• How to automate rsync without asking for password prompt

  Hello, in C# Application. I've a windows form application in which clicking certain button make object from a 2nd Form. On closing this 2nd From by user Memory used by this form not released (from Task Manager). I Tried using this.dispose() on exit button ,tried this.close() , tried form2 =null in the main code ,and tried clearing all controls from this form by code before Disposing and every time the clicks the button memory usage by the application increases more and memory used by previous instance not released. What shall i use to solve this problem ?

• jboss-5.1.0.GA auto start on boot

  i was given the task of installing jboss-5.1.0.GA on a remote ubuntu 10.4 Lts server., with all those resources out there i was able to run jboss successfully but my problem was that i wasn't able to get auto start on boot work so that jboss would be running on the server. i followed a couple of tutorials that said me create a separate user called jboss and to copy the jboss_init_Redhat.sh to the /etc/init.d/jboss (jboss home, java path ,jboss user and the binding to 0.0.0.0 is all set) and used /etc/init.d/jboss start but cant get to see the Jboss page at the Ip on a browser., but if i do a ./run.sh -b 0.0.0.0 == the servre is up ... can some body shed some light on this issue????

• is NATURAL JOIN any better than SELECT FROM WHERE in terms of performance ?

  Today I got into a debate with my project manager about Cartesian products. He says a 'natural join' is somehow much better than using 'select from where' because the later cause the db engine to internally perform a Cartesian product but the former uses another approach that prevents this. As far as I know, the natural join syntax is not any different in anyway than 'select from where' in terms of performance or meaning, I mean you can use either based on your taste. Here's the step of my program execution : Initialization of a 5x5 matrix of integers with a unique value '42' contained in the class 'Toto' (initialized in the main). I print the initialized 5x5 matrix. Declaration of std::vector of 5 threads. I attach all threads respectively with their task (threadTask method). Each thread will manipulate a std::vector<int> instance. I join all threads. I print the new state of my 5x5 matrix. • Generated PersonController expects Authority to contain word ROLE

  I'm brand new to acegi and relatively new to Grails. I just followed the tutorial to set up a new role and a new user. Every time I saved the user (with a role checked), it saved the user information fine, but not the role associated with the user. I finally dug into the controller code that was generated, and noticed this: private void addRoles(person) { for (String key in params.keySet()) { if (key.contains('ROLE') && 'on' == params.get(key)) { Authority.findByAuthority(key).addToPeople(person) } } } So to be sure I was interpreting it correctly, I added the word ROLE to my authorties, and it worked like a charm. Am I missing something obvious, is this a bug, or.......? The examples showed simple role names like "user" or "manager".

I want to iterate through the file and append each line to a common variable, that can be passed to a command line tool. For example, the file might be: C:\dir\test.txt C:\WINDOWS\test2.txt C:\text3.txt and I'd like to assign them to some variable 'a' such that: a = "C:\dir\test.txt C:\WINDOWS\test2.txt C:\text2.txt" A secondary question is - what is a good batch file reference? I'm finding some stuff in the Windows material, and a lot of home-grown websites, but nothing particularly complete. Thanks!

  In cake php I can grab a model's fields by using the find() method. What if I wish to apply a transformation function to the fields? Is there a way to directly accomplish this task? Suppose I have a model called RaceTime with the fields racerId and timeMillis RaceTime +------------+ | Field | +------------+ | id | | racerId | | timeMillis | +------------+ timeMillis is an int specifying how long the race took in milliseconds. Obviously saying a race took 15651 milliseconds isn't very useful to a human reader, and I would wish to convert this to a human readable format. Is there a way to accomplish this directly in find()? Or is the only option to loop through the results after find() finishes?

  I'm new to programming in C and have been given the task of creating a 2D array that stores random letters from A-Z using the random () function. I know how to do random numbers. nextvalue = random ( ) % 10001; but am unsure on how exactly to create a random character. I know that you can use ASCII to create a random character using the range 65 - 90 in the ASCII table. Can anyone help me come up with a solution? I would greatly appreciate it.

  I'm looking for a small, fast (in both directions) bijective mapping between the following list of integers and a subset of the range 0-127: 0x200C, 0x200D, 0x200E, 0x200F, 0x2013, 0x2014, 0x2015, 0x2017, 0x2018, 0x2019, 0x201A, 0x201C, 0x201D, 0x201E, 0x2020, 0x2021, 0x2022, 0x2026, 0x2030, 0x2039, 0x203A, 0x20AA, 0x20AB, 0x20AC, 0x20AF, 0x2116, 0x2122 One obvious solution is: y = x>>2 & 0x40 | x & 0x3f; x = 0x2000 | y<<2 & 0x100 | y & 0x3f; Edit: I was missing some of the values, particularly 0x20Ax, which don't work with the above. Another obvious solution is a lookup table, but without making it unnecessarily large, a lookup table would require some bit rearrangement anyway and I suspect the whole task can be better accomplished with simple bit rearrangement. For the curious, those magic numbers are the only "large" Unicode codepoints that appear in legacy ISO-8859 and Windows codepages.

• How to distribute the chance to display each SWF evenly among banner collection?

  Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this?   I would like to draw a rectangle around a video playing on my screen. For example, I am watching a YouTube video in my browser. I would like to be able to take a screenshot, analyze that screenshot, and then draw a rectangle around where the YouTube video is playing. I have just started looking into how I might be able to to this. I came across OpenCV. I understand that OpenCV covers many computer vision techniques. Would any of them be particularly well suited for this task? Also, is this something that can be done in real time? Finally, is there a technique that would work for both in browser and full screen?   I am using djcelery 2.1.4 with ghettoq 0.4.5 and django 1.2.3 and I am able to run tasks all day long, but when I try to use any broadcast functionality it fails without errors. Take the simplest case -- I run celeryd: python manage.py celeryd The daemon starts and I try to run a ping: >>> from celery.task.control import ping >>> ping() [] I can see the message that ping created appear in the database, but apparently none of the nodes are picking it up? Am I doing something wrong here? Does broadcast not work with carrot?

  I'm trying to design a system similar to the traditional server monitoring systems like MOM, Tivoli, Open View, where an agent will record data and then upload it to a central database once a day, but them also be able to send immediate alerts back to the server. I'm not sure what the best methodology might be for this. I've started looking at Microsoft sync services but I'm not sure if it will fit my needs. I'm using VS2008 and C#. • Hoard allocator not "working"?

  I'm trying to Hoard allocator to work, but it seems it doesn't. I have a benchmark application that does a lot of dynamic memory management. The execution time for Hoard and glibc memory manager is the same. It makes me wonder if I'm doing the right thing. What I do is... export LD_PRELOAD="/path/libhoard.so" g++ main.cpp -O3 -o bm -lpthread -lrt Shouldn't I have to link to Hoard allocator? Does it matter what path (in LD_PRELOAD) is, or can I have whatever path? I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, and g++ 4.2.4 Cheers

• Extracting friends' E-Mail addresses from Facebook (Skype?)

  I am currently in the process of migrating away from Facebook (privacy concerns, mostly). For obvious reasons, I want to save away the email addresses from my friends' profile pages. However, this turned out to be a rather hard task, because the Facebook API doesn't let you access any mail addresses. However, I just tried the automatic contact import feature of Skype, and it seems to be able to retrieve the email addresses of my friends from Facebook. Does anyone know how it's done so I could replicate it?

  Hi, I want to make an android application that will intimate the users about the approaching railway stations in INDIA. For this I will use GPS (Location Manager etc) on Android. So far, I have not developed the applications using GPS, so I have little insight on the capabilities of Android API for this. I know, through the android API I can know the current location of the users through GPS and google API but can I know the location of nearby railway stations from Google API for India?   So I'm working on an exceedingly large codebase, and recently upgraded to gcc 4.3, which now triggers this warning: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’ Obviously, the correct way to fix this is to find every declaration like char *s = "constant string"; or function call like void foo(char *s); foo("constant string"); and make them const char pointers. However, that would mean touching 564 files, minimum, which is not a task I wish to perform at this point in time. The problem right now is that I'm running with -werror, so I need some way to stifle these warnings. How can I do that?

  Hello, I have such code: // Non singleton class MyLogManager { void write(message) {Ogre::LogManager::getSingletonPtr()->logMessage(message);} } class Utils : public singleton<Utils> { MyLogManager *handle; MyLogManager& getHandle { return *handle; } }; namespace someNamespace { MyLogManager &Log() { return Utils::get_mutable_instance().getHandle(); } } int main() { someNamespace::Log().write("Starting game initializating..."); } In this code I'm using boost's singleton (from serialization) and calling Ogre's log manager (it's singleton-type too). The program fails at any trying to do something with Ogre::LogManager::getSingletonPtr() object with code User program stopped by signal (SIGSEGV) I checked that getSingletonPtr() returns address 0x000 But using code Utils::get_mutable_instance().getHandle().write("foo") works good in another part of program. What's wrong could be there with calling singletons?
