  • C#- Executing Exe without using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start

    Hi all, I have a program that crashes when I execute it with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start in C#, but works fine if I execute a shortcut or batch file that runs the exe. Are there any alternative means of executing programs in C#, or any reasons why Process.Start might not work compared to the shortcut or batch file? I'd rather not have to generate a batch or shortcut file to run the application. Thanks

    I am trying to install postgrepsql to cygwin on a windows 7 machine and want it to work with django. After built and installed postgrepsql in cygwin, I built and installed psycopg2 in cygwin as well and got no error, but when use it in python with cygwin, I got the "no such process" error: import psycopg2 Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/psycopg2/init.py", line 60, in from _psycopg import BINARY, NUMBER, STRING, DATETIME, ROWID ImportError: No such process any clues? I.e. we do not want to duplicate variables so each process will be able to read them. Additionally, DB solution is no good, as we do not want to be dependent on DB for something like configuration. Sample process: Develop it: Patch bugs, add features, etc. Feature Freeze (do not fix, add anything unless it's absolutely required) Test it If everything is OK release it, if it's not fix it, test it, release it I think the most crucial question is what's your approach to "feature freeze test release" cycle? Or do you test it more frequently that you don't need such a cycle and your software is always ready for public release?

    I am using VS2008 C# and testing on my local XP Pro PC with local IIS, I have wrote a web service to call a third party software .exe file to use svn checkout commands to insert data into a folder, which use System.Diagnostics.Process.Start . The same codes did work when I use VS2008 build-in ASP.NET Development Server(http://localhost:2999/MyServices/MyServices.asmx). but when I use IIS normal URL(http://developer/MyServices/MyServices.asmx) to run Process.Start on the web service, it just haunlted and not doing anything.plz send one sample program.

  • C# System.Diagnostics.Process redirecting Standard Out for large amounts of data

    I running an exe from a .NET app and trying to redirect standard out to a streamreader. The problem is that when I do myprocess.exe out.txt out.txt is close to 14mb. When I do the command line version it is very fast but when I run the process from my csharp app it is excruciatingly slow because I believe the default streamreader flushes every 4096 bytes. Is there a way to change the default stream reader for the Process object?

I know you could just set up a Postscript printer and print directly to that, but some of these libraries appear to create the PDF on the fly to allow previews etc. has anyone had any experience in this, or can provide any guidance?

    We're using silverlight on our SharePoint site. When someone navigates to the page containing the silverlight object, they are prompted for credentials. Other pages work fine. I'm wondering if the client is trying to retrive the xap file (which is in a location the process hosting the web application has access to, but not the user). Is the xap file retrievd by the IIS process or the client?

    I often use VS 2008 to debug a .NET C# component of an application. Sometimes, I want to quit debugging and continue running the application. Stop Debugging kills the process I was debugging. How can I achieve my aim? This is not a web app, it's a local process that runs managed and unmanaged code. I don't see any "Detach" or "Detach All" option in the Debug menu (is it enabled in some option?).
