  • Ternary operators and variable reassignment in PHP

    - by TomcatExodus
    I've perused the questions on ternary operators vs. if/else structures, and while I understand that under normal circumstances there is no performance loss/gain in using ternary operators over if/else structures, I've not seen any mention of this situation. Language specific to PHP (but any language agnostic details are welcome) does the interpreter reassign values in situations like this: $foo = 'bar' $foo = strlen($foo) > 3 ? substr($foo, 0, 3) : $foo; Since this would evaluate to $foo = $foo; is this inefficient, or does the interpreter simply overlook/discard this evaluation? On a side note, what about: !defined('SECURE') ? exit : null;

  • Problem with commit in sharpsvn

    - by zhangxiaoning
    Hi,I'm a programmer in china. I want to commit the changes of a working copy in my computer to the repository. The repository is in an URL and i´m doing this now: using (SvnClient client = new SvnClient()){ string path = @"C:\testdelete\test.java"; client.Delete(path); client.Authentication.Clear(); // Clear predefined handlers client.Authentication.UserNamePasswordHandlers += delegate(object obj, SharpSvn.Security.SvnUserNamePasswordEventArgs args) { args.UserName = "username"; args.Password = "password"; }; var uri = client.GetUriFromWorkingCopy(path); if (uri != null) { SvnCommitArgs args = new SvnCommitArgs(); args.ThrowOnError = true; args.ThrowOnCancel = true; client.Commit(path, args);//here throw a SvnOperationCanceledException } } But it doesn´t work,Why?Thanks!

  • c#: sms appears to have been sent, but stuck in phone outbox

    - by I__
    i wrote code to send an SMS using my gsm phone which is attached to the computer through com port. the code is below. the problem is i do see that it is in the outbox of the phone and it actually appears to have been sent, but when i contact the recipient they say that i have not received the message. i test the phone, and i create and send a message using only the phone and it works perfectly, however when i do this with my code, it APPEARS to have been sent, and i am getting all the correct AT COMMAND responses from the phone, but the message is actually NOT sent. here is the code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Threading; using System.IO.Ports; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { SerialPort serialPort1; int m_iTxtMsgState = 0; const int NUM_MESSAGE_STATES = 4; const string RESERVED_COM_1 = "COM1"; const string RESERVED_COM_4 = "COM4"; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); this.Closing += new CancelEventHandler(Form1_Closing); } private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { serialPort1 = new SerialPort(GetUSBComPort()); if (serialPort1.IsOpen) { serialPort1.Close(); } serialPort1.Open(); //ThreadStart myThreadDelegate = new ThreadStart(ReceiveAndOutput); //Thread myThread = new Thread(myThreadDelegate); //myThread.Start(); this.serialPort1.DataReceived += new SerialDataReceivedEventHandler(sp_DataReceived); } private void Form1_Closing(object sender, System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs e) { serialPort1.Close(); } private void SendLine(string sLine) { serialPort1.Write(sLine); sLine = sLine.Replace("\u001A", ""); consoleOut.Text += sLine; } public void DoWork() { ProcessMessageState(); } public void ProcessMessageState() { switch (m_iTxtMsgState) { case 0: m_iTxtMsgState = 1; SendLine("AT\r\n"); //NOTE: SendLine must be the last thing called in all of these! break; case 1: m_iTxtMsgState = 2; SendLine("AT+CMGF=1\r\n"); break; case 2: m_iTxtMsgState = 3; SendLine("AT+CMGW=" + Convert.ToChar(34) + "+9737387467" + Convert.ToChar(34) + "\r\n"); break; case 3: m_iTxtMsgState = 4; SendLine("A simple demo of SMS text messaging." + Convert.ToChar(26)); break; case 4: m_iTxtMsgState = 5; break; case 5: m_iTxtMsgState = NUM_MESSAGE_STATES; break; } } private string GetStoredSMSID() { return null; } /* //i dont think this part does anything private void serialPort1_DataReceived_1(object sender, System.IO.Ports.SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) { string response = serialPort1.ReadLine(); this.BeginInvoke(new MethodInvoker(() => textBox1.AppendText(response + "\r\n"))); } */ void sp_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) { try { Thread.Sleep(500); char[] msg; msg = new char[613]; int iNumToRead = serialPort1.BytesToRead; serialPort1.Read(msg, 0, iNumToRead); string response = new string(msg); this.BeginInvoke(new MethodInvoker(() => textBox1.AppendText(response + "\r\n"))); serialPort1.DiscardInBuffer(); if (m_iTxtMsgState == 4) { int pos_cmgw = response.IndexOf("+CMGW:"); string cmgw_num = response.Substring(pos_cmgw + 7, 4); SendLine("AT+CMSS=" + cmgw_num + "\r\n"); //stop listening to messages received } if (m_iTxtMsgState < NUM_MESSAGE_STATES) { ProcessMessageState(); } } catch { } } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { m_iTxtMsgState = 0; DoWork(); } private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string[] sPorts = SerialPort.GetPortNames(); foreach (string port in sPorts) { consoleOut.Text += port + "\r\n"; } } private string GetUSBComPort() { string[] sPorts = SerialPort.GetPortNames(); foreach (string port in sPorts) { if (port != RESERVED_COM_1 && port != RESERVED_COM_4) { return port; } } return null; } }

  • Constrain a table to have only one row

    - by finnw
    What's the cleanest way to constrain a SQL table to allow it to have no more than one row? This related question discusses why such a table might exist, but not how the constraint should be implemented. So far I have only found hacks involving a unique key column that is constrained to have a specific value, e.g. ALWAYS_0 TINYINT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY DEFAULT (0) CONSTRAINT CHECK_ALWAYS_0 CHECK (ALWAYS_0 = 0). I am guessing there is probably a cleaner way to do it. The ideal solution would be portable SQL, but a solution specific to MS SQL Server or postgres would also be useful

  • Why is Flexigird not working on IE

    - by Jrubins
    Hi I have a page with a flexigrid on it and it works on FF,Chrome,Opera except IE. it points out that the error is at line of "if(!btn.separator)" which is null or not an object. Well, every thing inside that block is an error on IE cause i think the error is on the "btn" objects.. has anyone ever encountered this error? this is from the latest version of flexigrid for(i=0;i< p.buttons.length;i++){ var btnfor = p.buttons[i]; if(!btn.separator) { //do things here } } Thanks Jrubins

  • Split text files Accross threads

    - by Kevin
    The problem: I have a few text files (10) with numbers in them on every line. I need to have them split across some threads I create using the pthread library. these threads that are created (worker threads) are to find the largest prime number that gets sent to them (and over all the largest prime from all of the text files). My current thoughts on solutions: I am thinking myself to have two arrays and all of the text files in one array and the other array will contain a binary file that I can read say 1000 lines and send the pointer to the index of that binary file in a struct that contains the id, file pointer, and file position and let it crank through that. a little bit of what I am talking about pthread_create(&threads[index],NULL,calc_sqrt,(void *)threadFields[index]);//Pass struct to each worker Struct: typedef struct threadFields{ int *id, *position; FILE *Fin; }tField; If anyone has any insight or a better solution it would be greatly appreciated Thanks

  • Why is the 'this' keyword not a reference type in C++ [closed]

    - by Dave Tapley
    Possible Duplicates: Why ‘this’ is a pointer and not a reference? SAFE Pointer to a pointer (well reference to a reference) in C# The this keyword in C++ gets a pointer to the object I currently am. My question is why is the type of this a pointer type and not a reference type. Are there any conditions under which the this keyword would be NULL? My immediate thought would be in a static function, but Visual C++ at least is smart enough to spot this and report static member functions do not have 'this' pointers. Is this in the standard?

  • Starting with an empty dataProvider for a <List>

    - by tictac
    I'm using a List which I need to be empty at the start. I'm adding items to it as needed by clicking a button. Since it's empty, I haven't added a dataProvider property <s:List id="thelist" itemRenderer="listIR" /> To add an item, I'm adding it to the dataProvider directly thelist.dataProvider.addItem() but when I do that, it gives me this error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. Also I have a debugging Alert in the listIR itemRenderer itself and I see that when the list is created, I get that alert twice as if 2 itemRenderers were created, even though the list is supposed to be empty at the start. Any ideas what's wrong with this itemRenderer? How do I start with an empty dataProvider and add items smoothly to it?

  • C# Count registry keys existing using a partial value

    - by cheeseman
    Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey registryPath = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey(@"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Testing"); Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey entryKey = registryPath.OpenSubKey("Entry Point"); I have a lot of keys in Testing, in the format: "Entry Point 011", "Entry Point 123" - so Entry Point with random numbers after it. Would I be able to search the registryPath variable above and get a count of the number of keys containing the "Entry Point" keyword? Assuming that there are also other keys existing without this keyword. At the moment I have been using a for loop and looping for all possible combinations to get a count of all the keys, checking if the key exists or not, but as there are keys as high as "Entry Point 9000" having a for loop execute 9000 times is very inefficient. for (int i = 0; i <= highestEntryPointValue; i++) { Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey entryKey = steamApps64.OpenSubKey("Entry Point " + Convert.ToString(i)); if (entryKey != null) { count++; } }

  • Inheritance - initialization problem

    - by dumbquestion
    I have a c++ class derived from a base class in a framework. The derived class doesn't have any data members because I need it to be freely convertible into a base class and back - the framework is responsible for loading and saving the objects and I can't change it. My derived class just has functions for accessing the data. But there are a couple of places where I need to store some temporary local variables to speed up access to data in the base class. mydata* MyClass::getData() { if ( !m_mydata ) { // set to NULL in the constructor m_mydata = some_long_and complex_operation_to_get_the_data_in_the_base() } return m_mydata; } The problem is if I just access the object by casting the base class pointer returned from the framework to MyClass* the ctor for MyClass is never called and m_mydata is junk. Is there a way of only initializing the m_mydata pointer once?

  • Converting code to perl sub, but not sure I'm doing it right

  • Only show items owned by the currently logged in user in category list view

    - by jalbasri
    I'd like to be able to provide a "Category List" view that only shows Articles that the currently logged in user owns. Is there somewhere I can edit the query used to populate the Category List view or an extension that provides this functionality. Thank you for any help you can provide. -J. Thank you for your answer. I've written the plugin. Instead of passing in an array of Articles the onContentBeforeDisplay function is called for every article and an ArrayObject of the single article gets passed in. I've been able to identify the articles I want not to be displayed but still cannot get them not to display. The $params variable has values such as "list_show_xxx" but I can't seem to change or access them. here is a var_dump($params): object(Joomla\Registry\Registry)#190 (1) { ["data":protected]=> object(stdClass)#250 (83) { ["article_layout"]=> string(9) "_:default" ["show_title"]=> string(1) "1" ["link_titles"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_intro"]=> string(1) "1" ["info_block_position"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_category"]=> string(1) "1" ["link_category"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_parent_category"]=> string(1) "0" ["link_parent_category"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_author"]=> string(1) "1" ["link_author"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_create_date"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_modify_date"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_publish_date"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_item_navigation"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_vote"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_readmore"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_readmore_title"]=> string(1) "1" ["readmore_limit"]=> string(3) "100" ["show_tags"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_icons"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_print_icon"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_email_icon"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_hits"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_noauth"]=> string(1) "0" ["urls_position"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_publishing_options"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_article_options"]=> string(1) "0" ["save_history"]=> string(1) "1" ["history_limit"]=> int(10) ["show_urls_images_frontend"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_urls_images_backend"]=> string(1) "1" ["targeta"]=> int(0) ["targetb"]=> int(0) ["targetc"]=> int(0) ["float_intro"]=> string(4) "left" ["float_fulltext"]=> string(4) "left" ["category_layout"]=> string(9) "_:default" ["show_category_heading_title_text"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_category_title"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_description"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_description_image"]=> string(1) "0" ["maxLevel"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_empty_categories"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_no_articles"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_subcat_desc"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_cat_num_articles"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_base_description"]=> string(1) "1" ["maxLevelcat"]=> string(2) "-1" ["show_empty_categories_cat"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_subcat_desc_cat"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_cat_num_articles_cat"]=> string(1) "1" ["num_leading_articles"]=> string(1) "1" ["num_intro_articles"]=> string(1) "4" ["num_columns"]=> string(1) "1" ["num_links"]=> string(1) "4" ["multi_column_order"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_subcategory_content"]=> string(1) "0" ["show_pagination_limit"]=> string(1) "1" ["filter_field"]=> string(5) "title" ["show_headings"]=> string(1) "1" ["list_show_date"]=> string(1) "0" ["date_format"]=> string(0) "" ["list_show_hits"]=> string(1) "1" ["list_show_author"]=> string(1) "1" ["orderby_pri"]=> string(5) "order" ["orderby_sec"]=> string(5) "rdate" ["order_date"]=> string(9) "published" ["show_pagination"]=> string(1) "2" ["show_pagination_results"]=> string(1) "1" ["show_feed_link"]=> string(1) "1" ["feed_summary"]=> string(1) "0" ["feed_show_readmore"]=> string(1) "0" ["display_num"]=> string(2) "10" ["menu_text"]=> int(1) ["show_page_heading"]=> int(0) ["secure"]=> int(0) ["page_title"]=> string(16) "Non-K2 News List" ["page_description"]=> string(33) "Bahrain Business Incubator Centre" ["page_rights"]=> NULL ["robots"]=> NULL ["access-edit"]=> bool(true) ["access-view"]=> bool(true) } } I've tried $params-data-list_show_author = "0" but then the page doesn't load, problem is accessing and changing the variables in $param.   • Errors not being redirected to an Http handler if redirectMode="ResponseRewrite"

    - by Luk
    I see similar questions, but it looks like there were due to an unrelated issue. in 3.5, I have a custom error handler that logs errors and redirects users. My web.config is set up as such: <httpHandlers> <add path="error.ashx" type="MySite.Tools.WebErrorLogger, MySite.Tools" verb="*"/> </httpHandlers> <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="error.ashx" redirectMode="ResponseRewrite"> </customErrors> When redirectMode is set to "ResponseRedirect", everything works fine (but Server.GetLastError() being null but that seems to be intended) However, when using ResponseRewrite, my handler is not called and I see ASP.Net default error pages. Any idea on how I could do this? (I unfortunately can't use either an aspx page or do my error handling in global.asax due to other constraints)

  • Having trouble comparing a range of dates entered in a form with records in a mySQL database

    - by Andrew Fox
    I have a table called schedule and a column called Date where the column type is date. In that column I have a range of dates, which is currently from 2012-11-01 to 2012-11-30. I have a small form where the user can enter a range of dates (input names from and to) and I want to be able to compare the range of dates with the dates currently in the database. This is what I have: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////First set the date range that we want to use////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////// if(isset($_POST['from']) && ($_POST['from'] != NULL)) { $startDate = $_POST['from']; } else { //Default date is Today $startDate = date("Y-m-d"); } if(isset($_POST['to']) && ($_POST['to'] != NULL)) { $endDate = $_POST['to']; } else { //Default day is one month from today $endDate = date("Y-m-d", strtotime("+1 month")); } ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////Next calculate the total amount of days selected above to use as a limiter////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// $dayStart = strtotime($startDate); $dayEnd = strtotime($endDate); $total_days = abs($dayEnd - $dayStart) / 86400 +1; echo "Start Date: " . $startDate . "<br>End Date: " . $endDate . "<br>"; echo "Day Start: " . $dayStart . "<br>Day End: " . $dayEnd . "<br>"; echo "Total Days: " . $total_days . "<br>"; //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //////Then we're going to see if the dates selected are in the schedule table////// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //Select all of the dates currently in the schedule table between the range selected. $sql = ("SELECT Date FROM schedule WHERE Date BETWEEN '$startDate' AND '$endDate' LIMIT $total_days"); //Run a check on the query to make sure it worked. If it failed then print the error. if(!$result_date_query = $mysqli->query($sql)) { die('There was an error getting the dates from the schedule table [' . $mysqli->error . ']'); } //Set the dates to an array for future use. // $current_dates = $result_date_query->fetch_assoc(); //Loop through the results while a result is being returned. while($row = $result_date_query->fetch_assoc()) { echo "Row: " . $row['Date'] . "<br>"; echo "Start day: " . date('Y-m-d', $dayStart) . "<br>"; //Set this loop to add 1 day to the Start Date until it reaches the End Date for($i = $dayStart; $i <= $dayEnd; $i = strtotime('+1 day', $i)) { $date = date('Y-m-d',$i); echo "Loop Start day: " . date('Y-m-d', $dayStart) . "<br>"; //Run a check to see if any of the dates selected are in the schedule table. if($row['Date'] != $date) { echo "Current Date: " . $row['Date'] . "<br>"; echo "Date: " . $date . "<br>"; echo "It appears as though you've selected some dates that are not in the schedule database.<br>Please correct the issue and try again."; return; } } } //Free the result so something else can use it. $result_date_query->free(); As you can see I've added in some echo statements so I can see what is being produced. From what I can see it looks like my $row['Date'] is not incrementing and staying at the same date. I originally had it set to a variable (currently commented out) but I thought that could be causing problems. I have created the table with dates ranging from 2012-11-01 to 2012-11-15 for testing and entered all of this php code onto phpfiddle.org but I can't get the username provided to connect. Here is the link: PHP Fiddle I'll be reading through the documentation to try and figure out the user connection problem in the meantime, I would really appreciate any direction or advice you can give me.

  • How to call/use a value converter inverted

    - by Soko
    Is it possible to use a converter the "wrong" way around? In other words: can I swap source and target? Here's an example: I created a simple IValueConverter called NullableDecimalToStringConverter which converts an input if "" into null and a number into decimal. I use it to bind a TextBox in my WPF view to a decimal? property in my ViewModel. In another context I'd like to convert a NullableDecimal into a String in the same way... Is it possible to simply use the existing NullableDecimalToStringConverter inverted? One method is to use the parameter of the converter to tell the converter which way it should convert. But is there a .NET build in way to do such a thing? Another way would be to build a base class with both conversion methods and two separate converter which call the base class methods...

  • Copy Paste is Disabled in Property Grid

My problem is that I cannot copy and paste from one property entry to another, and I cannot type in the fields manually as well. Is there a specific property that will enable editing inside the FileNameEditor. Example public class MyEditor : FileNameEditor { public override bool GetPaintValueSupported(ITypeDescriptorContext context) { return false; } public override object EditValue(ITypeDescriptorContext context, IServiceProvider provider, object value) { object e = base.EditValue(context, provider, value); if ((value as MyFileS) != null) { (value as MyFilesS).FileName = (String) e; } return e; } protected override void InitializeDialog(OpenFileDialog openFileDialog) { base.InitializeDialog(openFileDialog); } } Thanks

    As part of my (new) database version control methodology, I'm writing a "change script" and want the change script to insert a new row into the SchemaChangeLog table if the script is executed successfully, or to reverse changes if any single change in the script fails. Is it possible to do schema changes in a transaction and only if it gets committed to then do the INSERT? For example (psuedo-code, I'm not too good with SQL): SET XACT_ABORT ON BEGIN TRANSACTION PRINT 'Add Col2 to Table1' IF NOT EXIST (SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE NAME='Col2' AND object_id=OBJECT_ID('Table1')) BEGIN ALTER TABLE [dbo].[Table1] ADD Col2 int NULL END -- maybe COMMIT here? INSERT INTO SchemaChangeLog VALUES(...) COMMIT TRANSACTION

  • FRIEND_TEST in Google Test - possible circular dependency?

    - by Mihaela
    I am trying to figure out how FRIEND_TEST works in Google Tests. http://code.google.com/p/googletest/wiki/AdvancedGuide#Private_Class_Members I am looking at the following item, trying to implement it in my code: // foo.h #include "gtest/gtest_prod.h" // Defines FRIEND_TEST. class Foo { ... private: FRIEND_TEST(FooTest, BarReturnsZeroOnNull); int Bar(void* x); }; // foo_test.cc ... TEST(FooTest, BarReturnsZeroOnNull) { Foo foo; EXPECT_EQ(0, foo.Bar(NULL)); // Uses Foo's private member Bar(). } In the code above, the piece that I can't see, is that foo_test.cc must include foo.h, in order to have access to Foo and Bar(). [Perhaps it works differently for Google ? in my code, I must include it] That will result in circular dependency... Am I missing something ?

  • "Right" way to deallocate an std::vector object

    - by Jacob
    The first solution is: std::vector<int> *vec = new std::vector<int>; assert(vec != NULL); // ... delete vec; An alternative is: std::vector<int> v; //... vec.clear(); vec.swap(std::vector<int>(vec)); The second solution's a bit of a trick --- what's the "right" way to do it?
