• Getting URLs from search results

  After 1 months research I basically give up on getting all URL's from a search results programmatically, I looked at Google Search API to find a way to get millions of search results "URL's" to be specific to a text file or something relative but no success, but I am 100% there must be a way or trick of doing it. Real Question : Is there anyway programmatically or manually I can get 1000+ search results (URLs using search query e.g. "Apple" returns million of results on google and I want as much as possible URLs of them results in a text file) Note : Don't care for any specific search engine or programming language or technique or software or just point me to right direction, but yeah I tried it with google API i can't get more then 100 results at all.

• Ubuntu 12.04 ATI 6450

  Right now my video card isn't responding after the Ubuntu Logo is shown, (I see a black screen and that's it) I have installed ubuntu 12.04 AMD64 and if I remove the video card and use the VGA from the MOBO then I can use it with no problems, other data: 4 GB of ram 1333 500 GB WD AMD APU A6 3500 2,1 GHZ I forgot a couple of details, everything was working great until last night, when the light went off (I don't know if I'm explaining myself I'm from Argentina and english isn't my first language there was a power cut I meant) and then when it got back I used my pc until I went to bed (after upgrading) and this morning, when I woke up I had this problem for breakfast, I've been reading a little and I had a similar problem before and fixed it, but it was a system problem, a missing package or something, I don't remember, but here the only issue is that the video card doesn't give me image after the ubuntu logo.

  While I agree that catching ... without rethrowing is indeed wrong, I however believe that using constructs like this: try { // Stuff } catch (...) { // Some cleanup throw; } Is acceptable in cases where RAII is not applicable. (Please, don't ask... not everybody in my company likes object-oriented programming and RAII is often seen as "useless school stuff"...) My coworkers says that you should always know what exceptions are to be thrown and that you can always use constructs like: try { // Stuff } catch (exception_type1&) { // Some cleanup throw; } catch (exception_type2&) { // Some cleanup throw; } catch (exception_type3&) { // Some cleanup throw; } Is there a well admited good practice regarding these situations?

  Alright, I think it's a simple question, but I got difficulties to find some answers around. I already read that XNA wouldn't be in Visual Studio 2012. I recently learned to use XNA, but since I would like to work on games, I'd like to know if there's a way to develop games using C# on Visual Studio 2012, or if I should learn everything again using C++ and Direct3D? C# is a language I like a lot, so if there's no way to do it in C# but something quite easy to use Java for game development, I'd also be interested. Thanks a lot!

  I'm writing blog at Wordpress, and bought Domain park for it for a shorter web address for my readers who I redirect to my blog. Yesterday there was a first time message titled "Account Suspended due to registration information verification failure". I've never changed my contact information at my Web Host, and my contact Information has not been changed. I have Fan page on Facebook too, that my readers' could follow my blog easier, and there was same kind of message on my Facebook site too. Can you tell me, what's going on? I've not been broking any terms of use at my host, and writing good language on my blog. I think it's a some kind of hacker -thing? Is there nothing else to do than contact my web host that they can fix the problem? Can they? I Contacted last night my host, but got no answer yet.

I know that for some programming career paths this would be impossible to do, so I'm looking for comments or advice about the best way to achieve this. • How do you stay motivated for hobby projects? [closed]

  I started seriously programming as a hobbiest, student and then intern about 4 years ago and I've always done small projects on the side as a learning exercise. Schools over now though, and I spend my days at work as a software developer. I would still love to do projects on the side to learn about areas in computer science that I'm not exposed to at work, but I've noticed that after 8 hours of starring at an IDE it's far to tempting to veg out. Any time I do get up the gumption to work on something for a few hours lately it's gotten left by the wayside. Anyone have any advice for sticking with side projects when you spend most of your day coding?

• How do you deal with monotony of certain tasks? [on hold]

  I love programming methods, and functions. The if {}, while {}, etc... logic behind them is so much fun. I also love making commits, merging branches, solving merge conflicts. Unfortunately these activities usually require that I create classes which I find tedious and monotonous. The simple action of defining properties, is getting in the way of me writing the logic on what to do with those properties. I can't be alone here there has to be a part of coding for everyone that they dread or at least severely dislike doing compared to other parts of coding. How do you deal with the code based tasks that you find tedious?

• Do games use threads?

  I understand that the concept of how a game runs i.e while (game_loop = true) { //handle events // input/output/sound etc } But it has come to my attention while programming in another HLL is do some games use threads for certain operations? For example take any Pokemon game ; during interaction a textbox appears to display information. Now I've been trying to simulate that sort of textbox and the only way I could have got it to be exactly the same is by using a loop and yes once a loop is started there is no way to handle window events unless they are handled again inside the loop itself. I couldn't have used this loop inside a different thread other than the main one (due to a DirectX limitation) so the only option was to use it inside the main program thread. I was wondering if some games work like this ; do they only use the main program thread and handle events again if they're inside a loop? Edit: I forgot to mention this is about console games not PC games! Thanks Nubcake

  I've been working with PHP, MySQL, and some html for the past 3-4 years now just as a hobby. I'm only 19 and college is going to come soon, I want to go for Web and Software development and/or Network Security and Administration, I know the networking is a whole different ballpark, but as for programming, which languages do you suggest I get under my belt before college? I was thinking the C languages (C++, C#), Java, .NET; Should I learn any more Server Side Scripting languages? Python, Perl, Ruby? I used to be somewhat familiar with writing Java, but haven't written in Java in a good while, what would you suggest? Thanks!

I have been learning to program myself since the age of 9, and I believe I have reached the level where I am ready to do something more ambitious, as opposed to the little scripts and personal web design I do at the moment. So of course like any other I googled it, got discouraged and forgot about it for a few months. When I was 13 I decided to continue programming, and decided that java would best suit me. Now after a year, I have a basic understanding of java and how it works (it just clicked instantly one day). Anyways, my problem is that I know how I'm going to make a simple game in my head, but as soon as I click that "New Project" button on eclipse, I'm instantly lost and can't figure out where to start. • "main.exe" Has Crashed Error [migrated]

  I have a programming project due today and I am having a simple error. The project is to create a skeleton of a basic menu. The new command just counts from 1 to an integer entered by the user. Before I continue, I have posted a link to the pastebin that holds my .cpp file: http://pastebin.com/pAi9EiEi The rest of the program runs and works. However, the error is simple. It is crashing as soon as I type in any of the commands. After running error checks, I have found the error is not the while but the if statements. The error is on the lines similar to this: if (stricmp(strstr(newCommand, cmd2), newCommand) == 0) What this line is supposed to do, is copy what is in cmd2 and put it in newCommand then comparing it without caps sensitivity to: char newCommand[] = "new"; Thank you, Rux

• export google search results to excel [closed]

  I want to make a program/script that will be able to take the data from the excel spreadsheet in column A (for example, "team 123") and search Google and take the first 3 results from Google and put the data into the excel spreadsheet. I don't have that much experience in programming. So what language should I use? I know I have to use REST in the Google custom search API- how would I incorporate this? This might have been done before but all I've been able to find is scripts on how to export all the search results or the number of search results, not the first 3 search results. Thanks. • iPhone: didSelectRowAtIndexPath not invoked

  Hi, I know this issue being mentioned before, but resolutions there didn't apply. I'm having a UINavigationController with an embedded UITableViewController set up using IB. In IB the UITableView's delegate and dataSource are both set to my derivation of UITableViewController. This class has been added using XCode's templates for UITableViewController classes. There is no custom UITableViewCell and the table view is using default plain style with single title, only. Well, in simulator the list is rendered properly, with two elements provided by dataSource, so dataSource is linked properly. If I remove the outlet link for dataSource in IB, an empty table is rendered instead. As soon as I tap on one of these two items, it is flashing blue and the GDB encounters interruption in __forwarding__ in scope of a UITableView::_selectRowAtIndexPath. It's not reaching breakpoint set in my non-empty method didSelectRowIndexPath. I checked the arguments and method's name to exclude typos resulting in different selector. I recently didn't succeed in whether delegate is set properly, but as it is set equivalently to dataSource which is getting two elements from the same class, I expect it to be set properly. So, what's wrong? I'm running iPhone/iPad SDK 3.1.2 ... but tried with iPhone SDK 3.1 in simulator as well. • Info on UIDeviceFamily key in Info.plist

  The iPad programming guide says I have to include the UIDeviceFamily key in Info.plist. It also says that the transitioning a target to iPad should have added the key. It didn't. I tried creating blank projects, both iPad-only and universal, and neither got that key. Google comes up short too. What's the story on this mysterious key? The simulator doesn't mind the fact it's missing.
