  • Database: Storing Dates as Numeric Values

    I'm considering storing some date values as ints. i.e 201003150900 Excepting the fact that I lose any timezone information, is there anything else I should be concerned about with his solution? Any queries using this column would be simple 'where after or before' type lookups. i.e Where datefield is less than 201103000000 (before March next year). currently the app is using MSSQL2005. Any pointers to pitfalls appreciated.

After installing the addin one of the user's outlook crashes when a contact is opened, i.e, when ItemProperties of the contact are read.Some theses properties are read using MAPI.There is no exception being logged even though we have try/catch and logging in all methods. I discovered the following resource on maxmind: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/api/php/timezone/ I suspect that I could use this with another api that provides the state that an area code belongs to.   • Best way for user authentication on JavaEE 6 using JSF 2.0?

    I'm wondering what the current state of art recommendation is regarding user authentication for a web application making use of JSF 2.0 (and if any components do exist) and JEE6 core mechanisms (login/check permissions/logouts) with user information hold in a JPA entity. The Sun tutorial is a bit sparse on this (only handles servlets). This is without making use of a whole other framework, like Spring-Security (acegi), or Seam, but trying to stick hopefully with the new Java EE 6 platform (web profile) if possible. Thanks, Niko

    Hi, I'm trying to run tinyMCE texteditor in ASP.NET 2.0 + 3.5 but I get the following error in my web.config file.. An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to '###\Visual Studio 2005\WebSites\TinyMCE\tinymce\jscripts\tiny_mce\langs' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform. Any ideas how to solve this?

However, as for my purposes it's not adequate to load the contents lazily, I have the following question: How can I create an object hierarchy (of, say, the custom FileOrDirectory class with the standard children,count,isLeaf attributes) from the information I load from the enumeratorAtURL: method? I need to load this data beforehand, and show it in an outline view, for my purposes.

However, I need to set the primary key as username, date (to ensure that there cannot be a duplicate username with a date).     I have a List like "test", "bla", "something", "else" But when I use the Aggrate on it and in the mean time call a function it seems to me that after 2 'iterations' the result of the first gets passed in? I am using it like : myList.Aggregate((current, next) => someMethod(current) + ", "+ someMethod(next)); and while I put a breakpoint in the someMethod function where some transformation on the information in the myList occurs, I notice that after the 3rd call I get a result from a former transformation as input paramter.

Let's imagine a document like this: { name: 'John Blank', yearOfBirth: 1960 } Later, in a new version, this structure is refactored to { firstname: 'John', lastname: 'Blank', yearOfBirth: 1960 } How do you do this with Document-Oriented databases? Do you have to prepare merge-scripts, that alter all your entries in the database? Or are there better ways you can handle changes in the structure?

  • asp.net web app - writing data to access or error logs?

    I'm looking for a quick way to log some data - I seem to remember a way to write to the access log, similar to System.Out.Println() but I can't seem to remember how to do it. I can't attach a debugger, nor can I add additional information to the web app via Response.Write(). Is there a simple way - a single statement with no configuration changes would be ideal - to write to either the error or access logs?
