  • Powershell replace lose line breaks

    Hi, I am a newbie in powershell. I have a simple powershell script that just replace text but I found that the regex replace turn my multiline data source into a single line text when the output is produced. I want the line breaks to be preserved. Here is the dumb down version of the script. $source=(Get-Content textfile.txt) $process1 = [regex]::Replace($source, "line", "line2") $process1 | out-file -encoding ascii textfile2.txt You can create a test file call textfile.txt with simple lines like this to test it line line Some line More line here Have I missed something obvious?   • Delete a line from a file in java

    Ok, so I'm trying to delete lines from a text file with java. Currently the way I'm doing this, is I'm keep track of a line number and inputting an index. The index is the line I want deleted. So each time I read a new line of data I increment the line count. Now when I reach the line count that is the same index, I dont write the data to the temporary file. Now this works, but what if for example I'm working with huge files and I have to worry about memory restraints. How can I do this with.. file markers? For example.. place the file marker on the line I want to do delete. Then delete that line? Or is that just too much work?

  • reading a line, tokenizing and assigning to struct in C

    line is fgets'd, and running in a while loop with counter n, d is a struct with 2 char arrays, p and q. Basically, in a few words, I want to read a line, separate it into 2 strings, one up until the first space, and the rest of the line. I clean up afterwards (\n from the file becomes \'0'). The code works, but is there a more idiomatic way to do this?   • Modifying AD Schema permissions from the command line

    Recently while making some changes for a client, I accidently dug myself into a pretty deep hole.  I was trying to explicitly deny a certain user from reading a few group policies including the Default Domain Policy.  When I went in to make the change I accidently denied Authenticated Users rather than the AD user object.  This of course made the GPO inaccessible to all users including any with domain admin rights.  The policy could no longer be modified in the GPMC and worse, changes could not be made through ADSIedit.   The errors I was getting from inside ADSIedit when trying to edit the container looked like this This object has one or more property sheets currently open. Invalid path to object The only solution was to strip Authenticated Users from the container ACL completely in the schema, then re-add it back with the default read and apply rights.  To perform this action, I used a command I had never used before:  DSALCS.exe  It’s part of the DSMOD group of tools.  Since this command interacts with the actual schema, you have to know the full LDAP container or object name.  In this case the GUID of the Default Domain Policy: {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}   The actual commands I ran looked like this:   To display the current ACL of the container: c:\>dsacls “cn={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},cn=Policies,cn=System, dc=domain,dc=com” /A To strip Authenticated Users from the ACL of the container: c:\>dsacls “cn={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},cn=Policies,cn=System, dc=domain,dc=com” /R “NT Authority\Authenticated Users”   For full reference of the DSACLS.EXE command visit: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281146 Once the Authenticated Users was cleared from the ACL, I was able to use Group Policy Management Console to reassign the default permissions.

  • MySQL dump, output each table row on a new line whilst using --extended-insert

    I'm having an issue, where for ease of use, I'd like to be able to format a command line MySQL dump so that each row of a given table is on a new line when using the --extended-insert option. Usually when using --extended-insert, every row of a given table is outputted on one line, and as far as I am aware there's no way to change this, other than post-processing the dump with perl or such like. The format I'm looking for is: -- -- Dumping data for table `ww_tbCountry` -- INSERT INTO `ww_tbCountry` (`iCountryId_PK`, `vCountryName`, `vShortName`, `iSortFlag`, `fTax`, `vCountryCode`, `vSageTaxCode`) VALUES (22, 'Albania', 'AL', 1, 0.00, '8', 'T9'), (33, 'Austria', 'AT', 1, 15.00, '40', 'T9'), (40, 'Belarus', 'BY', 1, 0.00, '112', 'T9'), (41, 'Belgium', 'BE', 1, 15.00, '56', 'T9'), (51, 'Bulgaria', 'BG', 1, 15.00, '100', 'T9' However, when I dump a database using Phpmyadmin, using --extended-insert, each row is dumped on a new line (as shown by the example above). I've gone through Phpmyadmin and can't find any documentation that would explain this. Is anyone able to shed any light on this? Thanks in advance, Ian

  • Add AD Domain user to sudoers from the command line

    I'm setting up an Ubuntu 11.04 server VM for use as a database server. It would make everyone's lives easier if we could have folks login using windows credentials and perhaps even make the machine work with the current AD-driven security we've got elsewhere. The first leg of this was really easy to accomplish -- apt-get install likewise-open and I was pretty much in business. The problem I'm having is getting our admins into the sudoers groups -- I can't seem to get anything to take. I've tried: a) usermod -aG sudoers [username] b) adding the user names in several formats (DOMAIN\user, user@domain) to the sudoers file. None of which seemed to take, I still get told "DOMAIN\user is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported." So, how do I add non-local users to the sudoers?

  • Screen (command-line program) bug?

    fired up my Minecraft server again after about a year off. My server used to run 11.04, which has since been upgraded to 12.04; I lost my management scripts in the upgrade (thought I'd backed up the user's home directory), but whatever, I enjoy developing stuff like that anyways. However, this time around, I'm running into issues. I start the Minecraft server using a detached screen, however the script is unable to 'stuff' commands into the screen instance until I attach to the screen then detach again? Once I do that, I can stuff anything I want into the server's terminal using the -X option, until I stop/start the server again, then I have to reattach and detach in order to restore functionality?   • Line-length-tolerant XML diff

    I've looked at the answers to this question, and unfortunately none of them has helped me so far. Not to beat about the bush, the second edition of C# in Depth is now in copy edit. I want to be able to see what the copy editor's done really easily, so I can reject or accept his changes. We're using a modified form of docbook, but I'm happy enough looking at the raw XML source. All fine so far - except that when the copy editor makes a change, that can change the line wrapping. So something that used to read: <para>Foo bar baz second line</para> now reads <para>Foo bar grontle baz second line</para> Now the real change here is the insertion of "grontle". I don't care that "baz" has moved from the first line to the second line... but all the diff tools I've seen do. I realise that one option would be to reformat the whole document (or possibly just whole paragraphs) into single lines... but that's then really hard to read, because diff tools don't wrap when they're displaying. I'm sure I can manage with the tools I've got, but if anyone knows of anything better, I'd be really glad to hear about it. I suspect my publishers would too :) (I've included the Windows tag here because I'd really need it to be available on Windows. I'd like to hear about any non-Windows software too, but only in case I could help to build it on Windows :)

  • match and export subject line and from header with procmail

    I would like to use procmail or a combination of procmail and formail to take an email message and match a specific keyword in the Subject: line/header, and if matched, export the contents of the Subject: line/header, and the contents of the From: line/header to a perl script. I have researched this, and have not been able to get this working all the way. I am new to procmail, and I assume I need to use a nesting block, but I am not sure how to get the data and then export it. I have been able to match the subject line and export it to a perl script where it is read via ARGV0, but get lost when trying to export and match multiple fields. I tried subscribing to the procmail listserv, but it appears to be broken. Can someone help me with this, please?

  • Oracle Inroduces a New Line of Defense for Databases

    Today at the 2011 RSA Conference, we announced the immediate availability of our new Oracle Database Firewall, the latest addition to a comprehensive portfolio of database security solutions. Oracle Database Firewall is a network-based software solution that monitors database traffic, and can detect and block SQL injection and other attacks from reaching Oracle and non-Oracle databases. According to the 2010 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report, SQL injection attacks against databases are responsible for 89% of all breached data. SQL injection attacks are a technique for controlling responses from the database server through applications. This attack exploits the inherent trust between application layer and the back-end database. Previously the only way organizations had to safeguard against SQL injection attacks was a complete overhaul of their application code. Obviously a very costly, complex, and often impossible undertaking for most organizations. Enter the new Oracle Database Firewall. It can help prevent SQL injection attacks by establishing a defensive perimeter around your databases. The Oracle Database Firewall uses an innovative SQL grammar analysis to inspect the database traffic against pre-defined policies. Normal expected traffic is allowed to pass (and can be optionally logged to demonstrate regulatory compliance), ensuring no false positives or disruption to your business. SQL statements that are explicitly forbidden or unknown SQL statements can either pass, be logged, alert, block or be substitute with pre-defined SQL statements. Being able to substitute an unknown potentially harmful SQL statement with a harmless statement is especially powerful since it foils an attack while allowing the application to operate normally and preventing DoS attacks.   • One-line command to download Ubuntu ISO?

    I want to download an Ubuntu ISO, preferably over bittorrent, and verify its integrity. Currently, the following steps are required: start web browser, go to ubuntu.com, find download link find gpg signature for the checksums get the gpg key to check gpg signature of the checksums wait until download finished gpg verifiy checksum verification Isn't there a simpler way? Just like apt-get install 12.04-64bit-ubuntu-iso apt-get install 12.04-32bit-server-iso etc.? Of course, apt-get (or whatever it would be called) should download over bittorrent to remove load from the servers. If it doesn't exist, it should probable post that at ubuntu brainstorm? Is there already such a tool? I wanted to ask before posting to brainstorm.
