  Currently I'm deal with a history message page using Cakephp.And I got a problem about records' order.In the controller,codes about pagination as follows $this->paginate['Msg'] = array('order'=>'Msg.created desc'); $msgs = $this->paginate('Msg'); $this->set('historymsgs',$msgs); Then I got a page of messges like this: tom:I'm eighteen. • Running JIRA on a VM

  Anyone have any success or failure running Jira on a VM? I am setting up a new source control and defect tracking server. My server room is near full and my services group suggested a VM. I saw that a bunch of people are running SVN on VM (including NCSA). The VM would also free me from hardware problems and give me high availability. Finally, it frees me from some red tape and it can be implemented faster. So, does anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't put Jira on a VM? Thanks

• iPad UI clipped in simulator

  My views created for iPad form factor look fine in Interface Builder. However, when I debug my app in iPhone Simulator 3.2 (with Hardware - Device set to iPad), I see the UI clipped and about half size. There is a 2x button at the bottom which lets me zoom in. But this just shows the same clipped UI in double size. This is really weird since I have created the XIB for iPad form factor and it is supposed to fit iPad completely. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I am using iPhone SDK 3.2 downloaded on 4/30/2010. Thanks. -Raj

• does the accelerometer work for the iphone/ipad simulator?

  From what I can tell, my app should be firing accelerometer events while Im using the iPad simulator in XCode, but its not. I have googled around and it somewhat seems that the accelerometer is not implemented in the simulator, is this correct? If so, why on earth would they have a "Hardware-Shake Gesture" menu option?   Should I use cassandra in 100,000 users project ? In mysql 5 have full text search and partition table. I'm starting to make Question and answer system like stackoverflow with CodeIgniter. It's move from vbulletin to new system. In old vbulletin have around 100,000 users and total post is around 80,000. In next 3 or 4 year, users and posts will be more and more. So, Should I use cassandra instead of mysql 5 ? If I use cassandra, I need to change gridserver in mediatemple to DV server in mediatemple. Cassandra is not built in hosting system. So, I must use VPS or DV server. If I use mysql 5, hosting is not problem but how about speed and search. Btw, What database using in Stack Over ?

• Installing sSMTP from SSH

  I'm on a Web Hosting Buzz reseller account. They have some very stringent mail sending rules, including blocking of authenticated SMTP socket mail sending using PEAR. It was suggested in WHB forum that this was possible with sSMTP. I've since gotten SSH access and googled how to install sSMTP from SSH: rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm yum install ssmtp However, the first line fails with: Retrieving http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm error: skipping http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error It was a very old thread in WHB forum and the thread poster could not be reached for assistance. Any help would be much appreciated!

It has a step-by-step approach so even a 9 year old could just follow along and do it. It shows exactly how to use InfoPath to create the initiation form and task form, how to create the state machine workflow (with both C# and VB code), and also how to add workflow history logging and task notification emails. It does not go into modification forms, but does everything else, pretty much. Hope someone finds this useful.

• Tomcat JAXB 1 and 2 linkage error

  I'm running a tomcat 6, spring, apache cxf webservice, know it is a must to add one third party library to my webapp to fulfill an order. I have jaxb-impl-2.1.12.jar for apache cxf in WEB-INF/lib folder and the new library which contains the JAXB 1.0 runtime. JAXB 2 ist used by apache cxf for dynamic clients (i need them). So is there a possibility to run the webapps with both libraries? Error: Caused by: java.lang.LinkageError: You are trying to run JAXB 2.0 runtime but you have old JAXB 1.0 runtime earlier in the classpath. Please remove the JAXB 1.0 runtime for 2.0 runtime to work correctly.

• Python 2 vs Python 3 and Tutorial

  Hey guys. I am 12 years old and I have had a small amount of experience with BASIC. I am thinking about learning Python, but I’m not sure if I should learn the 2.6 version or the 3.0 version. I don’t really care about the support for libraries or anything along those lines quite yet. I was wondering if it is easier to code in 3.0 than 2.6. And is it more fun and productive? I would also appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction for a simple yet complete tutorial that is easy to understand and possible teaches Object Oriented Programing. I don’t really care if it teaches OOP or not. One more thing; if I do learn python, is it possible to easily compile a python source code file into a 'stand-alone' .exe file for Windows? I really liked that functionality in BASIC. Thanks!!!!

• Newbie can't get Tomcat to reload Flex/BlazeDS application

  I'm an experienced 'old school' programmer, but new to Tomcat and Flex. I've followed the getting started for BlazeDS. I'm making changes to the Flex code using Flex Builder 3, but I just can't get the changes to show up when I refresh the page on my client. Server and client are separate physical machines, I've even re-started the server hardware. One curious thing, even when I re-started the server I didn't have to re-login to the Tomcat manager page - I didn't restart my client, I guess it remembers my session? TIA, getting frustrated - like my flex page is 'write once'.

  I'm trying to use the TMP environment variable in a program. When I ask for tmp = os.path.expandvars("$TMP") I get C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp Which contains the old-school, tilde form. A function I have no control over returns paths like C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp\file.txt My problem is this; I'd like to check if the file is in my temp drive, but I can't find a way to compare them. How do you tell if these two Windows directories; C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp are the same?

• Converting from samplerate/cutoff frequency to pi-radians/sample in a discrete time sampled IIR filter system.

  I am working on doing some digital filter work using Python and Numpy/Scipy. I'm using scipy.signal.iirdesign to generate my filter coefficents, but it requires the filter passband coefficents in a format I am not familiar with wp, ws : float Passband and stopband edge frequencies, normalized from 0 to 1 (1 corresponds to pi radians / sample). For example: Lowpass: wp = 0.2, ws = 0.3 Highpass: wp = 0.3, ws = 0.2 (from here) I'm not familiar with digital filters (I'm coming from a hardware design background). In an analog context, I would determine the desired slope and the 3db down point, and calculate component values from that. In this context, how do I take a known sample rate, a desired corner frequency, and a desired rolloff, and calculate the wp, ws values from that? (This might be more appropriate for math.stackexchange. I'm not sure)

  I updated to the version 3.0.0.3. Dragged the new ActiveRecord directory in VS08, and added the newer dll. I'm not sure whats going on yet. When I try to compile the project I get that error. My SVN server just lost my old version, so I'll have to download the older Subsonic version and see if that fixes the problem. I have no clue what I did wrong in the configuration as I updated to 3.0.0.3. (still a new users so I couldn't post a photo, but here a link to the error) link text

• MFC SDI Application without a default "New Document" on Startup

  My application is an SDI with multiple views. By default, it creates a new document when the application starts. I want to modify this behavior so that a new document is created only when user explicitly clicks on "New". Or at least mimic this behavior. Any ideas? I am using Visual Studio 2008 with MFC feature pack. I googled and found some solution to this problem in an old MS Journal article. But unfortunately it doesn't seem to work now. Any workarounds or solutions? In short, I need to differentiate between framework call to OnFileNew() and User Click on New.

• jQuery Autocomplete: how to refresh list?

  I have a form with a variable number of autocomplete fields that use the same select list. These fields are added and removed as needed. Whenever a parameter on the page is changed, I (try to) update the list for all the fields by first calling unbind() then autocomplete() with a new parameter added to the url. $('input.foo').unbind().autocomplete(url?new_param=bar); The problem is that unbind() does not seem to be unbinding. When I type in the input field, it fires off the entire history of autocomplete events. I also tried flushCache to no avail. How do I clear out the old events? Thanks.

  Hi all, I'm looking to revamp our mobile site with something simple for phones below the ambiguous smart phone category and something a little more interesting for the phones above this category. I'm not interested in WAP/WML for this project. I'm building a ASP.Net 4 MCV 2 app and using MBDF What I'd like to know is how best to define this differentiation when using MBDF? Screen size, Javascript, SpportsTouchScreen etc. are all in MBDF along with others but I'm not sure where to draw the line and where the data is most accurate for the broad number of devices. • Websphere MQ using JMS, closed connections stuck on the MQ

  I have a simple JMS application deployed on OC4J under AIX server, in my application I'm listening to some queues and sending to other queues on a Websphere MQ deployed under AS400 server. The problem is that my connections to these queues are terminated/closed when it stays idle for some time with the error MQJMS1016 (this is not the problem), and when that happens I attempt to recover the connection and it works, however, the old connection is stuck at the MQ and would not terminate until it is terminated manually.   What is the best resource for serious Commodore 64 programming? Assume that serious programming on the Commodore 64 is not done in BASIC V2 that ships with the Commodore 64. I feel like most of the knowledge is tied up in old books and not available on the internet. All that I have found online are either very beginner style introductions to Commodore 64 programming (Hello world), or arcane demo-coder hacks to take advantage of strange parts of the hardware. I haven't found a well-explained list of opcodes, memory locations for system calls, and general mid-level examples and tips. • Regasm writes mscoree.dll into Registry key InprocServer32

  When I register my .NET Assembly with regasm.exe the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{111E32AD-4BF8-495F-AB4D-6C61BD463EA4}\InprocServer32 is set to "mscoree.dll". However, I am trying to mimic an existing COM-Server that was written in C. When registering this old COM-server the InprocServer32 is set to the full path to this component. Unfortunately the existing system (a plugin host that I can not change) reads and use this value - an is confused by the "mscoree.dll" value. My solution might be to patch this registry entry manually - but I would like to understand why regasm writes "mscoree.dll" into InprocServer32 .

• What are some methods to debug Javascript inside of a UIWebView?

  I'm trying to figure out why something with Javascript isn't working inside of a UIWebView. To my knowledge, there is no way to set a breakpoint inside of XCode for a js file. No problemo, I'll just go back to 2004 and use alert statemen-- oh wait they don't seem to work inside of a UIWebView either! The only thing I could think of is by exporting my HTML And JS files to my desktop and then just doing my debugging inside of Safari. And that works! But of course, the bug I'm fighting with in the UIWebView doesn't occur in Safari. Are there any other ways for debugging inside of a UIWebView, or any tricks that I can use akin to using the old-school alert method?

• POX return data from WCF Data Services

  I am using WCF Data Services (netfx4) to provide data sourced from SQL via EF, the standard OData mechanism is fine and JSON works as well but I need a third option for generic POX (plain old xml). I have yet to come across a simple strategy or switch that allows me to control this but I am sure one must exist or a workaround method might be available. Any ideas? Ideally I would like to be able to use something like the JSONP option wherein I append 'format=JSON' to the URL, in this case 'format=pox' or 'POX=true' or something of that nature.
