  • How can i have a div stuck on the left side of the page no matter how much i scroll horizontally?

    - by Noor
    This is kind of difficult to explain so ill link to a page that has the effect i need; http://wpaoli.building58.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/feedback-panel.html The feedback thing on the left side is what im trying to implement on my side, instead of feedback im going to use it as a navigation menu that shows up when clicked on. the things above is what i have right now. my problem is when i scroll to the right ( my page is around 6000px wide ) i want it to stay on the left side, is there a way to pull this off? (this is to much for my brain to handle)..thanks!

  • Custom Alignment and Backgrounds Through Greasemonkey

    - by Jivec
    I'm trying to implement something in greasemonkey and it is giving me a fair bit of trouble as I can't get it to work. I frequently use Wolfram Alpha (http://wolframalpha.com) for a lot of things. They have recently updated the home page with a new style. There are settings that you can edit on this page (http://www.wolframalpha.com/homesettings.html) As you would expect when you clear cookies you loose these settings. What I would like to do is have a greasemonky script that sets the background to what ever I like (which will stay also regardless of the state of your cookies). It would also be cool if this background was displayed the whole way through Wolfram Alpha (ie when you make queries too eg. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=stack+overflow ) The other thing I'm trying to implement but I'm struggling is to force the results pages to be left aligned so that the browser window can be smaller. If anyone could help me with this it would be appreciated, I have tried to do it my self but I'm unsure how to get it to work.

  • Checking for Value in JS Object

    - by pagewil
    I have a JS Object like so: var ob{ 1 : { id:101, name:'john', email:'[email protected]' }, 2 : { id:102, name:'jim', email:'[email protected]' }, 3 : { id:103, name:'bob', email:'[email protected]' }, } I want to check if this JS object already contains a record. If it doesn't then I want to add it. For example. if(ob contains an id of 101){ //don't add john }else{ //add john } Catch my drift? Pretty simple question. I just want to know the best way of doing it. Thanks Guys! W.

  • how to make sure the non disclosure agreement is read

    - by Xin Qian Ch'ang
    Every time a user registers to our site we need to show a non-disclosure agreement. In order to continue the user has to accept it. My issue is that I have the NDA in all one page and the user does not really read it and accept (like we all do). What I want is to make sure the user reads the NDA and accepts it one he "read" it? What I have now is a simple jqeury validation if the user checks a box and click on accept. then it goes to the next page. Here's what i have <script> $(document).ready(function() { $('#go').click(function() { // check if checkbox is check and go to next page }); }); </script> <div> full nda <hr> <input type=checkbox> <input type=button value=go id=go> </div> Thanks

  • How can you get a list or traversable tree of bookmarks from within a Firefox Extension?

    - by Nathan
    I am working on a simple Firefox Extension, and I need a list of the user's bookmarks. I have found the nsINavBookmarksService class which appears to be the recommended way of manipulating bookmarks since Firefox 3.0. Strangely I don't see a method that I could use to get a list of all the bookmarks in a folder. I need some way of creating a flat list of all the Bookmark URIs, but without any methods that return information about more than one bookmark I don't see a way to do it.

  • Changing document.domain to completely other domain

    - by Sergej Andrejev
    I'm trying to prove that changing document.domain can be used only for cross scripting on the same upper level domain. For example if i will try to change document.domain to "google.com" on page which is located on www.test.com I will get a security exception in FF. Does anybody know where to locate an official proof of that?

  • Interesting interview question. .Net

    - by rahul
    Coding Problem NumTrans There is an integer K. You are allowed to add to K any of its divisors not equal to 1and K. The same operation can be applied to the resulting number and so on. Notice that starting from the number 4, we can reach any composite number by applying several such operations. For example, the number 24 can be reached starting from 4 using 5 operations: 468121824 You will solve a more general problem. Given integers n and m, return the minimal number of the described operations necessary to transform n into m. Return -1 if m can't be obtained from n. Definition Method signature: int GetLeastCount (int n, int m) Constraints N will be between 4 and 100000, inclusive. M will be between N and 100000, inclusive. Examples 1) 4 576 Returns: 14 The shortest order of operations is: 468121827365481108162243324432576 2) 8748 83462 Returns: 10 The shortest order of operations is: 874813122196832624439366590497873283106834488346083462 3) 4 99991 Returns: -1 The number 99991 can't be obtained because it’s prime!

  • Pass variables to current tab via chrome extension

    - by iamthejeff
    I am writing my first chrome extension, and I want to pass a variable to the currently opened tab and manipulate the DOM with it. My extension has a button, and when clicked, is executing this code: chrome.tabs.getSelected(null, function(tab) { chrome.tabs.executeScript(tab.id, { file: 'tabscript.js' }); }); This works fine, but I see no way to pass a variable to tabscript.js so it can be used on the opened tab.

  • Get and Set a Single Cookie with Node.js HTTP Server

    - by Corey Hart
    I want to be able to set a single cookie, and read that single cookie with each request made to the nodejs server instance. Can it be done in a few lines of code, without the need to pull in a third party lib? var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function (request, response) { response.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'}); response.end('Hello World\n'); }).listen(8124); console.log('Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8124/'); Just trying to take the above code directly from nodejs.org, and work a cookie into it.

  • Another IE Issue with AJAX

    - by Nik
    Alright, This code works in every browser except IE (again, to be expected). The code is supposed to refresh based on setInterval, and does so normally in all other browsers except IE, which just doesn't refresh. Can you spot the problem? var nick = document.getElementById("chatnick").value; var sessid = document.getElementById("sessid").value; var room = document.getElementById("roomid").value; function user_read() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "u", room: room}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { $("#userwindow").html(data); setTimeout(user_read, 10000); } }); } function ajax_read() { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "r", room: room}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { $("#chatwindow").html(data); setTimeout(ajax_read, 400); } }); } function submit_msg() { var msg = document.getElementById("chatmsg").value; $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "methods.php", data: {method: "w", room: room, m: msg, n: nick, sessid: sessid}, dataType: "html", success: function (data, status, xhr) { } }); document.getElementById("chatmsg").value = ""; } function keyup(arg1) { if (arg1 == 13) submit_msg(); } setTimeout(function(){ajax_read();}, 400); user_read();

  • innerHTML in IE?

    - by froufrou
    I'm having trouble using innerHTML with my radio type button. <table align="center"> <div class='main'> <span id="js" class='info'> <label><input type="radio" name="js" value="0" size="<?php echo $row['size']; ?>" onclick="js(this.value, this.size);" /><img src="arrowup.png"/></label> <br /> <label><input type="radio" name="js" value="1" size="<?php echo $row['size']; ?>" onclick="js(this.value, this.size);" /><img src="arrowdown.png"/></label> </span> </div> </table> My .js looks like this: var xmlhttp; function getVote(a,b) { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request"); return; } var url="js.php"; url=url+"?js="+a; url=url+"&id="+b; url=url+"&sid="+Math.random(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); xmlhttp.send(null); } function stateChanged() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("js").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { var objXMLHttp=null; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { objXMLHttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { objXMLHttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return objXMLHttp; } This doesn't work in IE only!   • What is the best way to limit text input entry to numbers, lowercase letters, and certain symbols?

    - by Adam Maras
    Without using jQuery, what is the best way to limit text entry of a textbox to numbers, lowercase letters and a given set of symbols (for example - and _)? If the user enters an uppercase letter, I would like it to be automatically converted to a lowercase letter, and if the user enters a symbol not within the given set, I would like to be able to instantly show a validation error (show some element adjacent to or below the text box). What's the cleanest cross-browser way of doing this without the aid of jQuery?
