I'm wondering, what do you use for your programming box, based on Mac OS X?
What editor, file transmission client etc. do you prefer and for which purposes?
Firstly I used this call jQuery('#grid').jqGrid('editRow',id,true,pickdates);, it worked fine with UI Datepicker integration, but editRow is implemented for inline editing, but I prefer modal dialog, so I switched to editGridRow, now I can't find the way to call my custom function (pickdates) in onClick-event. My current call is jQuery('#grid').jqGrid('editGridRow',id,{closeOnEscape:true,width:400,savekey:[true,13]});
Thanks

I have a Database named CarsType.accdb there are four fields in the data base Item_Name, Item_Num, Item_Qty, Item_Cost.
I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost). I prefer doing it in VB versus writing in my access program. All I am wanting to do it multiply item_qty * Item_Cost How would I go about doing that?
I use Fiddler for intercepting HTTP traffic when using IE or Firefox. Now that I'm using chrome for most of my day, I would like to be able to see the http traffic using something like Fiddler. What do chrome developers use ? I prefer something automatic like Fiddler but something that needs config, etc would also help.
P.S : I'm on windows vista 64-bit HOME PREMIUM, if that's important.
Hi,
I have read some comments in some forums saying that Linux programmers usually do not use any IDE. They prefer to use Vim and Emacs to do their programming.
If I'm not mistaken, Vim and Emacs are just text editors, similar to notepad, but with syntax highlighting.
I just want to know how Linux programmers create complicated GUI application without using any IDE.
Thanks.
I'm in the process of weeding out all hardcoded values in a java library and was wondering what framework would be the best (in terms of zero- or close-to-zero configuration) to handle run-time configuration? I would prefer xml-based config-files, but it's not essential.
Please do only reply if you have practical experience with a framework. I'm not looking for examples, but experience... Thanks for taking the time.
I know you use the C based networking API to do FTP communication but I'd prefer to use something a little higher level. I've seen a few Objective-C based wrappers but I'm not sure what to use. I don't need that complex of FTP interaction. Its just the typical create/delete dirs, upload/download files... What do you recommend?
When I create an NSObject subclass, I always get an empty implementation. There are some things I always put in my code like pragma marks and -dealloc methods. I prefer to just delete stuff that I don't need over writing it with typos from scratch every time I need it. I need -dealloc and -init almost always, but they don't ship with the default template. Is there a way to customize what's in there?
Geo-location has been using most by Websites to redirection, but I have found that several IP addresses locate a country which has using several languages.
Meantime, some users prefer to using the language setup in their system. For example, a person from United States goes to Japan and using the Internet connection from there to surf Website, but the Website redirects him to Japanese language.
So, shall I giving the web user choice to select the language detect on their browser or force them to the website detected by IP address?
I have a bunch of methods like this in view helper
def background
"#e9eaec"
end
def footer_link_color
"#836448"
end
I'd like these methods exposed to the view, but I'd prefer the helper to be a bit more concise. What's the best way to turn a hash, say, into methods (or something else)?
I'm looking for a while to programmatically convert (or use a tool already created) MACESS .cra, .acr, and .err files to a readable format?
I'd prefer a .NET way of doing it however at this point I'll take any programmatic way.
PS I tried adding tags "MACESS Sungard" but I don't have 250 rep yet to do so.
Looking at this question the OWASP WebGoat project looks like a great way to learn about web security. Although the principles will equally to .NET applications I would prefer to use .NET based application. Does anybody know of a suitable .NET alternative?
I'm very keen to learn Iphone apps development. Can you experts give me some tips as to which programing tool I should learn? tools I should install [of course , I prefer free tools]?, operating system I need? [I only have windows xp and unix flavours on my Personal laptop]. Do I need to have Iphone to test my apps? [poor guy, I don't own a Iphone].
I am looking to connect to the CBOE, which provides a Corba / IIOP interface. There are many professional libraries for Java/C++, but I cannot find any for C#. What is the best library for corba in C#? (I have looked at IIOP.Net... it's an option, but it hasn't been updated in years, prefer a more maintained or professional library)
My colleagues and I are looking for alternative client tools for Mac OS X.
I tend to prefer the text-based interface and we have PHPMyAdmin installed on our development servers (Linux).
What are your recommendations?
(One recommendation per answer please, so people can up-mod individual recommendations).
I am debugging an algorithm that is being represented by a set of ViewModels. In order to debug this algorithm I would like to redraw the View while stepping through part of the algorithm. Is this possible? (I would prefer to just repaint, not do what they call "DoEvents" to process all events.)
I am looking for a component that resizes and ftp's images to a website.
It doesn't have to be free.
In fact, I prefer something we pay for that comes with solid support.
It has to be able to transfer multiple images at once too.
I am working on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) application and I am looking for a billing plugin of some sort that will manage my subscriptions, customers, and recurring billing. There is the RailsKits SaaS kit ($249.00), but I prefer to use open source software. I have also found maccman's saasy, but the phrase "At the moment this is alpha code - use at your own risk" makes me a tad bit nervous.
I have a project that has a GUI (written in QT) and a command-line version. I made use of the rectangle class included in QT: QRect. I would like to break the command-line version's dependency on QT, so I need a drop-in rectangle class that supports intersection and union. I could write one, but I'd prefer including one if possible.
Any ideas?
What is the best gallery to showcase web design you have came across?
Plan to get various creative agencies to showcase their works on an advertisement platform so that new user will be able to see various portfolio. When it come to select a suitable album, I am indecisive if it too plain (Load and display) or too flashy (coverflow album), which album/gallery script do you recommend for our corporate theme?
I would prefer background to be white.
Is there a way to display a MapView without extending MapActivity? I have other Activity class which I'm extending and I would prefer not to change that... I've seen that you can inflate using MapActivity, but didn't find any spec/examples on how to do it.
I am using Fluent NHibernate's (1.0 RTM) automapping feature to create my oracle database schema. My issue is that all the tables are using a single "hibernate-sequence", whereas I would prefer (and my boss would demand) a sequence generator for each table.
Any ideas?
MySQL has something like this:
INSERT INTO visits (ip, hits)
VALUES ('127.0.0.1', 1)
ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE hits = hits + 1;
As far as I'm know this feature doesn't exist in SQLite, what I want to know is if there is any way to archive the same effect without having to execute two queries. Also, if this is not possible, what do you prefer:
SELECT + (INSERT or UPDATE) or
UPDATE (+ INSERT if UPDATE fails)
I want to write a module on one html site - I will never leave the site
I think about two possible concurrent basic approaches:
We go into the module by use only a specific function (with specific params - everything which will happen, happen there - logic, exception handling etc)
We go in by using one handler-fct, which manages some kind of action & a dataArray (depending on the action also fcts will be called - but not directly maybe for exception handling)
So what you prefer?!
I'm in need of a way to detect mobile browsers server-side. I'd like a way that requires me to do little to set up and little to maintain, yet still provide me with accurate detection of (at the VERY least) Android, Mobile Safari and Blackberry browsers, along with alternatives like Opera.
I'd like to have at least the majority of the mobile market covered, and I'd really prefer virtually all of the market if it doesn't take much.
