  So from the code below, I have managed to get the string *tempstring into an array chunk. Now chunk[0] contains 'a' while chunk[1] contains 'aa'. I am trying to format chunk[0] to '0a' which I can using the replaceObjectAtIndex method. Here's my question: How do I detect that chunk[0] is formatted as 'a' and not '0a'. I want to check all the indexes and make sure they have double digits and if not use a 0 to prefix it. I have a session variable $_SESSION["animals"] containing a deep json object with values: $_SESSION["animals"]='{ "0":{"kind":"mammal","name":"Pussy the Cat","weight":"12kg","age":"5"}, "1":{"kind":"mammal","name":"Roxy the Dog","weight":"25kg","age":"8"}, "2":{"kind":"fish","name":"Piranha the Fish","weight":"1kg","age":"1"}, "3":{"kind":"bird","name":"Einstein the Parrot","weight":"0.5kg","age":"4"}, }'; For example, I want to find the line with "Piranha the Fish" and then remove it (and json_encode it again as it was). How to do this? I guess i need to search in json_decode($_SESSION["animals"],true) resulting array and find the parent key to remove but i'm stucked anyways.

  I'm hitting a wall here while trying to access items from Magento on an external page (same server, same domain, etc, etc). I want to see if the user is logged into Magento before showing them certain parts on the site. Keep in mind that this code exists outside of Magento.   I know it is possible to use a variable as a variable name for package variables in Perl. I would like to use the contents of a variable as a module name. For instance: package Foo; our @names =("blah1", "blah2"); 1; And in another file I want to be able be able to set the contents of a scalar to "foo" and then access the names array in Foo through that scalar. my $packageName = "Foo"; Essentially I want to do something along the lines of: @{$packageName}::names; #This obviously doesn't work. I know I can use my $names = eval '$'. $packageName . "::names" But only if Foo::names is a scalar. Is there another way to do this without the eval statement?

  I ran a security code analyst i found myself having a CA2105 warning. I looked at the grade tampering example. I didnt realize you can assign int[] to a readonly int. I thought readonly was like the C++ const and makes it illegal. The How to Fix Violations suggest i clone the object (which i dont want to do) or 'Replace the array with a strongly typed collection that cannot be changed'. I clicked the link and see 'ArrayList' and adding each element one by one and it doesnt look like you can prevent something adding more.   I have a script that requires quite e few seconds of processing, up to about minute. The script resizes an array of images, sharpens them and finally zips them up for the user to download. Now I need some sort of progress messages. I was thinking that with jQuery's .post() method the data from the callback function would progressively update, but that doesn't seem to work.   Hello, I'm working on an isometric game for fast browsers that support <canvas>, which is great fun. To save information of each tile, I use a two-dimensional array which contains numbers representing a tile ID, like: var level = [[1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 0], [0, 1, 1, 2, 0, 1], [0, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1]]; var tiles = [ {name: 'grass', color: 'green'}, {name: 'water', color: 'blue'}, {name: 'forest', color: 'ForestGreen'} ]; So far it works great, but now I want to work with heights and slopes like in this picture: For each tile I need to save it's tile ID, height and information about which corners are turned upward. I came up with a simple idea about a bitwise representation of all four corners, like this: 1011 // top, bottom and left corner turned up My question is: what is the most efficient way to save these three values for each cell? Is it possible to save these three values as one integer?

There are around 200 NSDictionary objects and only 5 or so string ID.   I have this pseudo-code in java: bytes[] hash = MD5.hash("example"); String hexString = toHexString(hash); //This returns something like a0394dbe93f bytes[] hexBytes = hexString.getBytes("UTF-8"); Now, hexBytes[] and hash[] are different. I know I'm doing something wrong since hash.length() is 16 and hexBytes.length() is 32. Maybe it has something to do with java using Unicode for chars (just a wild guess here). Anyways, the question would be: how to get the original hash[] array from the hexString.   I have a beagleboard with TMS320C64x+ DSP. I'm working on an image processing beagleboard application. Here's how it's going to work: The ARM reads an image from a file and put the image in a 2D array. The arm sends the matrix to the DSP. The DSP receives the matrix. The DSP performs the image processing algorithm on the received matrix (the algorithm code uses about 5MB of dynamically allocated memory). The DSP sends the processed image (matrix) to the ARM. The arm received the matrix. The arm saved the processed image to a file. I'v already written the code for steps 1,3,5. What is the easiest way to do steps 3+4 (sending the data)? Code examples are welcome.

• Are bit operations quick?

  I'm dealing with a problem which needs to work with a lot of data. Currently its' values are represented as unsigned int. I know that real values do not exceed some limit, say 1000. That means that I can use unsigned short to store it. One profit is that it'll use less space. Do I have to pay for it by loosing in performance? Another assumption. I decided to store data as short but all calling functions use int, so I need to convert between these datatypes when storing/extracting values. Wiil the performance lost be dramatic? Third assumption. Due to great wish to econom memory I decided to use not short but just 10 bits packed into array of unsigned int. What will happen in this case comparing with previous ones?

Why? How can I get all children's trees?

But look like both the author and answerer have already abandoned it. v(hexagonSide - hexagonWidth * hexagonWidth): What's hexagonSide and hexagonWidth? Isn't it will < 0 (so square root can't be calculated). And, can I put a hexagon into a rectangle? I need to create a grid like this: One more thing, how can I arrange my array to store data, as well as get which cells are next to one cell? • Add UIView Above All Other Views, Including StatusBar

  I'm wanting to create a view (UIControl) which blocks all input and shows a UIActivityIndicatorView while authenticating a user. The UIActionSheet and UIAlertView both manage to add a black semi-transparent view over the top of all other views to block input and I'd like to do similar. I've tried adding my view to the top UIWindow in the [[UIApplication sharedApplication] windows] array, and while this does place it above the UIKeyboard if it's visible, it doesn't place it over the StatusBar (which makes sense). My next attempt was to extend UIAlertView, remove all of its subviews and set its layer.contents = nil, then add the ActivityIndicator as a subview. This works well, but I can't seem to kill the default bouncy transition of the UIAlertView when you call it to "show". Does anyone have any pointers towards the best way tackle this problem that gives me full control? Oh and I know blocking input is not great but I do ensure it's for a short period of time and it has the benefit of making it clear to the user that their action, which must complete for them to progress, is processing.
