    Yes, i have Myopia and that's really annoying and make me blame myself why i've choosen this field. And i think a lot of people like me here who should stay a maximum of 12inches to see the laptop screen clearly :'( What did you choose/Or the best choice in order to correct your short-sight? Glasses Contacts Overnight Contacts Lasik I'm really confused because some people say glasses are decreasing the sight more, other say Lasik is just a luck, others prefer overnight contacts which you sleep with'em.

  • TicTacToe AI Making Incorrect Decisions

    A little background: as a way to learn multinode trees in C++, I decided to generate all possible TicTacToe boards and store them in a tree such that the branch beginning at a node are all boards that can follow from that node, and the children of a node are boards that follow in one move. After that, I thought it would be fun to write an AI to play TicTacToe using that tree as a decision tree. TTT is a solvable problem where a perfect player will never lose, so it seemed an easy AI to code for my first time trying an AI. Now when I first implemented the AI, I went back and added two fields to each node upon generation: the # of times X will win & the # of times O will win in all children below that node. I figured the best solution was to simply have my AI on each move choose and go down the subtree where it wins the most times. Then I discovered that while it plays perfect most of the time, I found ways where I could beat it. It wasn't a problem with my code, simply a problem with the way I had the AI choose it's path. Then I decided to have it choose the tree with either the maximum wins for the computer or the maximum losses for the human, whichever was more. This made it perform BETTER, but still not perfect. I could still beat it. So I have two ideas and I'm hoping for input on which is better: 1) Instead of maximizing the wins or losses, instead I could assign values of 1 for a win, 0 for a draw, and -1 for a loss. Then choosing the tree with the highest value will be the best move because that next node can't be a move that results in a loss. It's an easy change in the board generation, but it retains the same search space and memory usage. Or... 2) During board generation, if there is a board such that either X or O will win in their next move, only the child that prevents that win will be generated. No other child nodes will be considered, and then generation will proceed as normal after that. It shrinks the size of the tree, but then I have to implement an algorithm to determine if there is a one move win and I think that can only be done in linear time (making board generation a lot slower I think?) Which is better, or is there an even better solution?

    I'm trying to adjust a CSS page layout using min-width and max-width. To simplify the problem, I made this test page. What does min-width mean if the element will happily get narrower than that if the browser window keeps shrinking? Is there any way to achieve what I want: have these elements sit side-by-side, happily shrinking until they reach 200px each, and only then adjust the layout so that the second one drops down? And of course... What am I doing wrong?

    I have a large file (hundreds of megs) that consists of filenames, one per line. I need to loop through the list of filenames, and fork off a process for each filename. I want a maximum of 8 forked processes at a time and I don't want to read the whole filename list into RAM at once. I'm not even sure where to begin, can anyone help me out?

  • Why does Git.pm on cygwin complain about 'Out of memory during "large" request?

    Hi, I'm getting this error while doing a git svn rebase in cygwin Out of memory during "large" request for 268439552 bytes, total sbrk() is 140652544 bytes at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/Git.pm line 898, <GEN1> line 3. 268439552 is 256MB. Cygwin's maxium memory size is set to 1024MB so I'm guessing that it has a different maximum memory size for perl? How can I increase the maximum memory size that perl programs can use? update: This is where the error occurs (in Git.pm): while (1) { my $bytesLeft = $size - $bytesRead; last unless $bytesLeft; my $bytesToRead = $bytesLeft < 1024 ? $bytesLeft : 1024; my $read = read($in, $blob, $bytesToRead, $bytesRead); //line 898 unless (defined($read)) { $self->_close_cat_blob(); throw Error::Simple("in pipe went bad"); } $bytesRead += $read; } I've added a print before line 898 to print out $bytesToRead and $bytesRead and the result was 1024 for $bytesToRead, and 134220800 for $bytesRead, so it's reading 1024 bytes at a time and it has already read 128MB. Perl's 'read' function must be out of memory and is trying to request for double it's memory size...is there a way to specify how much memory to request? or is that implementation dependent?   • Add and Subtract 128 Bit Integers in C(++)

    Hello :) I'm writing a compressor for a long stream of 128 bit numbers. I would like to store the numbers as differences -- storing only the difference between the numbers rather than the numbers themselves because I can pack the differences in fewer bytes because they are smaller. However, for compression then I need to subtract these 128 bit values, and for decompression I need to add these values. Maximum integer size for my compiler is 64 bits wide. Anyone have any ideas for doing this efficiently? Billy3

    Setup: 64bit Linux 64bit SUN Jvm 1.6.0_20 Weblogic 10.3 Is it possible to run Weblogic 10.3 in this setup with a maximum heap size of 8gb? We have recived answers from oracle support that states that it might not be possible to address more than 4gb with this setup. Please submit any official links that support any statements that it is possible to run this setup with more than 4gb of heap size. We can not find any documentation of any limits of heap size when running with this setup. Thanx
