  • error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '(' token

    - by jonathanasdf
    include/TestBullet.h:12: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conver sion before '(' token I hate C++ error messages... lol ^^ Basically, I'm following what was written in this post to try to create a factory class for bullets so they can be instantiated from a string, which will be parsed from an xml file, because I don't want to have a function with a switch for all of the classes because that looks ugly. Here is my TestBullet.h: #pragma once #include "Bullet.h" #include "BulletFactory.h" class TestBullet : public Bullet { public: void init(BulletData& bulletData); void update(); }; REGISTER_BULLET(TestBullet); <-- line 12 And my BulletFactory.h: #pragma once #include <string> #include <map> #include "Bullet.h" #define REGISTER_BULLET(NAME) BulletFactory::reg<NAME>(#NAME) #define REGISTER_BULLET_ALT(NAME, CLASS) BulletFactory::reg<CLASS>(NAME) template<typename T> Bullet * create() { return new T; } struct BulletFactory { typedef std::map<std::string, Bullet*(*)()> bulletMapType; static bulletMapType map; static Bullet * createInstance(char* s) { std::string str(s); bulletMapType::iterator it = map.find(str); if(it == map.end()) return 0; return it->second(); } template<typename T> static void reg(std::string& s) { map.insert(std::make_pair(s, &create<T>)); } }; Thanks in advance.

  • Does Apple's Reachability work with 3G connectivity?

    - by rickharrison
    I am developing an iPad application, and I am trying to figure out the best way to decide if a user can connect to the Internet. If the user has no connectivity, I will load cached data, otherwise I will load new data. I am trying to use Apple's reachability class for this, and I wanted to see if I am doing this correctly. In applicationDidFinishLaunchingWithOptions, I am doing this: [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(reachabilityChanged:) name: kReachabilityChangedNotification object: nil]; Reachability hostReach = [[Reachability reachabilityWithHostName: @"www.apple.com"] retain]; [hostReach startNotifer]; Then my reachabilityChanged: looks like this: - (void)reachabilityChanged:(NSNotification* )note { Reachability *curReach = [note object]; self.internetConnectionStatus = [curReach currentReachabilityStatus]; if (internetConnectionStatus == NotReachable) { [viewController getDataOffline]; } else { if (![[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:kFIRST_LAUNCH]) [viewController getCurrentLocation]; else [viewController getData]; } } Right now, this is working perfectly for WiFi iPads. I just want to make sure that this will work for 3G iPads. Could you please let me know if I am doing this correctly or not?

  • Altering lazy-loaded object's private variables

    - by Kevin Pang
    I'm running into an issue with private setters when using NHibernate and lazy-loading. Let's say I have a class that looks like this: public class User { public int Foo {get; private set;} public IList<User> Friends {get; set;} public void SetFirstFriendsFoo() { // This line works in a unit test but does nothing during a live run with // a lazy-loaded Friends list Users(0).Foo = 1; } } The SetFirstFriendsFoo call works perfectly inside a unit test (as it should since objects of the same type can access each others private properties). However, when running live with a lazy-loaded Friends list, the SetFirstFriendsFoo call silently fails. I'm guessing the reason for this is because at run-time, the Users(0).Foo object is no longer of type User, but of a proxy class that inherits from User since the Friends list was lazy-loaded. My question is this: shouldn't this generate a run-time exception? You get compile-time exceptions if you try to access another class's private properties, but when you run into a situation like this is looks like the app just ignores you and continues along its way.

  • Rails 1.0 - Using composed_of gives me a wrong number of arguments (1 for 5) error

    - by Tristan Havelick
    I am developing a Rails 1.0 application (I can't upgrade, it's a strange situation) for which I am trying to use the :composed_of functionality. I have a class called StreetAddress: class StreetAddress attr_reader :address, :address2, :city, :state_id, :zip_code def initialize(address, address2, city, state_id, zip_code) @address = address @address2 = address2 @city = city @state_id = state_id @zip_code = zip_code end end and a model class called Hotel class Hotel < ActiveRecord::Base composed_of :street_address # ... end which has columns: "id", "brand_id", "code", "location_name", "address", "address2", "city", "state_id", "zip_code", "phone_number", "phone_ext", "fax_number", "time_zone", "url", "room_service_email", "manager_name", "manager_email" However when I try to access the aggregation I get an error: >> h = Hotel.find(1) => #<Hotel:0x38ad718 @attributes={"fax_number"=>"1-623-420-0124", "city"=>"Twin Falls", "address2"=>"285", "brand_id"=>"1", "code"=>"XZWUXUSZ", "manager_email"= >"[email protected]", "url"=>"http://www.xycdkzolukfvu.hom", "ph one_number"=>"1-805-706-9995", "zip_code"=>"72436", "phone_ext"=>"48060", "id"=> "1", "manager_name"=>"Igor Mcdowell", "room_service_email"=>"Duis.risus@Donecvit ae.ca", "time_zone"=>"America/Boise", "state_id"=>"15", "address"=>"P.O.   • PHP autoloader: ignoring non-existing include

    - by Bart van Heukelom
    I have a problem with my autoloader: public function loadClass($className) { $file = str_replace(array('_', '\\'), '/', $className) . '.php'; include_once $file; } As you can see, it's quite simple. I just deduce the filename of the class and try to include it. I have a problem though; I get an exception when trying to load a non-existing class (because I have an error handler which throws exceptions). This is inconvenient, because it's also fired when you use class_exists() on a non-existing class. You don't want an exception there, just a "false" returned. I fixed this earlier by putting an @ before the include (supressing all errors). The big drawback with this, though, is that any parser/compiler errors (that are fatal) in this include won't show up (not even in the logs), resulting in a hard to find bug. What would be the best way to solve both problems at once? The easiest way would be to include something like this in the autoloader (pseudocode): foreach (path in the include_path) { if (is_readable(the path + the class name)) readable = true; } if (!readable) return; But I worry about the performance there. Would it hurt a lot? (Solved) Made it like this: public function loadClass($className) { $file = str_replace(array('_', '\\'), '/', $className) . '.php'; $paths = explode(PATH_SEPARATOR, get_include_path()); foreach ($paths as $path) { if (is_readable($path . '/' . $file)) { include_once $file; return; } } }

  • Recommendations, Asp.Net ObjectDataSource bind result of webservice call

    - by DerDres
    I need recommendations on how to solve / structure a solution to the following problem. In an asp.net web application i'll have to visualise results returned from a web service call. Im planning to use a repeater server control and bind this with an objectdatasource. The service returns a result of the form: public class SearchResult : IExtensibleDataObject { [DataMember] public Guid SearchId { get; set; } [DataMember] public DateTime Timestamp { get; set; } [DataMember] public int Offset { get; set; } [DataMember] public int TotalResults { get; set; } [DataMember] public IList<ResultDocumentData> Documents { get; set; } It is the collection of Documents that I need to visualise with a repeater which will be associated with an ObjectDataSource. The datasource should work on the type ResultDocumentData; the collection property in the class SearchResult. I think I need to wrap the call to the webservice in a dataaccess layer class, that will have a getDocuments method returning an IList, that the ObjectDataSource can use as its SelectMethod. I think I could make this work, but I would like to know how to do it in an elegant way. Can you give me general recommendations and/or recommendations for the following: WebProject Folderstructure + naming Naming conventions for the name of the service wrapper class Creating the service reference

  • belongs_to with multiple models

    - by julie p
    Hi there! I am a Rails noob and have a question. I have a feed aggregator that is organized by this general concept: Feed Category (books, electronics, etc) Feed Site Section (home page, books page, etc) Feed (the feed itself) Feed Entry So: class Category < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :feeds has_many :feed_entries, :through => :feeds, :limit => 5 validates_presence_of :name attr_accessible :name, :id end class Section < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :feeds has_many :feed_entries, :through => :feeds, :limit => 5 attr_accessible :name, :id end class Feed < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :categories belongs_to :sections has_many :feed_entries validates_presence_of :name, :feed_url attr_accessible :name, :feed_url, :category_id, :section_id end class FeedEntry < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :feed belongs_to :category belongs_to :section validates_presence_of :title, :url end Make sense? Now, in my index page, I want to basically say... If you are in the Category Books, on the Home Page Section, give me the feed entries grouped by Feed... In my controller: def index @section = Section.find_by_name("Home Page") @books = Category.find_by_name("Books") end In my view: <%= render :partial => 'feed_list', :locals => {:feed_group => @books.feeds} -%> This partial will spit out the markup for each feed entry in the @books collection of Feeds. Now what I need to do is somehow combine the @books with the @section... I tried this: <%= render :partial => 'feed_list', :locals => {:feed_group => @books.feeds(:section_id => @section.id)} -%> But it isn't limiting by the section ID. I've confirmed the section ID by using the same code in the console... Make sense? Any advice? Thanks!

  • [Java] Nested methods vs "piped" methods, which is better?

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi: Since uni, I've programming in Java for 3 years, although I am not fully dedicated to this language, I have spent quite some time in it, nevertheless. I understand both ways, just curious which style do you prefer. public class Test{ public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(getAgent().getAgentName()); } private static Agent getAgent() { return new Agent(); }} class Agent{ private String getAgentName() { return "John Smith"; }} I am pretty happy with nested method calls such like the following public class Test{ public static void main(String[] args) { getAgentName(getAgent()); } private static void getAgentName(Agent agent) { System.out.println(agent.getName()); } private static Agent getAgent() { return new Agent(); }} class Agent { public String getName(){ return "John Smith"; }} They have identical output I saw "John Smith" twice. I wonder, if one way of doing this has better performance or other advantages over the other. Personally I prefer the latter, since for nested methods I can certainly tell which starts first, and which is after. The above code is but a sample, The code that I am working with now is much more complicated, a bit like a maze... So switching between the two styles often blows my head in no time.

  • VS2010 and CSS: What is the best strategy to individually position form controls

    - by George
    OK, I have a ton of controls on my page that I need to individually place. I need to set a margin here, a padding there, etc. None of these particular styles that I want to apply will be applied to more than control. What is the bets practice for determining at which level the style is placed, etc? OK, my choices are 1) External CSS file 1A) Using ClientIdMode = Auto (the default) I could assign a unique CssClass value to the ASP.NET control and, in the external CSS file, create a class selector that would only be applied to that one control. 1B) User Client ID = Predicatable In the external CSS file, I could determine what the ID will be for the controls of interest and create an ID selector (#ControlID{Style} ). However, I fear maintenance issues due to including/removing parent containers that would cause the ID to change. 1C) User Client ID = Static. I could choose static IDs for the controls such that I minimize the likelihood of a clash with auto generated IDs (perhaps by prefixing the ID with "StaticID_" and use an external stylesheet with ID selectors. 2) I could place the style right on the control. The only disadvantage here, as I see it, is that style info is brought down each time instead of being cached , which is what I'd get using an external CSS. If a style isn't resused, I personally don't see much benefit to placing it in an external file, though please explain why if you disagree. Is there moire of a reason that "It's nice to have all the CSS in one place?"

  • Can't access annotation property of subclassed uibutton

    - by Tzur Gazit
    I have a mapView to which I add annotations. The pin's callout have a button (rightCalloutAccessoryView). In order to be able to display various information when the button is pushed, i've subclassed uibutton and added a class called "Annotation". @interface CustomButton : UIButton { NSIndexPath *indexPath; Annotation *mAnnotation; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSIndexPath *indexPath; @property (nonatomic, copy) Annotation *mAnnotation; - (id) setAnnotation2:(Annotation *)annotation; @end Here is "Annotation": @interface Annotation : NSObject <MKAnnotation> { CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; NSString *mPhotoID; NSString *mPhotoUrl; NSString *mPhotoName; NSString *mOwner; NSString *mAddress; } @property (nonatomic, assign) CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoUrl; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoName; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mOwner; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mAddress; - (id) initWithCoordinates:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)coordinate; - (id) setPhotoId:(NSString *)id url:(NSString *)url owner:(NSString *)owner address:(NSString *)address andName:(NSString *)name; @end I want to set the annotation property of the uibutton at - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)pMapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation, in order to refer to it at the button push handler (-(IBAction) showDetails:(id)sender). The problem is that I can't set the annotation property of the button. • Absolutely positioned div on right causing scrollbar when the left doesn't

    - by Michael Snyder
    I'm trying to "flank" a centered div with some design elements that are absolutely positioned outside the main div's width. I'm getting a scroll bar due to the element on the right, but not the element on the left (IE6/7/8, Chrome, Firefox). How can I get rid of that horizontal scrollbar? <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> html, body { height: 100%; width: 100%; margin: 0; } body { text-align: center; } .wrapper { margin: 0 auto; position: relative; width: 960px; z-index: 0; } .main { background: #900; height: 700px; } .right, .left { position: absolute; height: 100px; width: 100px; } .right { background: #090; top: 0px; left: 960px; z-index: 1; } .left { background: #009; top: 0px; left: -100px; z-index: 1; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="main"></div> <div class="left"></div> <div class="right"></div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Cannot edit values of DataGridView bound to a BindingList

    - by m_oLogin
    Hello community, I have trouble editing a databound bindinglist. Let me illustrate it with the following: Say I have the Person class: public Class Person{ private string m_firstname; private string m_lastname; public string FirstName{get;set;} public string LastName{get;set;} public Person{ ... } } I then have a containing class called Population: public class Population{ private BindingList<Person> m_lstPerson = new BindingList<Person>(); private string m_countryName; public BindingList<Person> ListPerson{get; set;} public string CountryName { get; set; } } I then have on one form a first datagridview with DataSource = m_lstPopulation (BindingList). The binding works like a charm when working with the Population objects. When I double click, it opens up a dialog form showing the object details. One tab in the details holds a datagridview bound to that population's ListPerson. The second datagridview displays fine. However, I cannot edit or add cells in this datagridview. None of the columns is set to read-only. In fact, both datagridview have just about the same parameters. What am I missing? It seems that a lock has been placed on the Population object so that its inner fields cannot be edited... Please advise. Thanks.

What am I doing wrong?

I have a page with the following code: $('.editname').click(function (e) { var src = "test.html"; $.modal('<iframe src="' + src + '" height="480" width="640" style="border:0">', { closeHTML:"<div class='no simplemodal-close'>Close</div>", containerCss:{ backgroundColor:"#fff", border:"10px solid #333", height:480, padding:"10px", width:640 }, opacity:50, overlayCss: {backgroundColor:"#fff"}, onShow: function (dialog) { $('.saveit', dialog.data[0]).click(function () { // close the dialog $.modal.close(); }); } }); }); The code for test.html (the contents of the modal window) is: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <link href="css/reset.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="css/layout.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <link href="css/text.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <h1>Test</h1> <div class='pointer spacertop'><a href="#" class="saveit">Save</a></div> </body> </html> The modal window appears, however clicking on the Save button (class saveit) in the modal window does not fire the click function. It does nothing. Please help. Thank you in advance.

  • How do I so a select input for a STI column in a Rails model?

    - by James A. Rosen
    I have a model with single-table inheritance on the type column: class Pet < ActiveRecord::Base TYPES = [Dog, Cat, Hamster] validates_presence_of :name end I want to offer a <select> dropdown on the new and edit pages: <% form_for @model do |f| %> <%= f.label :name %> <%= f.text_input :name %> <%= f.label :type %> <%= f.select :type, Pet::TYPES.map { |t| [t.human_name, t.to_s] } %> <% end %> That gives me the following error: ActionView::TemplateError (wrong argument type String (expected Module)) I read a suggestion to use an alias for the field #type since Ruby considers that a reserved word that's the same as #class. I tried both class Pet < ActiveRecord::Base ... alias_attribute :klass, :type end and class Pet < ActiveRecord::Base ... def klass self.type end def klass=(k) self.type = k end end Neither worked. Any suggestions? Oddly, it works fine on my machine (MRI 1.8.6 on RVM), but fails on the staging server (MRI 1.8.7 not on RVM).

  • Binder and variadic template ends up in a segmentation fault

    - by phlipsy
    I wrote the following program #include <iostream> template<typename C, typename Res, typename... Args> class bind_class_t { private: Res (C::*f)(Args...); C *c; public: bind_class_t(Res (C::*f)(Args...), C* c) : f(f), c(c) { } Res operator() (Args... args) { return (c->*f)(args...); } }; template<typename C, typename Res, typename... Args> bind_class_t<C, Res, Args...> bind_class(Res (C::*f)(Args...), C* c) { return bind_class<C, Res, Args...>(f, c); } class test { public: int add(int x, int y) { return x + y; } }; int main() { test t; // bind_class_t<test, int, int, int> b(&test::add, &t); bind_class_t<test, int, int, int> b = bind_class(&test::add, &t); std::cout << b(1, 2) << std::endl; return 0; } compiled it with gcc 4.3.3 and got a segmentation fault. After spending some time with gdb and this program it seems to me that the addresses of the function and the class are mixed up and a call of the data address of the class isn't allowed. Moreover if I use the commented line instead everything works fine. Can anyone else reproduce this behavior and/or explain me what's going wrong here?

  • Hibernate and parent/child relations

    - by Marco
    Hi to all, I'm using Hibernate in a Java application, and i feel that something could be done better for the management of parent/child relationships. I've a complex set of entities, that have some kind of relationships between them (one-to-many, many-to-many, one-to-one, both unidirectional and bidirectional). Every time an entity is saved and it has a parent, to estabilish the relationship the parent has to add the child to its collection (considering a one-to-may relationship). For example: Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); Child c = new Child(); c.setParent(p); p.getChildren().add(c); session.save(c); session.flush(); In the same way, if i remove a child then i have to explicitly remove it from the parent collection too. Child c = (Child) session.load(Child.class, cid); session.delete(c); Parent p = (Parent) session.load(Parent.class, pid); p.getChildren().remove(c); session.flush(); I was wondering if there are some best practices out there to do this jobs in a different way: when i save a child entity, automatically add it to the parent collection. If i remove a child, automatically update the parent collection by removing the child, etc. For example, Child c = new Child(); c.setParent(p); session.save(c); // Automatically update the parent collection session.flush(); or Child c = (Child) session.load(Child.class, cid); session.delete(c); // Automatically updates its parents (could be more than one) session.flush(); Anyway, it would not be difficult to implement this behaviour, but i was wondering if exist some standard tools or well known libraries that deals with this issue. And, if not, what are the reasons? Thanks

  • Resize view on iPhone when rotating

    - by BCBomb47
    I have an application with many views. I want only a couple of the views to be able to rotate to landscape when the device is rotated. I found out that I couldn't use (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation because that would rotate every view in my app. I found a solution to this problem here on Stack Overflow but now I have another issue to deal with. The view rotates when I turn the device but it still shows the view as if it were still in portrait mode (straight up and down). The top and bottom of the view is cut off. Is there a way to have the view rotate and also adjust its size to fit the new orientation? I also found this but wasn't able to get it to work. Here's my code for that view: @implementation businessBank @synthesize webView, activityIndicator; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSString *urlAddress = @"website_url"; NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:urlAddress]; NSURLRequest *requestObj = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webView loadRequest:requestObj]; [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(didRotate:) name:UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification object:nil]; } - (void)didRotate:(NSNotification *)notification { UIDeviceOrientation orientation = [[notification object] orientation]; if (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeLeft) { [self.view setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI / 2.0)]; } else if (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [self.view setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI / -2.0)]; } else if (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) { [self.view setTransform:CGAffine TransformMakeRotation(M_PI)]; } else if (orientation == UIDeviceOrientationPortrait) { [self.view setTransform:CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(0.0)]; } }

  • Why doesn't this image sprite menu display properly, and why aren't the links working?

    - by briligg
    The code validates. There should be two more images in the menu on the left, above the visible one of the silo. And each should be a link. http://www.briligg.com/agnosticism.html css is: external style sheet: .menu { position: relative; float: left; margin: 10px; padding: 0; width: 150px; } .menu li { margin: 0; padding: 0; list-style: none; position: absolute; left: 0; top: 260px; } .menu li, .menu a { width: 150px; height: 150px; } internal style sheet: .menu { height: 450px; } .mirror { top: 0; } .mirror { background: url(http://www.briligg.com/images/menu-ag.png) 0 0; } .wormcan { top: 151px; } .wormcan { background: url(http://www.briligg.com/images/menu-ag.png) 0 -151px; } .wormsilo { top: 301px; } .wormsilo { background: url(http://www.briligg.com/images/menu-ag.png) 0 -301px; } html: <ul class="menu"> <li class="mirror"> <a href="whoryou.html"></a> </li> <li class="wormcan"> <a href="aroundyou.html"></a> </li> <li class="wormsilo"> <a href="beyondyou.html"></a> </li> </ul>

    I am getting an exception when I try to get @sum on a column in iPhone Core-Data application. My two models are following - Task model: @interface Task : NSManagedObject { } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString * taskName; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSSet* completion; @end @interface Task (CoreDataGeneratedAccessors) - (void)addCompletionObject:(NSManagedObject *)value; - (void)removeCompletionObject:(NSManagedObject *)value; - (void)addCompletion:(NSSet *)value; - (void)removeCompletion:(NSSet *)value; @end Completion model: @interface Completion : NSManagedObject { } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSNumber * percentage; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSDate * time; @property (nonatomic, retain) Task * task; @end And here is the fetch: NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; request.entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Task" inManagedObjectContext:context]; NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"taskName" ascending:YES]; request.sortDescriptors = [NSArray arrayWithObject:sortDescriptor]; NSError *error; NSArray *results = [context executeFetchRequest:request error:&error]; NSArray *parents = [results valueForKeyPath:@"taskName"]; NSArray *children = [results valueForKeyPath:@"[email protected]"]; NSLog(@"%@ %@", parents, children); [request release]; [sortDescriptor release]; The exception is thrown at the fourth line from bottom. The thrown exception is: *** -[NSCFSet decimalValue]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b25a30 *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFSet decimalValue]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b25a30' I would very much appreciate any kind of help.
