• Writing asynchronously on a stream in cocoa

  Hi folks I have been trying to find any way for writing asynchronously on a stream in Cocoa. I have a set of events in my applications which will try to send data through the socket but i can't be blocked during this transmission due to design terms. I have tried setting a delegate on the output stream and check the event NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable but I don't know how this can be combined with the events that put data into the stream. Is there anyway for doing that? I thought using NSThread but I guess there is a better option. Cheers

• Keyboard blocking my view

  I have a UIView with another UIView inside it. On the inside UIView there is a textbox which I want to fill in. When I try to fill it in the keyboard blocks my view: The UIViewController has the following containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; self.view=containerView; //The apropriate releases etc are further on... When I touch it, the keyboard comes up as expected, but blocks the textbox I'm trying to fill in. How can I force the view to slide up? I expected that when I select it, the whole display would move up, but the keyboard just moves up and blocks it. What can I do?   hey people , I have a question concerning a button I would like to create which selects my previous selected row. This is what I came up so far but since I'm new with the functionality and such I could definately use some pointers I created a toolbar with a button and behind this button is the following action. -(void)clickRow { selectedRow = [self.tableView indexPathForSelectedRow]; [self.tableView:[self tableView] didSelectRowAtIndexPath:selectedRow]; } in my didSelectRowAtIndexPath there is a rootViewController being pushed rvController = [RootViewController alloc] ...etc So what I would like is my function clickRow to select the row and push the new rootviewcontroller (which has the right info since I'm using a tree ). • Problem With View Helpers

  I wrote few custom view helpers but I have a little trouble using them. If I add the helper path in controller action like this: public function fooAction() { $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } Then I can use the views from that path without a problem. • MySQL database Int overflow and can't login in.

  I have a MySQL database on my server and I"m pretty sure it's an int over flow on one table with an auto_increment field that's crashing it. I can delete the table, it's not very important, but I can't get into the server. Is there anyway to delete that database from the file system or without logging into MySQL? HELP! • Why is my launcher icon smaller when placed on the Android desktop?

  I have an application built for 1.5 and I am adding higher resolution drawables to support hdpi devices in 1.6 and above. My original application icon is 48x48. I created a second launcher icon that is 72x72 and placed it in a res/drawable-hdpi/ directory. When I install the application on my Nexus One the icon looks good when I view it in the application menu. But when I place it on the desktop it appears small relative to other icons, my guess is I'm seeing the 48x48 version with no scaling. These are my two resource directories: res/drawable/appicon.png res/drawable-hdpi/appicon.png Do I need to do something differently either with my directory structure or my manifest file to get things to display correctly? • Distributed, persistent cache using EHCache

  I currently have a distributed cache using EHCache via RMI that works just fine. I was wondering if you can include persistence with the caches to create a distributed, persistent cache. Alongside this, if the cache was persistent, would it load from the file store, then bootstrap from the cache cluster? Basically, what I want is: Cache starts Cache loads persistent objects from the file store Cache joins the distruted cluster and bootstraps as normal The usecase behind this is having 2 identical components running on independent machines, distributing the cache to avoid losing data in the event that one of the components fails. The persistence would guard against losing all data on the rare occasion that both components fail. Would moving to another distribution method (such as Terracotta) support this?

  I am confused as to when I can use the DOM properties and when I could use the Jquery methods on a Jquery object. Say, I use a selector var $elemSel = $('#myDiv').find('[id *= \'select\']') At this point, $elemSel is a jquery object which I understand to be a wrapper around the array of DOM elements. I could get a reference to the DOM elements by iterating through the $elemSel object/array (Correct?) My questions: 1. Is there a way to convert this $elemSel into a non JQuery regular array of DOM elements? 2. Can I combine DOM properties and JQuery methods at the same time (something like this) $elemSel.children('td').nodeName (nodeName is DOM related, children is JQuery related) EDIT: What's wrong with this? $elemSel.get(0).is(':checked') EDIT 2: Thanks for the responses. I understand now that I can use the get(0) to get a DOM element. Additional questions: How would I convert a DOM element to a JQuery object? If I assign "this" to a variable, is that new var DOM or JQuery? If it's JQuery, how can I convert this to a DOM element? (Since I can't use get(0)) var $elemTd = $(this); When I do a assignment like the one above, I have seen some code samples not include the $ sign for the variable name. Why? • ASP.NET WebMethod Returns JSON wrapped in quotes

  Hi, I have an asp.net page with a WebMethod on it to pass JSON back to my javascript. Bellow is the web method: [WebMethod] public static string getData(Dictionary<string, string> d) { string response = "{ \"firstname\": \"John\", \"lastname\": \"Smith\" }"; return response; } When this is returned to the client it is formatted as follows: { \"d\": \"{ \"firstname\": \"John\", \"lastname\": \"Smith\" }\" } The problem is the double quotes wrapping everything under 'd'. Is there something I've missed in the web method or some other means of returning the data without the quotes? I don't really want to be stripping it out on the client everytime. Also I've seen other articles where this doesn't happen. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

• IO completion port key confusion

  I'm writing an IO completion port based server (source code here) using the Windows DLL API in Python using the ctypes module. But this is a pretty direct usage of the API and this question is directed at those who have a knowledge of IOCP, not Python. As I understand the documentation for CreateIoCompletionPort, you specify your "user defined" completion key when you call this function with a file handle (in my case a socket) you are associating with the created IOCP. When you get around to calling GetQueuedCompletionStatus, you get a completion key value along with a pointer to an overlapped object. The completion key should identify what overlapped object and request has completed. However, let's say I pass in 100 as the completion key in my CreateIoCompletionPort call with an overlapped object. When the same overlapped object has its IO completed and it arrives back through GetQueuedCompletionStatus, the completion key that accompanies it is much larger and bares no resemblance to the original value of 100. Am I misunderstanding how the completion key works, or must I be doing it wrong in the source code I linked above?

  I am having a frustrating time trying to do something with Perl that would take a couple of lines of code in C#, namely to call a web service on a Windows server that requires Integrated Windows Authentication. The most likely candidate I've found for success is a module called LWP::Authen::Ntlm, but all the examples I've googled require you to explicitly supply username, password and domain. I don't want to do that - I just want the request to use the credentials of the currently logged in user, a la CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials in .NET. Have any of you Perl gurus out there ever had to do this? Thanks.

  I have two queries that I am using to generate a report from, the problem is when I run the report, three fields do not show any data at all for some reason. Is there any way to get around that message to link to it directly or does anyone have ANY clue why these fields are coming back blank? I am at wits end here!

  On Windows XP I am working on a .NET 3.5 web app that's a combination of WebForms and MVC2 (The WebForms parts are legacy, and being migrated to MVC). When I run this from VS2008 using the ASP.NET web server everything works as expected. However, when I host the app in IIS and try to use it, I see the following error Section or group name 'cachingConfiguration' is already defined. Updates to this may only occur at the configuration level where it is defined.
