How to fix winlogon.exe randomly crashing/hanging my computer?

I've got these problems: 1) sometimes winlogon.exe crashes at boot-up and my whole computer shuts off once i click "no" to visual-studio-2008 just-in-time-debugger window, takes about 30 secs until my harddrives starts up again, its really scary, i am afraid it is causing hardware malfunctions in long term. this has happened dozen of time now. 2) sometimes i leave the computer alone a while, i come back and i notice ctrl+alt+del doesnt work and winlogon.exe is using 100% of one of my 4 cores.

Duplicate of IPSEC certificate template not displaying

I am working on getting IPSEC working on computers outside my domain. I am unable to get a duplicate of the IPSec Offline Request template to show on the web interface. My CA is 2008 R2 Enterprise and the permissions on the template should be adequate to allow me access (my account has read and enroll). If I publish the original template it functions as desired. I also have other custom templates in use (although using autoenrollment). The duplicate is almost identical to the original, excepting that it has a longer validity period and the private key is marked as exportable. How do I debug at this point?

I used windirstat which tells you how much data a folder is holding but i still cant figure out the problem. I did notice a folder holding 1.7gb for visual studio's intellitrack (or whatever that thing is called)

Why do firewire drives on Mac OS cause processes to go into uninterruptible wait?

I have a Western Digital My Passport Studio external hard drive. It works with either Firewire 800 or USB 2.0. I've noticed that when I have it connected to Firewire, after a few hours, processes on my Mac start to go into an uninterruptible wait state. Eventually the system becomes so hard locked that I can't even shut it down. I have Spotlight indexing of the drive disabled, and the mds process seems to be the one that triggers this eventual system collapse.

Ubuntu 9.1 runs quite slugglish on my old laptop from 2004. Slower than Windows XP that was on there. It has 512mb RAM and probably 1.2ghz (can't remember) CPU. I have turned off Visual Effects under Appearance Preferences. Are there any other tricks to get better performance, or do I just need a better computer to try Ubuntu? Thanks

I usually work with a lot of instances of visual studio open to different projects, I was wondering if there is a way to snapshot/hibernate a running process to disk instead of closing it so that I can open it in the same state as it was quickly. I have a ton of free disk space so wouldn't mind saving the entire process snapshot if it would save me the time in opening up the solution and waiting for the projects to load.

Script to restart server when no user is remotely connected

I'm looking for something special : here is a windows server that is used for development by 4/5 people remotely working on it through remote control. I'm installing Visual Studio 2010 on it, and the installation won't continue until the server has been restarted. I'm looking for a way to reboot when the server is idle (when nobody is connected through remote desktop on it) so that the reboot doesn't bug anyone. Is there some software that can do that ? i7 4770k or i7 4930k - Which for faster compile times? [on hold]

I've looked up comparisons and found that single core performance seems to be better on i7 4770k, but has less cores that the i7 4930k. Would VS take advantage of extra cores when compiling, or would the difference be negible. I'm looking to buy the PC primarily for programming, so which would be better for visual studio? I need a way of syncing this DB to mysql that lives on a NAS on the same network: Local: DB Engine on server, named, server\sqlexpress and IP = 10.0.0.201 Target: DB on NAS, named, CISCO-NAS and IP = 10.0.0.182 Will need for this to sync every few mins... I turned off the visual effects on my laptop (system-preferences-appearance), and since then I can't switch between my desktops using the mouse wheel (but I can with key combination). While the effects was on, it worked. Does someone know why is this? Can this be a problem with some driver?

I am attempting to add highslide-with-html.js from http://highslide.com/ to my masterpage. I am receiving a 403 forbidden error when I use the provided masterpage. How to debug manifest errors?

I am creating an application that depends on third-party library, which in turn depends on MSVCP90D.dll (it was compiled with debug symbols). While starting the application it fails to start and provides an error message: I have found such library in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\Debug_NonRedist\amd64\Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT and C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\Debug_NonRedist\x86\Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT. As you can see one of them is 64-bit, while the other is 32-bit. When I have placed 32-bit into the directory of the application the application silently crashes while loading (log from Visual Studio Output window is below). With the 32-bit one I get another error message: If I press Abort -- programs shuts down, Retry results in breaking into debug session for crt0msg.c file. This is system file and I have no idea how to debug it. If I press Ignore I get yet another error message: So the question is how to debug such errors? Please give me some links where I can read more about it or point me out what exactly I should do in such cases. I know this relates to manifest problems -- please give me a good resource where I can read about resources, since what I have found have confused me even more. Firefox not running jQuery for XHTML output

Okay, I did a crappy job of describing the issue in my previous post. I think the discussion got sidetracked from the core issue - so I'm going to try again. Mea Culpa to Elzo Valugi about the aforementioned thread. I have an XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="wtf.xsl"?> <Paragraphs> <Paragraph>Hi</Paragraph> </Paragraphs> Simple enough. When I run this in Internet Explorer, I get the alert 'Hiya!' as well as the expected: Hi Hello but when I run it in Firefox (3.0.1), I still get the alert, but the jQuery does not insert the paragraph into the DOM, and I just get this: Hi If I change the stylesheet to method="html" it works fine, and I get (along with the alert): Hi Hello Why doesn't Firefox run the jQuery with an XHTML document? Has anyone any experience with this problem? EDIT: ADDITIONAL INFO I can successfully insert elements into the documents this way in Firefox (method="xml"): var frag = document.createDocumentFragment(); var p = document.createElement('p'); p.appendChild(document.createTextNode('Ipsum Lorem')); frag.appendChild(p); $('body').append(frag); but I'm running into a similar problem with the .remove() method. It is looking more and more that Firefox doesn't construct a DOM from XML that jQuery can relate to, or somesuch.

XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if so please tell me. Regards, Anders
