  • Firefox 4 show tools menu in button interface

    I like the extra vertical space provided by the latest firefox beta (4b9). However, the button interface doesn't give you access to the tools menu. I know that I can either temporarily enable the menubar by holding down the ALT key, but flipping a flag in about:config would be preferable. Does such a flag exist? Edit: I want to be able to access the tools menu from the new button interface like you can with Bookmarks, History, Options, and Help.

  • Windows 7 won't show SATA Hard Drive in My Computer

    I have clean install of Windows 7 x64 with two SATA hard drives. When I open My Computer, I can see only the drive where Windows are installed (and all partitions), but I don't see the other one. When I go to disk manager, I can see that both drives are detected and the one that I don't see in My Computer is also marked as Primary, but when I right click, the Open and Browse are gray. I also checked drives with gparted on live Ubuntu and they both seem to work correctly, the second drive wasn't marked hidden or anything else. Before installing Windows 7, I had Windows XP, where both drives worked properly.

What could have caused such strange permissions (500) and how can i set it back to an normal level (555) ?     Does anyone know how to change the layout (either option or extension) for Thunderbird 3 to make it look like the default layout in Outlook? Basically, in Vertical View, I can get my Folders on the left, next to a 2 line listing of each message (Sender and Time line 1, Subject on line 2), and Message Pane on right? If not, I'll also take as Notes links to guides on how to make my own extension.

  • Vim lint check - only show message if there's an error

    I have this line in my .vimrc, which means "when I save a .rb file, run it through ruby -c" (the ruby interpreter's error checking). autocmd BufWritePost *.rb !ruby -c <afile> When I save that file, I always see output at the bottom of the screen, so I get used to it and start ignoring it. What I want is to only see output if there are errors. I can see that when there are errors, after it says what they are, at the bottom, it says "shell returned 1." How can I modify this line so that it only shows a message if the shell returns 1? Is there a way to conditionally surpress output from a shell command run in vim?

  • Sysinternal's Process Explorer v14 doesn't show network activity

    The new version of Process Explorer shows network activity history, but it doesn't in one of my computers. This particular PC runs Windows XP SP3 and it has just been reformatted so everything is "fresh". I have even installed WinPCap and Microsoft Network monitor, in case some of these drivers were necessary, but the graph stays in 0. Any ideas why this could happen? I would ask in Sysinternal's forum, but I really don't want to register in yet another forum.

    as part of a recent windows update, the irritating and intrusive intellipoint microsoft mouse software now seems to have been replaced by the even more irritating and intrusive "microsoft mouse and keyboard center[sic]" I am left handed and need to switch the left and right mouse buttons round. the option to do this has disappeared from the mouse control panel, to be replaced by a link which opens up said mouse and keyboard center. this in turn is a window which allows me to change settings on the keyboard but does not have any way to control mouse settings any hints would be very welcome. this is driving me nuts.

    I love the fact that tree and list controls in Windows allows incremental searches. Just select a starting point, and type, and the control will select the best matching node for you. This works in SSMS, but there's an annoying problem, especially so in the table node. SSMS prefixes all table names with the schema name and a dot. To make an incremental search here, I have to type 'dbo.', followed by whatever I'm searching for. Is there an option to turn off this table name representation in SSMS? I hope I'm asking this on the right stack exchange site. If you feel it's off base, let me know!

    Hi, In one of my linux machines, when i give reboot command at the shell command prompt then press enter, i get another command prompt and then the system reboots. $reboot $ But in one of my office Linux machines, when i give the reboot command, it suddenly reboots without showing another shell command prompt What could be the reason for this? I need the first behavior to be present in my office machine also. Kindly tell me where i should tweak my office machine. Thanks

There was a microsecond patch to allow mysql to be configured to log queries that take longer than X microseconds to run. But is there a way to have the log output the query time in either milliseconds or microseconds?

  • Bitdefender rescue disk does not show my C drive

    My machine (winXP) is infected with virus and I am unable to start my machine. Therefore I have used BitDefender rescue disk to remove the viruses. But I am not able to see my C drive. All other drivers are able to see and scan. Even after I removed all viruses, my machine is not starting. Giving the same error message. I think due to viruse it is not visible to bitdefender. Please help me out. Appreciate your help.

Q1 For example, in Paint.Net, whenever I move mouse cursor, I can immediately see the feedback from bottom-right corner (x, y), how can I see such info in photoshop while I use eyedropper function? Q2 For example, when in crop mode, I drag-drop a rectangle but I cannot see the size of the created region of interest? Thank you

  • sudo fdisk in a live session does not show all hard drives

    I am having Grub2 issues in my Ubuntu 10.04 dual boot, 2 hard drive system. So I am attempting to follow the standard grub2 reinstallation guide (cant post link because of spam filters allowing only one... ?_?) Don't know if this is the root of my problem, but my speedy internal HD with my OS on it is not showing up anywhere in a live session. Not in nautilus, behind fdisk.... no where. When I can get the main system to boot, there is no issue seeing all available partitions. But the live session sees only the 1TB internal media/backup hard drive. I need access to the other hard drive and it's partitions to finish the grub2 re-installation but I am not sure anymore that is the underlying issue. Anyone have experience with this? The issue I have identified as a grub2 issue is fully described here. SandPvvr describes it exactly. Some notes: I do not see the grub2 menu for my os's holding down the shift key after my bios screen works maybe 10% of the time Not related to reinstalling a windows os. havent been touched in a year do some web development. issue may have started when I was playing with ruby and django. not sure on this.   • Firefox: tabs containing a single image sometimes show generic icon instead of thumbnail

    My version of Firefox is 3.5.9, but I've had this issue since single-image tabs started showing a thumbnail of the contained image. Typically, a tab containing a single image will use a thumbnail of the image as the icon before the tab title. Sometimes, though, this icon will be the generic “shaded sphere on blank page” (or perhaps whatever your theme defaults to). I'm guessing this happens whenever height or width is larger than 1024, but I seem to recall (perhaps erroneously) exceptions to this rule. Anyway, hopefully someone will know the definite answer to: Why does this happen?   • Configuring htaccess to show authentication prompt only for subdomain

    How do I write the htaccess so that it will only require authentication when on admin.example.com, but not on www.example.com (like by using some if-else clause)? Background: I have a site running in two modes: The admin mode should be reached at something like admin.example.com, whereas the normal mode would be www.example.com -- but both should point to the same directory & scripts within them (the scripts then turn on certain editing features by checking if the script is accessed from the admin subdomain). Edit: I can now see this has been asked and answered at StackOverflow, though I can't get the top answer to work for me...

  • How to fix Windows 2008 R2 show less memory than available

    I've got Win2008 R2 64bit installed on Dell R410 server with 8GB of RAM. Dell Open Manage shows 8GB total and 4GB available for use, In Windows Control Panel, System i see 64bit and 8GB of RAM while in Windows Task Manager at Performance tab there is 4GB of memory available. Dell support has made some checks and told me that if BIOS shows 8Gb of RAM and indeed BIOS does then it's operational system issue. Tried to search online for resolution but none found. Please help, thanks

    I am using IIS as a webserver on my development machine for PHP webdevelopment. Or at least, I am trying to. When there is a syntax error in a PHP script and I open that file in my webbrowser, I just get an 503 "internal server error" and the default IIS error page for this error. Some browsers dont open that file at all, possibly because of the 503 HTTP Response Header. I would like IIS to act in that case just like the apache webserver: display the PHP file with the error anyway, so that the error message gets printed out. How can this be done? EDIT: PHP settings: display_errors is on and error_reporting is set to E_ALL

  • Nice way to show Powerpoints and Video

    I'm looking for a sleek way to display Powerpoint presentations and video footage in sequence. Embedding video in .ppsx is not something i want to do, reasons are plenty (video footage being VC-1 1080p would be the first). Is there a media player (needs to run on win32) capable of playing both formats? My hackish way of doing this would be a .cmd with powerpnt.exe bobloblaw.ppsx mplayer.exe -fs video.wmv pwoerpnt.exe whitepowerbill.ppsx and so on Of course, this has a lots an lots of drawbacks, including begin really hard to break out of the chain :) Thanks a lot.
