  I have a Windows XP laptop and I've noticed that the system clock is always 5 minutes late. When I set the clock to the right time, by the next day it's...5 minutes late. What's going on here? Is the clock being synchronised with the clock of a server on the network somewhere? What can I do about this?

• Getting a list of packages installed on CentOS (by command line and on the web)

  When installing CentOS (6.2), it installs a whole bunch of packages, but the installation is often very fast, it's hard to note the names of the packages. I have a couple of questions: 1) I'm guessing I could wait for the entire installation to complete and then query for the list of installed packages on the system. How do I do that? 2) Is there a printed list somewhere on the web, so I don't have to install the OS first just to get the list?

  Previously I used Outlook 2003 and I was able to send a hyperlink with a space by typing < before entering the hyperlink and a > after typing the hyperlink and the whole thing would become a valid clickable link. Like so <\\network share with spaces\folder We upgraded to Outlook 2010 and currently this happens <\\network share with spaces\folder or if I do nothing \\network share with spaces\folder Is there a setting in one of these ribbons somewhere to control this?

  I have a lot of custom keyboard shortcuts and will be migration Macs. I tested Migration Assistant and it did not seem to get these. I read somewhere that they are stored in the individual application's plist files in the ~/Library/Application Support folder but even after copying a few of these folders over the shortcuts do not seem to follow. How can I get all of the keyboard shortcuts migrated to a new mac?

• Where does Chrome store its bookmarks in Ubuntu 11.10?

  I looked at all the other posts on this but can't find the directories mentioned (~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Bookmarks, it's a JSON file.). Being a 2 day Newbie to Ubuntu/Linux I would like to know if the location has changed in the latest version or if not how I locate the directory indicated. I have logged in as root and searched for the folder and can't find it although I imported my bookmarks from a html file so I know that they must be saved somewhere.

• Prevent one user from disconnecting an active remote desktop session

  I've got a server where a number of users are sharing user logins for a short period of time to prevent too many people from logging in at the same time. The users are connecting over remote desktop, but the problem is that when one user is busy doing something, another user logs in as the same user and disconnects the active session. Is there any way of preventing one user from logging in and disconnecting the same username who is already connected to somewhere else?

• Directly connected HP server and CX4 with fibre

  I have direcly connected (with fibre) a HP ProLiant BL460c G7 with a EMC CX4. I installed VMWare Esxi 5.0. The problem is that cx4 cannot connect to the blade. It seems that there is no connectivity problem, because the server can be connected to fibre switch with other equipment (EVA 4000) and also cx4 is already atteched to one same server. The problem seems to exist somewhere between the cx4 and esxi when they are direclty attached. Any ideas??

• Program for getting the cursor's x,y coordinates?

  Is there a program which lets you easily get the x,y coordinates for your cursor? Basically, I move my cursor to somewhere on my screen, it shows me the x,y coordinates and has an option to copy them to the clipboard or export them somehow. I can already do this if I take a screenshot and open it in MS Paint, then as I move the mouse cursor over the screenshot it shows the coordinates in the status bar, however I have to manually write them down, hence its not convenient.

• Windows TCP timeout

  Is there on windows any default timeout for tcp connection? So when no answere is received the connection would be closed. Why im asking is that on one machine the connection is closed afther 5 minutes.(Windows XP) Running the same client - server connection on other machine the connection is kept open forever like it should be.   Assume I'm working away from the office; its a hotel computer Windows 7, Office 2010 and fast - so the best possible conditions. Using Companyweb - Every time I open a document, I have to go through the logon process - seems odd to have to do that. Is this a 'by design' feature or is something wrong with my configuration? When I do open the documents, are they being stored somewhere locally and should I be looking to delete on this computer - or are they in a temporary file?

  Do web proxies really provide anonimity? I mean, without someone asking for logs in a web proxy server for who/when connected, is it impossible to know who was behind that ip? I'm asking this because I heard somewhere that some technologies (like "flash") bypass personal ip information for requests or something like that. • What is a good set and forget file version tracking / backup application for windows?

  When I make changes to files, I keep on finding myself "saving as" and adding the current date to the file. It slows me down, and it creates a bunch of files that clot my folder. I would prefer to be able to Right Click on a file from the File Explorer and select to save different versions of this file, so that each time I save it, it saves a copy somewhere, that I can access in the future if necessary. Is there any application that achieves this?
