  This is as much a software than a hardware question. I use a lot of public transport and perhaps the best way to spend your time there is to read while listening to music. Currently I use Nokia E90 and Adobe Reader LE 2.5 (full version). I was wondering if there are any better alternatives? Requirements: at least 640px wide screen, preferably 800px physical size of the LCD display matters, it should be large, but the phone itself should be as small as possible. This favors touchscreen models PDF reader should be of high quality. It should render most PDFs correctly. Other important features include: full screen mode, keyboard controls for Page Down and page change, multiple zoom levels to adjust to the screen, opening recent documents at the last page read Downsides of E90 + Adobe Reader LE Phone is large compared to the display It is hard to read the display at sunlight Adobe Reader crashes the phone regularly, zoom could have more levels, doesn't remember last page EDIT: Switched to iPhone and GoodReader. Smaller physical screen width compared to E90 is a disimprovement, but other than that I'm happy. GoodReader is the highest quality smartphone PDF reader I've seen so far.

  just started using Ubuntu (11.10 oneiric). It is running on a virtual machine. I used to use SuSE. However, SuSE is now with Novel, which goes hand in hand with Microsoft. So now shifted to Ubuntu. For documentation I use LaTeX and installed a package. This package uses a pre-processer (it is called "mal"). I ran the textconfig rehash command as required, but when I try to run the program, I get a "program not found" error. I am guessing that it is not in my path. (a sudo did not help) Any idea?

  What's the best way to give the end-user of my web application the ability to open, edit and save (via browser) word documents that are stored in my database? I have this working by doing an html conversion of the file (via Aspose Words) but this method seems not even close to flawless and i'm trying to improve this. Is integrating with google docs possible/good? Their edition seems awesome and very powerful. I can't use any Microsoft Word objects (and this is even discouraged by MS). EDIT: The application is developed in .NET and currently uses the .NET framework 2.0. However, as this is fairly obsolete the idea is to restart from scratch and therefore use the 4.0 framework and C# or VB.

  Tuesday evening I found myself minus family. I decided to use the time to “have a crack at this Silverlight Phone 7 stuff”. From zero (no experience, no tools installed, no membership on the AppHub) to submitted for approval took me from 8pm to 1am – with the last hour messing around with png files in Paint to complete the submission process! Two days later on Thursday it was approved and is now in the marketplace for you to install - or not :-) The application is very simple but it works and looks “finished” – and importantly I learnt a lot about what is involved and the power of our tooling to make this pretty easy to get going. Go on, give it a go by popping over to the App Hub. You do need to pay $99 to join the App Hub to publish but you can start by downloading the free tools and just work with the included emulator.   So I installed Ubuntu 12.04, I'm very new at this and want to get into the world of Linux but have run into nothing but problems. I have an Acer Aspire 5553g. First off, my keyboard won't work. Second, my computer has more than enough of everything to run Ubuntu smoothly, but everything runs extremely slow. (You move the mouse and it gets there a few seconds later) It's to the point where I can't even use it and I really want to. I'm tired of Microsoft stuff and I've been looking at learning how to use Linux based operating systems for a while. Please send me some help to fix these issues and maybe some tips to help get me started. Thanks in advance chris

  Context: I've tried rubber gem, but that does not fulfill my requirements ( I needed to deploy on existing instance, so don't recommend me rubber) So, I followed this excellent tutorial http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15535140/installing-ruby-2-0-and-rails-4-0-0beta-on-aws-ec2 Now, I have ruby 2.0 and rails 4.0.0 running on AWS EC2. I successfully ran the server with RDS (mysql) as db and default webrick as server ( Using command rails server ) But, I've read that webrick is a development server and shouldn't be used at production. What I tried: I googled and came up with some alternatives. Capistrano Nginx / apache with passenger Passenger with Capistrano Unicorn Puma My Question: What exactly is capistrano / passenger ? Are they middleware to ease my deployment process ? I don't see any difficulty in doing rails server command. If they are just middleware, nginx with passenger and capistrano does not make any sense ? Why would I add a learning curve ( to learn nginx, passenger and capistrano configs) just to run my server ? I can just use nginx to deploy my app. Can't I ? What combination should I use on Amazon EC2 (or may be at any some other production server).

• XNA Drag Gestures - fractional delta values

  I have an issue with objects moving roughly twice as far as expected when dragging them. I am comparing my application to the standard TouchGestureSample sample from MSDN. For some reason in my application gesture samples have fractional positions and deltas. Both are using same Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Input.Touch.dll, v4.0.30319. I am running both apps using standard Windows Phone Emulator. I am setting my break point immediately after this line of code in a simple Update method: GestureSample gesture = TouchPanel.ReadGesture(); Typical values in my app: Delta = {X:-13.56522 Y:4.166667} Position = {X:184.6956 Y:417.7083} Typical values in sample app: Delta = {X:7 Y:16} Position = {X:497 Y:244} Have anyone seen this issue?   Customers used to complain that the tooling for creating BI projects (Analysis Services MD and Tabular, Reporting Services, and Integration services) has been based on earlier versions of Visual Studio than the ones they were using for their other work in Visual Studio (such as C#, VB, and ASP.NET projects). To alleviate that problem, the shipment of those tools has been decoupled from the shipment of the SQL Server product. In SQL Server 2014, the BI tooling isn’t even included in the released version of SQL Server. This allows the team to keep up-to-date with the releases of Visual Studio. A little while back, I was really pleased to see that the Visual Studio 2013 update for SSDT-BI (SQL Server Data Tools for Business Intelligence) had been released. • Testing what is happening inside your BizTalk solution

  As BizTalk developers we all know that one of the common challenges is how to test your BizTalk solution once it is deployed to BizTalk. Hopefully most of us are using the BizUnit framework for testing, but we still have the limitation that it's a very Black Box test. I have put together a sample and video to show a technique where I'm using the Logging Framework from the BizTalk CAT Team at Microsoft and where by BizUnit test is able to make assertions against the instrumentation going through the framework. This means that I can test for things happening such as the fact a component was executed or which branch of an orchestration was executed by simply using my normal instrumented code.
