  We are planning to build a Web Based School/College ERP. The main problem we face is Hardware support. Since it is Web Based, it is not possible to implement Biometrics. But most of our clients do ask for Biometrics. I hope we need to use a desktop application to do that. Can you please give some suggestions for this? Another thing is, here we don't have stable internet connection. We frequently face disconnection. This is another problem for Web Based CRM. In HTML5 there is a feature called Offline storage. Is it possible to use this feature for such dynamic ERP? For example, let's say we need to enter marks for the students. Net got disconnected. Is it possible to use HTML5 offline feature to save the marks offline and upload them when we got connection back?

  I'm creating a MonoGame application on Visual Studio 2012, yet when trying to load a texture I get the following problem: Could not load Menu/btnPlay asset! I have set content directory: Content.RootDirectory = "Assets"; Also the file btnPlay.png has properties set: Build Action: Content and Copy to Output directory: Copy if newer. • How to calibrate Toshiba LED screen - the colours are over saturated

  I have purchased a new Toshiba Satellite C850-A812 laptop, with ATI Radeon HD 75xx series. When i first installed Ubuntu 12.04.1, the open source driver worked like a charm with the colors, i mean the colors were so vivid. However after installing the ATI proprietary driver from the repos, the colors went too "whity" and too bright. I even installed the updated driver, and went further to download the latest driver from ATI and install it in vain. I tried to use the ubuntu build in calibration tool, but it keeps on asking me to enter the ICC profile before i proceed to calibrate. I played with the catalyst control center, tried everything possible, but still the colors are still wayyyyyyyyy over exposed. Please advice :)

  I am using alestic.com ec2 Ubuntu instances now for some time and never had a problem with. Today I created a new Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise EBS boot on US-east-1, seems to be a bad build. While doing a sudo apt-get update it breaks and says: W: Failed to fetch bzip2:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/us-east-1.ec2.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_main_source_Sources Hash Sum mismatch This is on a fresh instance. So I recon something went wrong when creating it. What can be done to fix it?

• How would I go about implementing a globe-like "ballish" map?

  I am new to 3D development and I have this idea of having the game world like our globe is - a ball. So, there would be no corners in the map and the game is top-down RTS game. I would like the camera to go on and on and never stop even though you are moving the camera to the same direction all the time. I am not sure if this is even possible, but I would really like to build a globe-like map without borders. Can this be done, and how exactly? I am using XNA, C#, and DirectX. Any tutorials or links or help is greatly appreciated!

  I have installed Vmware Player 6.0.3 build-1895310. The problem I have is that when I run a Windows 7 Vm, it says that 3D support was disabled. (I can't read the exact report atm because it has a chance of crashing my machine.) I have the 3D support box enabled. Here is my graphics card: Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2. Can anyone tell me to install drivers or something? I can't find mine anywhere!

• Mouse wheel on Dell Vostro V13

  I have a Dell Vostro V13, which Canonical claim is "Certified" for Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/make/Dell/laptops). So it surprises me that the synaptics trackpad isn't recognised as such and defaults to psmouse emulation. This means no multitouch, no gestures, and more importantly, no mousewheel scrolling. Because it's not loading the synaptic driver, running gpointing-device-settings doesn't help. I've found this bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/380126 which suggests a fix has been committed, but I can't see a way of getting this loaded on my Maverick build. I've tried backports and proposed repos in synaptic, but no joy. Any ideas?

  I have to build a new website for my client.. and he needs this stuff: A user generated content website.. where users can upload their own videos.. (i will use a video hosting platform with api like fliqz.com) I must manage a big user system.. where users can create their own "sub-users"... the site must manage paid subscriptions and payments through paypal.. and other payment gateways... So the question is.. i have to use a pre-built CMS and extend it.. or just a good framework? I've been thinking about joomla, drupal and expressionengine... It's not neccesary to use a open source cms... I've looking at drupal.. but is not as easy to understand and extend... Can anyone help me to make a good decision?

  Which languages have compilers able to emit plain standard C/C++ code? For a start: Haxe // uses Boehm GC Haskell (JHC) Haskell (old GHC) // -fvia-c, removed recently (emitted code is super ugly) Clay ATS Cython RPython (Shed Skin) // experimental RPython (PyPy) Python (Nuitka) // although author claims there are no speedups Common Lisp (ECL) COBOL (OpenCobol) Scheme (Chicken) APL // So far I've not found working implementation available for free download Ur/Web // GCC-specific output, and intended to be used only for web developments (included for completeness only) I'd like to build comprehensive up-to-date list but found only these ones so far. I've tested only Haxe and it works pretty well and quite fast. What about other ones? What is your expirience? How much ugly is generated code? Update. Any language chains (e.g. X - Scheme - C) will be perfectly OK as answer if its use is practical enough and suited for production use.

  What I am trying to do. I want to be able to import heading, short description and an image into my website, just using a link. I am using Joomla but can switch to any CMS, or try to build an extension myself. The problem is I dont know where to look for example code, or what to look for. They each have their own Google Analytics to track individual stats.   I'm currently trying to make a case for adopting dependency management for builds (ala Maven, Ivy, NuGet) and creating an internal repository for shared modules, of which we have over a dozen enterprise wide. What are the primary selling points of this build technique? The ones I have so far: Eases the process of distributing and importing shared modules, especially version upgrades. Requires the dependencies of shared modules to be precisely documented. Removes shared modules from source control, speeding and simplifying checkouts/check ins (when you have applications with 20+ libraries this is a real factor). Allows more control or awareness of what third party libs are used in your organization. Are there any selling points that I'm missing? Are there any studies or articles giving improvement metrics?

• Handling optional GPL dependencies

  Assume I have a library A which is licensed under a two-clause Free BSD style license. Library A optionally depends on library B (the availability of the dependency is configured at build-time), which is licensed under the GPLv3. If I distribute both bundled together, the license will need to be GPL. But am I still able to distribute library A under the FreeBSD license? How do I indicate that the license changes, when the use of library B is enabled? Do I need to distribute two different versions or can I just have one that contains both licenses and states which applies under which conditions? Any example project I can have a look at to see it done?
