• Converting raw data type to enumerated type

  I tried to apply the recommendation of question: Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) After running that command: sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev I get this error message: mount: mount point /mnt/dev does not exist fdisk -l returns /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 do I need to mount sda2 and sda5? Edited after @psusi's comment: /dev/sda1 is the boot file system It seems that I need to mount sda2 or sda5. • Why is my root filesystem always scanned at boot?

  I always have a pause at boot saying my filesystems are being checked (with a "press C to cancel" note, too). Actually (seeing boot.log) I think it's the / fs, which is located at /dev/sdb5 Several questions altoghether, here (hope this does not break any rule): Is this normal? Can I (or even should I) prevent this anyhow? According to boot.log (below) the fs does not seem to be 'clean', or, at least, it's in an state or condition that makes fsck always can it for errors for a while (just a few seconds). How can I fix it? • Keeping player aligned to grid in Pacman

  I am making a Pacman game using XNA. The game is tile based, with each tile being 32 pixels. As the player moves, I need to know whenever it is perfectly on a tile (ie position of 32, 64, etc...) so that I can check to see if the next tile is free. I am using the following logic to test this. if (position.X % 32 == 0 && position.Y %32 == 0) { onTile = true; } I figure that I need to make the player's speed evenly divide 32. Everything works fine if I make the player's speed an integer such as 4 or 8. But if I make the speed something like 6.4, I end up with positions such as 64.00001, and my if statement no longer works correctly. How can I keep the player aligned with the grid, while allowing a wider range of player speeds than 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32? Or is there some better way to go about this? Thanks

They show all as STOPPED I have correctly configured 2 LXC containers: calypso encelado They run perfectly if I run sudo lxc-autostart then sudo lxc-ls --fancy results in: ubuntu@saturn:/etc/init$ sudo lxc-ls --fancy NAME STATE IPV4 IPV6 AUTOSTART calypso RUNNING 192.168.1.161 - YES encelado RUNNING 192.168.1.162 - YES The problem is trying to run them at boot.   Color identifiers make it easier for developers to quickly read and understand the code on screen.  One of the many features provided by JustCode is the ability to colorize additional items that Visual Studio does not allow you to colorize by default.  The colorization of items such as methods, properties, events, variables, and method parameters can easily be tweaked to your specific needs. • Where do I start in regards to making a Gnome/Unity Form Application

  Ok so I am familiar with developing Form and Console applications on Windows using Visual Studio .Net with C#, but where do I start when it comes to Linux distro's like Ubuntu, is there an equivalent? How would one go about matching what they can do in a Windows environment with .Net and C# in a Linux environment without .Net coding in something like Java or C/C++? I am aware of Eclipse, does eclipse have a form designer or do you have to code the design of any Gnome/Unity forms manually? Can I use eclipse to write the Linux equivalent of a console application, that you just double click on to run? I also know about Mono, but the idea is that I want to learn how to develop software without using anything in the Microsoft stack and am not sure where to start. What is the standard language/framework used to develop these types of applications on Linux? As I become more proficient with Visual Studio, C# and .Net, it has struck me that without these Microsoft tools, I am nothing. I am only capable of developing for the Microsoft OS and this scares me. This isn't some anti Microsoft thing, Microsoft makes some incredible Software/Hardware/Operating Systems/IDE's, but it is generally a bad idea to put all of your eggs in one basket so if I want to learn how to develop Terminal and Gnome/Unity form applications where in the world do I start? I have used Linux on and off for years, but Windows has been my primary OS. However I have watched Linux get better and better and as much as I love Windows 7, I am dubious about Windows 8 (I for one will sorely miss my start menu)! Obviously MS aren't going anywhere anytime soon and I could spend the the next couple of decades developing for .Net without any issues but just because you can get away with something doesn't always mean it's a good idea.   This is how the Clementine indicator displays play/pause: It's a minor detail, but I feel that the play and pause icons just don't go with the monochrome design of the panel. In order to change them I tried to locate all files associated with clementine, but to no avail. • Update Your NetBeans Plugin's "Supported NetBeans Versions" In The Next Two Weeks!

  For each NetBeans plugin uploaded to the NetBeans Plugin Portal, the registration page starts like this: Note how the "Supported NetBeans Versions" field is empty, i.e., no checkbox is checked, for the plugin above. As you can also see, there is a red asterisk next to this field, which means it is mandatory. It is mandatory for the latest version of the NetBeans Plugin Portal, while it wasn't mandatory before, so that several plugins were registered without their supported version being set. Therefore, since the version is now mandatory, anyone who doesn't want their plugin to be hidden for the rest of this year, and removed on 1 January 2013 if no one complains about their absence, needs to go to their plugin's registration page and set a NetBeans Version. E-mails have been sent to plugin developers of unversioned plugins already, over the last weeks. Currently there are 91 plugins that still need to have their NetBeans Version set. Probably at least 1/3 of those are my own plugins, so this is as much a reminder to myself as anyone else! Whether or not you have received an e-mail asking you to set a NetBeans Version for your plugins, please take a quick look anyway and maybe this is a good opportunity to update other information relating to your plugin. You (and I) have two weeks: on Monday 16 April, any NetBeans plugin in the Plugin Portal without a NetBeans Version will be hidden. And then removed, at the start of next year, if no one complains.

  I have successfully set up my Envy 15" for Ubuntu 12.04 except for the sound, anyone have any ideas about how to get it working? I had to blacklist snd-usb-audio to my alsa to stop pulseaudio from freezing on login and logout, but now no sound plays.   For those that don’t know, you can download the W7 Phone developer tools now. It is available here. I have installed it and wanted to share my experience so far. You can read the pre-release documentation here. First, here is what it comes with the install: The Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP includes the following: Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone CTP Windows Phone Emulator CTP Silverlight for Windows Phone CTP XNA 4.0 Game Studio CTP First impressions: No ISO image install (Bad for me because I use multiple machine and have to install from a bootstrapper. Its around 228mb download. I already have the VS2010 RC, but it still makes me install the VS2010 Express Edition. Windows Phone Emulator will only work with VS2010. No support for 05/08. Need at least a DX10 graphics compatible card. Final Word: (you are probably going to need this info) To start a new project, go to Installed Templates and select Silverlight for Windows Phone and Windows Phone Application. Use Silverlight for WPF style applications or XNA for W7 Games.
