• Unable to connect to the Report Server

  Win/7 Professional SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Reporting Services Configuration Manager When I launch it, shows correct Server Name, but report server instance is blank. When I press FIND I get: "Unable to connect to the Report Server " This is my development workstation, so no IIS installed. Seems to work fine on XP. SSMS works fine - no issues. I tried uninstalling SQL Server completely, rebooting, reinstalling a fresh download. Same result. I've googled every article I can find - nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction in case you've come across this yourself? Thanks.

• Can't connect to Windows Server 2008 shared folders via VPN connection

  I set up an VPN connection on my 2008 server using RRAS. The VPN seems to work fine. I can connect from outside the network. I am also able to establish a remote access connection via the VPN-IP. However, I can't access my shared folders. After connecting to the VPN I can ping the server, but it is not shown in my networks. using \ip or \server-name doesn't work either, cannot be found. I checked ipconfig and this is what I found regarding the VPN: DNS-Suffix: Description: test Physical Adress: DHCP activated: No Auto-Config: Yes IPv4-Adress: 192.168.2.114 Sub: 255.255.255.255 Standard-gateway: DNS-Server: 192.168.0.1 NetBIOS: activated To clarify my IP-situation: server is connected to router with 192.168.0.x, the test-client is in an external network connected to a router with 192.168.1.x, server-client connection is using static ips with 192.168.2.x Can anyone help me with this one? The VPN should be ok since I am able to establish remote access.

• Windows 7 can't connect to via ethernet to Airpot Extreme

  I have an Airport Extreme, and everything works beautifully on the Mac, but my Windows 7 computer, which is connected via a regular ethernet cable, can't see any network. The Windows computer says there's no cable connected. Any ideas? Is there some kind of setting you have to enable with the Airport utility? I looked everywhere but can't find anything. Or do I need to install that Airport utility something on the PC just to connect to the router? (Haven't tried because the PC has no CD drive)

So I am doing: CREATE USER 'bob'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'password123'; CREATE USER 'bob'@'10.1.1.1 IDENTIFIED BY 'password123'; GRANT SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE on MyDatabse.* to 'bob'@'localhost', 'bob'@'10.1.1.1; This works fine, but is there any more elegant way to create a user account that is linked to multiple IPs or does it need to be done this way? My main worry is that in the future permissions will be updated form 'bob' account and not the other.

  I got two Comcast routers with two different subnets on each. Every subnet contains 5 static IPs. Two questions: Are there any problems if both routers and machines from both subnets are connected into one switch? Security issues doesn't matter there. I need to know if there are some performance or other problems. Is it possible to make machines from different subnets to see each other if they all are connected into one switch? Some static routing, add ARP records or somethig else ... I just want to avoid configuring second ethernet adaptors, third router or something. And I need to connect these subnets vai high-speed local network.

  So I've got a Ruby on Rails application that I am trying to run (in development) on Snow Leopard. I've got it working on my Ubuntu computer, but now I need to get my Snow Leopard environment set up. Originally, I installed the MySQL 2.8.1 Ruby Gem and was running into this issue: uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes But thanks to this tutorial I was able to resolve it by running this command and installing a previous version of the Gem: export ARCHFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" ;sudo gem install --no-rdoc --no-ri -v=2.7 mysql -- --with-mysql-dir=/usr/local/mysql --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config Now that I've resolved that issue, I'm running into a different error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' This happens when I try to run rake db:migrate as well as when the server is running. How can I resolve this issue?

  I am trying to connect to a SVN server in order to import my project into it with svn+ssh authentication method. I am using the NetBeans IDE (6.8) with subversion plugin installed on Windows XP SP2. I have plink installed with its path set in the Windows PATH env variable. When I use the similar looking repository URL (XXXX and YYYY replaced with sensible things) svn+ssh://XXXX@YYYY/home/dce/svn/trunk along with this external tunnel command plink -l <myUserName> -i C:\\privateKey.ppk I keep getting this error: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Network connection closed unexpectedly I searched about it on the Internet and tried many things but didn't work out. Please help if anybody has some idea what may be going wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

  Hello, I was left with the easy task of installing moodle. I am VPNing to 2 servers, one for the database and the other apache/php server 1 must connect over LAN to the mySQL db on server 2 I added a user with following priveleges : +---------------+------------+ | host | user | +---------------+------------+ | % | mir | | 10.10.40.15 | mir | | x.x.x.x | mir | | localhost | mir | Disabled firewall temporary made sure that my username/password combinations are correct, flushed priveleges, restarted mysqld i wnt to /etc/my.cnf .. if i try to add the port=3306 bind-address=10.10.40.15 or anything that is different from 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1 - mysql wouldn't restart i read and tried many forums and pages and asked friends for tips but nothing works So my question to you : are there any networking extensions that need to be installed for mysql, how do i know nothing is missing from the installation any troubleshooting tips, any idea how to fix this, any step by step check list, am i missing something simple/stupid, please anything that comes to mind, let me know Appreciate your feedback on this friday night stuck at work :P

I have read various forums and a lot of people are stating that it's perfectly ok, but some are scaring me that by connecting it so, it fried their hard disk.   I have the following hardware: 2 Desktop PCs, running Windows XP and Ubuntu Macbook Pro a LCD monitor, a wired keyboard, and a wired mouse Currently, I'm using an oldish IOGear KVM switch to connect the two PCs to the input/output (and it works very well). I'd like a setup that includes the laptop as well, ideally maintaining as much portability as possible (meaning I'd like to be able to sit down, easily plug in my laptop, work on all computers, then easily pick up and leave with the laptop - is docking station the right word here?).   I installed ZWAMP 1.0.7 (on Windows 7), but I'm having a weird problem. I can't connect to my MySQL server from any PHP script. If I try to use MySQL command line everything works fine but PHPMyAdmin retruns error #2002. I'm not sure whether it's important or not but MySQL server is not able to create socket file. I don't know what's the problem but I think everything is configured in my.cnf properly. Do you have any ideas?

  We just moved Exchange server from our company to Local data center. Everything is working except mobile access. There is no problem with receiving and sending email from outlook of my laptop, but I can’t connect to exchange server from my smart phone to receive email. While I am setting up exchange account for my phone(Google) , it recognizes when I put wrong password. But it says “Unable to open connection to server” with right password and ID. Is there any option for IP address for this service when I move my server to different location? Please, help me out for any clue.

  I have a test machine. Server 2008 with Hyper V MSSQL 2008 Enterprise Lets call it MACHINE A on the VM it is as well Server 2008 with another MSSQL 2008 Ent Call it VM B I setup a DB on MACHINE A then backed it up and restored following the prepare database for mirroring instructions on MSDN onto VM B. I used to be able to connect to the VM B Instance from the main test server (MACHINE A) but now I cannot for some reason. It cannot seem to find the instance at all even when I browse network databases. I can ping the VM from any computer on the network and access its shares so I know it is discoverable. Just the end of a long day maybe I am missing something here.

• Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

  Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this.   In summary: Client connects for the first time and requests cert; on the Master, puppetca -s client is executed; Client gets the cert and completes the run successfully. Fine. But now: on the Master, puppetca -c client is executed and client's cert is not in the cert list anymore; Client connects again and can perform the run as usual; Restarting puppetmasterd doesn't solve the issue.   I'm trying to set up a development box using Virtualbox / Vagrant / Puppet with the intention of eventually provisioning all my machines up to production. However this is stopping me going forward at the moment. I've installed ubuntu lucid over windows 7. When trying to connect to xdebug by starting a debugging session in eclipse, it hangs at 57% (common in eclipse when it cannot communicate with xdebug). Here is my xdebug.ini and the settings here are appearing in phpinfo(). xdebug.remote_enable=On xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_host=192.168.56.1 xdebug.remote_port=9000 I'm now wondering if it's an issue with port forwarding? If eclipse is looking on port 9000, will it find port 9000 on a virtual machine? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• Not able to connect to perforce server outside of localhost

  My setup is a Qwest PK5000 router with a Linksys router running Tomato. I have DMZ pointed towards my router. (The server is on the tomato router). I tried my applications that open up sockets and Utorrent (port 6883) and I ended having to do advanced port forwarding and forward specific ports in addition to having DMZ on my router. The problem is that I cannot connect to perforce when on another machine on the LAN or off. Any ideas? :) Thanks!

  We are using an older version of BartPE and are not able to connect to shared folders on our subnet. It says the network name could not be found. Connecting to the shared folder on the machine that is hosting it works fine. Any ideas on what might cause this? Thanks! Edit1: Got wireshark running and monitored traffic from the offending machine and tried to map. ZERO packets from the other machine were seen. :(

  Is there an easy way to have my work laptop connect to a home workgroup for file sharing with my other PCs, but then easily switch back to connecting to my work domain when I'm at work? I have the following setup: Windows 7 Home Premium Server/HTPC 2 Windows XP laptops 1 Vista laptop (Work) The work laptop connects to a work domain, the remaining computers are on a home workgroup for sharing files/printer. Also is it possible to share files over my LAN while I'm connected to the work domain, but at home? I've tried Live Mesh, but my 2 home laptops are very slow and don't work well with it. I also use Dropbox, but I'd like to be able to share larger files. I may be missing a simple solution here...

• trying to connect to non-standard port over esxi guest network

  I've got an exsi 5.5 box that has a redhat 6.5 guest and a win7 guest. The guest nics are connected on a vsphere standard switch. There is no connection from the vswitch to an outside physical nic. I can ping between the two boxes, each way. I can successfully psping redhat:22 from the win7 box. I can successfully tcping win7:139 from the redhat box. All firewalls are down on both boxes. I cannot connect from the win7 box to redhat:8003, either via psping redhat:8003, nor telnet redhat 8003, nor by the application client itself. sudo netstat -patn | grep 8003 on the redhat box shows that it's listening on 0.0.0.0. Any thoughts? suggestions?

• Connect my mac to my external local asp server

  I have pc server running asp that we use locally for our work that we have several PC's connected to it, and all works ok with this and we can run the sites locally ok. But I would also like to connect our mac to this server so we can also then use Dreamweaver on. I can access the server via the mac and Dreamweaver but when I set up a site(s) via DW using the same settings as we do on a PC and then run locally the site fails. Is there a way I can set up the mac to then be able to run the sites from DW using this local server? iMac IO Lion Dreamweaver Our server is windows 2003 sever.
