  • How to catch an expected (and intended) 302 Ajax response?

    So, if you look back at my previous question about Exchange Autodiscover, you'll see that the easiet way to get the autodiscover URL is to send a non-secure, non-authenticated GET request to the server, ala: http://autodiscover.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml The server will respond with a 302 redirect with the correct url in the Location header. I'm trying out something really simple at first with a Chrome extension, where I have: if (req.readyState==4 && req.status==302) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } With another ajax call set up with the full XML Post and the user credentials, But instead Chrome hangs at this point, and a look at the developer panel shows that it is not returning back the response but instead is acting like no response was given, meanwhile showing a Uncaught Error: NETWORK_ERR: XMLHttpRequest Exception 101 in the error log. The way I see it, refering to the exact response status is about the same as "catching" it, but I'm not sure if the problem is with Chrome/WebKit or if this is how XHR requests always handle redirects. I'm not sure how to catch this so that I can get still get the headers from the response. Or would it be possible to set up a secondary XHR such that when it gets the 302, it sends a totally different request? Quick Update I just changed it so that it doesn't check the response code: if (req.readyState==4) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } and instead when I alert out the value it's null. and there is still the same error and no response in the dev console. SO it seems like it either doesn't track 302 responses as responses, or something happens after that wipes that response out?

  • Is there a Chrome extension to add mailto links to email addresses?

    Wait, wait, this is a programming question! I want to build an extension if none exists. Imagine this: you come across a webpage that says "Just send a message to [email protected]" but to actually send the email, you need to highlight the address and then cut and paste it into the recipient field of a new compose window of your email client of choice. Obviously life would be easier if it were simply a mailto: link, so you could click on it and have a new message created automatically. (Or if the page designer had used a form, perhaps ...) I was originally going to ask if there was an extension to enable similar functionality for unlinked twitter @username mentions but I thought this email address problem would be a simpler situation. If you think it would be useless, perhaps I should look at the twitter username problem instead. Thanks for your feedback.

    Some pages on my website appear differently depending on where the user has been, using php sessions. for example with breadcrumbs: standard crumb setup: All Books - fiction - Lord Of the Flies if the visitor has just been on the 'William Golding Page', a session will have been created to say, this visitor is broswing by author, so i would check if( $_SESSION['browsing by] == 'author' ): and the breadcrumbs (for the exact same page as before) would now be: Authors - William Golding - Lord Of the Flies to summarise: So 1 page exists for each book, but depending where the user has come from, the page will show different breadcrumbs. the questions: Can search engines create my 'browsing by' SESSION? Would they index the same page multiple times (for each variation)?

    Now I have the coordinate of two locations, let say locationA with latitude 40 and longitude -80, locationB with latitude 30 and longitude -70, I want to create a mapView that I can see both locations with appropriate viewing distance. I got the new coordinate by finding the midpoint (in this example, {35, -75}), but the question is, How can I get an appropriate viewing distance? In particular, how can I calculate CLLocationDistance (if I'm using MKCoordinateRegionMakeWithDistance) or MKCoordinateSpan (if I'm using MKCoordinateSpanMake). Thanks in advance.

    Does anyone have tried to implement an app in GAE having both java and python? I have an existing app and my front end is in java. Now I want to use the existing datastore to be interfaced by python. My problem is i don't know how to define the relationships and model that would be equivalent to the one in java. I have tried the one-to-many relationship in python but when stored in the datastore, the fields are different than the one-to-many of java.   • How to programmatically launch a chromecast app from command line

    I want to launch a Chromecast app but NOT using the chrome extension or iOS or Android. Doing this from command line. I noticed that you can send a POST to your chromecast, and it will launch an app. For example if I do curl -H “Content-Type: application/json” http://CHROMECAST_IP:8008/apps/YouTube -X POST -d ‘v=oHg5SJYRHA0' Then it will start up youtube. But for some reason I can't do this with custom apps (in dev mode). I thought I'd be able to send a POST to http://CHROMECAST_IP:8008/apps/MY_REGISTERED_APP_ID, but no luck. I just get a 404 response. Hmmm... My app is just a simple webpage (it is not streamed media). I want to run a little headless server that starts my chromecast app everyday via a CRON task. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

    in the cpanel that i'm developing thre is a department for articles in arabic and english so i used two tinymce editors one for arabic and the other is for english it works as expected, but the problem is that when i'm using chrome browser the page suddenly become not responding and never come back and i need to restart it but in IE8 no problem at all. i've found in chrome task manager that the memory usage of the page is over 22 kilobyte. i'm also using jquery ui. i've tried the following 1- using jquery plugin the compressor tiny_mce_gzip.php 2- decreasing the plugins of tinymce [ispell,layers,..] what is the solution or what is the cause

    I'm writing a Chrome extension that uses a content script to modify certain parts of a website. The content script worked fine until I tried to add an options page to my extension.   • Need help with regex parsing (in perl)

    Hi all, need some help parsing an html file in perl. I used the LWP module to retrieve a webpage into $_ with $/ undefined so there are no newline issues. Then I'm trying to find all strings matching a pattern. How do I do that?   • Facebook Connect Login redirecting in Chrome and Safari

    I am having a problem with Facebook Connect that I can't seem to get my head around. A user clicks on the fb-login button, the pop up appears and they authenticate, the pop up closes and the on-login function is called. This happens in IE and Firefox as is expected. However in Chrome and Safari, the pop up redirects to the canvas url and doesn't close. Also the on-login function isn't called. I have googled and it seems to be something to do with the xd-receiver.htm file, however it seems weird that it is working in IE and Firefox but not Chrome or Safari. Any ideas? EDIT: After a bit more playing around it turned out that I didn't have my base domain set in Facebook settings. Why it works in some browsers and not others beats me, however it works now.   • Query.fetch(limit=2000) only moves cursor forward by 1000 entities?

    Let's say I have 2500 MyModel entities in my datastore, and I run this code: query = MyModel.all() first_batch = query.fetch(2000) len(first_batch) # 2000 next_query = MyModel.all().with_cursor(query.cursor()) next_batch = next_query.fetch(2000) What do you think len(next_batch) is? 500, right? Nope - it's 1500. Apparently the query cursor never moves forward by more than 1000, even when the query itself returns more than 1000 entities. Should I do something different or is it just an App Engine bug?

  • App Engine: Launching a script upon update/run

    Hi all. I'm working with App Engine and I'm thinking about using the LESS CSS extension in my next project. There's no good LESS CSS library written in Python so I went on with the original Ruby one which works great and out of the box. I'd like App Engine to execute lessc ./templates/css/style.less before running the development server and before uploading the files to the cloud. What is the best way to automate this? I'm thinking: #run.sh: lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/dev_appserver.py --use_sqlite . And #deploy.sh lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/appcfg.py update . Am I on the correct path or is there a more elegant way of doing things, perhaps at the appcfg.py level? Thanks.
