• What is a quick way to access chrome extensions?

  I'm trying to switch from Firefox to Chrome, so trying to get up to speed with the interface. I have installed some Chrome extensions such as World Clock. To access it I have to: click wrench click tools click extensions on world clock, click "options" click save" and then I can use it. What am I missing here, there must be an easier way. Is there a way to just click something and have all my extensions in a dropdown, i.e. in one click? I couldn't find this on a list of chrome hotkeys.

• Any way to get back Chrome's Dialog box for cache clearing instead of the new tab?

  As of today's release of chrome (Tuesday, March 8, 2011) on both Mac & PC the settings are now in a tab (chrome://settings/advanced), needless to say when you're clearing your cache very frequently (cmd-shift-delete on mac, cntl+shift+delete on PC) it's quite tedious going back and forth in tabs. The click & clean chrome extension doesn't have a mac counterpart (plus I like the keyboard much more than the mouse). I've searched and have yet to find a way to get a dialog box instead of the new tab.

• How to remove an entry from Chrome's Remembered URLs from the url bar?

  I've got a url in Chrome "local.mysite.com" that autopopulates when I start typing "local.my" into the URL bar. Note that this URL DOES NOT EXIST in my browser history (at chrome://history/#e=1&p=0) because it isn't a real site and therefor couldn't ever be successfully visited and therefor never shows up in my history. The URL I want is "local.mysite.com/subdir/". That URL is like 3 down in the suggested results because I keep accidentally hitting "enter" when it auto-suggests the unwanted first URL and thus re-enforcing it's assumption that that is the one I want. How do I get rid of the "local.mysite.com" entry in Chrome's memory?

• Java plugin doesn't work in Chrome -- how can I fix this?

  This used to work fine until a week or so ago, and I am not sure what has changed since then. I have just uninstalled what seems to be all the JVM stuff on my machine and reinstalled with the latest recommended Java version from java.com (1.6, update 23). The plugin works fine in IE and Firefox, but in Chrome it fails and the pages that try to use the plugin act as if Java is not installed. I have tried this in both Chrome 8 and Chrome 9 with the same result. How can I diagnose and fix this?

• Why can't I right click on flash videos in Chrome? (Ubuntu 9.10)

  I'm trying to change the "quality" to low of a Hulu video so I can full screen it with out it being choppy but right click does nothing. When I right click in firefox it brings up a menu. I'm running Chrome on Ubuntu 9.10, is any one else having this issue I tried Google and got nothing back. I use chrome as my main browser, I have to switch to firefox every time I watch Hulu videos. Is there another way I cant change the quality of the flash video in Chrome?

• How do I skip the Keep/Cancel dialog for downloads in Google Chrome?

  This question is specifically for PDF files, because I work with them all day and have to download 20+ at a time. I use an extension called Linkclump which selects all links at one time. Since I disabled the Chrome PDF Viewer, these now automatically download (which I intended). The only problem is I get 20+ dialogs across the bottom of my screen that ask me if I want to Keep or Cancel my downloads. Seriously? I have to click Keep on every single one of them. This did not happen before in Chrome, the change was added a few versions ago I believe. Oh, and I'm using Chrome Dev v14.0.803.0.

Disable Chromes Ctrl+P handling of printing Sadly, Google seems intent on shoving this broken preview screen down our throats (The thought of someone not want to use their nonstandard, feature-poor alternative to a systemwide service is inconceivable to them, apparently), and the "disable" flag no longer seems to exist in recent versions. Anyone know how to disable it in modern versions of the browser, which no longer include this option under "chrome://flags?" (OS-X specifically?)

  Whenever I click a link from something like outlook or a program opens a web page (not when I click a link from within chrome). It opens up in Chrome since it is my default browser but if I already have a page open it will open in a new tab on that same window. I can't tell you how many times I forget about this and close the window out, accidentally losing the other tab too. Ofcourse, I can open a new chrome window and find it under recently closed tabs but I would really just prefer if they opened in their own window so I can prevent this.

  I have a laptop which I use for (the major part) of my work and private life, and would like to set those two apart starting with Google Chrome. So far, my Google Chrome contains my work bookmarks, logins/passwords and everything else ... which I use for work, which I use privately, which I use in my spare time (funny Youtube videos, what else :) Is it possible to define multiple Google Chrome profiles, let's say work and free-time, so one can quickly switch between them, where bookmarks, logins and so on, from one would be invisible in the other, and vice versa? Also, is it possible to put them into some directory different from the default, so one can easily backup them, when needed? If it is, could anyone describe it in simple terms, or his experiences if she/he has a better way of going about this?

• Keep a Window on top with a handy AutoHotkey script

  Are you tired of shuffling back and forth between windows to get your work done?  Here’s a handy tool that lets you keep any window always on top when you need it. There are many ways to use multiple windows efficiently, but sometimes it seems you need to keep a smaller one in front of a larger window and they never quite fit right.  Whether you’re trying to use Calculator and a web form at the same time, or see what music is playing while you’re catching up on your news, there’s many scenarios where it can be useful to keep one window always on top.  There are many utilities to do this, but they are often needlessly complicated and bloated.  Here we look at a better solution from Amit, our friend at Digital Inspiration. Always on Top Thanks to AutoHotkey, you can easily always keep any window on top of all the others on your screen.  You can download this as a small exe and run it directly, or can create it with a simple script in AutoHotkey.  For simplicity, we simply downloaded the application and ran it directly. To do this, download Always on Top (link below), and unzip the file. Once you’ve launched it, simply select the window you want to keep on top and press Ctrl+Space.  This program will now stay in front, even when it is not the active window.  Here’s a screenshot of a Hotmail signup dialog in Chrome with Notepad kept on top.  Notice Notepad isn’t the active application, but it is still on top. If you wish to un-pin the window from being on top, simply select the window and press Ctrl+space again.  You can keep multiple windows pinned at once, too, though you may clutter your desktop quickly! Always on Top will keep running in your system tray, and you can exit or suspend it by right-clicking on its tray icon and selecting exit or suspend, respectively. • How do you send information from one window to another in the same program?

  In the program I am trying to build, I have a menu button that opens a second window. The user puts information into the second window, presses the "Done" button, and the information is transfered into the main window. The problem I am having is opening the second window. I have both windows build in xaml files in Visual Studio but I can't find a way to show the second window. Using "Window window = new Window" does not fit my needs because 1) I already have the second window built and 2) I have tried this and I cannot figure out how to add children to the window; there is no window.children nor any grid to put the children into. Thank you in advance! Moments after I pressed post, I thought of something I hadnt tried: "WindowAdd add = new WindowAdd; //WindowAdd being the second window add.Show();" This does exactly what I want it to do. The next problem I have is sending the information the TextBoxes into the MainWindow. I am thinking cookies might work but am unsure. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

• Set a callback function to a new window in javascript

  Is there an easy way to set a "callback" function to a new window that is opened in javascript? I'd like to run a function of the parent from the new window, but I want the parent to be able to set the name of this particular function (so it shouldn't be hardcoded in the new windows page). For example in the parent I have: function DoSomething { alert('Something'); } ... <input type="button" onClick="OpenNewWindow(linktonewwindow,DoSomething);" /> And in the child window I want to: <input type="button" onClick="RunCallbackFunction();" /> The question is how to create this OpenNewWindow and RunCallbackFunction functions. I though about sending the function's name as a query parameter to the new window (where the server side script generates the appropriate function calls in the generated child's HTML), which works, but I was thinking whether there is another, or better way to accomplish this, maybe something that doesn't even require server side tinkering. Pure javascript, server side solutions and jQuery (or other frameworks) are all welcomed.

• Can I fix memory leaks in browsers? (Win7 64bit IE9 Chrome)

  I have a habit of opening websites in their own window, then getting interested in something else in another window while leaving the first window open with the intention of returning to finishing reading. Sometimes I'll leave browser windows open for quite a while. When I do, the browser locks-up gigs of memory until it uses so much, IE will no longer respond. I've seen one browser window use up over 2 gigs just sitting there doing nothing. Chrome appears to do it too, but it doesn't use nearly as much as IE. Is there a way to stop this? Any ideas what may be causing it? Is it a problem with the OS or the browsers? Any insight is appreciated.

• Any method to resize my app's window on Mac (macbook) to 1600 x 1200 or 1920 x 1200?

  I would like to make a screen capture for an app (Firefox), but I am using a macbook, so the display is at 1280 x 800. I think if I can somehow resize the window to 1920 x 1200, then I can use Command + Shift + 4 and then space bar, and then mouse click on that app to capture the whole app's window (which will be bigger than the screen) So I can resize the window horizontally to 1920 by dragging the window to the left, and then make it wider by going to the bottom-right corner of the window. But there seems to be no way to make it taller... even javascript: self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth+300,screen.availHeight+300); on the Firefox address bar (URL bar) won't work... it can make the window wider than the screen, but not taller. Is there any method at all?

We are #1 because we not thing that we make a great application and deploy them and think that we finished own works preharps in a small days we make a small website deploy them and improve them always latter. what the point they all talking about:- the conclusion is that software make by user feedback. they tell that he not spent much time and wait for a long time when their project was finish and they launch their website. preharps they tell that they make a small website in a small time and launched them. make a research on them later and make them better later and website growth as they thing. if they are late then someone else can win even their project was much good them other. not more but a little story:-  before few month i hear about a great website who sold many of books daily i myself purchase some from them to track how they work and how they provided service. i not found any problem with their service. the service they provided is good but when i see their website i found that the mockup code was very badly designed. i am not know the matter how they growth because they used very other stuff who make their website slow. when i research something more i found that their is very hard to implement the website look like them. on their blog they writing about a mail they have. the clone of them make by many other but not goes good as well as they make. after few month later website is looking great. many thing they improved and make them better as  other thing. a another conclusion that same as another story that user feedback. well now come to the point. we talking about Chrome,firefox and IE. what thing is goes common that they all are browser. but something goes different that Chrome is a one of the best browser. from a month many of issue submitted to chrome that user found when they use them. so what is make this different the different is that when feedback goes to someone they take a action and think to make them better so improvement of chrome based on feedback user put using many things. secondly because it's goes open-source many of developer contribute them and make them real browser not real [tape] browser as like IE [a good example]. as you see in video they talking about silent update in chrome and futurecoming chromium. the thing they implement is too good. because by this thing user not worry about a new version. i myself never find a problem that you need to user new version as we found same problem in other application. Well think are great in chrome and now talking about Firefox. Firefox is a best option for development as well as chrome best for surfing the internet. in firefox many thing are great like plugin [ex: Firebug] , addons personas themes and many other thing and customization in firefox make them really a browser not like a joker [IE a good example]. well now come to IE. are IE really great no. someone from Microsoft can say that ha ha hi hi because they can't see the power of open-source. they thing that they make a software and they never need user feedback because they produced windows who really great for user because they used them. example :- before few month Microsoft shipped Windows live. when i use them that i found that their is no sense make for using this one software. suppose you need to write a post through Live writer. the old version are great i myself have no problem but in 2011 i found that they changed everything in user interface. so learn a new thing and spent sometime more to learn a new version whenever need are same and feature are same so why user spent a little time more to learn a lesson who they want to teach even their is no sense to learn them. the problem in 2011 Live not only of mine their are many other have same problem as mine and forget live 2011 after the see a badly design user interface. even they tell we maked in WPF yeah yeah WPF we make in .net. are you can say that what is the matter .net for user. the user have no problem to use WPF based application even you make them fool as we make them in WPF 2020 they are future technologies and we launch it 10 year before only for you yeah you dear customer of mine. yeah they thing WPF is best and thing to implement every software they make even they forget to make better user interface but they also remember to make them next version in WPF. the IE 9 Rc release on 10 febuary. but are they really cool. how much feedback they take and take action of them. their is no answer because they thing to launch a software they never thing what user want and off-course not care of user feedback. as we mention in Firefox and in chrome user feedback have a big matter because sound come from a public and user who use the software not only who make them software as IE 9 have. so feedback take a opportunities to make their software better and less hassel to use them in user hands not only in developer hands. so IE9 is not a good guys who still need of user if they really want a experience. well what Microsoft implemented in IE. i am not talking about that furthure more but i found in article last days[why not say reading a google blog]  yeah see them in http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/microsofts-bing-uses-google-search.html Well their is nothing good for developer in IE9. the blah blah blah they can always said on MSDN and many other site they have. many from public talking about them because they never can see a good software outside Microsoft. they never talking about Firebug even in books they never show you that. well i know competitor never show you a stuff of competitor i have same issue from Yahoo. on a days i hear from newsletter from them they write a subline on the bottom that USE IE or Firefox to exerience better Web. i am agree with Firefox and i am not know they really talking about IE or joking but i never believe they forget to put chrome. well i know their is corporate rule everyone should follow first. so no problem yahoo i know the matter. well IE:- so what is IE and Why We should use IE. well their is no sense to use IE. the thing we expect from IE but never found that:- first thing is that as a developer we thing the customization as well as other browser have like in chrome have it's own customization and firefox is also great in this matter. but IE really for Web development. are you joking:- the thing they mention in their blog is that IE9 have a new developer tool who have three new panel or tabs. are this joke whenever Firefox and chrome have everyday a new plugin or great upgrade of old plugin they tell we add three new panel first is network second is blah third is blah. well nice joke you make all MSDN blogger i like the way you talking about IE.  even we know what matter the browser have. i thing whenever they make IE 6 they talking about IE as same as they talking today. Secondly their is no other tool to use with IE deveoper tool like Firebug is avilable in IE but not make by IE. firebug team themselves make them for IE. because many of developer thing to use firebug but can't use because they still goes mad about IE because day and night they only hear about tools maked by Microsoft. so no plugin [even very small developer tool] no customized no personas on themse. no update yeah why forget these topic come with us and share a little thing more. IE launch IE 6 after 7 after 8 and now 9 [even in future] but what they do. they do nothing on user feedback they still thing WPF is great because colors make user cool and they forget to implement other things as other already provide. Chrome and Firefox are come after IE. Mozilla firefox come in 2004 and chrome is late in 2008. even they are late they still focus on Developer and thing they feel first is that customization like developer tool , themese and perfsonas and many other great things. are they can find in IE even next i means 10 yeah IE10 never because they thing only making a software or force user to use new version of OS. i am confused that why not wait and force user to purchase windows 8 instead of 7. so IE have no customization even small developer tool i thing that they make a customizable interface like in firefox who configure by about:config. so thing is discussed about really not a point we thing to goes but now it's clear what is making no matter for version in Firefox and chrome. because chrome and firefox not wait for  a long time and explode a bomb to make publicity. they still work and make upgrade possible to user as soon as possible. • Discover What Powers Your Favorite Websites

  Have you ever wondered if the site you’re visiting is powered by WordPress or if the webapp you’re using is powered by Ruby on Rails?  With these extensions for Google Chrome, you’ll never have to wonder again. Geeks love digging under the hood to see what makes their favorite apps and sites tick.  But opening the “View Source” window today doesn’t tell you everything there is to know about a website.  Plus, even if you can tell what CMS is powering a website from its source, it can be tedious to dig through lines of code to find what you’re looking for.  Also, the HTML code never tells you what web server a site is running on or what version of PHP it’s using.  With three extensions for Google Chrome you’ll never have to wonder again.  Note that some sites may not give as much information, but still, you’ll find enough data from most sites to be interesting. Discover Web Frameworks and Javascript Libraries with Chrome Sniffer If you want to know what CMS is powering a site or if it’s using Google Analytics or Quantcast, this is the extension for you.  Chrome Sniffer (link below) identifies over 40 different frameworks, and is constantly adding more.  It shows the logo of the main framework on the site on the left of your address bar.  Here wee see Chrome Sniffer noticed that How-To Geek is powered by WordPress.   Click the logo to see other frameworks on the site.  We can see that the site also has Google Analytics and Quantcast.  If you want more information about the framework, click on its logo and the framework’s homepage will open in a new tab. As another example, we can see that the Tumblr Staff blog is powered by Tumblr (of course), the Discus comment system, Quantcast, and the Prototype JavaScript framework. Or here’s a site that’s powered by Drupal, Google Analytics, Mollom spam protection, and jQuery.  Chrome Sniffer definitely uncovers a lot of neat stuff, so if you’re into web frameworks you’re sure to enjoy this extension. Find Out What Web Server The Site is Running On Want to know whether the site you’re looking at is running on IIS or Appache?  The Web Server Notifier extension for Chrome (link below) lets you easily recognize the web server a site is running on by its favicon on the right of the address bar.  Click the icon to see more information. Some web servers will show you a lot of information about their server, including version, operating system, PHP version, OpenSSL version, and more. Others will simply tell you their name. If the site is powered by IIS, you can usually tell the version of Windows Server its running on since the IIS versions are specific to a version of Windows.  Here we see that Microsoft.com is running on the latest and greatest – Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5. Discover Web Technologies Powering Sites Wondering if a webapp is powered by Ruby on Rails or ASP.NET?  The Web Technology Notifier extension for Chrome (link below), from the same developer as the Web Server Notifier, will let you easily discover the backend of a site.  You’ll see the technology’s favicon on the right of your address bar, and, as with the other extension, can get more information by clicking the icon. Here we can see that Backpack from 37signals is powered by the Phusion Passenger module to run Ruby on Rails.   Microsoft’s new Docs.com Office Online apps is powered by ASP.NET…   And How-To Geek has PHP running to power WordPress. • taskbar-free window manager

  I'm looking for a window manager that is not based on the "standard" taskbar (which I find a poor idea and I'm completely tired of). I'm aware of tiling window managers and improvements in last versions of operating systems, but I can't find what I need. I suppose that any window takes the whole screen (or can be tiled), and I imagine switching between windows like that: on a hotkey or mouse hot zone the screen becomes a task switcher where tasks are organized in a somewhat convenient manner. Well, it's a bit like a taskbar with autohide, but I think there could be some more convenient ideas than simply stacking icons and descriptions... It is also supposed to be lightweight enough, for example to run on a netbook. Any suggestions?

  I have a set of (X)HTML files that I need to open with window.open() from an application homepage. I am able to open these files and read the data within them. function openFiles() { var files = document.querySelectorAll('td a'); //The list of files to scan is stored as links in an HTML table for(var i = 0; i<files.length; i++){ //Open each file in a browser window win = window.open(files[i].href); //Can I prevent the JavaScript in these files from executing? } } But the problem is that the scripts within the HTML files also get executed when opened like this. This is rather time-consuming and unnecessary; also, the scripts within those files may have side-effects. Is there a way to prevent JavaScript from executing on load?

• Initialize window code Mac OS X

  I'm currently reading "the red book" for learning OpenGL properly, and in one of the first examples, the author writes a line that says "InitializeAWindowPlease();" as a place holder for the code that will make a window to draw the OpenGL content in. Since I'm using Xcode for my programing, I know that I "get" a window to work with automatically (and that I have to make my own OpenGL view in interfacebuilder). How can I make this with pure code? I'm trying to learn programming, and I'm not to happy about taking "shortcuts" all the time. How can I make a window to draw my openGL stuff in? With Objective-C and C code I would love to see it. My goal is that I can make it without opening interface builder at all:)

• How To Switch To A Frame That Appears As A Pop Up Window

  I am using the following applications: Selenium 2.0 in C# Firefox I need to write a test that clicks a button and opens a frame as a pop up window. The frame does not have a name nor id. The source code in the frame starts with "html" instead of "frame". However, when you right click on the window, it shows that it is a frame. So, I think it is a frame instead of a window. I have tried the following code, but does not work: driver.SwitchTo().Frame(0) The error I get looks like below: error: No response from server for url http://localhost:7055/hub/session/126a4485-48cb-4230-b0b0-69c4169b1852/element/%7B706f4a88-56a7-4813-af1b-8e137ce676af%7D/click Please help. • NSWindowController window?

  I have a menu-bar based application, which displays a window, when the icon is clicked. It all works fine on Mac OS X Lion, but for some reason, an error occurs on Snow Leopard an sooner versions of Mac OS X. Anytime [TheWindowController window] is called the method stops, but the app keeps running. Because of this, I don't think that the window is just nil, it's corrupt, in some way. I have no Idea why this happens, and like I said, it only happens in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Btw. I use ARC, if that matters at all. Thank you!
