• Static DHCP binding

  Good time of day, SF people. I have created a manual DHCP binding entry on a Cisco router so that a client would always get leased to it. The clients wants to get the same address on both of his dual-boot linux systems. He tries to get an IP address leased and he succeeds on one of the dual-boot operating systems. When he reboots to another one he gets a lease for a completely different one. I don't get it. The MAC addresses are the same (we checked in ifconfig, so what could be happening here? Why is the router confused? Or is it something else? Also, how can I check DHCP server IP address who I have got an IP address from (on Linux)? Configuration on Cisco: ip dhcp pool MANUAL_BINDING0001 host 192.168.0.64 255.255.255.0 hardware-address dead.beef.1337 dns-server 192.168.8.11 default-router 192.168.0.254 domain-name verynicedomainigothere.cn PS. Is it mandatory to use client-name configuration line?

• Excluding four IP's from a /32 static route

  I have a Cisco ASA routing a /32 of public addresses (non RFC-1812) through a private link. When the device sees the destination address it selects the private route instead of going out over the public network. This works great but I am now trying to exclude 4 IP's from the private route. Traffic to these addresses should go over the public internet instead of being routed over the private network. Can I just add anothe route for these four IP's or do I have to modify the existing route for the /32?

• Serving static content from cookie less domain and mod_deflate

  I have two domain. One domain with my main website and the other with js/css/etc.. files, static content. mod_deflate is enabled for both domains, but when i run ySlow in FireFox it says none of my static content is compressed. When i bring back the js or css file to my normal domain it gets compressed right. Only when its served from the other domain is it not compressed. Do i have to do some more configuration for this to work? I am using this line in my .htaccess file AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript text/css text/html text/xml text/plain application/x-httpd-php I tried to but the line in my httpd.conf file but it gives me the same results. PS. If this is more of a serverfault question i am sorry for this. But i see a lot of questions here concerning mod_deflate and ySlow

  I have a library I made, and now I want to utilize it in an application. I've believe I've properly linked to the library. Here are all the things I've done: Set the header search path Set other linker flags to "-ObjC" Added the static library xcode project Made sure the lib.a was listed as a framework target Added the library as a direct dependency Like I said in the title, I've successfully run the app with the static library in the simulator.   Hello, I'm tidying up some of my code with the correct scope on some methods and attributes (I have two classes and at the moment I have a number which I just declared as public to get working, but I feel I should look into this and make private where possible, for better practice) When working in eclipse it's suggested on one method, when i change it private from public, that I can fix it by dropping off the scope so the method just says "static void" instead of public/private static void. Is this a better scenario to have nothing, rather than private or public - or is the default scope equivelant to public anyway ? Thanks

• Static Javascript files not loaded in Express app

  I have an express app that has a bunch of static javascript files that aren't being loaded even though they are registered in my app.js file. Even public scripts (like jQuery: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.3/jquery.min.js) aren't processing. I can see the script tags in the generated html, but none of the functionality runs and I can't see the files loading in the web inspector. • Thoughts on Static Code Analysis Warning CA1806 for TryParse calls

  I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the CA1806 (DoNotIgnoreMethodResults) Static Code Analysis warning when using FxCop. I have several cases where I use Int32.TryParse to pull in internal configuration information that was saved in a file. I end up with a lot of code that looks like: Int32.TryParse(someString, NumberStyles.Integer, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, out intResult); MSDN says the default result of intResult is zero if something fails, which is exactly what I want. Unfortunately, this code will trigger CA1806 when performing static code analysis. It seems like a lot of redundant/useless code to fix the errors with something like the following: bool success = Int32.TryParse(someString, NumberStyles.Integer, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, out intResult); if (!success) { intResult= 0; } Should I suppress this message or bite the bullet and add all this redundant error checking? Or maybe someone has a better idea for handling a case like this? Thanks!

  I've inherited a site built with the CMS concrete5. I'm just starting to dissect it but was hit with a wicked short deadline on a complete overhaul to the nav. So, I want to build out a static nav and then go back when I have more time and integrate it with the auto-nav. Does anybody have experience working with concrete5? If so: Where would I drop my custom static nav? Is it possible to select it from the admin (so that the current one is still available if the client wants to switch back via the admin)? Thanks!

What I WANT to do looks like this: BigMassiveHeader.h: class foo { static void init_foos(); } Main.cpp: class foo; void init_foos(); int main(char** argv, int argc) { foo::init_foos() } This fails out with "error C2027: use of undefined type 'tt_py_ns::foo'" Is there a way to accomplish what I want to do with out making init_foos a free function, or including BigMassiveHeader.h? (BigMassiveHeader.h is noticeably effecting compile time, and is included everywhere.)

• plist vs static array

  Generally, I use static arrays and dictionaries for containing lookup tables in my classes. However, with the number of classes creeping quickly into the hundreds, I'm hesitant to continue using this pattern. Even if these static collections are initialized lazily, I've essentially got a bounded memory leak going on as someone uses my app. Most of these are arrays of strings so I can convert strings into NSInteger constants that can be used with switch statements, etc. I could just recreate the array/dictionary on every call, but many of these functions are used heavily and/or in tight loops. So I'm trying to come up with a pattern that is both performant and not persistent. If I store the information in a plist, does the iphoneOS do anything intelligent about caching those when loaded? Do you have another method that might be related?

  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around non-static nested classes in Java. Consider the following example, which prints "Inner" and then "Child". class Outer { class Inner { Inner() { System.out.println("Inner"); } } } public class Child extends Outer.Inner { Child(Outer o) { o.super(); System.out.println("Child"); } public static void main(String args[]) { new Child(new Outer()); } } I understand that instances of Inner always have to be associated with an Outer instance, and that that applies to Child too since it extends Inner. My question is what the o.super() syntax means - why does it call the Inner constructor? I've only seen a plain super(args) used to call the superclass constructor and super.method() to call the superclass version of an overridden method, but never something of the form instance.super().

  In this small example, c++ forgets size of an array, passed to a constructor. I guess it is something simple, but I cannot see it. • Clojure vars and Java static methods

  I'm a few days into learning Clojure and are having some teething problems, so I'm asking for advice. I'm trying to store a Java class in a Clojure var and call its static methods, but it doesn't work. Example: user=> (. java.lang.reflect.Modifier isPrivate 1) false user=> (def jmod java.lang.reflect.Modifier) #'user/jmod user=> (. jmod isPrivate 1) java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No matching method found: isPrivate for class java.lang.Class (NO_SOURCE_FILE:0) at clojure.lang.Compiler.eval(Compiler.java:4543) From the exception it looks like the runtime expects a var to hold an object, so it calls .getClass() to get the class and looks up the method using reflection. In this case the var already holds a class, so .getClass() returns java.lang.Class and the method lookup obviously fails. Is there some way around this, other than writing my own macro? In the general case I'd like to have either an object or a class in a varible and call the appropriate methods on it - duck typing for static methods as well as for instance methods. In this specific case I'd just like a shorter name for java.lang.reflect.Modifier, an alias if you wish. I know about import, but looking for something more general, like the Clojure namespace alias but for Java classes. Are there other mechanisms for doing this? Edit: Maybe I'm just confused about the calling conventions here. I thought the Lisp (and by extension Clojure) model was to evaluate all arguments and call the first element in the list as a function. In this case (= jmod java.lang.reflect.Modifier) returns true, and (.getName jmod) and (.getName java.lang.reflect.Modifier) both return the same string. So the variable and the class name clearly evaluate to the same thing, but they still cannot be called in the same fashion. What's going on here? Edit 2 Answering my second question (what is happening here), the Clojure doc says that If the first operand is a symbol that resolves to a class name, the access is considered to be to a static member of the named class... Otherwise it is presumed to be an instance member http://clojure.org/java_interop under "The Dot special form" "Resolving to a class name" is apparently not the same as "evaluating to something that resolves to a class name", so what I am trying to do here is something the dot special form does not support.

• Where are the static methods in gcc's dump file.c.135r.jump

  When I run gcc with the parameter -fdump-rtl-jump, I get a dump file with the name file.c.135r.jump, where I can read some information about the intermediate representation of the methods in my C or C++ file. I just recently discovered, that the static methods of a project are missing in this dump file. Do you know, why they are missing in that representation and if there is a possibility to include the static methods in this file, too. Update (some additional information): The test program, I'm using here, is the Hybrid OpenMP MPI Benchmark. Update2: I just reproduced the problem with a serial application, so it has nothing to do with parallel sections.
