  I'm trying to do a really simple task - setup a virtual directory in Windows Server 2008. This is what I am doing but it's not working for some reason: Open IIS 7 Create a new virtual directory in Default Web Site and point it to a folder on d:\ drive Browse to folder on d:\ drive and create an .htm file with some test text in it Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost/TestSite/index.htm But I get a 404 - what gives? Edit:I didn't mention at first that this is Server 2008 R2

  I have a server, did some of the programming myself. It ison my home network, but I need to be able to access it from anywhere over the internet. I have done the port forwarding like I am supposed to, but I still cant get to it from an outside computer. It just displays Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I don't know what else to do. I am on a Linksys WRT54G v8 router running ddWRT v24 micro firmware.

• Sync my files across multiple computers

  I do a lot of work on my home computer, ranging from programming, writing stored procedures and writing documentation and reporting. A lot of this work is university related and constantly swapping files across several computers is annoying at best. I have a large final-year project coming up and I'm going to be sharing this work amongst home and university and require some kind of online storage that provides version control for my programs, as well as my Word documents, PDF's and saved academic papers. If NTFS has been successfully reverse engineered to a useful degree, then why is the kernel driver still only read-only, with write support being very dangerous.....just as it was 5 years agi?

  Note, there's already a question on this regard, but it's totally useless. I need to blur, or put a small opaque mask to a moving object on a movie I took, I am using Mac OS X. Clearly, I don't want to shell out a lot of money for something so simple, so getting Adobe Premiere or similar software is a no go. I could however consider paying a small software (max 30 dollars) for this specific task.

• Forwarding apache requests (port 80) to Tomcat (port 8080)?

  I want to run a Tomcat application through a regular website URL, such as www.xyz.com. I would like the root of this domain to act as the base directory for the web application, so each request to www.xyz.com/a/b/c becomes www.abc.com:8080/myApp/a/b/c. Ideally, I would be able to do this transparently and only for certain webapps. www.abc.com:8080 should still respond to requests. What do I need to do to make this happen?

• git clone is blank from a Gitosis Served Repository

  I'm using Win 7's built-in VPN client but every time I put my computer to sleep / hibernate mode and then wake it up again, the connection is lost and I need to reconnect manually. Is there any way to automate it? Wireless connections have a nice little checkbox ("automatically connect when this network is in range") but I couldn't find anything similar for VPN connections. This question (answered by KronoS) tells how to change the delay time before the popups occur when hovering over the open application icons on the taskbar.
