  • Serialize an array of objects as Xxxxs rather than ArrayOfXxxx

    I'm using ASP.NET MVC with XmlResult from MVCContrib. I have an array of Xxxx objects, which I pass into XmlResult. This gets serialized as: <ArrayOfXxxx> <Xxxx /> <Xxxx /> <ArrayOfXxxx> I would like this to look like: <Xxxxs> <Xxxx /> <Xxxx /> <Xxxxs> Is there a way to specify how a class gets serialized when it is part of array? I'm already using XmlType to change the display name, is there something similar that lets you set its group name when in an array. [XmlType(TypeName="Xxxx")] public class SomeClass Or, will I need to add a wrapper class for this collection?

  • Implementing MEF with ASP.NET MVC?

    I am trying to find out if anyone has any experience or ideas of using MEF (Managed Extensible Framework (Microsoft's new plugin framework) with ASP.NET MVC. I need to create a standard ASP.NET MVC, which I have. But I need to offer additional functionality i.e. Views and Controllers, etc, depending on if I add a plugin. It doesn't need to be dynamically compiled i.e. source code... but a DLL that i put into the system.. Is there any way to dynamically load a DLL when the app starts, and then MERGE a VIEWS and CONTROLLERS with the main system? I don't know if i am on the right track here. Then, I suppose in the "STANDARD" views that come with the app, I can use an "IF THEN" to find out if a plugin is loaded and MERGE in a user control. Well, I'm talking out loud here, but I think you understand what I am getting at. Any ideas?

  • WCF Rest services for use with the repository pattern?

    Hi there, I am considering moving my Service Layer and my data layer (repository pattern) to a WCF Rest service. So basically i would have my software installed locally (WPF client) which would call the Service Layer that exists via a Rest Service... The service layer would then call my data layer using a WCF Rest Service also OR maybe just call it via the DLL assembly I was hoping to understand what the performance would be like. Currently I have my datalayer and servicelayer installed locally via DLL Assemblies locally on the pc. Also i presume the WCF REST services won't support method overloading hance the same name but with a different signature?? I would really appreciate any feedback anyone can give. Thanks

  • Looking for marg_setValue fix in iPhoneOS

    I am trying to compile a library originally written for Cocoa. Things are good until it looks for the function marg_setValue(). It says there is a syntax error before char in marg_setValue(argumentList,argumentOffset,char,(char)lua_toboolean(state,luaArgument)); (it's talking about the third argument, not (char) ) I am trying to port LuaObjectiveCBridge to the iPhone. It has two choices, either using Runtime or Foundation. I have discovered there are some problems with foundation so I am trying runtime. But the compiler is not co-operating.

  • Ideas for designing an automated content tagging system needed

    I am currently designing a website that amongst other is required to display and organise small amounts of text content (mainly quotes, article stubs, etc.). I currently have a database with 250,000+ items and need to come up with a method of tagging each item with relevant tags which will eventually allow for easy searching/browsing of the content for users. A very simplistic idea I have (and one that I believe is employed by some sites that I have been looking to for inspiration (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/topics.html)), is to simply search the database for certain words or phrases and use these words as tags for the content. This can easily be extended so that if for example a user wanted to show all items with a theme of love then I would just return a list of items with words and phrases relating to this theme. This would not be hard to implement but does not provide very good results. For example if I were to search for the month 'May' in the database with the aim of then classifying the items returned as realting to the topic of Spring then I would get back all occurrences of the word May, regardless of the semantic meaning. Another shortcoming of this method is that I believe it would be quite hard to automate the process to any large scale. What I really require is a library that can take an item, break it down and analyse the semantic meaning and also return a list of tags that would correctly classify the item. I know this is a lot to ask and I have a feeling I will end up reverting to the aforementioned method but I just thought I should ask if anyone knew of any pre-existing solution. I think that as the items in the database are short then it is probably quite a hard task to analyse any meaning from them however I may be mistaken. Another path to possibly go down would be to use something like amazon turk to outsource the task which may produce good results but would be expensive. Eventually I would like users to be able to (and want to!) tag content and to vote for the most relevant tags, possibly using a gameification mechanic as motivation however this is some way down the line. A temporary fix may be the best thing if this were the route I decided to go down as I could use the rough results I got as the starting point for a more in depth solution.   • Getting key/value pairs from plist-style xml using simplexml in php

    Here is an example bit from the xml file: <array> <dict> <key>Name</key> <string>Joe Smith</string> <key>Type</key> <string>Profile</string> <key>Role</key> <string>User</string> <key>Some Number</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>Some Boolean</key> <true/> </dict> </array> I have two separate goals. The first is to extract an array from the dictnode that would look like: [Name] => Joe Smith [Type] => Profile [Role] => User [Some Number] => 1 [Some Boolean] => true It's not crucial that the boolean be included, so if that adds too much complexity, I'd rather just know how to deal with the others for now. The second goal is to be able to select the value node (<string>, <integer>,etc) so that I can change the value. I would need to select it based on the text value of the preceding key element. I think the following XPath should work: //key[.=$keyname]/following-sibling[1] But I'm not sure. Basically, this whole system that Apple uses seems logical, but totally contrary to the XML is supposed to work. If I ran the world, the original XML would look more like: <dict type="array"> <value key="Name" type="string">Joe Smith</value> <value key="Type" type="string">Profile</value> <value key="Role type="string">User</value> <value key="Some Number" type="integer">1</value> <value key="Some Boolean" type="boolean">true</value> </dict> But since it is fairly logical, I am wondering if I'm missing some obvious way of handling it.

  • Adding business logic to a domain class using a getter style method name

    I'm attempting to add a method to a grails domain class, e.g. class Item { String name String getReversedName() { name.reverse() } } When I attempt to load the application using grails console I get the following error: Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'sessionFactory':Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.hibernate.PropertyNotFoundException: Could not find a setter for property reversedName in class Item ... 18 more It looks like Hibernate is interpreting getReversedName() as a getter for a property, however in this case it is a derived field and hence should not be persisted. Obviously in my actual code the business logic I'm exposing is more complex but it isn't relevant to this question. I want to be able to call item.reversedName in my code/gsps. How can I provide property (getter) access to a method in a Grails domain class without Grails attempting to map it with Hibernate?

    In an ASP.NET WebForms 2.0 site we are encountering an intermittent bug in IE6 whereby a file download attempt results in the contents of the being shown directly in the browser as text, rather than the file save dialog being displayed. Our application allows the user to download both PDF and CSV files. Where are we going wrong with this approach?   • VS 2010: Can't insert snippet using shortcut - incompatibility with resharper 5???

    Hi there, i recently installed some snippets that come with a framework i am using. And sure enought i checked via Tools > Code Snippet Manager and they are installed under "My Code Snippets". If i do insert Snipper (right click in code window) or CTRL K + CTRL X then i can search within all available snippets.... But i do believe its possible to just type the shortcut key (in this case it is mvvmlocatorproperty) and pressing tab inserts the snippet BUT when i type the shortcut key it is not recognizing anything... What am i doing wrong?? This is not an incompatibility with resharper 5? - which i have installed Any ideas really appreciated

    I am trying to build a small table using NSString. I cannot seem to format the strings properly. Here is what I have [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%8@: %.6f",e,v] where e is an NSString from somewhere else, and v is a float.     The INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error is the bane of every Android developer's life. It happens regardless of app size, or how much storage is available. Rebooting the target device fixes the problem briefly, but it soon comes back. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of message board posts from people asking why the problem occurs, but the folks at Google are frustratingly silent on the issue. There is a simple workaround. If your test device is running Android 2.2 or later then add the android:installLocation attribute to your application's manifest file, with the value "preferExternal". This will force the app to be installed on the device's external storage, such as a phone's SD card. For example: <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.andrewsmith.android.darkness" android:installLocation="preferExternal" This is more of a band-aid than a fix, and it may not be ideal if you want your finished app to install on the device's internal memory. But it will at least make the development process a lot less frustrating.

    I have started using freebsd lately and realized gdb does not support remote debugging on it. Whenever, I try to do remote debugging using gdbserver, I run into SIGSEGV crashes and error message says can’t find definition of “r_debug_state”. Has anyone ever experienced this and solved it? Statically compiled single threaded programs can be compiled using gdbserver. However, other than that it is mostly looking difficult to use. Let me know if anyone knows any other tools to do remote application debugging on bsd or how to fix the issue. (I am on x64 freebsd 9) Thanks

    Hi Our company uses some third party vendors to write some of our external facing web sites, however with one vendor we keep experiencing over inflated charges for simple changes and it has been decided to bring the product in-house. I have been tasked to provide a list of deliverables/checkpoints that would form a part of the agreement. what is the minimum you would expect if you are purchasing the source code of a product that you have paid for the development of, should we expect code for any custom libraries they may be using that were written not for us etc.. This is all written in .net so i am well aware we could just get the code via reflector, however i dont think my boss would go for this ;-)

  • gnat programming studio auto fix issues

    hi, I'm using GNAT Programming Studio to update some ada files. I have a style check, which for these old files produces literally thousands of warnings. Helpfully GPS has a little auto fix 'wrench' icon in the locations view, that's great but I don't want to go through and click the wrench ten thousand times. Is there a way to have it correct these errors automatically without me having to click each wrench? They are all right so I want to be changed automatically. I saw some documentation saying you could do it: http://www.adacore.com/wp-content/files/auto_update/gps-docs/Code-Fixing.html But I don't get the auto fix option when I right click. Maybe you need the pro version? I've tried everything I can think of. This would save hours of work, so it's really appreciated if someone could help on this. Thanks!

  • google maps call within a For Loop not returning distance

    Hi, I am calling google maps within a for loop in my javascript as I have mulitple routes that need to be costed separately based on distances. Everything works great except that the distance is only returned for one of the routes. I have a feeling that it is something to do with the way I have the items declared within the ajax call for the maps.   • Why is calling close() after fopen() not closing?

I wrote a tester program and found that I could GetFD 509 times, but the 510th time would error. Using Process Explorer, the number of Handles did not increase. So it seems that the dll is reaching the limit for the number of open files; setting _setmaxstdio(2048) does increase the amount of times we can call GetFD. Obviously, the close() is working quite right. After a bit of searching, I replaced the fopen() call with: long GetFD(long* fd, const char* fileName, const char* mode) { *fd = (long)open(fileName, 2); if (*fd < 0) return -1; return 0; } Now, repeatedly calling GetFD/CloseFD works. What is going on here?
