  • Log errors in a file

    - by Konstantin
How do I log all process crashes into a file instead of a tty ? I've read in the documentation that there are some standard Erlang modules that can do it (SASL, error_logger), but unfortunately haven't found any clean examples.

  • Replacement for vsscanf on msvc

    - by ext
Hi, I've run into an issue porting a codebase from linux (gcc) to windows (msvc). It seems like the C99 function vsscanf isn't available and has no obvious replacement. I've read about a solution using the internal function _input_l and linking statically to the crt runtime, but unfortunately I cannot link statically since it would mess with all the plugins (as dlls) being loaded by the application. So is there any replacement or a way to write a wrapper for vsscanf?

  • Should I use Call keyword in VB/VBA?

    - by Fred Loyant
I use the Call keyword used when calling subs in VB/VBA. I know it's optional, but is it better to use it or leave it off? I've always thought it was more explicit, but maybe it's just noise. Also, I read this on another forum: Using the Call keyword is faster because it knows that it is not going to return any values, so it doesn't need to set up any stackspace to make room for the return value.

  • .DS_Store valid in Leopard and Snow Leopard

    - by madmw
Scripts to generate a DMG image disk for mac usually copy a .DS_Store file with folder customizations (icons sizes, positions, image background, etc.) You customize a read/write copy of the DMG, then copy the .DS_Store and use it to automate the DMG generation. It seems .DS_Store made in Leopard doesn't work in Snow Leopard and viceversa. A DMG created in Snow Leopard won't show the background image in Leopard. Is there a way to made a .DS_Store file that works in both OSX?

  • Retain information in cocoa?

    - by happyCoding25
Hello, I'm still new to cocoa and don't know much about memory management. I read up on apples documentation but I'm still confused. My question is if I set the value of a variable in a - (void)dowhatever when the void ends, will the contents of the variable be erased? If so is there a method (without writing to a file) that I can use to retain the variable contents? Thanks for any help

  • SSIS DTS Package flat file error - "The file name specified in the connection was not valid"

    - by MisterZimbu
I have a pretty basic SSIS package that is attempting to read a file hosted on a share, and import its contents to a database table. The package runs fine when I run it manually within SSIS. However, when I set up a SQL Agent job and attempt to execute it, I get the following error: Executed as user: DOMAIN\UserName. Microsoft (R) SQL Server Execute Package Utility Version 9.00.3042.00 for 64-bit Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1984-2005. All rights reserved. Started: 10:14:17 AM Error: 2010-05-03 10:14:17.75 Code: 0xC001401E Source: DataImport Connection manager "Data File Local" Description: The file name "\10.1.1.159\llpf\datafile.dat" specified in the connection was not valid. End Error Error: 2010-05-03 10:14:17.75 Code: 0xC001401D Source: DataAnimalImport Description: Connection "Data File Local" failed validation. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 10:14:17 AM Finished: 10:14:17 AM Elapsed: 0.594 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. This leads me to believe it's a permissions issue, but every attempt I've made to fix it has failed. What I've tried so far: Run as the SQL Agent account (DOMAIN\SqlAgent) - yields same error. DOMAIN\SqlAgent has "Full Control" permissions on both the share and the uploaded file. Set up a proxy account with a different account's credentials (DOMAIN\Account) - yields same error. Like above, "Full Control" permissions were given over the share to that account. Gave "Everyone" full control permissions over the share (temporarily!). Yielded same error. Manually copied the file to a local path and tested with the SQL Agent account. Worked properly. Added an ActiveX script task that would first copy the remotely hosted file to a local path, and then have the DTS package reference the local file. Gave a completely nondescriptive (even by SSIS standards) error when trying to run the script. Set up a proxy account, using my own personal account's credentials - worked correctly. However, this is not an acceptable solution as there are password policies in place on my account, as well as being a bad practice to set things up this way in general. Any ideas? I'm still convinced it's a permissions issue. However, what I've read from various searches more or less says giving the executing account permissions on the share should work. However, this is not the case here (unless I'm missing something obscure when I'm setting up permissions on the share).

  • What's a regular language?

    - by Javier Badia
I've read that you can't parse HTML with regular expressions because HTML is not a regular language. I tried searching Wikipedia, but I didn't understand a word of what the various related articles said. Can someone explain, in simpler terms, what's a regular (or non-regular) language, and why non-regular languages can't be parsed with regexes?

  • getAudioInputStream can not convert [stereo, 4 bytes/frame] stream to [mono, 2 bytes/frame]

    - by brian_d
Hello. I am using javasound and have an AudioInputStream of format PCM_SIGNED 8000.0 Hz, 16 bit, stereo, 4 bytes/frame, little-endian Using AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(target_format, original_stream) produces an 'IllegalArgumentException: Unsupported Conversion' when the target_format is PCM_SIGNED 8000.0 Hz, 16 bit, mono, 2 bytes/frame, little-endian Is it possible to convert this stream manually after every read() call? And if yes, how? In general, how can you compare two formats and tell if a conversion is possible?

  • Setting up web page width

    - by RPK
I am new to web-design. I want to set the page-width so that it appears well in a 800x600 resolution screen. I normally use Tables but I read somewhere that excessive use of Tables slows the performance of the website. What other thing I can use and how to set the width?

  • Android adding external libraries to project

    - by wuntee
I have a project that I would like to add external libraries to (and have them packaged with the application) but I am not sure it is happening. I read on this link: http://developer.android.com/intl/fr/guide/appendix/faq/commontasks.html how to, but they do not show up in any of the /data/data/project directories. Does anyone know how I can confirm that the libraries were in fact added to the project for use at runtime? Thanks.

  • Does SharpSVN have an API to manage repository permissions

    - by Troy Hunt
Does anyone know if there is any API exposed to manage repository permissions within SharpSVN? For example, programatically adding read and write permissions on a per repository basis. Alternatively, any other thoughts on managing permissions with other SVN APIs? Worst case wil be manually managing the contents of svnaccessfile but this is a last resort. Thanks.

  • Listing available COM Objects with Powershell

    - by outtacontrol
I am currently using the following script to list the available COM Objects on my machine. $path = "REGISTRY::HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\*\PROGID" foreach ($obj in dir $path) { write-host $obj.GetValue("") } I read on another website that the existence of the InProcServer32 key is evidence that the object is 64 bit compatible. So using powershell how can I determine the existence of InProcServer32 for each COM Object? If that is even the correct way of establishing whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit.

  • How to 'assign' a value to an output reg in Verilog?

    - by Rafael Almeida
( insert really basic question disclaimer here ) More specifically, I have the following declaration: output reg icache_ram_rw And in some point of the code I need to put the zero value in this reg. Here's what I've tried and the outcomes: assign icache_ram_rw = 1'b0; ( declarative lvalue or port sink reg icache_ram_rw must be a wire ) icache_ram_rw <= 1'b0; ( instance gate/name for type "icache_ram_rw" expected - <= read ) How do I do it after all?!

  • JSON is used only for JavaScript?

    - by Bob Smith
I am storing a JSON string in the database that represents a set of properties. In the code behind, I export it and use it for some custom logic. Essentially, I am using it only as a storage mechanism. I understand XML is better suited for this but I read that JSON is faster and preferred. Is it a good practice to use JSON if the intention is not to use the string on the client side?

  • vector drawing canvas in GWT

    - by Limbic System
Are there are decent implementations of a vector graphics canvas in GWT? I would like to be draw arbitrary shapes and have them react to user input (mouse in/out/click/etc). There are wrappers for the HTML canvas, but that feature is not supported in older browsers (read: IE).

  • Difference between URI and URL

    - by Sarfraz
If you read the documentation of CodeIgniter or Kohana, there is a lot of confusion about the usage of URI and URL. Sometimes they use one and other times the other. They also incorporate URI class which makes it easier working with URLs. I know that: URI stands for Uniform Resource Identifier URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator But that doesn't make much sense. What exactly is the difference? or are they same?
