  We are glad to announce a new training format: Ramp-Up Days to support some of the most preferred specializtion topics (e. g.: Oracle DB11g Implementation Specialist and Oracle DB 11g RAC Implementation Specialists) It is a one day trainer-led course on one Oracle Specialization topic. The course takes place at an Oracle Partner with a Pearson Vue Testcenter nearby. • Oracle Usability Advisory Board, Europe

  Earlier this month, I attended the first Oracle Usability Advisory Board meeting in Europe (held in Oracle's big campus in Thames Valley Park, Reading, in the UK). My main interest here of of course was to listen to customer's experiences and requirements in the area of user experience, focusing in on user assistance natch, but also, given my background in the translation and internationalization world, to watch out for issues in those areas that impact on the UX. I met some great people there and took away some powerful UX thoughts about where might go with the area of language in the UI, localizations, and other cultural issues. One area of special interest to me is language as part of the user experience. By language I mean terminology and style of wordings you see in interfaces and help. Are they reflective of how people really work and are used to. What is its relationship to competitiveness and productivity. An area rich in research potential for UX. • Fujitsu und Oracle rücken enger zusammen

  Gerade wurde bekannt, dass sich Oracle und Fujitsu auf eine noch intensivere Zusammenarbeit geeinigt haben.Spannend für die Partner dürfte vor allem sein, dass Fujitsu nun laut Vertrag mit dem Oracle PartnerNetwork auch als Systemintegrator und Lösungsanbieter für das gesamte Produktportfolio aktiv wird.Ansonsten wird, wie zu erwarten, die Weiterentwicklung der SPARC Enterprise "M-Series"- Server voran getrieben. Das neue Gehäuse mit den Logos beider Firmen wurde ja bereits im Dezember präsentiert. Nun schwebt den Partnern eine Leistungssteigerung um das 15-fache innerhalb der nächsten fünf Jahre vor.Gemeinsame Tests sollen zudem das Zusammenspiel von Soft- und Hardware beider Firmen optimieren, vor allem in geschäftskritischen Umgebungen.Das klingt nach frischem Wind in der über 20-jährigen Partnerschaft. • CRM Goes to School, Supports Enrollment Growth

  At Post University in Waterbury, CT, the focus is on the student. Generally, the first interaction from a potential student is a lead, which can come from a variety of sources. Any delay in following up with the interested student (the lead) affects the conversion success rate, i.e., the likelihood of enrollment. By implementing Oracle CRM On Demand, Post University automated the admissions process so the admissions counselors are in direct contact with the students and eliminated many manual steps.   Hi, I would like to create a share link to my website using javascript: script src="[url-to-my-script]" Basically the main idea behind this is to render HTML block with an image and link to the website. By using JavaScript approach I can control the look and feel of that link + potentially I could change the link html in the future without touching partner websites. The only potential problem I see with this approach is SEO. I'm not sure if google will be able to index that link to my website, since it's generated by javascript.

• Should I concentrate on writing code for money or my studies while in college?

  I am college student of Software Engineering. My worries are that while I am concentrating on my studies, my peers are getting down with the code (e.g. HTML, ASP, PHP, etc) to earn money. Should I be worried that I am not doing coding like them? I was asked to be Microsoft Student Partner but I refused because the person what was doing before me told it was just arranging events. Nothing as such like getting with Microsoft and coding. Should I be writing code and earning money as I still am in 4th semester? I only have C++ as learning language in college. Will my job count on these projects that I do, or should I concentrate on studies for now to get maximum benefit?

• It's hard to judge your own product. Is there a name for this issue?

  I was just talking to my partner about how hard it is to personally judge how good your product is after a while because you use it so often. You literally spend hours on your computer doing nothing but work on this Consumer Facing application, and you start to feel a little fatigue of using it over and over and over, at least a hundred times a day. You get scared this fatigue may mean the product you are building may have the same effect on the users and might mean you are doing something wrong. Is there a name for this in product development? For the fact that as a designer+ programmer+everything else, your product might not suck as much as you think simply because you spend way too much time with it, or a variation of this?
