• Cannot set MemOpMode or ProcVirtualization with syscfg.exe

  When attempting to set MemOpMode or ProcVirtualization with syscfg.exe, I get the following error: C:\Users\EGr>syscfg --MemOpMode=AdvEccMode System Services or CSIOR disabled In the past, I have been told that this can be resolved by forcefully reinstalling the Dell Lifecycle controller firmware, and then trying again; however, I cannot find my notes on how to do that. Has anyone ever run into this issue, and does anyone know how I can fix it? If it is possible to forcefully reinstall the firmware, how would I do that? I've tried running the installer, but it fails after running for ~2 min. I believe there is a way to fix this as well, by adding/modifying a registry value at HKLM\System\Control\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPMIDRV (that might not be the correct path, but I know it is IPMIDRV). Is this a common issue? What is the actual cause of it?

• IIS is overriding my response content, if i manually set the Response.StatusCode

  Hi Folks, Problem when i manually set the HTTP Status of my Response stream to .. say 404 or 503, IIS renders up the stock IIS content/view, instead of my custom view. When I do this with the Web Development Server (aka. Casinni), it works correctly (ie. my content is displayed and the response.statuscode == my entered data. Is there anyway I can override this behaviour?   i've got a web service up and running with apache on ubuntu server in a vps from a hosting company (long sentence:)). i wonder when someone would like to set up a own mail server (postfix + dovecot)? cause i just want to be able to: send emails (account activation etc) to my users with php - the emails have to appear to come from the website's domain receive emails from my users (customer support etc) using Apple Mail/Microsoft Outlook. could this be accomplished with an email hosting company? are there situations i would benefit from setting up an own mail server on ubuntu?

• Automatically select last row in a set in Excel

  In Excel 2003, I am trying to keep track of some petty cash, and have it set up with the denomination along the top row, along with a sub total and difference column. I want a small section that shows how many rolls of coins I should have, by taking the total amount, and dividing it by however many should be in a roll, and rounding to the lowest whole number. That part is fine. What I want done is for that ONE section (how many rolls) I should have, based on the last row that has information in it. For example, if the last row is row 13, it should read the data from B13, C13, D13, etc. I don't mind learning Macros, if that's what the solution requires. I don't want to be manually selecting the last row each time though, I just want the worksheet to know automatically.

  I'm trying to connect to my office VPN from home. One small problem: my home desktop uses Vista (64-bit, Ultimate edition). On Vista, you're supposed to set up a VPN like so: Open the control panel Click on Network Click on "Connect to a Network" Configure a new connection of type "Office" The problem is, when I click on the link for "Connect to a Network", nothing happens. Can anyone suggest how I should go about troubleshooting this? (Or am I better off just upgrading to Windows 7?)

Eth1 is hooked up directly to the university network over 10Megabit. The router's uplink is hooked up to the university network as well, and it is also 10Megabit. Currently (I believe) all traffic on Calcium is going through eth0, through the router, regardless of whether it is internal or external. (How can I confirm this?) Ideally, traffic that is destined for the internal network (192.168.10.0/24) would travel over eth0 to the router, and wherever it is going. ALL other traffic should go over eth1.

  I need to configure an anonymous ftp with upload. Given this requirement I try to lock this server down to the bear minimum. One of the restrictions I wish to impose is to enable the upload of only a given set of file-names. I tried to disallow write permission to the upload folder, and put in it some empty files with write permission: /var/ftp/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] |-- upload/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] | |-- upfile1 [ftp.ftp] [--w-------] | `-- upfile2 [ftp.ftp] [--w-------] `-- download/ [root.root] [drwxr-xr-x] `-- ... But this approach didn't work because when I tried to upload upfile1, it tried to delete and create a new file in its' place, and there is no permissions for that. Is there a way to make this work, or perhaps use a different approach like abusing the deny_file option?

  I'm trying to make an ad-hoc network for personal uses.. while creating it, it was created but when i tried to turn internet sharing on i got this error Windows could not set up internet connection sharing (ICS) I looked up google what is ICS and i found that it was an option in sharing tab in my connection properties, so i tried to enable it and i got this error An error occurred while internet connection sharing was being enabled. The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion. I tried to also look up google for solution for this and i ended up with nothing really, i tried to enable the required services @ services.msc for it.. rebooted and still same thing it was working a while ago (had a problem at enabling my wireless for about 2 months and i just found a solution for it..) for some reason it doesn't now

Well from the table above, seem like it only allow localhost to connect to this db. Keep in mind that both my db and my GF are on the same VPS. Please help

  i am writing a script to install a program with bash, i want to exit on error so i added "set -e" in the beginning of my script. the problem is that i have to check if a user exists inside of my script, to do this i am using "grep "^${USER}:" /etc/passwd", if the user exists, the script runs normally, but if the user doesn't exist, this command exists, and i don't want to exit on this case (i have to create the user and continue my installation). so what's the solution to make my script continue running ?? i tried to redirect the output of "grep" to a variable, but i still have the same problem :( thanks.

  Hi, everyone I have a huge pcap file (generated by tcpdump). When I try to open it in wireshark, the program just gets unresponsive. Is there a way to split a file in set of smaller ones to open them one by one? The traffic captured in a file is generated by two programs on two servers, so I can't split the file using tcpdump 'host' or 'port' filters. I've also tried linux 'split' command :-) but with no luck. Wireshark wouldn't recognize the format.

• Set defualt open with app to a python program on a Mac

  I use the open source application Ulipad http://code.google.com/p/ulipad/ do edit restructured text files (rst). It is a python application that I launch via terminal like so python32 UliPad.py I have python32 as an alias to the 32bit install of python on my machine. I have several versions installed. First I would like a way to launch ulipad like other osx apps. Not really sure how to do this. I would like to set all .rst files to be opened with UliPad.py. Is there a way to do this? I know how to choose the default app in finder but not sure how to choose ulipad as that app.

• Loss of feature set with VMware EVC

  If I have two machines both 3rd Generation AMD Opteron, one Shanghai & one Istanbul and I can vMotion between them. Does it buy me anything to enable EVC at the 3rd Generation AMD level? Will I lose any CPU features? My thoughts are, I can enable EVC 3rd Generation with running VMs and I can't enable 2nd Generation EVC with running VMs. I figure there won't be a lose in any features because if there was a reduction in feature set then I couldn't enable EVC with running VMs.

  I've got a dir that i've lost controll over in an afs system. According to the system adminstrators my adminin subgroup (dsekt:admin) got rlidwka on the dir. I'm a member of this group (and i can list the members of the group and see my nick there) though I can't set the acl's for the dir. Nothing seemed to work. What am I missing here? Is there another way to achieve this?

• Excel 2007: Using a time to set XY chart axis scaling like in 2003

  In Excel 2003, when you created a XY chart using time as an axis, you could set the scaling of these axes by typing in the date. In Excel 2007, you have to use the decimal version of the time (eg. How many days since some arbitrary earlier date). I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to make such a calculation? A developer posted on a blog that this issue would be fixed in a future release, but all versions of Excel 2007 I have tried have not resolved this issue. The relevant quote: Those of you familiar with this technique of converting time to a decimal may recall that Excel 2003 allowed you to enter a date and time like “1/1/07 11:00 AM” directly in the axis option min/max fields and Excel would calculate the appropriate decimal representation. This currently does not work in Excel 2007 but will be fixed in a subsequent release.

I have tried to create secured (with 40 bit key) and unsecured network but Windows Vista still has problems to connect. • Set Display Refresh Rate in OSX w/o External Utilities

  I have an iMac and an LG Flatron connected as a secondary monitor. The recommended resolution for the flatron is 1680x1050 @ 65.290 Hz (horiz), 59.954 Hz (vert). For some reason, OSX is choosing a slightly different set of scan rates and this is currently my best guess of why the monitor goes into power saving mode when connected to the iMac (but works fine on a PC). Now, I resolved this by installing switchResX and fudging the scan rates according to the specs in the manual. But how does one change these rates w/o 3rd party tools? Which config files need editing? Thanks

  I'm trying to set the Language for Non-Unicode Programs from English to Japanese (I'm using Windows XP SP 3), but it won't let me. It looks like I've got the East Asian Language packs installed, but when I select "Japanese" from the drop-down box and hit "Apply" I get an error that says "Setup was unable to install the chosen locale. Please contact your system administrator". I'm already logged in as the administrator, and I've restarted several times but it still won't let me. Can anyone give me an idea as to how to solve this problem? Reinstalling Windows is absolutely out of the question.

• Redhat doesn't set my desired hostname on reboot

  I have a redhat (EL5) server that I need to change the hostname on. I'm trying to put it back into a known state to help with server provisioning activities. As part of changing the hostname, I'm updating /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/hosts. I also have an explicit call to hostname. My desired state is that the server thinks its hostname is "localhost". And a call to "hostname" returns "localhost". The problem I'm having is that when I reboot, the hostname is reverted to "localhost.companyname.com" which is not what I want. How do I ensure that the hostname is set up as just "localhost" when I reboot? My /etc/sysconfig/network file contains: NETWORKING=yes HOSTNAME=localhost GATEWAY=123.123.123.123 #I do have a proper IP address here My /etc/hosts file contains: 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 172.21.1.1 localhost.companyname.com localhost

  To test a specific embedded client, I need to set up a web server serving a couple of SSL (HTTPS) sites, say "main.mysite.com" and "alternate.mysite.com". These should be handled by the same certificate, with a Subject Name of "main.mysite.com" and a Subject Alternative Name of "alternate.mysite.com". This certificate needs to be in an authority chain back to a 'proper' CA (such as GoDaddy, to keep the cost down). My question is, are there any good tutorials on how to do this, or can someone explain the process? What sort of parent certificate do I need to purchase from the CA provider? My understanding of SSL certificates is limited, but as Manuel said in Fawlty Towers, "I learn...". I'm happy to work in Windows (IIS) or Linux (Apache) (or even OSX, for that matter).   Hi, I have a Brocade SAN Fabric Switch, a 200E. When using the web based management interface "SwitchExplorer" I can click the port, and I see "Port Administration Services". In the first screen of data that appreas, there's a row called "Health" which has value "Unmonitored". Do you know how to set this port to be Monitored? And if also - what "Health" monitoring does?
