• Hibernate multi column discriminator

  I have a single lookup table that manages all lookups - legacy and new lookup table structure is context,name, code, value context is either legacy or new name is the name of the lookup - state, status etc...for example code is the code and value is the value associated with the code Is there a way to specify multiple columns as discriminators so that I can get all legacy state code/values or all new status code/values. • Is this class + constructor definition pattern overly redundant?

  I often come across a pattern similar to this: class Person { public string firstName, lastName; public Person(string firstName, string lastName) { this.firstName = firstName; this.lastName = lastName; } } This feels overly redundant (I imagine typing "firstName" once, instead of thrice could be enough…), but I can't think of a proper alternative. Any ideas? Maybe I just don't know about a certain design pattern I should be using here? Edit - I think I need to elaborate a little. I'm not asking how to make the example code "better", but rather, "shorter". In its current state, all member names appear 3 times (declaration, initialization, constructor arguments), and it feels rather redundant. So I'm wondering if there is a pattern (or semantic sugar) to get (roughly) the same behavior, but with less bloat. I apologize for being unclear initially.

  I have to make a lot of text-replacements. Which class is best used to make this in a performant manner. Is it StringBuilder? StringBuilder stringBuilder=new StringBuilder(startString); stringBuilder.Replace(literala1,literala2); stringBuilder.Replace(literalb1,literalb2); stringBuilder.Replace(literalc1,literalc2); ... or does exists a better class to do this. Btw, the literals will be mostly constants.

• Help with a MySQL SELECT WHERE Clause

  A column in my table contains email addresses. I have a text string that contains the a few usernames of email addresses separated by commas. I can make text sting into an array if necessary to get my SELECT WHERE clause to work correctly. Text string search argument is 'bob,sally,steve' I want to produce a WHERE clause that only returns rows where the username portion of the email address in the table matches one of the usernames in my text string search argument. Thus a row with [email protected] would not be returned but [email protected] would be. Does anyone have a WHERE clause sample that produces this result? Thanks.

• Storing object as a column in LINQ

  Hello, i have some class which constructs itself from string, like this: CurrencyVector v = new CurrencyVector("10 WMR / 20 WMZ"); it's actually a class which holds multiple currency values, but it does not matter much. I need to change type of column in my LINQ table (in vs 2010 designer) from String to that class, CurrencyVector. If i do it - i get runtime error when LINQ runtime tries to cast String as CurrencyVector (when populating the table from database). Adding IConvertible did not help. I wrapped these columns in properties, but it's ugly and slow solution. Searching internet gave no results.

• Sql CLR calling webservice throws exception

  I have clr stored procedure that calls a Webservice method. Webmethod in turn call a com object .. and do some processing on a remote Unix server. When I invoke webmethod by it self it works fine. But when called from the CLR I get the following exception.. What am I doing wrong ?   Hi there I'm trying to implement a link list which stores the city name (though you will see this commented out as I need to resolve the issue of not being able to use string and needing to use a primitive data type instead during the declaration), longitude, latitude and of course a pointer to the next node in the chain.   I am in the process of porting a simple CSS grid system to GWT. My CSS file currently has classes like .size1, .size2 etc., and I have a CSS resource that looks like - class MyResource extends CSSResource { @ClassName("size1") String size1(); @ClassName("size2") String size2(); // And so on } However what I really want, is to have a single function like the following - String size(int size); which will generate the appropriate class when passed the size as an integer at runtime. This is needed as I perform some calculations to determine the actual space available/needed for a widget in javascript and then attach the appropriate class name. Is this something that is even possible with GWT?

All i need is, i should be able to assign "\"C:\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\mysqldump\"" to a string. HOW ?

  Hi, I'm trying to build a Spring server for GWT (you can think of it as of Javascript AJAX client). But I can't decide on one point of architecture. How should session be created and used? The obvious easiest way - is to use HTTP sessions (cookies and stuff). Looks fine, but I think that sending session ID separate from the headers would be better (SOAP style). So, what is better: getMyPetsName(String sessionID, int petID) or getMyPetsName(int petID) + session ID through HTTP header (cookies or something). Another question is, if I use the first way (which I like more) - how do I handle session in Spring? I'm really newbie in Spring, and googling did not help. What I need to do is to somehow set the Tenant property, but I can't because: It's a protected property, and It has a private setter Changing the visibility of Tenant doesn't "feel" right. What are my alternatives to unit test my derived controllers?

• Custom "Very Long Int" Division Issue

  Hey everyone, So, for a very silly project in C++, we are making our own long integer class, called VLI (Very Long Int). The way it works (they backboned it, blame them for stupidity) is this: User inputs up to 50 digits, which are input as string. String is stored in pre-made Sequence class, which stores the string in an array, in reverse order. That means, when "1234" is input, it gets stored as [4|3|2|1]. So, my question is this: How can I go about doing division using only these arrays of chars? If the input answer is over 32 digits, I can't use ints to check for stuff, and they basically saying using long ints here is cheating. Any input is welcome, and I can give more clarification if need be, thanks everyone.

  I have a searching system that splits the keyword into chunks and searches for it in a string like this: var regexp_school = new RegExp("(?=.*" + split_keywords[0] + ")(?=.*" + split_keywords[1] + ")(?=.*" + split_keywords[2] + ").*", "i"); I would like to modify this so that so that I would only search for it in the beginning of the words. For example if the string is: "Bbe be eb ebb beb" And the keyword is: "be eb" Then I want only these to hit "be ebb eb" In other words I want to combine the above regexp with this one: var regexp_school = new RegExp("^" + split_keywords[0], "i"); But I'm not sure how the syntax would look like. I'm also using the split fuction to split the keywords, but I dont want to set a length since I dont know how many words there are in the keyword string. split_keywords = school_keyword.split(" ", 3); If I leave the 3 out, will it have dynamic lenght or just lenght of 1? I tried doing a alert(split_keywords.lenght); But didnt get a desired response

  I need to get a string from URL request of brower, and then create a text image by requested text. I know the default encoding of the Java net transmission is "ISO-8859-1", it can works normally with all characters what defined in "ISO-8859-1". But when I request a multi-byte Unicode character (e.g. chinese or something like ¤?), then I need to decode it by "UTF-8" from "ISO-8859-1". My codes like: String reslut = new String(requestString.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"), "UTF-8"); Everything is fine, but I found some characters in ISO-8859-1 are not been shown now, which characters are 0x80 - 0xFF(defined in" ISO-8859-1"), i.e. the characters except 0x00-0x7F are not been shown when converted to "UTF-8" from "ISO-8859-1" Any other method can solve this query?

• WCF REST Does Not Contain All of the Relative File Path

  I have a RESTful WCF 3.5 endpoint as such: System.Security.User.svc This is supposed to represent the namespace of the User class and is desired behavior by our client. I have another endpoint I created for testing called: Echo.svc I am writing an overridden IHttpModule and in my module, I follow what almost everyone does by doing: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If I make a call to: http://localhost/services/Echo/test My path variable has a value of '~/echo/test' However, when I make a call to: http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test My path variable has a value of '~/system.security.user' In my 2nd situation, it is stripping off the '/test' on the end of any endpoint that contains multiple periods. This is undesired behavior and the only solution I have found to fixing this is some ugly string manipulation using the property which does contain the complete URL path: string rawPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl; This returns '/services/system.security.user/test'. Does anyone know why my first situation does not return the rest of the URL path for endpoints that contain multiple periods in the name?

It doesn't work - it caches for 60 seconds, but only one cached copy is created regardless of what I put in the CacheString property. Anyone any ideas what i'm doing wrong? - After 4 hours of this I have no hair or nails left - please save my monitor from the brick.

So I modified my code according to that, and in the finally I inserted code that does not modify the output. Strangely, the code OUTSIDE the finally block does. My method always returns true. As suggested, it is not a good idea to have 2 return. What should I do?

• JDBC ResultSet.getString Before/After Start/End of ResultSet Exception

  I have done a lot of searching about this topic through Google but I have yet to find someone using getString() in the way that I am using it so I have not been able to fix this issue in the normal ways that are suggested. What I am trying to do is to obtain all of the information from the database and then use it to populate a table model within the program. I do so by obtaining the data with getString and place it into a String[] object: try { while (rSet.next()) { String row[] = {rSet.getString("DonorName"),rSet.getString("DonorCharity"),((String)rSet.getString("DonationAmount"))}; model.addRow(row); } } However I am always getting a dialog error message stating those error messages in the title: Exception: Before start of result set Exception: After end of result set The data is still added and everything works correctly but it is just annoying to have to dismiss those message windows. Does anyone have some suggestions?
