getting to the else statement. Even going as far as throwing index out of bound errors in the last elif. Please disregard my non use of regex. It wasn't allowed for this homework assignment. The problem is the last elif before the else statement. • jQuery UI Draggable 'stop' event called too many times?

  I have a feeling I'm either misunderstanding the 'stop' event or not doing it right, but it seems to be called several times while the element is bound to is being dragged. makeAllDragable = function () { $(".test-table").draggable({ start: function (event, ui) { $(this).click(); }, stop: function (event, ui) { foo() } }).click(function () { selectTable($(this)); }); } foo = function () { alert("test"); } In this example foo is called about 30 times, shouldn't is just be when I release the draggable? The jQuery docs don't actually say one where or another though.

  I have a databound Listbox bound to a generic list as follows (Provider is a very simple class that just includes a single property (Name). ProviderList = new List<Provider>(); //Populate list Providers.ItemsSource = ProviderList; I can save the selected item with no problem but I can't manage to set the selected item from code afterwards. I am trying to do so as follows: int x = Providers.Items.IndexOf((Provider)_Settings["provider"]); However IndexOf() is always returning -1. If I inspect both Providers.Items[1] and _Setting["provider"] at runtime using the immediate window they both return {StoreRetrieveData.Provider} Name: "Greenflag" Am I doing something wrong (well clearly I am)?

• JSF Rendering Issue (Page getting cached)

  I am facing a strange issue with JSF. I have developed one controller and bind it to request scope. I need to access one jsf page like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=A and on the same IE session I want to issue another request like http://localhost:8080/selectRule.jsf?type=B as we can see, only the type is changing here. This is why I have a ruleController bound to request scope, so that every request, creates the controller and pulls out the data depending upon type. I have a private HtmlSelectOneMenu choices item in the page. What I see is, somehow only once in the session the getChoices() is getting called. This is what I see For each url, one new ruleController object is getting created. Only first time getChoices() are called. In the subsequent time, if I change the URL in the web browser, the getChoices() method are not getting called though a new controller is getting created. Note: I am using JSF 1.1

  Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to make a generic webservice method in java like this: @WebMethod public <T extends Foo> void testGeneric(T data){ However when I try to consume this with a Java client I get an error stating: [ERROR] Schema descriptor {http://####/}testGeneric in message part "parameters" is not defined and could not be bound to Java. I know it is possible to make a method that takes a parameter such as List and this generates correctly using JAX-WS. • How can I bind dynamic data to DataGridTemplateColun in code?

  I'm using DataGrid from CodePlex. I have objects (ICustomTypeDescriptor) that have properties 'name' 'description' 'c' 'd' and so on (the names are dynamic, and so is the value) and they have information behind them. I have templates for different types. And if I have to list the properties of a single element I can just bind to the values in xaml and use datatemplateselector (in datagridtemplatecolumn) which will pick the correct template. However, when I'm listing several of the elements, how can I use the selectors and the templates? How do I get the correct property bound to the template (two-way)?   I've created a dataset that contains 2 tables: Users (userID, UserName, other user details) Emails (Id, UserId, UserEmail) I populate the dataset using 2 DataAdapters (one for each table) I have a listbox, a few textboxes and a grid. listbox gets all the users, the few textboxs displays the user details when picked in the list box (this is easy b/c they are both bound to the same table). the grid should display the selected user's email addresses. How do I do it using binding ? is it possible or should I catch the selection change event and filter the grid "manually" (currently the grid displays all the emails in the tables).

  I'm using jQuery to wire up some mouseover effects on elements that are inside an UpdatePanel. The events are bound in $(document).ready . For example: $(function() { $('div._Foo').bind("mouseover", function(e) { // Do something exciting }); }); Of course, this works fine the first time the page is loaded, but when the UpdatePanel does a partial page update, it's not run and the mouseover effects don't work any more inside the UpdatePanel. What's the recommended approach for wiring stuff up in jQuery not only on the first page load, but every time an UpdatePanel fires a partial page update? Should I be using the ASP.NET ajax lifecycle instead of $(document).ready?

My CodeBlocks (on windows) with MinGW [gcc 4.4] gives compile time error. that "error: array bound is not an integer constant. Then how can be such a solution be accepted by CodeChef's judge.   I have a DropDownlist in the GridView, which should be visible only when edit is clicked. I have bound the DropDownList from code behind. When I click on Edit, the label value of that cell should automatically get selected in the DropDownList.
