• Div on top of Div using z-index.

  I have the following divs in my HTML: <div class="main"> <div class="bgimage"></div> <div class="content">Text</div> which is directly inside my body. With the following CSS: .content{filter:alpha(opacity=50);-moz-opacity: 0.5;opacity: 0.5;} .content{position:relative;z-index:1;border:#000 thin solid;width:960px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;background-color:#000;} .bgimage{position:absolute;z-index:-1;width:1024px;height:768px;margin-left:auto;margin-right:auto;background-image:url(bg1.jpg);} Basically, I have a Div that with a display of a background image, and I will have another Div on top of this with transparency. This current code works, but my problem is when I am trying to take the content div down from the top. When I add margin-top:100px, for example, is also brings the image down. I thought it would not touch it if it is not on the same z-index? Why does adding a margin also force the bgimage div down? I have also tried making the div with class of content a position of absolute and a zindex, but then this won't centre. How should I solve this?

  Hi, I have a submission form on my website (index.php) and I have the data(user submissions) being stored into a MySQL database. Right now, I have the user submitting a post and then the page directs them to an update.php which shows what they inputed. However, I want all of the data in the database in MySQL to be shown on the index.php. It's a lot like a comment system. User submits a post... and sees their post above the other submitted posts all on the same page. I think I'm missing AJAX... ? • Overlapping 2 Flash objects and controlling z-index

  I have two Flash objects on a webpage (call them A and B), and they overlap so one partially obscures the other. I don't seem to have any control over the z-index, to force B in front of A. Whatever I try, A always 'wins' and stays on the top! I have read many people's posts about problem with getting HTML to show over the top of Flash...but nothing about when your two overlapping items are both Flash objects. I have tried various combinations of wmode=opaque/transparent/window I have tried CSS position:absolute/relative and z-index:0/999 I have tried placing the HTML sections in a different order The problem is the same in IE6 and Firefox 2.0 I do not want to use jQuery in this case In my particular situation B must have position:absolute and wmode=transparent, and sit above A. A needs relative positioning and transparency is not required. However, I have been testing without these restrictions, and I still have no control over the overlap. Are some SWFs (ours are adverts sent by clients) created in such a way as to override any code control of z-index? Thanks for any advice you can give.

• Creating an appropriate index for a frequently used query in SQL Server

  In my application I have two queries which will be quite frequently used. The Where clauses of these queries are the following: WHERE FieldA = @P1 AND (FieldB = @P2 OR FieldC = @P2) and WHERE FieldA = @P1 AND FieldB = @P2 P1 and P2 are parameters entered in the UI or coming from external datasources. FieldA is an int and highly on-unique, means: only two, three, four different values in a table with say 20000 rows FieldB is a varchar(20) and is "almost" unique, there will be only very few rows where FieldB might have the same value FieldC is a varchar(15) and also highly distinct, but not as much as FieldB FieldA and FieldB together are unique (but do not form my primary key, which is a simple auto-incrementing identity column with a clustered index) I'm wondering now what's the best way to define an index to speed up specifically these two queries. Shall I define one index with... FieldB (or better FieldC here?) FieldC (or better FieldB here?) FieldA ... or better two indices: FieldB FieldA and FieldC FieldA Or are there even other and better options? What's the best way and why? Thank you for suggestions in advance!

• trouble calculating offset index into 3D array

  Hello, I am writing a CUDA kernel to create a 3x3 covariance matrix for each location in the rows*cols main matrix. So that 3D matrix is rows*cols*9 in size, which i allocated in a single malloc accordingly. I need to access this in a single index value the 9 values of the 3x3 covariance matrix get their values set according to the appropriate row r and column c from some other 2D arrays. In other words - I need to calculate the appropriate index to access the 9 elements of the 3x3 covariance matrix, as well as the row and column offset of the 2D matrices that are inputs to the value, as well as the appropriate index for the storage array. i have tried to simplify it down to the following: //I am calling this kernel with 1D blocks who are 512 cols x 1row.   Possible Duplicate: How do I point a new domain to start on a page that's not index.html on separate hosting? I'm using a service called SquareSpace to host my site, and today I'm registering the domain for it. Basically, how do I make it so when somebody types www.tedxoxford.com it points at http://www.tedxoxford.com/landing (currently http://tedxoxford.squarespace.com/landing) instead of the default index? Is this possible? Squarespace is quite a restricted CMS and means that your logos etc all point to the index so I don't want people ending up on my landing/splash page every time they want the home page, only on the first time they type in the URL. A dirty hack would be to check the refferer and redirect anyone hitting the index to the landing page, but that's a lot of loading overhead I'd rather avoid...

• Removing existing filtered pages from Google's index: noindex / 301 / canonical to non-filtered page?

  I've decided to remove some of my site's pages from the Google index to focus more of the indexed pages on higher quality pages. The pages I'm going to remove are already in the index. These removed pages are filtered pages which will continue to exist, I just don't want them in the google index because they add little quality to the same page without any filter selected. I've added in webmaster tools specification of narrow for the parameters that set these filters, but it doesn't seem this changes anything in how he handles these pages. So I'm considering three options: Adding <meta name="robots" content="noindex" /> to the html header of these filtered pages 301 to the non-filtered page that contains the most similar information and will remain in the index Canonical tag. Which I'm not sure is exactly the mainstream use case, as these aren't really the same pages. Which should I use?

  Using Google Webmaster Tools I'm trying to update the Content Keywords of my site. I'm confused about the relationship between Submit to Index and Content Keywords Does Fetch as Google -- Submit to Index on a previously existing indexed page containing new content expidite updating the Content Keywords crawled by the real Google bot? Does Submit to Index only submit new URL's so that previously indexed URL's still point to the older cached version until Google crawls specifically for new content on its own? Does Submit to Index have anything to do with Content Keywords or crawling new content being a previously indexed page or never been indexed page?

  I want to implement a rewrite rule in my .htaccess file to show a specific url as a directory of my server. See the code below I written, RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ ?page=$1 [NC] This will rewrites urls like www.mysite.com/abc/ to www.mysite.com/index.php?page=abc. But if I request www.mysite.com/abc then it is throwing an 404 error. How can I write a rewrite rule which will match www.mysite.com/abc and www.mysite.com/abc/ both? • I've changed my URL schema. How do I tell Google to index the new schema and forget the old one?

  I had a site where the urls were constructed like this /index.php/Topic /index.php/AnotherTopic These were indexed in google, and search results returned that pointed to these. However, I've recently replatformed that site, and reconfigured it so the above urls would be: /index.php?title=Topic /index.php?title=AnotherTopic The original urls are returning 404s. The site is linking to the correct URL schema internally, but Google is retaining the original schema in its search results. I've updated and resubmitted the sitemap which only contains the new schema. Also, Google's webmasters tool is going slightly bananas at the fact there's now a spike in 404 errors in its crawl results. What would be the best approach to get Google to 'forget' about the old schema, and instead index the new schema? Should I try blocking /index.php/ in robots.txt? Should I be returning 301 codes instead of 404 for the original urls?

  I can't get my apache configuration to open my index.html I edited my /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and added the following at the bottom. <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /media//DATA/directory/to/my/index-file/ ServerName host-test.com </VirtualHost> Then I restarted my entire pc, but when I open localhost I get the: It works! This is the default web page for this server. The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet. Page and not the code written in my index.html? • Designing a user-defined list to be stored in a relational database - Should I include user index?

  By index, I mean, as the user creates the list, each item receives an integer index for its place in that particular list. Since there will be a table of ListItems, I'd prefer to avoid using the name "Index" for the field. Then I was thinking - should I even include the list index in the database? I figured I would because the list would be created in the same fashion every time, then. Or I could order the list for the user based on its actual primary key, since the list items are created in succession anyway... What should I do?

I would like to get the login form that we get for free in an MVC application on the left sidebar of my Home index page instead of the usual Account/Login page. I am facing some problems. First I need a product object to be displayed on my Home Index page as well. What I did is that I added a product object to the LogOnModel that they provide in the AccountModels class and I created a UserControl (partial view) copying the content of the LogOn.aspx view. Now my Home index.aspx as well as my partial view inherits the LogOnModel class. I can see the Login form on my Home Index page as well as my product object BUT the login Form is never empty. The last username and password always appear there. I know I must have forgotten something or have done something wrong or the way did it is completely wrong !! • split video (avi/h264) on keyframe

  Hallo. I have a big video file. ffmpeg, tcprobe and other tool say, it is an h264-stream in an AVI-container. Now i'd like to cut out small chunks form the video. Problem: The index of the video seam corrupted/destroyed. I kind of fixed this via mplayer -forceidx -saveidx <IndexFile> <BigVideoFile>. The Problem here is, that I'm now stuck with mplayer/mencoder which can use this index file via -loadidx <IndexFile>. I have tried correcting the index like described in man aviindex (mplayer -frames 0 -saveidx mpidx broken.avi ; aviindex -i mpidx -o tcindex ; avimerge -x tcindex -i broken.avi -o fixed.avi), but this didn't fix my video - meaning that most tools i've tested couldn't search in the video file. Problem: I sut out parts of the video via following command: mencoder -loadidx in.idx -ss 8578 -endpos 20 -oac faac -ovc x264 -sws 9 -lavfopts format=mp4 -x264encopts <LotsOfOpts> -of lavf -vf scale=800:-10,harddup in.avi -o out.mp4. Now here the problem is, that some videos are corrupted at the beginning. I think this is because the fact, that i do not necessarily cut at keyframe. Questions: What is the best way to fix the index of an avi "inline" so that every tool can again work as expected with it? How can i split at the keyframes? Is there an mencoder-option for this? Are Keyframes coming in a frequency? How to find out this frequency? (So with a bit of math it should be possible to calculate the next keyframe and cut there) Is ther perhaps some completely other way to split this movie? Doing it by hand is no option, i've to cut out 1000+ chunks ... Thanks a lot!

• Why does animate not work for the first few 'selections' of my next button?

  I'll just start right off the bat and say I'm fairly new to JQuery, so if you see some glaring issues with my code....let me know what I'm doing wrong! Either way, I've been working on a script to fade divs in and out using the z-index and animate. It "works" after about 2-3 clicks, but the first two clicks do not fade or animate as I was hoping....why is that? • Checkbox not checkable in dialog ui

  I am trying to solve a z-index problem with the jQuery UI Dialog, similar to question Can't select or deselect checkboxes inside jQuery UI Modal Dialog , knowing there is a bug report out there. So in trying to up the z-index as recommended, I added the following code: $('#interface').click(function(evform){ $('#interface').prop('z-index')=99999; }); where the chrome and firefox console.log states: Uncaught ReferenceError: Invalid left-hand side in assignment HOWEVER, despite the error, the checkbox now works (throwing the console error every time). If I remove the offending line, the checkbox becomes "unclickable". How can I properly code this? My HTML: <div id="dialog" title="Loading..."> <p id="interface">Loading...</p> </div> (by the way, I tried adding inline style to the <p>, and it didn't work: <p id="interface" style="z-index:99999">Loading...</p> And with AJAX, I replace the contents of '#interface' with valid checkbox html such as: <label for="right"> <input name="right" type="checkbox"> </label> and I have the usual jQuery/Dialog UI files included. One final note, I tried to get creative, since this wasn't working and manually switch the checkbox by: if ($(evform.target).prop('type')=="checkbox"){ $(evform.target).checked; } Thank you to anyone willing to help me figure this out!

• Annoying Application on Mac Creating Unwanted File

  Last year, I installed an application on my Mac called Pocketcam. A few days later, I have removed the app from my Mac by dragging and dropping it into the trash bin. Apparently by doing that, it didn't remove the application completely as there are still some files left on the computer that is creating a log file in my document folder. The file keeps coming back after deleting it numerous times. So my question is, "how do I find the file that is creating that file and remove it completely from my Mac?"
